I don’t know how much a single view will help.. but this was one of the most honest videos I have seen in a long time.. you have a lot of courage to come out and say this and live a life of honesty. It would have been damn easy to skip over all this but you didn’t.. also it’s such a wise decision that I feel that this is just a small blip in your career and you will come through it because I can see how mature you are. I will try to watch your videos more often and I hope others too. Be strong buddy !! Some day the Bullit will be back !
Matt, you're an OG. Whenever I think about who really deserves to be in this business, and who is an auto enthusiast to their very core, you come to mind. You have a genuine passion that's so rare in this industry, where despite all the access, you've never gotten jaded and just love what you do. It's super admirable; so happy we met and became friends through this YT journey!
This is what it takes to succeed folks. Try, fail, sacrifice, push on. Keep at it, never play the victim, and don't sell out. No matter what happens, you're a hero in my book, Matt.
@MattMaranMotoring Have you tried getting sponsors like so many other utube channels? I've been watching since the Subaru days and love the content. Keep grinding and smart choice material things come and go.
sounds like good advice for say a Ukrainian soldier. Keep going forward combat contact while your dictator sniffs cocaine. How about you see the bigger picture and save yourself?
Dude I feel your pain and appreciate your transparency. You’re in transition but you will get to a place in which to purchase another one. Adult decisions often suck. Good luck to you.
This video got me choked up Matt. I can really tell just how much you loved that Bullitt Mustang. I remember being at the Detroit Auto Show in 2018 and seeing just how excited you were at the Ford booth during the reveal. It was such a special car and myself and Rob are so sorry you had to part ways with it. I hope the new owner enjoys and takes care of the car as much as you did. UA-cam can be extremely cutthroat at times with the algorithm, but I hope you never stop doing what you're doing. Keep fighting and trying new things with content to get more views and your hard work will pay off. I am extremely grateful to have met and known you for all these years, there will be a silver lining underneath all this pain and we look forward to seeing you at more future events! 😊
Keep your head up brother I promise you that this decision will be worth it in the end. I'm a true believer in karma and this decision will pay off. I've noticed between this video and the V8 Mazda Miata video is evidence that this channel is far from over and is proof that you can do this brother! I can't wait to see what's next because it'll be great! Thanks for all your hard work Matt!
Dude please don’t stop UA-cam. I’m a car salesman and I’ve referred so many of my customers to your channel for the last 2 years. Been watching you since 2019 consistently. You’re actually THE first car review channel I ever watched.
Don’t get discouraged, I whole heartedly don’t believe you need to make rapid trendy content to succeed, I’m on my 6th video in a row on electrical wiring 😂 and own cars for 10 years+ on average. I think car reviews are difficult in general because they’re largely driven analytically by the vehicle itself, and the economy right now isn’t doing too hot with high interest rates and inflation. I know you’re not a mechanic by trade, but would you consider buying a high mileage New Edge Gen Bullitt as a fixer-upper? I think a lot of people would be interested in watching you learn along the way, take your time, and give an old Bullitt new life. Mix a video in every couple car reviews and keep it casual. Also, I cry literally every single time I part ways with a car, it’s totally normal! Hang in there!
Thanks Sarah! I really don’t like working on cars unfortunately. I agree that the car market definitely isn’t helping things but car reviews still get great views elsewhere (like your channel). It just seems that most people have moved on to channels other than mine. Kudos to you for making it all work, it’s been great to see how your channel has grown!
Great advice 👍 and I love your channel! You keep things interesting and your funny. I know how to work on cars but your on a whole different level of intelligence when it comes to working on cars. It's nice to see you comment on a fellow creatures channel in support. And I know you don't do sponsorship videos but do you think it could help Matt to get some sponsors? Matt if you see this take her advice and get a fixer upper I think it would be great even if you video someone else building it part by part. To bad he lives so far away from Sarah because she could have been the builder.
Sarah i guess your time is limited in saying "giving it the beans". Get accustomed to saying "giving it the voltage" or better yet "giving it the juice".
Damn, this video is hard to watch. From the day he picked it up, drove hours back, to the first thousand miles, first oil change, we've been with him and his Bullitt through it all. Stay strong Matt! I bet you did what's best for your family and yourself. Drinks out with you on tomorrow livestream.
Agreed. You’re an excellent car reviewer I’ve followed since your suburuwrxfan days But times have changed and you’re a father and husband. If anything your family and health come first
As a Bullitt owner in his 70's what you will come to understand over time is what is most important in life will be the memories and experiences you gather over the years. In the end all we will be left with are the memories, not things...but turns out...that is all you will want and need in the end. Godspeed in your day. Greg
Hang in there Matt. I’ve always thought you were the best car reviewer on UA-cam. Don’t beat yourself up too much, I don’t think you’ve failed at all, I think you UA-cam algorithm isn’t optimized to reward longer in depth videos. You seem like a great guy, a great husband, and a great dad. That’s all that really counts.
Folks this is a real man. Making decisions to help his family. You lead by example my man. What a great chapter! It’s only been positive let’s keep it like that man! Time to move forward but don’t think you have to forget. She’ll live on within all of us. Long time fan and I feel blessed to be a part of and see how you developed as a person and your channel grow alongside my own car enthusiast life. I’ll always look forward to your videos because you have and always been top notch my man!🤟🏻
When i was sick and basically dying in hospital maybe like 8 or so years ago, your videos kept me awake and from dozing off. All I wanted was out of there and to drive my car. When you would take a car out on the backroads to see how it drives, that was the best part.
