hi. on my machine the tension is making the thread on under stitch bunch up. i took the tension case apart and was wondering if there should be a spring inside thetension case for the thread adjustment . i see on various other machine models there is a spring inside. can you unscrew your tension knob and see if i should have a spring. the manuel for this model is quite limited on the tension housing

The knob on the far left corner what does they do because mine is up and it’s not down like yours it has 2/3/2/1 on it

I just purchased one of these in the original cabinet at an estate sale for $5. After cleaning & reattaching it, it works like a charm. However, the fly wheel is stuck as if it were glued so the bobbin can't be threaded which is a real shame.

I prefer singer over kenmore. Because of the build quality. But it was a nice inexpensive choice for the late 60s and early 70s.
