Two very exciting cars with very different personalities. I liked the format of this review. The performance of cars these days is so good that you don't even have to bother with head-to-head tests. Both of these cars are capable of more performance than 99% of owners will be skilled enough to fully extract, so it just comes down to personality and preference.

I own a civic Si and used to own a 5.0 mustang. The mustang was more fun when you really want to mess around but the civic kills in in nearly every way aside from power. On a long sweeping back road the 5.0 would murder the civic, in tight turns and city driving the civic may even be faster but is definitely more fun. The 1000lb weight difference is also extremely apparent. Great video!
Honda and Ford are two of my favorite car manufacturers. They both found a way to combine sportiness with everyday practicality and still make the cars fun to drive every single day
The whole point is comparing the priorities of the two countries. Not similar cars. Yes a more fair comparison would be a gt350 vs a R35 but the r35 doesn’t represent the majority of Japanese cars
Personally, I love driving and have owned v8s rotarys and 4cyl turbos - I genuinely wanted both of these cars.... and then got them. No regrets. I wasn’t sure between the RS or the Type R but I had always wanted the Mustang. In pictures which is where I was originally shopping the civic, I was not a fan at all.. but when I saw it in person I really liked it.. especially the interior... that said, they are not wrong about the fake plastic vents in the bumper - they are terrible.
Sadly in NJ you have to have a front license plate... BUT Most car enthusiats put it on the Passenger side dash, "Like an Inspection sticker" and keep the front end looking good. * Problem solved ;-)
The Mustang Bullit is pure raw and unrefined power with awesome styling... The Civic is for those that want something a bit more practical all while still being efficient, and sporty.... Both of these are great collectable cars.

After printing money to maintain a Mercedes CLS 53 AMG as my daily (which I loved), I turned to what's becoming the last Amercian muscle car, the Mustang. I found a 2020 Bullitt with 6,700mi. It really can daily and tear it up. While the world turns hydrid and EV, so stands, and long live, the Coyote V8!
I own a 2019 Bullitt it’s a great car. I drove my cousin’s 2009 Civic Si and had a blast in the twisties. His was lowered with suspension mods and I never felt the car was gonna break loose no matter how hard I was in a turn. If this R which has way more power than that 2009 Si handles as well what a awesome that Honda Type R is. I would love to own one as a DD
Nice video. If I didn't live in a place where RWD is a death sentence in the winter (or at least an anxiety-inducing terror) the Bullitt is the car I would be driving. Hands down. But the Type R, which is what I have now, is soooooo damn good. Far and away the best FWD car I've ever had, including GTIs and Integra GS-Rs. It's more fun than the car I traded for it, an Audi S5; the manual alone is worth the trade.

After watching Steve McQueen in Bullitt, it has become my dream car since. I will definitely get one and drive it on 130 from Austin to San Antonio, where the speed limit is 80 mph!
I’d take the mustang and live with the potential consequences and lack of daily practicality. It looks, sounds, and feels fantastic plus in that green with the bullit badges you can’t get much better than that.
I agree! I live in the country here in Texas and there's a lot of back roads that no one hardly passes through. I just need to make sure there are no cows crossing the street and I'll be fine. It will be fun to drive even when I am just fixing to go to Walmart on a Sunday afternoon.

