Tower defense is a weird genre considering it's dominated by 1 game, Bloons, and not that many games even come close to challenging it. And the ones that do, tend to actually play vastly different. PvZ doesn't play anything like Bloons despite being a TD game.

@damsen978 Someone? Quite likely. The Original devs? No, like the Shea said, the Devs gave up and have shown no interest picking it back up as far as I am aware.
Isn't TF2's version of tower defense quite literally just MvM? You got the waves of enemies that increase in strength over time, you got the preset path they follow, you got the hatch robots are not allowed to reach, you get rewarded with currency for every robot you destroy, you even got an intricate upgrape system to increase your lethality using said currency. The only gameplay quirk here is that instead of a top down view where you place defenses along the path, you are the defense. That might not be the classical recipe, but this is a First Person Shooter after all and it makes the whole formula much more fun, IMO. Plus the gamemode you are showcasing here lets you do the same thing, they just disabled the powerclasses and limit you to Engie.

A V-Script remake of Tower Defence sounds neat, but if the community was volatile enough to rip Prop Hunt V-Script to shreds because it was too far removed from what TF2 really is, then I doubt most people would be up to make it. Let alone remake other community gamemodes like Dodgeball or Parkour. I've also noticed not many players download maps for a V-Script gamemode unless it becomes official and gets added into the map rotation.
@@deppo436 I view V-Script more as a helpful tool to easily make a custom gamemode set-up rather than full-blown "legitimate" maps in cases like this I don't think Dodgeball for example needs a V-Script port mainly due to its simplicity and popularity but the more complex stuff present in something like Warioware or TD could warrant it
The reason Prop Hunt V-Script was ripped to shreds is that people had issue with it potentially getting into an update, people are otherwise fine with custom gamemodes in the community tab.