Many people are giving the wrong advice here. Been watching you for years matt but you are right the channel has been be in a decline, stagnant at best for a long while. You dont have to do what everyone else is doing, but you do have to at least try some new things and bring some new life to the channel. The same thing you’ve been trying for the last 4-5 years is just not working. We all want to see you succeed but if you keep doing the same review format and the same weekly updates, you’ll be working a regular 9-5 soon. Good luck matt dont be afraid to leave your comfort zone!
Couldn’t be further from the truth, I feel this. Inflation from 2018 to now have made things tough to live, spend, and enjoy. Money is hard to come by in this economy with everything rising.
Man this hurt to watch. I still remember the days of SubaruWRXfan and how often your video would pop up on my feed. Along with other channels like ThatDudeInBlue or SaabKyle. But lately, despite all of their uploads it’s like none of their stuff pops up in the algorithm like it used to. So don’t blame yourself Matt, this isn’t entirely your fault… The algorithm has been messing with a ton of great high subscriber count channels and I’ve been seeing this everywhere and not just here in the car space. Channels with 500k, 800k, sometimes even a million subscribers and all of them wondering why their videos only get a few thousand views… I hope things get better soon for you and others like you. Your videos have always been a good source of entertainment and information for me growing up. I’m sure one day you’ll be back in another mustang, maybe even a better one
Times are tough for everybody. I just sold my 17 camaro SS for the same reason. It hurts but breathing financially is far more important. You'll catch up. Ive watched ur videos for yrs and i subbed today. God Bless
Been a long time subscriber since the subaruwrxfan days. This is so real and I’m sorry that you’re going through this. I’ve always appreciated your down to earth nature and I hope that one day you’ll be able to move onto your next dream!
As a car enthusiast I've lived this moment several times... it hits hard for a couple days but the relief you get once it's gone you realize it was well worth getting rid it.
Met you at indy when you were there for the shell sponsored trip. It was obvious to me you were super genuine and really cared about your fans. You even did the old subaruwrxfan intro for me. Things will turn around for the channel, the algorithms will change. I've definitely been frustrated with youtube not showing me content I want to see from channels I would regularly watch. It sucks that the formula that's hot right now isn't really your thing, but I'd consider you among the best car reviewers on the platform. You bring so much charm and genuine excitement to your reviews.
I completely agree with this. Without question my favorite car channel and the first place I go to see new model reviews. I canNOT figure out why there aren’t 100K’s or even M’s of views every vid. 🤔
Because times have changed. People are into racing, performance, dragy runs, mods, and if you don't wanna move with the times you get left behind. Most successful car channels on UA-cam are racing and racing entertainment.
Honestly it's not Matt - most 'car' guys / people are turned off by the never ending change of the car industry to automatic, hybrid... electric.... and / or SUVs.... sure there are people who want those things, but most who are passionate about performance cars are feeling left behind by the ridiculous push to both SUVs and cars that 'seem' environmentally friendly. Most car news is just frankly, boring these days.. and it's not Matt's fault.
Such an honest admission Highly appreciated You are a class act and you started me into watching utube car reviews You are not a failure but a beautiful open person Hugs From West Chester Pa
Don't think of the downtrend as your failure. The car content market is saturated and less viewership doesn't mean you're a failure. Long form podcasts suck up potential viewers and cars are losing their cultural importance more each year. There are strong headwinds out there and they say nothing about you personally. Please think about this challenge positively and be curious about what the future will bring. It will be an interesting journey! A chance for further growth.
I agree. The market is saturated with content creators and podcasters right now. I appreciate your introspection, but a lot of your condition is out of your control. Hopefully, there are employment opportunities in the auto industry if UA-cam continues to decline.
As a dad myself who got rid of his 2011 Mustang GT, I can totally relate! It's unfortunate, but it's a mature decision. Love to see how real you are! Keep at it! There will always be better days!
I'm so sorry, Matt. I know how hard this must have been. Don't call yourself a failure, man. You're putting your family first. You can always get another Bullit someday.
When you did that last pull…and watching your emotions totally got me. I know that feeling. And I commend you for being transparent about the UA-cam lifestyle that almost everyone wants to have. I’ve been a fan and been watching you since subaruwrxfan days. You’re awesome Matt. Keep your head up
Hey dude. I agree with your mentality of buying a car with the goal of keeping it forever and developing a special connection with the car. I hope that UA-cam will begin to pickup for you again. That V8 Miata video that you made was awesome!!!
Thanks Matt, you inspired me to buy my Bullitt just over 4 years ago, (albeit a black one with Recaro’s) but your enthusiasm and just being a genuine decent bloke is a pleasure to watch whatever you’re driving. Very sad to see you’ve had to part with her and you’re always welcome to drive mine if you’re ever in the UK! All the best for the future!
