My mother was from Europe, Old Country and she made soup so tasty it was to die for. Unknowns to me, it was bone broth with a little meat or chicken. She put everything in one big pot with water, veggies & spices & cooked it on lowest heat for appx 4-6 hrs. I attribute our health to her, all natural food ....we never ate food from a can and, or, fast food. I'm 74 yrs young and take no meds! God is good!
I buy 5 kgs of beef bones, roast them then soak them in water with a cup pf ACV for an hour. Bring the huge pot to a boil then turn it to its lowest setting and let it bubble away for 48 hours. Been doing that for several years. Not dead yet! Turned 70 last birthday. Had a mug of it tonight, will have another mug tomorrow and so on. Sorry Doc, I don't buy this one size fits all. Different horses for different courses. BB works for me and I love it.
You boil it in the same water it soaks in? Also, doesn't running your stove for 48 hours drive up the electric or gas bill depending on your stove? Not being funny, I want to make some, but everyone recommends cooking more than 24 hours, and that just seems like a long time to run the stove. Was wondering if possible to make it within 8hours, or does boiling it at a higher heat longer reduce the nutrient benefits or something?
@@Honey-Bee-25 the longer the better. 8hrs will be fine but the potency obviously goes up the longer its cooked. Maybe shoot for 10-12hrs. Rinse bones after soaking.

My dad was a General Practitioner for 54 years. He read one of Dr. Blaylock's books, and then absolutely devoured everything else he wrote. He dedicated the last 15 years of his practice to prevention of illness. He began enacting the principles of Dr. Blaylock's research into the education of his patients. He retired in 2006. The other doctors thought he was crazy. All of it is now standard practice. He was just ahead of his time.
I use to get his newletters. The only problem in following doctors like Blaylock, Gundry, and others..........it ruins you for your run of the mill doctors who stick with the old treatments that have been discounted.
I worked for a GP similar to your dear dad. My boss was awesome, practiced for 43 years. Old fashioned down to earth good common sense practices he instilled in his patients. More often than not, patients walked out with a flyer about how to heal what ailed them, instead of a script. Dr. M. often said, good health starts in the gut. Even the pharma reps knew that donuts and bagels were a no-no, and they would bring a fruit platter instead!!! His wife was a R.N. as were we, his staff. His daughter was a P.A. and we had 2 MA's as well. He was forced into retirement after falling down a flight of stairs at Del Mar race course in 2002. A tragedy we barely could comprehend. I retired as did the rest of the staff. His daughter went on to work with a pediatrician, and she carries on the good works her dad instilled in her.

No one absorbs a complete protein. All protein is broken down in amino acids, and rebuilt into what the body needs. So, plentiful amino acids provide the body with all it needs. So, if you lack collagen, and there are plentiful amino acids around, then the collagen will be rebuilt. Provide the body with other things too - sulphur, copper etc, that make up collagen. You will be fine.

Vietnamese are well known for their bone broth. My mom uses a lot of different beef, chicken, and pork bones to make the delicious soup Pho. It's so delicious and healthy for you.
Viets here, most "bone broth" made by vietnamese are not really bone broth. Mostly using pressure cooker and only about 3 hours max. It is still very good but not as good as 24-hours cooked
Physionic channel recently pointed out that collagen isn't necessarily completely broken down to base aminos during digestion - valuable complex molecules are preserved.
Even if it is completely broken down, Why is that bad? We need Glycine, Proline and etc to build new collagen materials anyway. And not everyone’s natural production of these materials is optimal for skin aesthetics and joint health.

I would have to leave a residential job to go potty at a public restroom. No issues anymore. Solid, easy, no stomach aches since going carnivore. Very little gas and virtually odorless. Making blanket statements like you have in your comment are not based on science. I have made my own Bone Broth for over 8 years , from bones and organ meats of organic/grass fed/free range , beef/chick/turkey ...I accept that protein ages us , but my theory is that it is the "digestion of the protein" that ages, so protein in Broth is More bio-available , in short less stress on the body , so from my experience is perfect for all the enzymes in amino acids (many of which have yet to be discovered) has been miraculous for my Hair, Skin , Nails and internally all my Organs , Ligaments and Joints , Etc. Each to his/her Own .....

Making a pot roast just ensures you consume more of the food you bought and throw less away. It also provides a more balanced intake than just muscle meat. Adding organ meats will provide even more nutrients not available in a steak. Many of the building blocks available in animal products are difficult to get with plants alone.

