Thanks for sharing your tips. One other thing I learned the hard way, and still have issues with is when I get a hit on the frog, my natural reaction is set the hook. I've been working on waiting a few seconds or even waiting to set the hook until I can feel the weight of the fish on my rod. Some days it's like dodging bullets when my frog comes shooting back at me.
Duuude!! What is up with the thumbs down 👎 people??! Man this is one of the most informative videos I have seen on frog fishing!! Most people are just trying to sell you something! You actually gave us info we could use! Awesome video! Keep em comin
When I’m in my kayak I throw the frog on the bank and hop it in like as if it’s real and typically as soon as it hits the water it’s GONE caught so many 4-5s lbers like that
The more i watch your videos, the morei respect your advice. Made me a better fisherman for sure! My mates here in South Africa are also enjoying your clips. Thanks again and tight lines.
Tyler I've been watching your vidoes for only two days. And the way you describe each lure and how to use them is just great. You really separate yourself from other anglers. Thank you for these videos
I love throwing the frog around wood and in shade pockets. My favorite frog is the booyah pad crasher. Its hookup ratio is really good especially if you modify it like you suggested. I'm eager to get out on the water and practice my skipping. That video you did on it was very good. 👊👍
I love pairing the frog with the Lake-Fork frog trailer hook. It gets hung up sometimes and it’s not super durable, but has increases your hook up ratio tons.
You are absolutely right about the frog. Caught my PB on a Booyah Popping frog in open water nearly 40 yards offshore between 2 Lilly pad fields, an 11 pound beast in my hometown lake in Ocoee, FL. Looking forward to seeing you fish the “Elites” nothing but good advice from you. Thank you!
youre my favorite fishing youtuber who talks about these mistakes that anglers make and how to make imedaite repairs to correctly fix these mistakes so you can spend more time catching them. Ty you opened my eyes up to the fact that its not that i cant catch them on frogs its the fact that i needed to add weights to the rubber frogs with the holes in them , i personally don think its that big of a deal if the frogs sink to the bottom because i love fishing on the bottom and plus an advantage of sinking frogs is that i can determine the depth im fishing and search and slay these bass while i look for the agressive fish that are feeding. i wish they would manufactuer small ssize frogs like a 1/8oz frog.
Just came across your channel a couple of days ago I have been watching intently. Your instructional videos are awesome I've learned a lot and I'm convinced the accuracy of your casts are unparalleled! LOL
Thanks bud! I love frog fishing as much as everyone !I agree with more frogs but the reality is you catch less but bigger weight! Thanks for the videos!
I knew the first tip would be bend the hooks out. I have never bent the hooks out and I get a better hook up ratio than my peers that do not bend them out, and we fish a lot of frogs. This would definitely be something the Mfg would do if it really made a difference. Everything else I really agree with. Ultimately, thanks for the video.
Thank you for your insight Ty! Recently missing a bunch of frog bass in a tournament and got super frustrated! Needed to see some good tips and someone with a lot of confidence in ole Kermit! Keep up the good work!
Something I like doing is down sizing my frogs if I feel like everyone is throwing the same size frog I’ll down size by either going to the smallest frog I can get or just taking the legs completely off. The best year I had on a frog was in August I got a 2in live target frog and took the legs off and flat hammered them when they wasn’t hitting the regular or bigger size frogs
I still say with proper gear and a decent frog modifications to the frog are completely unnecessary. Most people are missing fish while frogging because they're not using the correct gear. Either that or they're doing something stupid like the "count to three" method. If you feel the weight of a fish, swing. Run a long rod and heavy braid. Problem solved.
Good evening BassFishingHQ; My son and I TRUELY ENJOY YOUR VEDIO's! :-) You are TOTLLY DOWN TO EARTH! LOL! I have been fishing for OVER 25 Years! In Germany we Fish on Pike with frogs in summer when there is so much weeds in the water. With the hooks bending them a bit more is for especially for pike a good idea as they are anyway hard to hook.
Hi, where I am we fish snakehead in heavy obstacles, normally we would reel quite fast then stop, it works for most fish. Reel stop, reel stop it’s quite effective doesn’t work with popper frog.
I don't see a lot of guys suggesting the weight up the butt method that's some of the juice juice. My general preference/ If you want extra clack, or more of a baitfish sound profile use 2 or three small split shot weights, If you go light enough with the weights you can use this on open water froggin as well.
Great information! This channel is becoming my favorite. Besides Spro what other companies make a great popping frog. BTW I wish the hook in the Spro popping frog was bigger
I’d imagine most of these tips will transfer over to pike fishing, the tip about bending the hooks out is very helpful as I have missed pike before and I’m sure it’s because of the hook not being exposed enough. I find a big pause occasionally really helps and as soon as you do that first twitch after the pause, BOOM! Bye bye froggy 😂 and the tip about the fast moving frog is definitely true also
Most everyone recommend 50 lb + but I personally prefer like around a 20 lb as long as I'm not trying to fish super thick shit cuz if ya get hung up then that heavier braid helps ya rip the lure outta the shit