The fact you guys shoot on all the roads I grew up driving on, makes your videos even more relatable!
1:20 in and I love how you guys had the intro of the dream board and then you wake up excited and BELIEVING!! AMAZING!
I would love to see a show where muscle car tuners work on a JDM car and the other way around.
muscle car tuners would have a field day working on the engine haha, half the parts and much easier access. Working on V engines is a pain
You guys just knock every video out of the park. Amazing intro and wonderful cars
Thanks Merrittorious!
Two very exciting cars with very different personalities. I liked the format of this review. The performance of cars these days is so good that you don't even have to bother with head-to-head tests. Both of these cars are capable of more performance than 99% of owners will be skilled enough to fully extract, so it just comes down to personality and preference.
Pretty sure the bullitt doesn't reach peak torque at 7000 RPM, think you meant horsepower
99% of people, event the speakers, have no idea what you're talking about.
@@poolplexer you're*
You took the words right out of my mouth. Him saying that makes me question the depth of his automotive knowledge.
millerpa1000 Wrote the same comment upon hearing that lunacy Lol. And those tires have almost no sidewall lol.
I love that you guys focus so much on the DRIVING EXPERIENCE and not just numbers! Cause that’s what matters for the half billion of us that arnt racing drivers! 👌🏻👌🏻
Moment of silence for poor bulbasaur... always forgotten even in real life 😂
As a Type R owner I say buy one you won't be disappointed! I was skeptical going from an awd Subaru to a fwd car, but I have zero regrets.
Such a dope car bro. I drive an ST that doesn't look like a child drives it lol. St Boys have bad taste sometimes.
@@Challechallechalle Those are a lot of fun, and also have a lot of aftermarket support. I have been on track with a friend's modified ST and I was amazed with how well it did.
We are seriously considering purchasing a type R . Do you live in the northeast Boston area? Wondering how it would perform in snow with different tires than the high performance summer tires. I we knew maybe we would make the switch from our 2008 Subaru Legacy GT.limited.
@@lorrimiller7010 I'm in Seattle. We actually got a lot of snow this year, and the type r does fine with winter tires. The only issue was ground clearance. I wouldn't recommend driving it in more than a few inches of snow.
John's S2K ,Thank you ground clearance and fairing is the concern. Likely in New Hampshire winters the tires ,rims ,bembro brake would be an expensive mistake.
“Grow hair on your chest and do a poop in your pants”
Never thought I would hear that sentence but here we are, thanks James!
It's always exciting to watch your reviews. Living in Halton I try to see if I can figure out what roads you guys are driving lol. Keep up the great work, love the channel.
that intro made me cry. not too many people would understand the true and raw emotion of dreaming, saving up, and finally driving your goals and ambitions to redline.
currently having this exact debate. I love both, and can't decide which to get
they’re just so different and can’t go wrong with either. I have a 2018 5.0 and I don’t think I would trade it for anything. If you have no or minimal snow, mustang 100%
These are the kind of videos I subscribed for!
Yup and go trump 2020
This is a wonderful review! It reminds me of my 97 Cobra Mustang and my 08 Civic Type R. It’s good to see new revisions of those cars!
You have both?! Awesome!
I was so certain the intro gag was going to be they were in the same bed.
Such a missed opportunity.
They were in the same bed.
It’s a car review channel for Christ’s sake, not a gay porn channel.
I test drove a 2019 bullit last year. It was exhilarating. The price was a little too high at this particular dealership but hopefully I can find one this year. I miss the feeling of driving that car. I was thinking about it for weeks after that test drive.
From a fellow Ontarian, you guys do awesome reviews. You don’t bash the other company but you do pick out a few things but like any car enthusiast you generally love any muscle/sports car. I bought a 1984 Buick Regal with a 383 when i was 20, love the classic old school muscle. Looking to buy a ZL1 Camaro soon! Keep up the reviews guys!!!
How's the sound system?
I have 8 cylinders.
Favorite Canadian car channel. Sorry Straight Pipes, you've lost your throne.
DRACARIS
I unsubscribed to straight pipes just last week
@@veneelable why??
Yeah, are Sraight Pipes the guys obsessed with XM radio and visors? Never subscribed to them. But subscribed to these guys right away.
@@peterscott2662 I agree about Yuri's obsession with XM, but the visor thing is just a bit of fun. I love both channels!
While I would never choose a Civic anything over a Bullitt Mustang, I love that we live in a world where both these cars exist. As gas prices climb and electric cars become more popular every day, it’s hard not to feel like these are swan songs for an era that’s coming to an end.
Nah electric won't replace em.
Uh. Gas prices aren't going up and electric cars are only popular amongst one type of people hardcore urban folks who drive less than 80 miles a day.
So well done boys!! First time is quite a while I’m not missing Top Gear! Wonderful simple and fun just like the cars
Yea it’s obviously not close no one can get that close but it fills that hole in my heart
The Mustang oozes class. The Civic just says "boy racer."
One of your best intros, (mind you they are all great), but this is one many of your subscribers can especially relate to. Well done 👍
I personally love the look of the type R
Jonathan Losito Dougs word is law... most of the time
@Jonathan Losito Demuro? He's a knob. The angry little space ship is great.
Quote of the day,
“it’s a weird feeling to grow hair on your chest and poop in your pants at the same time”. 😂😂
Really love this channel and the community, any real car guy appreciates all classes and styles 🤘
I'm thinking about my next fun car and videos like these make it harder to choose, not easier. Still, fantastic video and highly entertaining, as always. Throttle House is now the best car channel on the internet, without a doubt.
Let’s just all agree that both cars are perfectly respectable and cool in their own way.
That intro, wow . Thank you throttle house for motivating me
Charmander or Squirtle 😍 i love that analogy. Throwback 👅
Bulbasaur is clearly the best choice.
Subbed just for that line!
had to google this went way over my head...im old..what is pokeman anyway?