Matt. Been watching for years. The reason your videos fall short versus in the past, is because they don’t have a niche. Back in the day you were one of the only reviewers. But now UA-cam car reviews have become the norm. There are dozens of reviewers. And the big ones have something special. A reason to watch in addition to others. Redline is thorough and does the 0-60 times. Throttle House is funny and they are both very good drivers. Savagegeese typically glazes over the interior exterior and focuses on the mechanical. Forrest does the shorts. Alex is very detailed. Kirk does the news with tons of videos and the spreadsheets. And all of them have professional intros etc. You already have the manufacturer relationships and the sub count. You need something that no one else does. Get a cool intro, maybe a quick compilation of your acceleration reactions. Then do something no one else does. My vote would be the electronics. NO ONE focuses on the screens or the ins and outs of them. Going through all of the menus so people could see what it’s like in detail would be a reason to watch your TRD Pro Tacoma video after I’ve already watched 4 others. Also drivers assistance. They are all different. For example, Ford doesn’t let you lane center without ACC on. Honda does. So does Hyundai/Kia. Going in detail about the drivers assistance stuff and seeing them in use on the highway would be something a ton of people want to see and no one else does. With screens and drivers assistance being integral and critical parts of cars these days, people want to see how they work, the menus, etc. Those things can make or break a purchase. These are just some thoughts from a long time viewer. Hopefully you find them helpful. Good luck.
Find niche, sure. Screens & driver auto-correct systems? Yuck. That would turn me away. I hate screens. But I do need to know how to turn driver autocorrect systems OFF. (Traction control, , stability contro, ABS, and rev match are nice, though!)
@@josephpepper3087 obviously he can’t please everyone. However there are a ton of people that want to know how those things look and function. Especially for cars whose screens have mostly replaced physical buttons. And the drivers assistance stuff is huge. They are all different. And no one covered these things.
@@typesredline True. Sometimes these functions can be a reason to not buy a vehicle. In the case of the '24 Mustang Ford was stupid. Older people don't want big screens and complex menus. They want buttons! Guess who wants and can afford higher-end Mustangs? Older people! (I'm under 50 btw) I hate the '24 Mustang interior and it's a deal breaker for me. I don't like how heavy the Mustang (I have a '19 Bullitt and have been a road course with it) even in daily driving. I need a lighter, sharper handling car. But...the Bullitt cabin is a nice place to be for my long commute. Decent sound system (Harmon Kardon or whatever it's called) and great exhaust notes. And big crumple zones....
Matt i’ve been watching since the old subaruwrx days. You are genuinely such a good dude. Always happy, passionate, and the fact that you’re doing what you love just makes it that much better. Don’t feel bad about crying over a car, i cried over selling my old Jeep. You’re doing great. Keep it up 👍🏻
Bro you are hands down my favorite car reviewer. Keep your head up though bro. It’s going to work in your favor! Last July my wife abandoned me and our two kids and things seemed to fall apart but I kept trusting God and doing my best. I had to sell my hellcat for my lawyer and that was the cherry on top of the crap Sunday. Things are WAY better for me now though. I even ended up getting a 22 GT500 that I never thought I could get. To me the GT500 would always be out of reach and just a fantasy. The 500 was a new one the dealership never sold with every feature I ever wanted and I got it at a cheaper price than I ever could’ve imagined and I love this car more than the hellcat. Also I’m killing it as a single father and yes it’s frustrating but it will work out. Tough times don’t last but tough people do.
Hey Matt, been a long time fan of the channel since SubaruWRXFan days and really related to you. I love mustangs and 2 years ago bought my dream spec performance pack in black with red interior. After driving it for 2 summers I realized the same thing. Channel isn't justifying such an expensive toy. I recently bought a 2006 RSX Type S that i'm slowly building up and tbh with you it's been more fun than my stock mustang ever was! Consider getting a Miata or something! So much fun for the money and you can slowly build it whenever it's feasible! Good luck man!
*Not gonna lie I really thought this was an April Fool's video for a good 2-3 seconds until I realized it's May.* As men we have to make tough decisions to do what's right for us and our family, so I totally respect your decision to sell the car and I hope this channel grows in the near future. The economy is definitely not helping any so I'm sure that was also a big part of your decision. Prices going up, wages not. Been watching this channel for over 11 years now. Continuously wishing you the best, Matt.
This is real life right here. We all hit hard times. Mad respect for being honest and truthful. Especially for your family. Recently i had to sell my S197 that I enjoyed last 9 years. I know the hard feeling of having to let something go. Always remember, this is NOT failure. This is just a bump in the road or maybe time for a change.
"Selling this car is a result of my own failures". Matt - don't look at it as a failure. This is an opportunity to explore other growth routes to monetize your dream job. I know you feel terrible but you do have a loyal following and you'll bounce back.
It's completely ok to feel emotional about letting go of something that meant so much to you Matt. You're not giving up - that's ultimately what matters. Keep on fighting that good fight bud. There's a lot of people out here that are too scared to chase after their dreams but you're out here doing it and on your own terms too.
😢 Only gave this video a thumbs up because I’m a supporter of the channel but the topic is very heartbreaking. Sorry that it came to this Matt. I never wanted you to make this video. I’m thankful that you were able to experience your dream car, as we all should. Better things are in your future man 👍🏼
I understand it's just a car. For us enthusiasts, it's more than just a car. It can symbolize a ticket to freedom. For as long as time or money doesn't get in the way.