Thank you for suggesting the use “Iodized” Sea Salt….. this is extremely important especially if you have a low carb lifestyle and/or eating raw cruciferous (goitrogen) vegetables. Otherwise the perfect storm of factors may result in hypothyroidism. Not something you want to deal with for the rest of your life. BTW this is the first time I’ve heard a health guru mention this. Thank you for spreading the word!
Very interesting. Thanks for all the info. One has to pay so much attention to what to eat or not to eat, and under which circumstances, at what time, speed, chewing rate, how it was raised/grown/processed/stored/cooked/ served/rehashed, how to supplement and when not .... it’s a miracle how we, who lack most of that knowledge still are alive. P.S.: concerning iodine sea salt: I’ve learned from another podcast that iodine needs to be taken with selenium (two Brazilnuts per day contain all you need of it) in order to be bio-available for the thyroid. Same goes for Calcium which in order to be absorbed by your bones and teeth needs to be taken in with Vitamin D, which needs to be taken with K2, which only works if taken with some oil or fat. ...It’s making you dizzy Healthy and happy new year Cheers from Berlin

@Yay-hovah How about generations of people around the world going back 1000s of years, sometimes you just don't need science to prove something works.
The glycine/methionine balance is what is important. It's not about restricting methionine, it's about balancing glycine with the methionine to get the longevity benefits.
This guy is funny... Since he started doing UA-cam, promoting his "plant based" diet he has aged MASSIVELY... as shown in his OWN Commercials during this video. He's gotten more overweight, fat folds under his chin, and just looks MUCH older compared to when he started which was NOT that long ago. Also, I've seen the opposite... I've seen Keto or Carnivores become super healthy and attractive, even looking like literal W Trash, becoming models, and I've seen many of the famous Vegans on UA-cam start looking OLD when they are in fact in their 20's and 30's still.

Apparent contradiction: no point eating collagen gets broken down to aminos; but animal protein relatively harmful compared to plant protein! Seems that not all protein is completely broken down to base aminos. So, dietary collagen may provide complex peptides as reported by Physionic.
When I was on bone broth for about 4 months I had my bone density scan and for my hips they were 112% in one and 115% in the other and the lower back was at 94%. I am 56 yrs. old. When I had the test last which was about 5 yrs ago it wasn't so good, I can't find the test, but the person reading my test was worried for my bone health.
What other health issues do you have? Do you eat the standard American diet? What prompted them to give you a bone density scan? I’m 55 and my doc has never even suggested such a scan.
I read that bone density testing is largely a scam. It’s basically comparing you to a 40 year old. So of course it won’t be 100%. Eat healthy and exercise with some weight bearing. Don’t fall for pharma shill.
Dr. Gundry is the weight loss people obtained from the 21 day broth diet simply from increasing protein intake and essentially following a liquid diet? My nursing instinct says it is.
Bone broth is excellent, and quite tasty. I always feel very good about not wasting the bones but getting most of the nutrition by putting them in the slow cooker for about a day on low. I always add a little curry, pepper and salt. And a chopped carrot, celery, and onion. I put the whole vegetable in there. Nothing wasted. As a bonus it makes my home smell absolutely wonderful.

mTOR needs to cycle on and off (fasting and feeding). It's not as simple as just shutting off mTOR Also, collagen is digested into tri and di-peptides and are absorbed without hydrolysis. There are several studies showing collagen supplementation is superior to the individual stoichometrically-balanced amino acids. You're right on glycine.
I've been shopping Trader Joes for 10 years consistently. I've never seen iodized sea salt there and have heard they intentionally are not using iodized seal salt. Just FYI.
Few years back, after my cancer diagnosis, I started researching everything. Methionine was one of those deep dives, even got tested for it. In my research I learned chickens, even organic ones get methionine. Apparently it’s something their body does not make and they need it, according the papers I read. Seem to recall chicken of all was highest in methionine. Producers add it to their feed, even the organically raised chickens.
I live in Australia and we turn tonight but anything much if we don’t have to. I’ll have to check and see what they do with the chickens here in that case.

