"No, I took it lots of times. But I only needed it once."
George was funny and very quotable too.

That last bit ruined it a little, mate (no offense)
What I like about George is that he says the most outrageous things, all the while looking serious while he says them...It makes him seem all the more funny!
That is called "deadpan delivery" and indicates that you know your audience and how they will respond. Furthermore, it means that if you are actually doing this ad lib, that you are EXTREMELY intelligent and adaptable

Definitely had an underrated sense of humor.
WTH? People who know even a few things about George know that he had a very great wit. Did you just want to use the term "underrated" because it's the term everyone uses now?
@@TheVeek192
Exactly what did you misunderstand? I paid him a compliment. That he had an underrated sense of humor means that he generally wasn't given enough credit for being as funny as he was. I used the term "underrated" correctly. Now for your own edification go and look the word up in the dictionary.
@@TheVeek192 Okey I just repeated what you said. An often used word few people know how to use.
Yes everyone says 'underrated' all over youtube and we do not allow it.
I understand completely why you say "underrated" here -- anyone who relies on the "authoritative biographies" on The Beatles invariably see George portrayed as a constantly dour, unsmiling man without even a hint of a sense of humour. Of course, when you watch interviews of Harrison, or hear comments from people who actually knew him, you discover he had a very droll and sardonic wit (pretty typical of Liverpudlians actually -- and I know...I'm married to one).

Edited. Of course he gave an answer it was not nervous at all. Some Paul hater made this crap video. See George's interview for Rolling Stone where he said he had spent hours in the studio with Paul...cause they were good friends. Sorry, Paul haters and Beatles haters...George and him were really pals and very tight. By the way., George died in a house that belonged to Paul. Never forget it. To keep on telling this lie they were not friends hurts George's spirit.
George was the best looking Beatle .He had a fantastic sense of humor .Can't quite call him the quiet one .Just that the others were noisier .

Funny how some of the clips from the late 80s are more blurry than clips from the early 60s...
film vs (bad) video
It's not the same thing, but even like taking photos, you could give 2 people the exact same camera and send them to the same place. One takes artwork, the other takes snapshots.
VHS tapes...
the move from black and white to color really diminished the quality.
What people would do is copy VHS to VHS and with each generation the quality would suffer. Some of these were probably fourth, fifth, sixth generation. In the 80's and 90's people would sell copies of these tapes, too, to make a profit which is probably also where some of these originated from. Not like now how you can transfer VHS directly to your computer.
About 4:38 when he jokes about Paul getting most of the girls I suddenly remembered the scene from “Help!” when George says something like “I’m always getting winked at these days. Used to be you, didn’t it, Paul?”. Easily my favorite Beatles movie.

George was such a beautiful soul. I met them in August of 1966. George stuck his hand out to me and I took it. Such a wonderful memory for a "still 16 in my heart" old lady.
Awww that’s so cute! He was such a sweetheart.
Only just found this, great stuff. Here's a little story about this awesome man.
My Grandmother knew the Harrison family, she regularly used to see him when he was a baby and made a great fuss of him. She used to get a card off him every Christma.
Anyway, she passed away in the early 80's at the great age of 93. My mother desperately tried to let him know, by then, of course, he was a household name, So she never knew if her efforts to inform him had got through.
On the day of my Grandmother's funeral (in Liverpool) a man dressed very casually was sat at the back of the church. Mother briefly spoke to him and he hugged her for a minute or so, no one realised who he was.
He thanked her for letting him know.
After the service he just melted away and disappeared.
He made such an effort when s simple note would have been nice.
What a wonderful, kind, caring man.
This is so lovely. What a genuine and kind man he was ❤️ thank you for sharing ❤️ xx

Awww he was such an amazing person. Wish he was still with us :(
I love Ringo and George’s relationship so much, to me it seems like they had the least beef with each other when the band broke up and it’s great.
It was George who pushed Ringo to be included in the Band...he even was head-butted by a guy for that coz people were crazy about Pete Best being fired... George protected Ringo from any unpleasant incidents...Ringo once famously said in an interview "George fought for me"... George even gave Ringo couple of his own songs such as "it don't come easy" and gave the full writing credit to Ringo...So I guess their friendship was bigger and better than that of John and Paul...
So, why did George encourage Maureen to fall in love with him and leave Ringo? If one loves one's friend, is that the best way to diminish beefs between them?
@@meeeka Thats why he gave Ringo one of his songs in reparation!!

Great observation
Did you see Get Back? Even after he walked out and "quit" he told them "I don't want to not be a Beatle"
All of them to be honest…
no, they held him back and he knew it.
If you ever watched the clip of him watching the This Boy video, you can practically see the nostalgia in his eyes. He definitely loved being a Beatle, I just think they go too big than what he was comfortable with eventually.