henry ford Ive heard of Pokémon. Thats where my understanding ended.
Jay Slomine imagine being so uneducated thinking someone’s sexual orientation has anything to do with their interests in the far other side of their brain and even body! Imagine thinking and being so ignorant you think someone’s sexual orientation has anything to do with their personality or anything like that.
That Bullitt is so gorgeous... I honestly think it competes in looks with some of the most attractive Mustangs ever.
They both found a way to combine sportiness with everyday practicality and still make the cars fun to drive every single day
"Yeah, I'm cross shopping a civic type R and a Mustang Bullitt." Said no one ever.
Never met an Asian gym bro?
Actually I am lol. Type-R or Mustang Gt Premium?
Danny Leggo wait for the Mach 1
That front license plates are a goddamn eye sore. The province I live in we only need 1 plate.
Mr. Groovy 2 Shoes i dont care i alsays take them off
Sadly in NJ you have to have a front license plate... BUT Most car enthusiats put it on the Passenger side dash, "Like an Inspection sticker" and keep the front end looking good.
* Problem solved ;-)
What province is that
@@JerseyMikeP in italy the police can impound your car just you remove it or you change the normal position, and they do good
Cool story bro
The Mustang Bullit is pure raw and unrefined power with awesome styling... The Civic is for those that want something a bit more practical all while still being efficient, and sporty.... Both of these are great collectable cars.
Recently, I've been squirreling away money to move to Vegas when I feel like I have enough money and my current responsibilities are met. I learned about the type-r a few weeks ago and it has me questioning my goal in life.
The really funny thing about this is I grew up not a car kid but LOVED my grandpa's 2001 bullitt and to this day want one for myself. But as a teenager I grew into loving cars and fell into the JDM community and have an Si saving up for a type R
I have not even watched the video yet but THANK YOU for finally doing something like this. The CTR gets so much praise but I want to see how it compares to a proper RWD sports car. Thank you thank you THANK YOU 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I wouldn’t mind owning both. I’m a huge Ford guy but I’ve been starting to grow an appreciation and love for Honda’s. Only if Acura actually made a Type-R again for their modern vehicles.
Type s? Integra
Good video keep it up guys!💪🏻 greetings from Germany
Hey whats up from Texas! Ive heard that the Mustang is sold over there now. I remember when I was stationed in Germany. People over here think its odd when I tell them Benzs are taxis there lol. Hey drink a few of those amazing beers for me and the other car guys out there! Prosit!
@@nazz2406 💪🏻
this is easily one of the best comparisons on this channel
After printing money to maintain a Mercedes CLS 53 AMG as my daily (which I loved), I turned to what's becoming the last Amercian muscle car, the Mustang. I found a 2020 Bullitt with 6,700mi. It really can daily and tear it up. While the world turns hydrid and EV, so stands, and long live, the Coyote V8!
💪
"The clutch is forgiving, it has an anti-stall mechanism" LMAO.. only a Civic driver would say that!
Seriously an amazing intro keep it up that's what WE LOVE 😁👊
The Bullitt looks so good!
I have a Honda lawn mower! Does that count? It mulches well!
Well that would be part of the Honda Engine line on believe that is South Korean I have a built Honda clone on my mini bike 200cc and that's from South Korea but they are no doubt good engines good lawn mowers I love my mini bike I got over $1,000 a into it fast as hell 0 to 50 in 5sec no transmission
Midwest Motorsports & More I have all Honda Atvs , a Cbr 600rr & Honda fury cruiser but I don’t care much for their cars except the S2000(because it was Rwd) lol
Hahahaha I have a Honda lawn mower and and a 1997 mustang GT
Well then I guess you understand just how great Hondas lawn mowers are then!... but can't tell the difference between the Type R🤔
fail
that bulitt is raoring 🔥🔥🔥 awesome episode you guys are genius keep it up
Nürburgring Nordschleife lap times
Civic type r : 7:43.8
Mustang GT 8:07
Yeah i understand GT and bullitt are slightly different but over 20seconds time is pretty big. Plus with price range if you want to compare apple to apple it should be Civic Type R - Mustang GT.
Civic R 2020 msrp : 36,995 . Mustang GT: $35,630 . Mustang Bullitt : $46,705 .
All in all civic seems more fun to drive as daily and track. Not a huge fan of looks though.
whats great about this video is that i have a type r and one of my bestfriends has a mustang. and this video is spot on.
this car comparison is in no way crazy to me, i was actually looking for a comparison between this 2 cars, awesome vid guys and thanks for clearing a lot of doubts ! (I'm serious)
So what did you go with?
@@chrishull4293 mustang all the way
Good choice. I did too. Just got a 19 GT
I also like both. If I had the choice, I'd pick the Type R, if it also had to be my daily driver. As a 2nd or collector car, it's the Bullitt.
How would u looks in civic as mature man. Civic is for rice boys
@Eugene Shults mustang is the best selling sports car in the world more than old people are buying them
Mustang any day of the week twice on Sundays even if it was the ecoboost
This movie was pretty epic man I rate it 10 outta 10 👍🔥
What do you do when you love both Mustangs and Civics? Oh... why do you guys sit so close? Great Videos!
I love both too
After watching Steve McQueen in Bullitt, it has become my dream car since.
LMFAO
I agree! I live in the country here in Texas and there's a lot of back roads that no one hardly passes through. I just need to make sure there are no cows crossing the street and I'll be fine. It will be fun to drive even when I am just fixing to go to Walmart on a Sunday afternoon.
15:55 that was actually the funniest thing I've ever heard INSTANT SUBSCRIBE LOL
Type R Rocks 🤙🇯🇵🥶🇯🇵🤙

It makes sense because people are unique and different, it’s good that cars are unique and you have MANY options.
I know im a true car guy, love all cars but some more than others. But being a working man and far from rich i find the best bang for the buck!!! So in the market for a newer ride i looked n looked n looked and finally pulled the plug on a 2015 Cadillac ats 3.6 with the premium performance package! Triple black with oem 19 inch wheels and 33k on the clock. Sticker was $52,000 i got it Cadillac certified for $23,000! Alot of tech and runs well. Handles like on rails with the magnetic ride control suspension!!! Love it
