- Here's a tutorial I made to convert a Bird Scooter for personal use.
Now it is generally VERY plug and play, but if you want to use some of the more advanced features you'll need to use a bluetooth app.
Also, I mention that I used a "Pro" board as a replacement so I can see my speed. The "Pro" board actually requires a different firmware to fully function. I used a UA-cam guide here to resolve that: • How to install Xiaomi ...

Would it help to heat the sticker first to soften the glue?
Great video! Thanks for making it! I found when taking mine apart (same situation - impounded Bird) when pulling the plug apart at minute 4:43, they were actually glued on. There was white glue on the sides. I scrapped it off with a knife and was able to pull it apart. The board on one of two Birds beeped at me when I disconnected the green board. And, I found that at 6:22, several of the screws were missing. The coloration of materials and state was definitely different between units.

@@ProstatePunch I got one to work and the other did not work. What do you think is the issue? Dead battery? All the wiring seemed correct. Also, do you need to install the app or is that optional?
@@LemanRuss77 App is optional. What happens when you plug in the charger? Does the charger change color?
@@ProstatePunch no effect when I plug in charger. There is no color change

You have to replace it. You can use a standard, or a pro. I used a pro on the one in the video, but the standard works just fine (I prefer the standard, to be honest)
Gps is alwais active or only when u unlock acooter for use

I don't think it will, as this is just for the m365, regardless of company.
Unfortunately, I don't have the access to buy one of the new Bird scooters so I can't make a video ☹️

Honestly. I probably will sometime this year when I have to replace the wheels. Should be breaking the out for the better weather here soon

I'm not sure what alarm you're mentioning. There's an audible beep (usually) when you yank the GPS, but mine didn't have alarms. Could be different with newer Bird systems or Lyft Scooters. I'd assume it would all be in the computer unit removed at the beginning though.

The research I've done tells me probably not. Most of the connections would be different and you wouldn't even be able to connect the board let alone flash it.
Are you able to get the mph and battery values to show on the display when in use? Or are you only able to on the app?
For the original board, only on the app. If you do a pro board conversion it will show there

In theory, except that they have GPS trackers in them and they know where they are at all times. You would essentially be disabling this and stealing it.
I don't recommend theft.

@@leximentos Yes, You have to take it out, its one of the first things I did. Its built into the board that's on there.

Can you simply disconnect the green plate and throw it away?

Take the green box on the column and pull it out dont cut the wires just pull it out.
It has one plug that is free and two that are connected to the scooter. After disconnecting u can ride it without gps or emergency brakes.
You can dwnload the hex files on the forums and use a 10$ usb to pin connector i forgot what its called to connect the controller to the laptop and be able to flash the controller.
Do not forget to buy a charger because if you put a switch on the battery for power you need to charge it to restart if it was completely off.

Edit: you need the green plate with gps on the column to run it after flashing. U need it removed until you get it home and connect it after flashing

You can buy a bird ES4 from Best Buy for $500. Some sites sell the refurbished Xiaomi M365 Pro for $350-400. I would only recommend getting these 2 scooters.

Jerrin Koshy The ES4 is the ES2 with extended battery. The ES3 is the ES1 with extended battery. The ES2 basically fixed all that was wrong with the ES1 like the suspension and low range for example.

I just checked my eBay purchase history and the original post / poster is gone.
So you need to find a m365 circuit board. Make sure you get one that's authentic. There's other UA-cam videos / sources to verify the board is authentic. Otherwise they won't work with the Mi app. There are aftermarket apps that work with the knockoffs though.

@@ProstatePunch I has only one at the handlebar? I beleive, that normally they are equipped with two, where the second one is under the frame.
@@jesusxXxlizzard birds that old only had one GPS module. im fairly certain all birds only have one GPS module. the 365 and es2/4 are on the top. the bird zero has it in the frame
When he turned the board over to unhook the harness you can see the sim card. Just yank that, and no matter where the GPS is, it can't talk back to Bird :P
You need to jumpstart the scooter. It has been dead for so long it needs a jump. Bird actually has a video on UA-cam on how to do it lol

It's just a DC motor, switch, and battery. Why do you need to keep all those electronics in there? You're just getting rid of the GPS module and rewiring a throttle switch between a battery and motor. That's how Amazon and wish sell that BS
Dot matter how many scooters they loose bird company are millionaires by now. I'm sure they dont mind loosing a few hundred.
