Can I honestly ask why everyone shooting off-hand holds the rifle waaaayyyy out in front, with their arm flapping in the breeze? It's no wonder people struggle with off-hand shooting, they can't hold the gun still. Hold the rifle just in front of the trigger guard, tuck your elbow in against your ribs (bones are more ridged than muscle). That group should be a ragged hole with a close flyer at 25 yards, not 6"x6". 20gr of 777 with a ball is a heck of a 100yd groundhog load lol, I bet you could go down to 5-10gr and still kill squirrel plenty well (considering .22LR was only loaded with 5gr of powder and a 48gr bullet). Also, for sighting in without a bench, make up some cross-sticks from the pile there behind you and some twine, it's not as good as bags, but it's a lot more consistent than off-hand. Sidelock guns need to be held onto a little tighter than inlines as well, the mass moving off to the side makes the gun want to twist as it fires.
I have never had luck with a cap lock w/ drum. Tried for 30 yrs with my CVA Bobcat .54. Find inline ignition works best for me. Envy those who can make flint locks work, but not for me.
I realize this has some time but i have a tc32 Cherokee....yes they will foul faster being a small cal....but.... I use bore butter, track of the wolf mink paste, and if you want to experiment try shine rite mink oil/ paste ie boot grease....in hot weather you have to add bees wax to bore butter etc, especially w Maxi's.... And no my Cherokee is not for sale....and if tc brings them back i may buy another.
I have a CVA Squirrel Rifle made in 1984. I got it as a kit and put it together myself. It’s quite beautiful and a great shooter. Mine likes round ball and also a 100 grain Thompson center maxi ball bullet of which I have a mold for. Great little small bore muzzleloader. Took many squirrels and rabbits with it. Mine is the left handed model as I became a left handed rifle shooter after an injury to my right eye forced me to become left eye dominate. Shooting it over a rested position easily makes mine shoot half dollar sized groups at forty yards.
Glad your still out there enjoying shooting black powder! This little gun is a great shooter. I am planning on get out with it real soon for small game.
Do you have to clean the barrel after each shot with 777? Drives me crazy with the crud ring. Maybe a 20 gr. Charge doesn't build up the crud. Good powder other than that.
I feel 777 is dirtier than real powder. I have shot this gun at a woods walk with 15 shots and didnt need to clean the barrel when using Swiss but when using Goex & Schuetzen I get about 10 shots.
@GO_OutDoors That's interesting. I shot 3 shots with 777 pellets and could barely get the third bullet seated. I've shot loose 777 with excellent results but still got the crud. I like blackhorn, a percussion cap won't set it off.
Never tried Blackhorn so I can't say anything about it. I use goex and it is dirty also. I don't use pellets unless it is a inline but a side lock I prefer real black powder.@@jaredpeterson380
No one shoots a gun in off hand. You have to take the human element out of the equation. You have to do it on a bench on sand bags. Or you are just wasting ammo.

I have troubles every now and then with a Flintlock but caps are more reliable as you know but with the drum style you just need to keep it clean.

Interesting. I've have had little bit of fouling with my 32, but I've never used boot grease for cleaning. I might have to try it out.

I never could understand why Anyone would try to site in a rifle w/out shooting it from a solid rest ( sandbag etc ) !? How can You be accurate ?
Yea I should have started off the bench but most shots when out hunting will be off hand. Thanks For watching.
@@GO_OutDoors w/o bench work You have no idea where that rifle is actually hitting .
Cool video
Thanks!!
Your selling it damn
Nope! I am going to ask my buddy what he wants for it!
@@GO_OutDoors oh thought it was yours .cool
@@tomritter493 Nope my buddy said to fix it up and get it shooting and make video's with it.

Yes I did bench shoot it a few days latter and got it shooting good. Thanks for watching!
HITTIN THAT 👍🥃💕
Thanks for watching!!
Nice that little rifles a shooter
Yes it sure is!
It`s not louder than a .22lr rifle with standard ammo is it ?
Not much loader at all!!
I can’t shoot off hand anymore either
I think it was to much coffee!! LOL!
👍
Thanks
You seem to be lifting your head at the exact same time you pull the trigger. That would account for your large grouping.
Yes I noticed that when editing! Thank you for the tip.
Good shooting! I'd be proud of that target any day.
Thanks! I did a little more fine tuning sense the video and its a tack driver now!
@@GO_OutDoors Outstanding!!!
I hope Your rifle is better at shooting than You are at shooting it ! ( cause I have one just like it , that I haven't shot yet )
It shoots allot better since I redid the rear site! Thanks for watching and go burn some powder!!