Funny enough real sea salt doesn't need to be iodized. It has iodine in it. That's why spirulina, kelp, sea weed etc have iodine, from the sea lol. He seems to be off sometimes.
Thank you for explaining this so clearly. The body makes collagen and in order to do this it needs adequate amounts of vitamins such as vitamin c. What you seem to FORGET Gundry is that many of the people that have gone to using Bone Broth have *LEAKY GUT* and for many people with leaky gut, they WILL in fact be able to absorb complete proteins through, into the blood stream, especially, if they are using PPIs to reduce their stomach acid. There are MANY proteins that are not completely broken down into amino acids, especially those proteins that are heavily folded and strongly bonded (like in raw, uncooked eggs).
That's what came to my mind too, sort of. When we consume protein, a lot of it is broken down into amino acids, but not all. Sometimes there are peptides (short chains of AA's) that make it into the small intestine. And these peptides can cross the intestinal barrier into the blood. That's why collagen peptides may work.
My wife and I have been making bone broth for around a year now. All my life I have had papery thin nails, but now my nails are incredibly strong. May be a coincidence but I put it down to the collagen in the broth. Whether it works or not, I love it as a soup for lunch and don't need anything else until the evening meal. Hi Dr. Gundry, I’m vegetarian and have been since adolescence. Other than B12, iron supplements etc I take a health shot every morning of chicken bone broth from the local health store. My question is that would it be more worth it for a vegetarian/vegan to take bone broth daily for a 2 month period at a time to help fuel my body with the energy it doesn’t get from not eating any meat. I mix a concoction of bone broth, apple cider vinegar, celery, sometimes an apple, coriander, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, flaxseed oil, sesame seed oil & olive oil. I drink a shot of this every morning before eating, along with my morning supplements. Am I wasting my efforts? Is there an easier way to do what I’m trying to achieve or am I doing it right?🤷🏻♀️ please help, I value your knowledge and opinion
Longevity is a complex subject. I eat tons of veggies ... and ... try to mix in at least 8 to 10 high-quality low oxalate plant-based foods with my meals. I also try to mix in quality animal protein ... organ meats ... bone marrow as well. ... the best of carnivore All that being said, in comparison to meat eaters ... with vegans having the lowest Methionine consumption in their diets ... One would think that a vegan's low Methionine diet would correlate to a significantly longer life span ... at least statistically ... It does not!!! ... The longevity data for vegans worldwide does not bare out the same results as that of the low Methionine study in pigs. On the whole, vegans do not live longer than health-conscious meat eaters ... that exercise... have a purpose ... good sleep ... community ... etc. The Methionine connection seems to be clear in pigs but not in humans. A balanced whole food ... real food diet is really the key. One-off studies don't tell the full story
Last thought … Don’t want to downplay the science or the dangers of the overconsumption of meat … That said … Clearly, our ancestors ate meat. One major difference is that our ancestors did not have ... things like grocery stores or mobile apps to order food to their doorsteps. They hunted ... walked ... worked for food … even in the early agricultural days, humans had to work for food. There went hungry more and fasted for longer periods Lastly, Methionine levels are almost none existent during a long fast. So, the amount and type of protein are important ... the feeding window/timing is also important
Carnivore is the optimal diet actually- red meat Govea us all the nutrients and fats we need, plus salt. Just look at all the people healing “incurable diseases” by eating strict ketogenic or carnivore. The main issue I’m concerned about with bone broth is the potential for lead to be in it since animals store lead in their bones. I’m still researching this since I literally just made a big batch of bone broth before hearing about the lead.
🤔 I find it quiet ironic that you gave a recipe for bone broth after all you’ve said about it’s negative side .. what message that would send to your viewers? You can’t have it both ways ..

Bone broth was recommended to me by a physician that studied in Camebridge to make recovery from a rowing injury and because of lack of collagen. Works perfectly for me and my body is finally recovering faster.
We must eat everything. Meat, poultry, vegetables, lentils, beans, chickpeas, fruits, but with measure. Ancient Greeks said "Everything in good measure" . They also said "Heatlhy mind in a healthy body". Which means Exercise and everything with be right. Their philosophy was Eat right, Exercise and Everything will be Good. And a right broth was in their nutrition. No diets, but Right Nutrition.
Thanks for that one ! I made a bone broth which made me really ill : instead of relieving me from the symptoms of leaky gut it made it way worse. I thought that maybe I put too many ingredients in it or the meat I used (beef) was not of pristine quality. But maybe it was the toxic effect you’re talking about in this video? In any case, I will try the chicken bones broth in my newly bought pressure cooker and do hope it will bring some improvement. Fingers crossed 🤞

My mother was from Europe, Old Country and she made soup so tasty it was to die for. Unknowns to me, it was bone broth with a little meat or chicken.

