One of the musical highlights of my life working on these rehearsals on sound stage outskirts of London for 3 weeks back in 2002. Got to watch these amazing musicians rehearsing every day .. … they were all really nice folks and all egos were parked at the door.
What was Dhani doing appearing with his father's friends on stage at the "Concert For George"? His Keyboard and Backing Vocal on "The Inner Light" was beautiful, but that should have been the extent of his involvement.
I believe Eric Clapton was very annoyed having Dhani up on stage performing with George's friends. Dhani should have solely done "The Inner Light" and sat down with his mother and enjoyed the show. If you view the conclusion of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at "The Concert For George", Clapton looks annoyed as Dhani goes over to thank him. Dhani seemed to be an annoying fly buzzing around the stage!

Yes, that was the most emotional part for me as I'd never heard of Joe Brown or that song before. And showing that wonderful picture of George through those falling poppies during this song was really something memorable.
@@brianwhite1189It was written in 1924, an old standard. Joe is a very talented guitarist and had a few hits in the early 60’s. I think he met George in The Beatles early touring days. Joe’s daughter Sam sang Horse To Water at the concert.

Great Video. It was really cool to see Eric get up out of his chair and gets this great smile on his face when they started playing Handle With Care- if you dont think Eric loves rock and roll and listening to other musicians - all you have to do is watch that and you can see he loves it a whole lot ! Interesting that maybe this was shot before Tom Petty got on board as he took on a lot of these songs. Also I would just like to mention what an amazing guitarist Marc Mann is. At the concert when he laid into the solo of the song Something - it was amazing and gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. Finally I just want to say - I love George!!
Marc Mann is a dark horse amongst this crew. He's at the Friar Park mixing desk with George in the Brainwashed EPK videos. So I guess he was pretty good musical mates with George too, as well as being a great lead guitarist.
That might have been asking a bit much with all that world class talent around him. Eric had to nudge him as it was to join them onstage for the entirety of the concert. He was planning on just a couple of songs initially, but Eric done right.
Who are these people? We see Lynn, Dhani, Ringo, Ray Cooper, Billy Preston, Lee, and Clapton. Who was singing Taxman at 1:43? Who was the player at 2:27? That guy is smokin. Who are the two non-Ringo drummers? And the backup singers? The DVD of TCfG is incredible.

Everybody talk about Clapton's guitar playing but damn his singing has always really impressed me. His guitar not as much, quite cliche by the time I got into the game. I understand he might have been first to really milk that minor pentatonic scale for all it was worth. But he rarely goes to sick other notes like say Jeff Beck. I've seen him live before his great unplugged stuff and it bored me to death. Now he mixes it up pretty well because he has such a huge repertoire to choose from.
After Cream and maybe Blind Faith he was already gravitating toward being a singer first, guitarist second. Beck was always more of a muso guitar player. But I agree on Clapton's vocals. He makes it sound effortless.
@@TheNaturalustno question his guitar playing could be called inconsistent by the 70s - on a good night though he’s fantastic, particularly his floating vibrato, tight refined movements up and down the neck, and of course his “storytelling “ within a given solo… hitting that blistering climax.
