Here's a clip where he explained how he wrote that song. ua-cam.com/video/4lSWpKuu5TA/v-deo.html Also really cool is how the makers of that clip introduce him to the Crosby, Stills and Nash cover of the song, which he wasn't aware of before.
@Marcus Burton: Hello. He said often in interviews that he and George playing around with Johann Sebastian Bachs Bourree but they could just play the very first part of this. And later he took that as an ispiration for Blackbird. :-)
@Joy Stinson A shag was cut differently than a mullet. It was a "shag" because of its "shaggy" but specific precision layers all over. Mullet was anything goes on top and front, just leave the back long.
One of my fav acoustic Paul McCartney songs. It isn't just the political meaning behind the song, the very melody he wrote reaches my heart like so few songs do. I honestly don't know how musicians write music that moves our emotions, it is such a gift. Paul, we will always consider you a legend!
The political meaning is ambiguous, Paul’s explanation makes literally zero sense lol “it came to me in a subway car” 😂😂😂😂😂 the next breath he is talking about how aliens visited him. If you wanna buy the nonsense, go ahead tho. Scrubs lol.
I was 20 ft. from the stage at the Cow Palace for the entire show in 1976. Paul and his band sat and did an acoustic set. Since this show I wanted to purchase an Ovation guitar and finally did buy an Ovation Custom Legend 12 string. BTW...the show was absolutely iconic.
Seen him at Inglewood forum TWICE!.. I was a 17 year old but the moment wasn't lost on me.. and the sit down acoustic set had me in near tears as paul sounded and looked fantastic.. I will not ever see him again as how can I top seeing him in his top form prime.. from beginning of venus and mars/ rock show to surrey.. like yesterday, thank God theres video and bootlegs..
100% yes. the man has always been an inspiration. The Beatles were always about equality (ironic really, when you consider that no one has ever been *their* equal). They wanted a world united by love.
This was a immensely historically significant tour in the history of music and i was fortunate to attend the sunday night may 16 performance at the capital centre in landover, md in '76.
Just learning to play this on guitar. Watching, listening and learning. I teach guitar so I'll pass yet another great song down to the next generation.
I believe he is the greatest singer, songwriter. Ever. He was the icing on the Beatles success. There are great singers in the world but very, very doubtful could have written songs that would test time. Noone. George straight has awesome music but alot of early songs were written by one of the best writers in Nashville. McCartney is the greatest ever. Elvis never wrote. I loved 50s, 60s elvis but Paul had the genius to write with ease. That is so rare especially when he wrote half the songs for Beatles and just is amazing. Never will there be another.
I never show up in the video, (it was the KIngdome, lol), but I was in this audience. The most memorable show of my lifetime, since I never got to see the Beatles.
Death makes us realize that this is going to end and we should appreciate it while we have it. Till we can't run from it, that's the only solace we have.
Best version of this song, Absolutely masterpiece. You know, i have been repeatedly hear this song every day every night since 2 years ago. Thanks @turnitup
never get tired of this!...i love singing it, but really hard for me on the high..'into to the light of the dark black night..but i think i can and can sing it as beautifully.
I finally learned to play and sing this beautiful song. Just doing the practise now before playing it for friends and teaching it to others. This video will get some new viewers. I take great pleasure in introducing young people to great musicians like Paul McCartney.
Dave Derby hi would love to know what you think of this cover my 17 year old grandson (on guitar) and his friend did ua-cam.com/video/dFkaUPxtXIU/v-deo.html
@@geoffreyparsons4353 to me it sounds very introspective. Sounds like hes talking about himself...i imaginr him thinking .."after all that weve done and wrote, the heights weve seen, in the end everyone else seems to be more worried about their public persona and stardom than the music." ..and i think he sees himself as that lone blackbird thats frarless and sings into the darkest of times when other birds are sleeping. Showing his absolute will to continue even tho tjis beatles thing would be over soon.
I heard this song from the boss baby then my favorite guitarist played it.I learned it a couple of days ago but I can't just sing it cause I don't feel the spirit of the song thats why I'm here right now and still can't recover😪He's really a genius and a lefty like me🙂
Would anyone happen to figure out what notes he played before the intro? I just thought that was gorgeous. 😍 Beautiful timeless piece. Amazing music. ❤🎶
how did paul mccartney just CREATE this masterpiece?!
Because he is Paul McCartney.

Think he went to the barbers, unless you mean the song?
1:38 love the way he goes “All your life-eeeee” that little falsetto “eeee” really gets me LOL
I've heard this version so much, i can't sing the song without doing that little eee. Never gets old.
That little "eee" fills me with.. something. It's perfect.
Mozart with a mullet
The Beatles are better than that idiot Mozzartella
That actually wasn't a mullet...this was more of a version of mod hairstyles from the late 60s and early 70s. Too cool for you to fathom.
@Joy Stinson A shag was cut differently than a mullet. It was a "shag" because of its "shaggy" but specific precision layers all over. Mullet was anything goes on top and front, just leave the back long.
@@johnlemon7564 you can’t compare classical with rock
@@johnlemon7564 if there was no Mozart there’d be no McCartney/Lennon . They used classical triads and classical composition techniques

THE best live version of Blackbird in my opinion. Absolutely brilliant.
Agreed.

I saw at the same tour in Boston in '76. Yes, the acoustic set in the middle was iconic. Sent chills down my spine
You're all lucky guys. I envy you all 😁👍🏻

50 plus years later and sadly the lyrics are just as important today. God bless Paul
Absolutely you know the old saying, “How the world goes round and round” ? I couldn’t agree more with it now than ever.

Lucky enough to see him live a few weeks ago. Life changing experience. He sung this was a special moment
My toddlers love this song soo much that I tear up as a dad just listening to it.
I honor and respect this man so much. I think every guy has a crush on him if we’re honest. This is a forever legend
My friend picked up a guitar on a trip in France, back in 03 and played this! I'd not heard it before
I like how Sir Pauls voice has mellowed over the years. Pure class 🙂
Cowboy Carter sent me here. I needed to see/hear the original version.
Paul's voice is pure magic.

The "Wings Over America" just might be the best album of all time.