@MattMaranMotoring I'll continue to watch your videos and root for you. Your editing doesn't get old to me but I thought about what if you reshaped your imaging. Show different graphics but the same sorta video format? Maybe go to more cars and coffees? I'm pretty sure the family life thing is off limits (which is totally understandable). Just a couple ideas
I’ve been a subscriber since the BRZ days, and i know who much this car means to you and I’m absolutely gutted for you. But big respect for the honesty and transparency, it rare in today’s world. I don’t see it as ‘Goodbye’ more as a ‘See you Soon’. Tough decision but keep at it Matt, you’re definitely not a failure…more of an inspiration ❤
I started watching Matt my first year at college in 2015 where I spent most of my time just daydreaming a life with the cars I love. I came here to imagine what it is like with certain cars. Whichever car I was thinking, Matt's got it. The professionalism of clean camera work, language, script, genuine reaction and unique formula made Matt stand out among car channels, so I binge watched Matt's video over and over and over for years. Been away for some time and I just got back, did a marathon of Matt's videos that I missed and just found out about the car Matt love so much, and it reminds me of my own life and the car that I own and love. Matt's channel made me work harder and dream harder. It put a smile on my face at the end of this video seeing that Bullitt is heading towards Utah, which is the place of my dream, I'm working hard to move to, the place that I dream driving my dream cars around. The Bullitt is in good hand and good place!!!!! And we will all be too. A small setback is for a major comeback.
You have to make the right decision for you and your family. I have a ton of respect for that. You clearly enjoyed your dream car, something few get to experience in their lifetime. Love your channel and the genuine passion you have for cars. Keep pushing, Matt!
Been watching since the 350z review. Absolutely love watching your videos. Personally I love the drive and chats. The personal stuff. Would love a series on the next car you buy next. The decision behind it all etc. keep it up Matt.
You are a huge reason I got into cars in my mid 20s and hoping to buy one soon! You are an inspiration to many, doing what YOU love and being yourself. The views may not be where they used to but you have left your mark for car youtubers and you always brighten up our days! You are not a failure.
Sad to hear! It's definitely a strange time for youtubers. A whole lot have seen their viewership collapse, for no other apparent reason than the algo has shifted from nudging viewers toward the channels they subscribe to, to nudging them toward AI generate "suggestions" for max shock effect and viewer retention. It's made it really hard to maintain a tight synergy with one's subscribers. Best of luck! You're defintiely integral part of the car community! Cheers! G
Matt this video hit hard and very relatable. I have a lot of respect for you making this video and highlighting some of the realities that we face in everyday life. That forever car will come along once again and I have definitely appreciated all the times you said “so let’s turn onto this backroad..” I hope to hear it more!
Matt, I have followed and subscribed to you since 2014 and you will always be known to me as Subaruwrxfan and your intros with NCS songs which made me make a playlist for them. You taught me how to drive stick with your BRZ video before Matt Farah made his. You make an excellent point about the 1000hp build videos. I compare yourself with UA-camrs like Tj Hunt and I miss his old videos. You are true to yourself Matt. Be proud 🥹
Had to sell my 19 5.0 for the very same reason. It was very expensive garage decoration. Kept my stinger as my daily driver. Things happen, life happens. Wish you the best!
As a former Bullitt owner myself and not having a mustang any longer, I completely understand the emotions. Thanks for sharing and being willing to show the emotions that many of us have had when selling our favorite cars due to life.
You've inspired me since I was a teenager during the WRX days. Don't let it detract from the fact you've always made great content and have an amazing personality that's brought you so many subscribers and good things. UA-cam wants to mold you into being flashy or extreme, and it's unfortunate that an algorithm really controls the spirit of your channel - but I'm glad you've never let that spirit die. Even if we've reached the end of the book of the Bullitt, there's always gratitude left that the story happened - and the opportunity left to begin another. I hope you continue to enjoy doing what you do as long as you choose to, and that nothing holds you or your family down financially. You're the man Matt. Lot of respect.
I never expected to see this video Matt and I am so sorry you had to make this decision. I’m writing this comment right after you did your last red line run because I couldn’t take it anymore. I know this decision couldn’t have been an easy one, but I think down the road you’ll look back and see while it hurt, it was the right call for the time. Your videos have always been a joy to watch. They inspired me to believe that I could own cars that I loved, to get involved in car culture and to even pursue a career centered around cars. From a forever subaruwrxfan supporter, we’re all here for you in this tough time. Stay strong!
From what I’ve noticed, UA-cam just stopped putting your videos on my list. I ended up looking up your channel on my subscription list recently just to see the videos I’ve missed.
My decision to buy my Bullitt was because of your videos when you originally purchased it. It gave me the same thrill. Like you - I rarely drive my Bullitt (it has less than 3600 miles)- I thought about selling it but after watching this video- it brought back the same memories of why I bought it and I have taken down the listing. WHEN you get back on your feet - I would love to sell you mine because it deserves to be yours. Ironically- my Bullitt is in Utah!
Matt, I have been watching your videos for a while. Since 2013- when the BRZ videos started rolling in. Your heart has never changed, you've always been an A1 person, delivering quality content for us- and these are videos we will never forget man. I am sorry to see the Bullitt go. Kudos for making the financially responsible decision. You're not a failure man, not for a second. I don't think an individual who puts their family first, is a failure in my eyes. I'm sorry man, giving you a virtual hug. and wishing you, and your family the best. We are here for you, whatever direction you take, I hope it is the best for you, truly.
