I'm perfectly pleased with how Ian came across. Because this is about him. I had a great time speaking with him. And according to the now nearly 4000 views, other people are interested in Ian as well. So glad that this is candid and raw.
As a teenager in the mid-70's, I was lucky enough to be an ordinary DWAS member from about the time Ian began recording Dr Who off his tv, so this interview is fascinating to me! I remember how Star Trek the original series seemed to get repeated in its virtual entirety year on year in the 70's on BBC1, which was great - I saw it often in B&W! - but it was so frustrating that the brilliant Dr Who was only ever mostly broadcast by the BBC just once. Repeats or compilations were very rare. The strength of the original 60's, 70's, and even the 80's Dr Who's, were the sheer variety of interesting TV stories, which is why we fans longed to see them on VHS, DVD, and now Blu-Ray. I admire Ian's commitment and passion to the preservation of classic TV Dr Who. Thank you so much for this interview, and thanks to Ian for going into so much detail about the efforts he and others made, to preserve this cultural heritage for posterity. Well done to interviewer and interviewee!
The most in depth interview I have ever done. Almost three and a half hours. Deeply honest and obviously controversial. Pulls no punches The slide show at the end is just fabulous
Thank you again for being willing to let me question you for so long Ian. This was really fun to be able to meet you and ask some questions I have had for a long time. Thank you for your kindness.
I went to Blackpool Mecca in 1976 and Ian Levine was the leader and DJ of modern underground Soul Music, and I am glad to see him this Saturday via a Dr Who documentary.
38:57 You can put video on a CD, there is a format called Video CD or you could just put the video as a file and burn it to a CD. Not sure what Ian is talking about there. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_CD Pretty much all DVD players can play Video CDs too.
I lasted 2 and half hours. This interview could certainly do with a lot of editing. Watching two men sat in silence trying to remember Bradley Walsh’s name is not entertaining. I did enjoy listening to Ian recount the stories of how he came into the possession of Doctor Who episodes - for me that was the essential 15 mins or so of this whole conversation. I don’t rate this interviewer at all - he doesn’t engage with his guests, he doesn’t question their answers, or challenge them, or ask them to reiterate - he responds to everything with a blank face and a simple “ok” before moving into another subject. I wished I could have jumped in at points. He didn’t seem that familiar with the show itself, unaware for instance of the significance of The Tenth Planet and was equally unfamiliar with most of the British cultural touch points Ian Mentioned (tv shows, industry figures, famous names). Also I think it’s amusing that while Ian has owned the only complete collection of DC comics from the start to 2015, saved many Doctor who episodes from vanishing from existence, had a successful music career producing hits for Northern Soul artists, commissioned his own animated reconstructions and bred dogs… he appears to be incapable of putting his mobile phone on silent. 😂
Thanks for your input. I intentionally did not engage with conversation with Ian any more than I did due to the fact that the interview was about him and not me. I got the questions I had answered, Ian was polite and kind and I am grateful for his time and generosity. I pulled off the most comprehensive interview of Ian Levine in history and with that, I am pleased.
Any chance of someone running a fact check over this interview. Over the years Levine's always had an interesting attitude towards the truth and, given the recent fracas over his alleged animations, I'd like his claims to be verified before I believe a word he says.
"The most comprehensive interview of Ian Levine in history..." Is this a good thing? I tried watching but it's all a bit long and dull. It should be called: "Pensioner with a cough has dull and predictable opinions."

Our collections are the richer for his efforts...... Thank you Ian. But......... My God! What an obnoxious, conceited, embittered man. He has zero self awareness. He is unnecessarily confrontational with a perfectly pleasant interviewer, and is completely full of his own self importance. He barely has a decent word to say about anyone, and I can't help but wonder wether his grievances with these individuals came about because of his behaviour towards them. I felt compelled to watch to the end of the video, just to see if he could get any worse as it went on ! He did !!!! Hats off to the interviewer for keeping his cool. And if Ian happens to read this, Dont expect a reply from me to any vitriolic reply you might have, because you've proved how incapable you are of understanding your own behaviour. Civility costs nothing and is clearly a gift you do not possess.

Why edit it? It's historic. You don't edit historic things. Oh well, there is a single 'edit' where Ian's five dogs sounded like they were fighting. But why edit an historic conversation and edit to who's standards? No thanks on editing. This is Ian Levine.
@@timescales There are at least two instances where Ian says something is not for publication or asks - and is told - that the section will be edited out. It's bad practice not to honour those requests.
