Excellent video. I am used to old cast iron machines so this is new territory for me. I have a super clean one with all accessories. But, oh the odor. Spraying it with alcohol. Following up with oil.

I love these old machines and sew extensively on them. This is my favorite. I own two. Both are rescues from Goodwill. The most recent still needs to be overhauled before I can use it. The one I’m using now has lost the zig zag function. It would appear the little arm that rests against the “cam stack” no longer has any pressure. It seems loose. Is there a spring or something in the mechanism that has let go? I’m trying to find a service manual. Also, have you ever taken apart and rebuilt this model?

There is a screw to hold it in place. It might take a bit of time to find it, but once tightened and adjusted all should return to normal. The easiest way I have found to find it it is move the arm back and forth and track it to the cam stack and then identify where the arm is not held to the cam follower.

@@jamesrogers991 thank you! When I get a bit of time to tackle it I’ll use this advice. I’m glad it’s a screw. I was worried it might be a broken spring.

I have this same machine and had the same problem. What happened on mine was the needle housing in front was stuck or seized from probably non use. I had to oil it and turn the width dial back and forth while I pushed on it .little by little it came loose and now its running great

I have this model of machine and it has developed a squeak. I have gone through and oiled every part where metal seems to touch metal, even going down the side where the hand wheel is by taking a pipe cleaner to maneuver a drop of oil to the places I could see. The squeak happens right when the needle is at the highest point to where it begins to go back down again. It is a super short, but very annoying, squeak. Almost a chirp, would be how to describe it. Any idea of how to find that?

Does it happen if you turn the hand wheel manually? If so, you will be able to take off the cover and roll the hand wheel back and forth until you find it.

The bottles are not too expensive online but will take some time to arrive. You only need a drop or two in each location. Try a toothpick, stylus, crochet hook, knitting needle with a drop of oil on the end.
