I can’t begin to tell you how much this video and the other one on rigging has helped me. I am just starting to fish so I am in the learning phase. These videos have been extremely helpful. I have watched literally hundreds of videos over the past month and these two were the most helpful. I would suggest you do similar videos like this for hard lures and jigs.
As a kid, my dad took my brothers and me out fishing. What it usually entailed was the 4 of us sitting on the bank throwing worms in on bobbers and waiting. Between the four of us, someone always caught something, and that was fun. Fastforward 15 years, having really not done any fishing since then (and only about a dozen times at best), I realize that I know very little about fishing. The videos that assume you know nothing are the best ones. These high level videos are necessary for people who don't really know what everything is about.
You’re literally THE best channel for new anglers… Most of these other guys leave out a lot of key information because they’ve been fishing for so long they forget what it’s like to be a complete idiot at it 😂
I literally just watched this yesterday and did exactly what you said on a drop shot and creature bait and caught two 3#s! You’re a miracle worker Tyler! 🤣
This is a fantastic video. You go over all the fine details and nuances that other channels leave out. I'm sure this is common knowledge to most but you answered many questions I've had. Thanks and keep it up!
I don't know if you remember Tyler, but you and I had a back and forth about your hooks video. I wanted to bring that up only to say this. You are so in your element when you're doing a on the water instructional it's like watching a different channel. I appreciate what you were trying to do in the hooks video like I said. Stuff like this and the hookset video are absolute gold mines of info. Even your jig video I learned I was a goofball and have been pushing the weed guard the dummy way forever when rigging it up. Stick to the boat Tyler, you really really shine there. Congrats on the viral video. Going to do my part for the MD auction.
this video is now 2 years old but man i watched this the night before i post this comment and because of you showing how to use these plastics i caught my new PB at a local park that i didn’t think there was even bass in! i tied on the ned rig and put on a green craw and did exactly as you said and i caught a 12 pound largemouth! i can’t thank you enough for this video!
Thanks! Got my first bass. Have not fished in more than 50 years. Doing it for the grand kids at the retension pond shallow at sunset curltail worm, lucky stirke, and a mr. crappie strike king hook.
I absolutely love this video. I have been fishing for a while now but I never really used soft plastics as much as I should have because I just didn’t totally know how to. This video helped me so much. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! You’ll like the rest of the channel I think 👍🏼 Whenever you have a fishing question or technique you want to learn, search “TylersReelFishing ____” on YT and in that blank, put the topic you are curious about. Odds are, ive already made a video about it👍🏼
I am loving your videos Tyler. I think between just the rigging and this video, I've learned more about bass fishing then watching any other channels entire video collection. Thanks!
Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.
You’re an awesome guy and your channel is evolving into something really great. I Like how it’s similar to Matt and Tim’s style of video but adds in a different element. Thanks Tyler!
This is so helpful, I have been using hard baits and crank baits my while life lol and I'm trying to branch out slowly making my way into everything after getting into mystery tackle boxes and opening things I've never learned to use lol keep up the good videos!
How I would explain a bite on plastic lures is you feel a thump and then it feels weird like extra weight or sorta grainy. And ofc the line running away.
Tyler, thanks for excellent advice. Here in South Africa i use a lot of your advice when fishing. I must say that you, the guys from tactical bassin and Roland Martin really give advice tha actually work wonderfully well. Thanks again and tight lines.
I started working a rage tail based on this video and have been killing bass with it!! Thanks so much for your videos caught 2 (1.5 lb and 3lb)just today in 20 mins working it.
Definitely subscribed! Its crazy how you have the best tutorials for beginners and I just now have heard of you. These videos are amazing and super helpful!
Wow. This dude linked a charity for children in his video instead of a product or company referral link. Subscribed for the energy frequency, because I could use some
Love this video! I've been looking at a few videos about Baitcasters and stumbled across this. I've always used just crankbaits, and sometimes worms whenever i could get away with it. My family has never really been fond of soft plastics so I haven't had a chance to use them, but after watching this I'm willing to give them a try. Thank you so much for the info! Now i definitely have to subscribe!