Your right, .

A TRUE medical doctor.
My hat's off to him.

P.S.: concerning iodine sea salt:
I’ve learned from another podcast that iodine needs to be taken with selenium (two Brazilnuts per day contain all you need of it) in order to be bio-available for the thyroid.
Same goes for Calcium which in order to be absorbed by your bones and teeth needs to be taken in with Vitamin D, which needs to be taken with K2, which only works if taken with some oil or fat. ...It’s making you dizzy

Yes he is looking for attention.bone broth is good in our healing journey 😊
@Yay-hovah How about generations of people around the world going back 1000s of years, sometimes you just don't need science to prove something works.
The glycine/methionine balance is what is important. It's not about restricting methionine, it's about balancing glycine with the methionine to get the longevity benefits.
And how is said balance obtained?
Yeah. I’d like to know your take as well.
Tho we all age. He’s been on here a while. Genetics. Too. Sun exposure etc. not all doctors do as they say.
Humans do better eating meat. At least this human 😮
Every vegan /vegetarian I’ve know personally has aged prematurely (and usually has a big saggy butt from all those carbs)! NB. All 3-4 of them.
He looks good to me. That said. I don’t agree with much of what he says. I like his analysis. His conclusion I’m usually not in agreement with.
He’s always got something to “sell” after his presentations
I believe Bone broth has a lot of fat in it and it's beneficial to our bodies!
Also bone marrow
Absolutely… yet our FDA says “FAT BAD.”
Just so happens they also just about forced us to take big Pharmas clot shot too…
If we’re unhealthy, they make $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
To all who succumbed to the horrific propaganda and fascist clot shot campaign, I pray for you. 🙏
Protein is not good, carbs are not good, fats are not good, what are we supposed to eat ? Mushrooms only?
Eat what makes you feel good. Don’t worry about the sugar molecule in meat. Saturated fat is awesome. You don’t have to believe everything mentioned on youtube. Notice everything comes with the word “ can be” “ has shown to” . This is not science

@@CoreyShelton57 Bone Density scan or medically "Dexascan".

I prefer the taste of gray Celtic sea salt and I prefer purple sea moss as a source of iodine as well as many other trace minerals.
I'm drinking homemade chicken bone broth. and I added a little Ghee, 1chopped garlic clove and a little organic lemon. I feel that it hydrates me when I take it in the morning ( empty) stomach 👊💯
I swear i have never seen a bone broth consumer with terrible skin and collagen!
mTOR needs to cycle on and off (fasting and feeding). It's not as simple as just shutting off mTOR
Also, collagen is digested into tri and di-peptides and are absorbed without hydrolysis.
So cancer survivors should avoid eating chicken of all kinds you mean?
I live in Australia and we turn tonight but anything much if we don’t have to. I’ll have to check and see what they do with the chickens here in that case.
@@letsplaywitheesa1668

Dr. Gundry, Question about using unflavored beef gelatin powder as a supplement or cooking different dishes like stews, soups, and desserts or adding to drinks( coffee, tea, etc.)?
Not only is bone broth incredibly low in calories, it provides so many benefits. People of all cultures, including us somalis, have it as a staple.
I just started using ancient nutrition which is a powder from collagen bone broth that Dr Berg recommends. I've noticed that I do feel better.
I also try to mix in quality animal protein ... organ meats ... bone marrow as well. ... the best of carnivore
All that being said, in comparison to meat eaters ... with vegans having the lowest Methionine consumption in their diets ...
There went hungry more and fasted for longer periods
Lastly, Methionine levels are almost none existent during a long fast. So, the amount and type of protein are important ... the feeding window/timing is also important
I like how you all are assuming he’s saying it’s bad. He’s not! He’s giving a recipe for it at the end!
I’m currently making a grass grazed buffalo bone broth in a crockpot. I have a good farmer market with a good variety of everything.

I’m going to get a 16qt pot to replace the 8qt I got. I love the stuff me n dogs eat from the same pot .
Sorry but I wouldn’t take advice from a doctor who claims to know about nutrition but could be a double for Santa clause
lol
🤔 I find it quiet ironic that you gave a recipe for bone broth after all you’ve said about it’s negative side .. what message that would send to your viewers? You can’t have it both ways ..
