- Here's a rare and great sounding recording of Jaco and one of the many incarnations of his Word of Mouth big band( he would change personell depending on what location the band was playing) playing at Mr Pip's in Fort Lauderdale Florida on January the 18th in 1982, in other words under two months after the famous "Birthday Concert" was held at the same venue. Not only is the sound quality very good for an audience recording but the band sounds very inspired and exuberant. The only downside is that over half of the tunes on the recording are incomplete, including "Donna Lee" where we only get to hear about 40 seconds of Jaco's solo. The core of the band is the same sextet that toured North America the same year and should need no introduction, but other than Dave Bargeron on tuba, Randy Emerick on baritone saxophone and Peter Gordon on french horn I unfortunately don't know the names of the rest of the horn section.

Love Jaco ❤❤
Absolutely incredible! Jaco never gets old. It’s amazing how relevant he has stayed after all this time. He has influenced me so much as a guitarist. No one compares to him unless they were directly influenced by them.
I agree totally with your comment. Thanks for commenting.
