@@TylersReelFishing oh yeah I know I’m getting the poppin pad perch I don’t even know what the spro is and quite honestly I don’t think there is a better lures brand than strike king out there!

Hey Tyler thanks for the great tips on frog fishing. I didn't know about how many more bites you can get your self by walking the frog . I'll have to pick up some of those Poppin purches there different than the average frog and I like that. GOD bless you and your family your pal fisherman Mike from Missouri.
"A hookset strong enough to pick up Thor's hammer." That's my frog fishing motto from now on. My sweetest frog hookset was probably last week. The bass were up super shallow and were loving the frog. On one of my casts I landed it on the bank and worked it back through some extremely thick flooded vegetation. I couldn't even see my frog but I suddenly heard that distinctive splash, waited a sec, then I picked up Thor's hammer. I launched that 3.7lb bass about 4 feet over the rest of the cover...lol It definitely wasn't my biggest on the frog but it felt sweet.
i agree the popping perch is a great easy to learn topwater bait, strikeking really makes some amazing lures and there affordable. i also like using flapping style frogs because of the simplicity. thanks Tyler God Bless and tight lines

Do fish stay on beds at night? I enjoy night fishing because I like to be there when there’s less traffic on the water. I’m a bank fisherman from California and I have 2 reservoirs within about 30-40 minutes from me. Water temp where I’m at is about 67-71 as of today. We just had a cold from front that had air temp go from 79-81 to about 64-67 that started 2 days ago. And about 2 weeks ago water temp was 69-73. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If you wanna look at the bodies of water they are Woodward reservoir in Oakdale Ca and Modesto reservoir near Waterford Ca. Thank you so much!
Thanks for mixing bank fishing and boat fishing tips. I'm willing to guess the majority of us here is the classroom are bank fishing. A great experiment on one of your next teaching videos would be to say at the beginning is for "only" the bank fisherman to thumbs up the video. Then monitor that against the amount of views.
@@TylersReelFishing I bet they would if you poised it like a poll. People love to take sides. You are one of the few "pros" that mix it up with success. Or, "if this video gets say 10k likes, I will do a Wal-Mart lure challenge" or something to that effect. Thanks again Tyler.
Another great video Tyler! Apparently, I need some tips on how to catch 'cruising' bass. This past weekend I was fishing a spot that I could literally see plenty of bass cruising through the water amongst the downed trees and other cover. I tried EVERYTHING...jigs, spinners, chatterbaits, and of course the frog. I would watch them come straight up to the frog and then swim away. I hid behind a tree just in case they could see me...still nothing. What was I doing wrong? Do you have any secrets for bass that just won't bite?
Finesse tactics like ned rigs, shaky heads, drop shot, etc.- are made for this very situation. Generally- if they won't hit a moving bait, you need something smaller, something much, much slower, and less intimidating. Sounds like you tried a bunch of power fishing tactics- which are the most fun, but usually not the most productive.
I LOVE frog fishin', happy to say I'm not makin any of these mistakes!😁 I did lose a 4 pounder the other day after grinding em to just a few feet off the bank!😭 I don't know if I horsed em too much or it was the strait braid but I'm gonna start using 6 foot of "big game" mono leader for just a little give when they breach and thrash. This guy jumped 4 times on me and threw me on that last one. Haunts my dreams!😥😡
As a native Floridan I have yet to catch a fish on a frog this season I’m almost always throwing a black spro but still I haven’t gotten a bite. I’m hoping this vid helped 🤞🏻
Walking a frog in place is key and if you get real good at walking it you can get it to walk left or right if coming up to cover and you want to get closer. When you get good at frog fishing that is you want to do. Another good tip is if you are getting hit but they are only biting the legs trim them down and bending hooks slightly up can help to depending on the frog. Also waiting for that slight pressure before rippin on it helps. Sometimes they will just hit it and if you don’t swing and twitch it a couple times they most likely come back for it.
@@TylersReelFishing I know you already probably knew. 🤣 thanks for all the great videos and hope all is well for you and your family. Love the 100 pond videos as I am a bank angler. But I don’t have much ponds to fish out here in the Bay Area of California. Mostly walking a lot of reservoir banks. Would be cool if you did some videos of bank fishing some lakes. How you would go about researching them like using google earth to find areas to fish but also how to figure out witch areas are aceccible by foot. Where I live I have 3 reservoirs that don’t even allow boats close by here in Morgan Hill California. Anyways you the man and look forward to more of what you do
You trim them for one of two reasons: 1. You want to be able to walk the frog easier. The legs cause drag which makes it harder to walk. 2. If you feel like the tails are being eaten by the bass and not the bait, then trim them. Most often it’s number 1 though. I don’t trim my poppin to perch tail and I catch almost all that bite