If you want to learn to set the hooks properly on frogs fish them at night because you can’t always see them hit so you go more off of feel and sometimes sound. Wait a second and set the hook after you feel them. They will hold it for longer than you think. Hope it helps someone
Super cool stuff man although cutting the legs off a ten dollar frog pained me to watch but, not Gona say I won’t find one beat up one in my box to give it a go lol clever approach
Man the fish lab frogs are LEGIT. I literally take the frogs right out if the pack, pull the legs and hooks and replace with my own round rubber legs then tie the hooks together with braid, put red heat shrink over braid to the bend so it extends past the hole. Tie some thread around the line and hook tie, add a few bbs into body then pull the hooks back, burn a hole between the legs to let frog breathe then glue the nose to thread on line/hook tie. And then adjust hooks.
I have used the Googan Frog and it will get you bites but your hook up ratio will take a hit. (See the video with Lake Fork Guy...he missed quite a bit of fish) Now you can alter the hook angle to address it but I am a guy that believes when they designed the frog it was meant to be used from the package as is. As someone said there are better frogs but they get pricey. There is a reason they cost more. Better hook-up ratio, walking action, no need to discharge water every other cast.
@@BassFishingHQ that’s awesome. I live in Richmond. Im in a wheelchair so hard for me to get in a boat like I use to well haven’t been in a boat like I use to be able to but I still do a lot of bank fishing on ponds and such around here
I recommend it on a baitcaster 100%. But you could throw it on a spinning rod if you wanted to. I would just go with a stiffer spinning rod and 20lb braid
Trying to learn the frog taking on water every other cast seems like. Is it my slowness try to get walking retrieve down tried various brands and price points and pretty sure it's me not the frogs. I realize you have squish water out but every few cast? Any suggestions? Hard to learn with sub-surface frogs ha-ha
It helps a shit ton of you use a braid or mono line when fishing any topwater if you don't do that....fluro sinks and just it sinking can tend to draw the nose of the bait down and I ce it's under just even a little bit the water pressure starts forcing water into the body causing it to sink, if you already use braid or mono with topwater then try using some hot glue just around the hole where the hook goes through the body, it helps to somewhat seal it off
Anything top water you want to use either mono or braid. Fluorocarbon sinks while mono and braid will stay at the surface depending on the type of lure you're using and if there's weight added to it.
Thank you for the tips, I will literally try them in the morning. One question, do you ever try them in open water? Fishing from the bank sometimes does not give a lot of options and I am just curious if I would be wasting my time

Boil your frogs to soften the bodies up also and helps with hookups

All right because of this video alone I’m heading out to the Delta this weekend and I’m gonna be working the frogs extremely fast
You should try the single paddle tail for working it fast. I use a booya toad runner for it.
Great tips and great edit - thanks for the video. Good luck
Great video Ty. Been binge watching your channel for about a week and putting a lot of your tips to use. Thanks for all you do with your channel!
I appreciate the kind words Adam! Thanks for watching!!
Awesome tips, topwater is my favorite for sure!
Great video! Get this channel going
Great video, will use your tips!!!
I understand cutting the legs so they hit more of the body, but what is the benefit of cutting two different lengths?
Outstanding videos!
I think you just solved my frog fishing hex. Will keep you posted.
Awesome video, great info! I like to use split shot weights in my frogs, gives a little rattle too.
Or BB’s for sound

Will these frog methods work on Northern Pike? 🐟 awesome video and thanks for the cool tips!
Yes they will! But it’s once you catch one that frog is destroyed and it will sink
Thanks for the video
Good vid👍🏻
Never thought of pushing weight into the frogs, great idea
We used to throw live frogs on a weedless hook when I was a kid. Caught some monsters that way.
how do you hook live frog? body or just the lip?
@@ottodetroit lip, like a minnow.

I see on the deck of your boat you have Daiwa Tatula Elite rods. I have their skipping rod which is 6'9''

Love any frog video, yours is one of the best because it's short and to the point. Great job.
Top lure 👍👍😁
Can we get a brand comparison for frogs like you did with the chatterbaits?
Thanks brother 👍
cool frog lure !!
Great video. I throw a frog about 80% of the time. I’ve caught some giant Texas bass with frogs
I want to start frog fishing, but I don’t have the right gear. Do you have any suggestions for some rod and reel setups that won’t break the bank?
Definitely needed this video i fish alot of open water what size braid would you recommend

Why do you trim the legs to different lengths?
It weighs one side of the lure more it makes it easier to walk

why trim the legs to different lengths......." about an inch off one side about a half inch off other?"
