I’ve done this to a 65 mate you made work for your self, I left wind screen in place, cut a line 3 inches onto the roof cut top of rear guard leave 1/2 inche along top of guard along back, cut 45degree into trunk, now all that’s holding it is inside the car drill out welds, I had roof off in four hours on my own, I brought rear sails rear window tray,,new roof new trunk, boom , trim front edge of roof so it slips under 3 inch section above screen line up body lines tack with few self tapers, from inside the car you can’t see any old roof, rear sail will fit under half inch lip tap them rear window panel tap in, I fitted new rear glass, sounds easy fucken was, didn’t mention fitt frame rail connectiors first, there is very little difference between notch back fast back, they were built simple , I started with a clean coupe, pleased I did
Iv been doing it this way for lots of 67-68 and I always replace it all with new metal rather than using the old steel, that’s the reason for it, check out latest video on the car you see what I mean but yeah it would work 65-70 the same I would think.
It’s amazing how flimsy these cars are, all the cars here now have added 1” tubing from inner wheel house up the b pillar into roof rail for added strength.
@@1194video really enjoyed your videos, for a long time there was very little on you tube about these conversions,I’ve enjoyed this project and I’m weeks away from completion, keep up the good work, I’m based in New Zealand we love American cars here , I’ve also a 65 k code gt fast back mustang I imported from the us 2018, and an era gt40, I’d like a 67 notch back to fast back project now, cheers for now
In part 1 I was like, "oh yeh, that's a nice straight platform to start with." @ 6:25 ...And then he stripped the entire thing down to just the frame rails!!! 😳😳😳
Those old Mustangs were notorious or rusting out at the firewall. I don' think Ford expected them to still be on the road in 2020...and didn't galvanize any of the metal on them. Great video.
8:00 why are the front frame rails not connected to the rear one? I don't understand why did they designed like that. Is it really just floor pan holding it all together?
How much did all the sheet metal cost to get your body back in order? Was it much less than buying one of the Dynacorn fully assembled body shells? Thanks! Looking forward to your next video on this. 👍👍
My Brother is what you can call a vendor so I got the parts at cost so rather than paying 800 for the Eleanor hood it is 499 at cost so I think parts total came to 5500 on that parts order
Ross Templeton 1 second ago There is nothing left as far as structure & stability? Are you purchasing all new part or using parts from a wrecking yard fastback . Its like you are building the car from the assembly line, just like the workers at the factory. Most vids I've seen of people doing this are just replacing the coupe roof with a fastback roof & the trunk area supports
@@1194video ahhh. Ok, thanks. I’ve seen a few of them where people brace the whole thing before cutting it apart to keep everything square. I bought a ‘66 to convert, but apparently, it’s had a few articles written about it because of some Coca Cola door tag, so everyone made me feel guilty about chopping it up lol. So my wife told me to buy a second one and do the 66 for her. Long story short, I have a ‘67(which is what I wanted, anyway) that I’m going to convert soon...
You do t have to brace it when you have jugs that all the rails mount in to ensure it’s square. Waste of time bracing. Those tend to move and you end up with a twisted shell with nothing lining up.

@@andyearl6784 you should upload some videos of the car, they are very popular here in the states.
Did you buy the entire swap kit or individual pieces

The side rockers are basically what holds everything, it is very weak until all welded together though

Ross Templeton everything is replaced with new parts from dynacorn
Is there areas on you didn’t brace it before cutting it apart?
Not to cut it apart no but do use a few jiggs to secure it in place before any welding is done to make certain it’s square

@@1194video I just watched them all-great info. I’ve never done one, but I feel like it’s not something beyond my ability now! So thanks for that!
Why have it blasted if you where going to cut it all off?
It was blasted before I purchased it. I bought it when it was already in primer
I've got a 68 coupe i want to do the conversion to as well. I'd like to do the bullitt tribute mustang. They just look so good
I converted my 1968 coup for $6k. Just made my first video about it. ua-cam.com/video/LHAEDTKOsgI/v-deo.html
Good work keep at it
Holy jumping Enchiladas that is a lot of rust and cancer that's going to look so much more better after you're done with it
How much this convertion?
It depends on what all you need, mine needed a lot extra but you could just get the fastback parts needed which cost more and mire with inflation
Hey could you overlay some music over the top of the machine/shop sounds?
I did actually and it was copy right so had to remove it
Even tho its been blasted, there is still alot of rust on that thing
Yeah all had to be cut out. I didn’t get footage of a lot but took a bit of work
Why didn't you brace it.?bit of a cowboy me thinks compared to other UA-cam's doin the same but a lot better

you would have made a fastback from scratch ... the real was left little and nothing. It was very original and had a good line. regrettable...
It is now a 6 figure car and was never going to be worth over 30 as a coupe
Protect your ears!!!!!
Your right… I suffered from a massive migraine the next day from this one