Than who? A sleepy toad?
I'm always astounded by how closely he listens and tries to answer the question directly. John and Paul were always somewhat evasive or constantly spinning things.
He had a good sense of humour for a guy who’s often been remembered as being so quiet and serious.
I have loved George for 54 years. That must be true love. I love gardening too. He is right, flowers don't talk back.
I have loved him for 53 years :p, lol! FYI I was a little precocious. :-) I love how blunt and straight forward he was, not many people can handle that, and that's how I really am, have had to tone it down a little because not being a celebrity fewer people are willing to listen to me. The sad thing is that most people REALLY like to be lied to, but they're so full of themselves they convince themselves what their "friends" are telling them is the truth. If one's not saying what they want to hear they'll move on to a member of their "herd" that will play by their rules - George never or rarely did and I admire him for that!
Patricia Barkley Me too. He was adorable.
Actually, they do, if you really listen (: no ego, just soul to soul
He was the Beatle I first fell in love with. I was 12.

lmfao welcome to my world
George was an introverted extrovert. I'm married to one. Like George, my wife has a keenly wicked sense of humor. Explains a lot that my favorite Beatle is George. His music and lyrics have such deeper meaning than the average pop song. Great stuff here. Thank you.
Tom Shaw nice comment.
I also think that every introverted extrovert becomes an extroverted introvert.
Tom Shaw, yes a very deep meaning. When counseling group sessions I liked using some of his songs to play for the group in order to make a point. Excellent material. I bought ATMP album on vinyl, then cassette tape, then Compact Disc.
Tom Shaw well the INFJ personality type is almost undoubtedly George's, and the thing is that an INFJ, once there's an opportunity to talk about something about which they're passionate, can get very chatty. INFJs usually do have surprisingly nimble senses of humor too.

George was the cleverest Beatle and had the most wonderful sense of humor. It would of been such a privilege to have known him in life. And what a great talent he was, such a monumental talent.

He was always so nice and seems the one Beatle you could be best friends with
True, but he - like most of us - could be snarky and biting at times (mostly when it came to something about Paul).
When he was lying in a hospital bed days from death, extremely weak and unable to walk, George heard from Ringo that R.s' daughter had attempted suicide in another state and he said, 'you'd better go and see her quick'. Then added 'do you want me to come with?' What a man!!!!!!

His LSD quote is so true tho.
In retrospect, you DO feel that you only NEEDED to do it once; in that you can never really go back to your old way of thinking and seeing the world. But at the time, the experience is so profound to you that you REALLY want to do it again.
And I agree with Janette in this thread: my SECOND trip was much more enjoyable, and that's where the die was cast.
But I did it a second time because of the possibilities I glimpsed the first time.
And you do eventually reach a point where you say to yourself "I've learned these lessons now. They were great. But I also learned some great lessons in the fourth grade, and I didn't have to repeat it."

Like so many young people, Randy R, you apparently think the world started the day you arrived. Trust me, everyone has always hated and complained about commercials. And George must have thought he was telling us something we didn't already know too. Commercials are louder than the shows and most feature inane songs we could do without ever hearing.
@@MrCook1227 World was around a long time before I was put here. My temporary time here is getting shorter. Only passing thru . Better place is waiting for me.
I don't think common sense or stating the obvious should be described as "ahead of his time" and "seeing more than we do". George was a regular fun guy with regular thoughts (as proved by this video) who got lucky playing and writing music, no need to pretend he was more than he was.
You just gotta love this man...he was so honest, down to earth, witty and intelligent... A rare combination nowadays..
'paul? because he ran out of good songs of his own?' OUCH, George!

After a while in the Beatles, Paul and George didn't go very well together.
Different personalities. I don't believe George was that fan of Paul's music.
I don't think he fancied the entertainer side of Paul - and that he held a grudge against him.
George wasn't just nice to everybody - all of the time.
In the book 'You Never Give Me Your Money' the author says that that interview was at the time George had discovered that Paul was getting a higher pay from EMI on Beatle songs. George had a grudge with EMI anyway. He felt that it was a kind of betrayal on Paul's part. It played into old grievances about George feeling undervalued and Paul's hatred for their old manager so it was just a low point rather than a long built hostility.
Harrison should try listening to his own albums. All things must pass excepted, they are absolutely dire. Basically, he used up his stockpile of songs on that album and had little else of interest to offer from then on in. And as for that Wilbury MOR muzak, oh dear. At least when McCartney pulls his finger out and tries he can still write a tune.
I think each Beatle had really good solo stuff
This coming from a man whose own song writing dried up and he had to start doing covers.
4:35 paul impersonation is too accurate xD
I was born 2 months after George's death. It kills me that there has never been a time when both me and him lived in the same world together. I missed out on looking at the same stars this amazing man looked at. I've been in love with him since I was a kid and I don't think I'll ever outgrow that :')

I never really thought of George being The Quiet Beatle. Like when all 4 Beatles were in an interview or something, George would always come out with something quick and witty! He gave such interesting interviews! I really think that George was very intelligent and a deep thinker.. He surely played that lead guitar extremely well! Fortunately all four of the Beatles had perfect pitch.
I was 11 when I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan in early 1964. I was immediately transfixed by them and they filled my emotional life for the next 5 years. Thank you for posting whenever you can find all this is going on when I was 13 14 15 years old here I am 66 and I'm just now seeing this for the first time.