Hey Matt, I don't know if you remember me, but you did the review on my 2016 Focus RS. It's been pretty awesome to be able to watch you evolve over the years. I know that I'm a random internet dude, but from one father/family man to another, you got this! Just remember that, while some decisions made for the family may be bitter now, eventually you'll look back at this moment from a vantage point that's much higher than where you are now.
My younger brother: You have brought so much joy to guys like me who've watched you for years, going on journeys with you and hearing you laugh and get the huge giggles when doing accelerations. It totally sucks to see that the youtube algorithm has not made things better for you and your family. It would hurt anyone going through the loss that you are, as a car guy like us. But allow me to tell you this. I've been in your position already a couple of times. These incredibly angular cross roads can be very powerful for personal and financial growth. Sadly we always lose a massive level of that something that we love at the time of pressing the brakes, but later on you'll make the observation that you did exactly as it was supposed to be. When you get there, you'll know it and recognize it, and what you've lost will re-appear and ask you if you want it back. I know this sounds absolutely stupid or incredible but it's so true. I was told this and didn't believe it at the time, but now I know it's been true, twice. I'm confident enough to let you know about this. Meanwhile, the universe has presented this opportunity for you to focus on your path that you want to chose. None will be wrong, but different. Don't think about which one you want too much. Pick one and go; at first driving at night, it will be hard to see your destination, as your head-lights illuminate only a short part of the road never travelled. Take things 1 stop sign at a time, and as the giant entrance gates become clearer from far away, never lose focus of them no matter what the daily loser demons are trying to do to distract you. Next thing you know, you're looking back and smiling about all the awesome experiences during the trip. Most however do not take the trip, and hence never get to any destinations for that matter. For all the fans: 1- If you are not subscribed to this absolutely amazing channel, please do so, but firstly make sure you have a youtube account, or else you won't be able to. 2- I ask you kindly, turn off your ad blockers. This is utterly disrespectful to channels that bring you so much joy. Matt has brought so many of us good times by watching his car reviews over the years. Not only that he deserves a hell of a lot of money for what he does, but it's not a big deal to watch a few ads during his show. Cheers and looking forward to more journeys ma man. Let's take this road and see how it handles! M
much respect. I purchased a 23 f150 5.0 6 months ago. things just went south with my job. Im taking one last trip with my family this weekend with it then selling it Monday. It sucks, but family comes first. keep your head up
One thing I will say that I always loved with your videos is seeing your joy just after “turning onto this straight road here and let’s see how it does”. That joy you emitted was contagious every time. I’ve watched your videos since I was in high school and now I’m getting close to 30 and want to get into performance cars, largely thanks to you. Keep your head up, Matt!
I’m so sad to see this happen. I think you’re one of the best car reviewers on UA-cam and I appreciate your in-depth reviews and genuine reactions. Your passion for reviewing cars is palpable and your demeanor and presentation style couldn’t be better. I bought my 2021 Veloster N 6MT because of your review. I respect your decision and I sincerely hope that your channel gets the views it deserves. I hope that you’re able to buy your dream car again someday. I’m happy to support in any way that I can and I am wishing all the best for you and your family.
So sorry, Matt! I love your Bullitt. I’m attached to my ‘15 GT as well (I’ve had it since new). I don’t get to drive it as much as I should either. I’ll keep following your channel - you do phenomenal reviews and are an honest person. See you later for your live steam.
That was hard to watch. I had to get rid of my Mustang a couple of years ago due to budget reasons as well. It was hard, so I totally understand your feelings. Hopefully something better comes along in the future! Keep your head up and keep working hard. Things WILL turn around.
A very honest take which is quite frankly surprising. No sugar coating BS. We still appreciate you and wish you the best. You’ll figure everything out.
The pain you are feeling will go away but you will keep the good memories. In 2020 I went from 3 sports cars (a daily and 2 fun cars) and decided to make a change and simplify my life. I sold 2 cars, moved to a new house and I don’t regret it at all. It was stressful trying to keep up with 3 vehicles, an old house, a job, a social life, aging parents, etc. And I don’t have any kids. I’m happier as a one car person and I don’t even have the sporty car anymore, now that I’m 50 I want comfort and luxuries.
A video I was hoping would never come. Like many, I never understood why this channel never blew up given the quality of the reviews. I’ve owned for 7 years and added more than 80k miles to an AP1 S2000 and a big reason as to why I bought one was because of Matt’s review. Was also fortunate enough to meet (with said S2000) him and Jason Fenske (and his S2000) at one of the Shell meetups a few years back.
I've been watching your reviews since the Subaruwrxfan days, and I've enjoyed your sincerity in each and every review. I was in your place a couple of years back where I had to get rid of the vehicle you love for financial reasons. The result, getting rid of your expensive car, is a first world problem, but the cause, being the result of your personal actions, is something most people can understand. Hang in there, man. I'm praying that you can find the wisdom to make the best decision for your family and that your channel finds an opportunity to "turn onto this back road here."
Matt, if you see this, dont think of it as a failure that you had to sell it. You owned and drove your dream car, not many people can say they got a chance to own their dream car even for a few years. There will be a time down the road that there will be another one waiting for you.