I love your content man, you do a great job of explaining things, you seem very well educated, you explain everything so it’s easy to take in, and I appreciate the family friendly vibe.
I bass fish when ever possible and your videos I hope will help this old angler. Keep up the good information. I just subscribed so you can help me more.
Awesome video, great channel! ...l love your friends donation idea too. My son has Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy and we love fishing! Tell your friend I said to keep up the awesome work. I bought tickets myself.
Found you today bro, I'm really liking your vids man. Even fishing as long as I have i am finding out I have been working some of these baits the same way which is wrong and would explain why I considered them a weak point of mine. Can't wait to try these out thank you!
Hey Tyler I am a teenage bass fisherman and I really enjoy your videos! I love all your tips and in the past few years your videos have really helped me become the angler I am today! Now my income isn’t very high because I can’t get a job yet and I wanted to ask your advice on how to get a lot more bang for my buck mostly on baits and lures. I love strike king but it is quite pricey for my cash flow so what is your advice on how to get quality bass baits and lures for a decent price so I can fish more thanks!
So, you have three options: 1. Shop on chinese lure websites like "wish". Quality if very low but you get a lot of lures for your money 2. Shop at the bargain bins at bass pro shops and cabelas 3. Work extra hard to achieve the "status" you want. There are plenty of jobs out there, especially for young people (like landscaping, cleaning, etc)
53 been fishing my whole life in Texas from early days Livingston to Fork, Houston and Fayette county and now, primarily retention ponds in Spring,Tx. About 12 years ago TPaW dumped a ton of Florida hybrids in many of the retention in ponds and one in particular has some monsters..even my PB during the hottest days last summer 3pm 9lbs 4oz..during the Spawn it's all day all night fun..to the point your fingers bleed from taking fish off the hooks and the bass teeth just do their job.. Now, I've ran into a slump and they aren't biting anything...since mid Dec to now, not even a bite. I've never had an issue ever and used everything you've shown including pinks, whites and pearl white flukes on Texas rigs as this is a very shallow pond but drops to a deep 18 ft in the n.e. corner with deep cover so I have to punch through then drag...changed lines everything and still nothing...I see them so they are there but just have no interest in anything.. One week it's 80 the next week it's 30 degrees up down, can that affect them because that's all I can think of. The temperature is fluctuating so drastically that if it's 80 and a huge downpour happens the retention pond get a bunch of warm water then a cold front comes in and drops it and by the time the water cools down it's 80 again outside...I'm lost. Opinion?
Thats really cool that your helping raising money for MD camp ? I have a daughter with MD , these camps are a lot of fun for these kids . Thank you for your support you have no idea how much this will mean to a lot of kids .
Ok hear me out i take a regular led weighted hook and jerk the wacky rig untill my rod is straight up and let it sink and what that does is makes the sides flap and then flutter down and that kinda causes some sort of reaction bite and the fish LOVE it
Buzz frog is one of my favorites. Buzzing it across the top is cool, but I actually like letting mine sink. Then I do quick short rips back to me. Gives off tons of vibration.
First time Subscriber here. What a great video. I learned a lot. But I also have to commend you on doing things for MD. Muscular Dystrophy. I lost both my sons to that disease so I know first hand, how important this charity is. Awesome man! Keep up the great work. ;)
Hi Ron! So glad to have you around the channel. And thank you for sharing the story about your boys. I’m sure they were still able to do great things while they were here! Hope to see you stick around
Hey Tyler, amazing video glad you’re getting the views you deserve. Would you please do a video like this for the beginner tackle you recommend. Thanks 🙏
Tyler I love the informative videos you make try and watch them all. I am in the market for a bass boat. What are some of the must haves and what type do you run? Thank you in advance!
