    Beef tendon can usually be found in Southeast Asian supermarkets that have Vietnamese food or even Korean markets if your grocery store doesn’t have it. Aching joints need some collagen 😊

    Thank you, Anita, for this idea. I made some instant pot bone broth with chicken feet, pig's feet & oxtails about 5-6 months ago, but then kind of forgot about it. I've finally gone full-blown carnivore and gave up coffee, which I REALLY miss. Having a nice hot cup of bone broth to start my day will be a great replacement. Thanks again, and for all your videos. 😊

      You can have coffee on carnivore .. just no sugar .. I use heavy whipping cream which is high in sat fat .. or you can add a TBS of butter ..

    I love soup. I made your chicken soup with the chicken wings and froze it. Then when I started getting a cold I heated it back up and it was the perfect comfort drink for a cold. Looking forward to trying both of these recipes. I love how clear your instructions are and it’s nice to have basic recipes without a lot of spices. Love your cooking videos.

    I also prefer to use leftover bones, soup bones from the butcher are expensive and don't produce much broth unless you buy several pounds worth and make a more watery broth. Thanks for the fun videos and tips, your fur babies are lucky little taste testers!🐶🐶

    I'm a throw them all in the same bone bag person. Great flavor. I don't have an instant pot, cook them for about 2 or 3 days on low after the first boil. Occasionally check if needs more water. If using bones with joints you get collagen. I do not use any vegetables either. I only remove the bones then, keep in any meat bits and collagen, and if some of the bone turns to mush, for example the joint ends of chicken bones. If some of the bones have gotten soft enough I break them part way through so that the marrow comes out into the bone soup. Will have to look for beef tendons! Wonder where I can find them? Raw meat is great for your dogs:)

    Here in NJ ShopRite and other supermarkets sell the sprinkle of Redmond Salt but none of the other packages. In my area Arctic Meat Shoppe sells it in bags -just the fine salt though. Otherwise I order it from them.
    I also have a bag of bones in my freezer and I use them for bone broth once in awhile. I cook it for 1-2 hours depending on how lazy I am. Love it, So useful. You can use it in soup, in Mississippi Pot Roast (which is how I am using it day). Of course you can just drink it. So good.

    Loved this video!!! My bone broth making is very similar! Mine is 2 day process 100% stovetop that I refer to as a labor of love to myself🤗 i make a batch every 10 days or so and usually produce six 28 Oz jars of jelled yumminess!! I always add fresh pork necks AND smoked pork necks. I am carnivore but do add one chopped yellow onion & one whole jalapeño for flavor, it completely dissolves after 12 hours of cooking! I like to put my entire stock pot in the fridge and pop the whole sheet of fat off in the morning, voila! Heat it again, strain it, fill my jars and then evenly distribute that bit of meat. Really excited about the beef tendons, can’t wait to use that!!! I often heat the broth, throw in a couple of eggs and know I’ve done something good for me! Thanks again for a great video!!!

    Just bought my first stovetop pressure cooker. WHAT a game changer. It's turned me into a bone broth QUEEN. (8 quart is a great size for a single or small fam). BENEFIT: leave it on all day inside or outside on an electric burner on LOW for NO SMELL in the house. I've used the same bones 3 TIMES so it's really economical. (5lb bag of beef bones for $6 from a local farmer/Sept 2024)

    When I do bone broth, I cut the longer bones in half to make the marrow accessible, mostly leg, thigh, and wing bones. With poultry, turkey and chicken, I use a tool called a cable cutter, it just snips right through the bone. I got a large amount of deer bones from a deer processor during last deer season and processed them into bone broth. I cut the leg bones in two with a bone blade in a reciprocating saw.

    I use heated chicken collagen to make my egg flower soup. With chive and other herbs I grow...I'm70 and have been taking collagen via food, vitamin c , unflavored gelatin/collagen, dermaroller, collagen lotion...whatever to enhance collagen. Collagen is what holds your body together. Btw chicken feet bought in bulk from butcher is loaded with collagen. Slow cooked with act to help dissolve the bones and bring out the collagen. I use this and cooked down chicken body in my soups.

    I've never seen or heard of beef tendons. I'm in rural Indiana and will ask the butcher shop if they have them.
    Whenever I make bone broth, chicken or beef, I use my crock pot on low for 24 to 36 hours and add 10 chicken feet for the collagen. I save the cooked bones too or the raw bones from T-bone and Perterhouse steaks that I trim before cooking. I always roast the uncooked bones and chicken feet. I need to learn how to use my instant pot that's still in the box!!

      Well I have no scientific data for you. Judging by the billions of dollars that the supplement industry makes on packaged collagen powders I'm sure they have some data. I'm old fashioned and believe in going directly to the source as my Mom and grandma did. They somehow intuitively knew that animal fats and bones etc were healthy for us.

      I have a vegetarian friend who was in poor shape. She decided to take powdered collagen and its been a real turn around for her. (I think it was marine collagen, though not beef.) She lost weight, lowered her blood pressure and her skin was great.

    Hi Anita. Thanks for the video. Was wondering if I wasn’t brave enough to eat the tendons, is there still a worthwhile amount of collagen in the broth itself? Cheers.

    Do you save the cooked bones or before cooking? I made beef ribs in the pressure cooker and have the bones left. I also roast my chicken legs. Do you save those bones? What about the bones left over after people eat off them? Do you save those too?

    Hi Anita- I got some beef tendons so I could make some beef bone broth. But I was running errands and came home just in time to make dinner and start the broth. But in my rush I forgot to precook the tendons. ☹️. Is that bad as in I should toss it out?? Oh yeah and the broth is yellow. I actually didn’t have any beef bones this time so the first time I spent money for two packages which was $16 unbelievable and the tendons I’m afraid I ruined this batch but I’d rather be safe than sorry.

    • @KetogenicWoman
      @KetogenicWoman  11 місяців тому

      No don't throw them out! I don't always precook them, I only precook them if I want them partially cooked for a recipe like this soup. Otherwise they are too chewy in the soup or stew.

    Do you throw away the bones after you make the broth? I would think they’re not reusable.

    Do you drain the fat off?

    • @KetogenicWoman
      @KetogenicWoman  6 місяців тому

      on the bone broth? I let it sit until the fat hardens at the top then I put that fat in a jar for cooking and the save the broth separately.

      The bones for the bone broth were a variety of saved beef bones from ribs and steaks. And some small oxtails.