Sorry to hear this, Matt. Sucks to have to get rid of something you like so much but you're doing so for the right reasons. I hope you can manage to pick one up again some day. Good luck, man.
Hey man, you might not read this but don't be ashamed or feel bad to venture elsewhere man. Your videos will always be here, and you can always post a few videos a month if need be. I've been following for a while and I beleiveeee (not 100%) you have your degree, and this UA-cam channel to show for yourself, and you seem SUPER professional, you never know man. Apply for some jobs that pay super well that you potentially show interest in, and re-invest that money into your life and get back in a nice car (: I understand keeping the dream alive man, but we would rather see a slow down in videos right now, while you find a job to support yourself, family, and a nice car, slowly make more content with the car you buy and maybe spend the weekends or even work part-time or a remote job, something more flexible with hours to where you can film a quick review of a private owned car for a few hours, maybe specialize a few hours on the weekend (I know- busy on top of family time) then if/when the channel pops back up to where you want it- consider maybe quitting that job (after saving a big cushion incase the videos *unfortunately* don't do as well, etc.* Live streams on the weekend, maybe change the car news to Saturday instead of Friday, and a review or 2 a week/ 2 weeks/ month. All while having supplemental income to invest into the future, car, family, etc. Once again, I 1000% understand keeping the dream alive Matt, I really do. But like someone else said, selling the Bullitt seems like putting a bandage on the wound, and in a year or 2 when the $40k runs out, what will you do then? I mean this in the nicest way possible man, truly. You mentioned you're trying to save the "sinking ship" ( I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS MAN I REALLY DO) maybe instead of the ship sinking THEN looking for a job, maybe take a little break, or go part-time with UA-cam, and work a part-time or full-time gig to bring the financials up and even hey man- who knows if whatever job you get next can even help the channel. Automotive journalism, maybe work for a higher up in one of the car brands you get press vehicles for, etc. Don't be afraid to reach out man. It's a tough time, you might not want to hear this man- but I'd want someone to tell me man. We'd hate to see you try to save the channel, and you get so burnt out and upset that it didn't work out (I HOPE this does not happen- but you never know man.) that you end up leaving for good, and deleting the channel and you go radio silent and we never hear from you again- and then you end up working a full-time job anyways, and you lost your channel, etc. We'd much rather see you put this channel on "hold" or "part-time"and you experiment with a good profession like I said, you work for 447,000 people right now, you provide us with KICK ASS CONTENT at $0 for us. What makes you think an employer WON'T want to see this? Dude, if any potential employer takes a look at this or your social media, you're golden. You have nothing bad to hide. You have no click bait or inappropriate content, ESPECIALLY no reckless driving (cough cough every other automotive UA-camr filming in "Mexico") you built this man. You built this on your own man. You are not a failure, all I'm saying my man- maybe your calling is elsewhere and this can always be a hobby or side project. We would MUCH rather prefer to see you occasionally, than never at all. Many UA-camrs are making a new channel too, maybe try and venture into a new industry man, I know you said you love reviewing cars, but I'm sorry man, maybe life has another calling for you brother, truly. Don't be afraid to swim in new waters Matt- you will always have this channel, and taking a break or going part-time is perfectly fine with us. There's no shame, or embarrassment brother, especially no judgement. The world has countless offers, and as a business owner myself, seeing a respectfully, family driven, hard-working individual like yourself is what we need. Godspeed brother. If you were closer to me, I'd offer you a job, but there are many opportunities where you are at man. Be the writer of your own story man.
Matt- the same thing happened to me with my 2021 WRX STI. I only got to enjoy it for about a year, and then there were significant changes that happened in my wife and I's life and I had to get rid of it… I had planned to put 300,000 miles on it and keep it until the wheels fell off, I loved it in stock form, and was never going to modify other than a muffler and better soundsystem. It was my dream car and I totally feel you. I just have a Honda Civic Sport now which I love and it gets me through. Hang on though, this really difficult change will give you the room that you need in life to keep making new adventures!
I really hope the fan who buys this, keeps in good condition, and sells it back to Matt at a fair price once his financial situation hopefully improves. This hurts, but we all understand it.
You were my first and favorite car channel when I first got into cars… one car enthusiast to another I know the pain you must be going through, many people won’t get it. with that being said this is not the end, strategies, come up with new cool ideas that are genuine to you and I promise the views will come in. Keep pushing
A rare view of honesty in a world full of fake wealth. Tough but understandable decision.
Well said.
Props
When buying a car you have to think long term.
Good luck and hope you find yourself in a much better position in the future.
Thanks man, I really appreciate that 🙏
@MattMaranMotoring Have you tried getting sponsors like so many other utube channels? I've been watching since the Subaru days and love the content. Keep grinding and smart choice material things come and go.
sounds like good advice for say a Ukrainian soldier. Keep going forward combat contact while your dictator sniffs cocaine. How about you see the bigger picture and save yourself?
Yeah but I would never sell my dream car. Not for anybody or anything.
Dude I feel your pain and appreciate your transparency. You’re in transition but you will get to a place in which to purchase another one. Adult decisions often suck. Good luck to you.
Stay strong, Matt. You are an Icon and we are all rooting for you. Proud of all you have accomplished, stick with it! -Tommy
You guys seem like great guys and I have enjoyed you’re channel for many years.