Howdy! I partner with Skeeter, and owned a skeeter long before I ever worked with them. You just want to make sure (if buying used), that the engine has been taken care of, and the hull is in good condition. Tactical Bassin has a good video on buying used boats
I am a salt water fisherman in Brisbane and have never even touched freshwater gear or even given it a thought but this video was still very entertaining
Man, you are the best Ty. You give excellent and detailed instruction on how and what to do. One question. I see that you use long rods for your plastics. What length do you use in general for plastics?
Been bass fishing for a long time, but I have never had luck with soft plastics until today. Caught a bass and an alligator gar almost back to back. I was using a lure I found while fishing a couple years ago, and just found out it's actually a jig made by Savage Gear. Go figure lol But I'm delving into soft plastics more because of it. I've always used topwaters and swimbaits in the past.
Cool video instructions on how to work the soft plastic we learned how to rig. Question, What would you recommend on throwing to bass that are breaking water, jumping out of the water all around you? I tried the frog, spinnerbaits, buzz bait, swim paddle, etc. My thought was to try a jerk bait (hard) and/or a popper (Rico). Thoughts??
Another awesome video, Tyler! Cannot thank you enough for all the work you've put into helping us learn how to catch those beautiful little ditch pickles. 🎣 The only noted I'd like to give is that you don't have to shy away from the Ned rig in the shallows! 💜 Though I'd reckon you probably have at least 3 better lures to throw in shallow situations where a Ned rig would put the hammer on 'em.🙏🔥😂
He put the googans together before they were the googans at his house. Check out his Texas Bass Challenge video. They met at his house and tyler put it together.
Awesome! I made one for jigs! Check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/_Pi2-sg5fVk/v-deo.html I’m always putting out content like this, so stay subscribed!

Thanks for the Bass fishing knowledge!
Of course Jesse!
Fantastic content! Gonna share around social bass fishing groups because you really deserve more exposure! Greetings from Portugal
I appreciate that so so much!
Thats really cool that your helping raising money for MD camp ? I have a daughter with MD , these camps are a lot of fun for these kids . Thank you for your support you have no idea how much this will mean to a lot of kids .
That's so awesome! I think it will be a yearly thing!
I’ve heard that for sure. I just don’t use it that way
Shake it more than twice, you're playing with it...
Pause
Well then...... I guess a lot of the time I'm playing with it 😂😂😂
Awkwaaard…
Lol

Man, you are the best Ty. You give excellent and detailed instruction on how and what to do. One question. I see that you use long rods for your plastics. What length do you use in general for plastics?
7’ at least

What reel rod combo are you using in video😊 btw i like the video man can realy leanr so much from it😊
Cool video instructions on how to work the soft plastic we learned how to rig. Question, What would you recommend on throwing to bass that are breaking water, jumping out of the water all around you? I tried the frog, spinnerbaits, buzz bait, swim paddle, etc. My thought was to try a jerk bait (hard) and/or a popper (Rico). Thoughts??
Yes, try those two. Soft jerkbait too
Drop shot tip is great! Thanks
Another awesome video, Tyler! Cannot thank you enough for all the work you've put into helping us learn how to catch those beautiful little ditch pickles. 🎣 The only noted I'd like to give is that you don't have to shy away from the Ned rig in the shallows! 💜 Though I'd reckon you probably have at least 3 better lures to throw in shallow situations where a Ned rig would put the hammer on 'em.🙏🔥😂
up here on lake of the woods using a weightless fluke just straight retrieved very slowly is fire right now
I bet! I hope to get back up there this summer
What do you think about the googans you should do some videos with some of them
Please no.
If I'm not mistaken he's fished with some of em before, I mean he lives in Texas lmao.
He put the googans together before they were the googans at his house. Check out his Texas Bass Challenge video. They met at his house and tyler put it together.
God is good!!!!!!!!!
Love this, taking notes!!!!!
Very good video,I’m learning