Thanks so much Sofyan! I really appreciate you 🙏
Keep your head up brother I promise you that this decision will be worth it in the end. I'm a true believer in karma and this decision will pay off. I've noticed between this video and the V8 Mazda Miata video is evidence that this channel is far from over and is proof that you can do this brother! I can't wait to see what's next because it'll be great! Thanks for all your hard work Matt!
Well said!
This doesn't make you a failure. This makes you a real relatable person who's making a hard choice instead of an easy one.
You kept the car longer than 85% of youtubers would. This is still a win.
Good point about the new edge style. They still have a huge following, tons of mod parts available, easy to work on.
It was a surprise seeing you here Sarah!
You got this Matt! Cars come and go, but Matt Maran Motoring isn't going anywhere!
Thanks Kirk, I really appreciate the support!
Thanks for your support all these years and good idea, I think a live toast tomorrow would be appropriate.
I have actually re-watched that video a few times. Matt you are a genuine guy and that what we like about you.
Agreed. You’re an excellent car reviewer I’ve followed since your suburuwrxfan days
But times have changed and you’re a father and husband.
Greg
Thats great advice. I respect older people so much for their wisdom.
I agree with this a lot
Thanks Zach I really appreciate that.
Far from the best.
@@danielc1417you’re a joke
This is what matters most! Keep up the great reviews Matt!
I’ll always look forward to your videos because you have and always been top notch my man!🤟🏻
Sorry to hear this Matt. Totally understandable. Keep at it my friend.
Thanks Nick.
Nick, my other favorite UA-cam creator!
“It’s not gone, it went to a farm in Utah and is running wild with the other mustangs.”
When i was sick and basically dying in hospital maybe like 8 or so years ago, your videos kept me awake and from dozing off. All I wanted was out of there and to drive my car. When you would take a car out on the backroads to see how it drives, that was the best part.
I’m so glad the videos helped you through that, and I hope you’re doing much better now!
He’s gotta make the video’s appealing and try new formats. Get new equipment too
His car reviews are boring no wonder the channel is dying. He needs to make new vlogs, change the formats, cheap car stuff
You're not a failure. Times are tough for everyone.
❤❤❤
Couldn’t be further from the truth, I feel this. Inflation from 2018 to now have made things tough to live, spend, and enjoy. Money is hard to come by in this economy with everything rising.
This is why we love bro, he's always been genuine ever since he was SubaruWRXfan! ❤
When one door closes, another door will open. A good man makes sacrifices for his family no matter how much it hurts. Best of luck to you sir.
Sorry to hear Matt. Been around since the old subaruwrxfan days.
Thank you for the longtime support 🙏
Subaruwrxfan said at 800mph. The good old days
@@MattMaranMotoring ditto, long hauler here!
Channels with 500k, 800k, sometimes even a million subscribers and all of them wondering why their videos only get a few thousand views…
I hope things get better soon for you and others like you.
God Bless
Sorry to hear that you had to do the same, and I hope you find yourself in better times soon. Thank you for subscribing 🙏
Time's are tough? Oh we're still not in a recession just wait for the real Times are tough to begin with
I hope nothing happens to my baby boy. I hope to pass it on to my future kids.
I’ll never understand why you don’t get enough attention on your videos, I look forward to them time and time again, sucks it had to come to this 🙁
Thank you 🙏
IT'S THE DAMN ALGORITHM
You’re one of the most honest car reviewers out there… keep doing what you love, that’s the best reward!
Such an honest admission
Highly appreciated
You are a class act and you started me into watching utube car reviews
You are not a failure but a beautiful open person
Hugs
From West Chester Pa
Thank you David 🙏
Always tough to let a car go, but in the end it's just a car. You made the right choice. Let me know if you ever need anything. - Ryan
Thank you, I really appreciate the offer and your Super Thanks! I hope you continue to enjoy yours for a long time to come!
I literally got goosebumps and teared up on his final acceleration…
Love you Matt… “you play the game for the game’s sake”
(I'm under 50 btw)
I hate the '24 Mustang interior and it's a deal breaker for me.
Appreciate you Matt! And everything you’ve done. The OGs are still here supporting. ❤
I really appreciate your support 🙏
Sorry to hear about your rough times but that’s inspiring to hear that you’ve come out better now, big kudos to you and thank you for your support!
*Not gonna lie I really thought this was an April Fool's video for a good 2-3 seconds until I realized it's May.*
As men we have to make tough decisions to do what's right for us and our family, so I totally respect your decision to sell the car and I hope this channel grows in the near future. The economy is definitely not helping any so I'm sure that was also a big part of your decision. Prices going up, wages not. Been watching this channel for over 11 years now. Continuously wishing you the best, Matt.
Thank you 🙏
This is real life right here.
You’re the last of the OG car review guys left. Everyone else sold out. Good luck keep grinding
"Selling this car is a result of my own failures". Matt - don't look at it as a failure. This is an opportunity to explore other growth routes to monetize your dream job. I know you feel terrible but you do have a loyal following and you'll bounce back.
Well said. You’re not failing. Things are changing and now you’re making the change. Don’t be discouraged, Dad!
It's completely ok to feel emotional about letting go of something that meant so much to you Matt. You're not giving up - that's ultimately what matters. Keep on fighting that good fight bud. There's a lot of people out here that are too scared to chase after their dreams but you're out here doing it and on your own terms too.
Man the ending was hard to watch, hope you get back in a Bullitt very soon
😢 Only gave this video a thumbs up because I’m a supporter of the channel but the topic is very heartbreaking. Sorry that it came to this Matt. I never wanted you to make this video. I’m thankful that you were able to experience your dream car, as we all should.
Better things are in your future man 👍🏼
I understand it's just a car. For us enthusiasts, it's more than just a car. It can symbolize a ticket to freedom. For as long as time or money doesn't get in the way.
Well said.
Keep the VIN somewhere safe. Track where it is from time to time. Perhaps one day she'll return to you :)
I know someone who named her foxbody Boomerang because she found it and bought it back 13 years after she sold it.
Last night on the live stream Matt said that the new owner gave him first rights of refusal if he sells it in the future.
This
I started watching Matt my first year at college in 2015 where I spent most of my time just daydreaming a life with the cars I love.
Thank you 🙏
I am sorry it has come to this Matt, you still have a lot of us rooting for you!
Thanks so much Greg!
Been watching since the 350z review. Absolutely love watching your videos. Personally I love the drive and chats. The personal stuff. Would love a series on the next car you buy next. The decision behind it all etc. keep it up Matt.
Never give up.
Never stop dreaming.
Never stop believing.
You will have your Bullitt back one day, rest assured.
Cheers! G
Thanks man.
Matt this video hit hard and very relatable. I have a lot of respect for you making this video and highlighting some of the realities that we face in everyday life. That forever car will come along once again and I have definitely appreciated all the times you said “so let’s turn onto this backroad..” I hope to hear it more!
thanks for being so open on video about your love for this car, definitely will be keeping a closer tab on your posts going forward
Thank you, I really appreciate that 🙏
I understand crying bro it's nothing bad
You are still the best
Thanks, sorry you had to do the same.
Welcome back! UA-cam highly favors recent watch history now for the algorithm’s suggestions, it sucks.
Thanks Matt
Thank you for the Super Thanks! I really appreciate it!
Hey Matt, it was a great run with the Bullitt. McQueen will forgive you, he loved his family too. Hopefully, the channel bounces back.
Thank you.
Sincere, heartfelt, poignant effort Matt. Best of luck with the channel and whatever direction in life you choose!
Thank you so much for the comment and the generous Super Thanks as well! I really appreciate it!
I’m sure I can speak for the majority of these comments but we will be here to support the channel going forward! 🤝🏻
Matt,
I have been watching your videos for a while.
For all the fans:
1- If you are not subscribed to this absolutely amazing channel, please do so, but firstly make sure you have a youtube account, or else you won't be able to.
It sucks, but family comes first. keep your head up
That really sucks, Matt. I’m so sorry you’re going through all of this right now. Praying things get better for you.
Thanks man.
Thank you Garrett, I really appreciate your support! 🙏
So sorry, Matt! I love your Bullitt. I’m attached to my ‘15 GT as well (I’ve had it since new). I don’t get to drive it as much as I should either. I’ll keep following your channel - you do phenomenal reviews and are an honest person. See you later for your live steam.
Been around since the old subaruwrxfan days and never leaving!!
That was hard to watch. I had to get rid of my Mustang a couple of years ago due to budget reasons as well. It was hard, so I totally understand your feelings. Hopefully something better comes along in the future! Keep your head up and keep working hard. Things WILL turn around.
Couldn’t watch after about 30 seconds. Wishing you “The Best” Matt.
Thanks Jorge
Sorry to hear about your channel issues - I'm a long-time viewer, really appreciate your vids. Thanks!
I'm sorry you have to sell it. I'm glad I'm not the only one who cries over vehicles. 🥺😢😭
2022 porsche macan GTS is the perfect car for you
Thanks for the honesty Matt. Still remember when you were Subaruwrx fan. Keep it going dude
Thanks!
You are the most relatable car reviewer for me on YT. This video teared me up. Thanks for all the reviews.
Wow thank you so much for your insanely generous Super Thanks! I'm so glad you've enjoyed the reviews and I really appreciate the support!
Sorry to hear this, Matt. Sucks to have to get rid of something you like so much but you're doing so for the right reasons. I hope you can manage to pick one up again some day. Good luck, man.
Thank you 🙏
awww man, "one last drive" is such a tough moment. Thanks for sharing.
Apply for some jobs that pay super well that you potentially show interest in, and re-invest that money into your life and get back in a nice car (: I understand keeping the dream alive man, but we would rather see a slow down in videos right now, while you find a job to support yourself, family, and a nice car, slowly make more content with the car you buy and maybe spend the weekends or even work part-time or a remote job, something more flexible with hours to where you can film a quick review of a private owned car for a few hours, maybe specialize a few hours on the weekend (I know- busy on top of family time) then if/when the channel pops back up to where you want it- consider maybe quitting that job (after saving a big cushion incase the videos *unfortunately* don't do as well, etc.*
Live streams on the weekend, maybe change the car news to Saturday instead of Friday, and a review or 2 a week/ 2 weeks/ month.
Love this
@@Mark_G77 Just trying my best. But I really, really wish this channel success!
