    I had a pacemaker implanted at 26 and had a keloid form that was painful 😥 for 11 years 😌 I tried everything and the docs recommended removing the pacemaker and getting a plastic surgeon to do a revision it was that bad...

    I ended up getting a new pacemaker at Stanford and had a plastic surgeon do the incision and had an injection to prevent a keloid and it worked, the keloid didn’t come back!!! So there is hope!!!🙏

    Thanks so much for this video, Dr. Dray! 😊I'm someone who has keloids pretty much all over: chest, back, shoulders, jawline. I've gone through countless treatments which have definitely taken a toll on me emotionally. Currently I'm a part of a keloid study at Parkland hospital here in Dallas. I've been a study participant since last October. I'm really hoping some type of permanent solution can help myself, and others who suffer from this painful condition. Thanks again for this informative and helpful vid. 💜

    My son, now 9yrs, spilled boiling water (he was making ramen in the microwave) on his leg a little over a year ago and we did not realize the scar was keloidal until we went in for how bad it itches and how dry it is. The doctor referred us to a dermatologist so I am trying to think of questions for the doctor and get an idea of what may happen. This video was super educational, I really appreciate it!

    Thanks for a great video! Back in the day, I had c-sections for all of my now-adult-children. I had horrendous c-section scars. In 2000 I had a tummy tuck. None of my ob-gyn doctors, nor my plastic surgeon for my tummy tuck told me about the silicone scar sheets. Yet they all saw my scarring, whether it be hypertrophic or keloid. More recently, I had to have a bilateral mastectomy, followed over time with expansion and reconstruction surgery, and was not told about these scar sheets. The plastic surgeon that I worked with for the year long event even mentioned the pronounced scarring. Without a basis of comparison, I had no way of knowing that it's worse than the typical outcome. I wish any single one of these doctors would have given me a heads up about this possible treatment.
    Oh well. Now I know. (grumpy face emoji)

    I have a couple of fairly small (although very red) 13 year old keloids on the middle of my chest. I got a treatment plan for 4 rounds of injections and laser. After two treatments and 900 dollars later the results were not even close to what I was hoping for.. so I canceled the rest of the treatment. It flattened them a fair amount, although just a few months later it feels like they are already puffing back up a little. The treatment did lighten the redness a fair amount as well but that also quickly started coming back. Don't waste your money unless you have disposable income. I'm posting this on as many keloid videos as I can to spare people from wasting there money like I did. Unfortunately they call them scars for a reason.

      @EAprima 3 роки тому +6

      @@pranjalbhosale1892 I had a body injection (steroids) for my chest and both sides of my corner jawbone that was caused by a spot/s. The steroids injected in my chest was the most powerful and turn the skin pure white but the colour came back to normal after one year. The one on my jawbone took multiple injections to prevent extreme skin whitening on the face (which is not good as you need to stay protected from the sun other than not looking good). The one on my left side disappeared but the one on my right side got smaller and didn't disappear. I needed to go for more injections for my right jawbone but I got so conscious from losing my skin colour I decided to give it a break. After several months, the left jawbone keloid came back and the one on the right grew. The keloid on my chest also came back, but it was small. The issue is you can get injections but what is vital is learning steps of HOW TO PREVENT them from coming back in the first place. I will get the injections done again when the pandemic calms down which will hopefully be later this year.
      My strongest advice for anyone who is looking to get their Keloid removed, as much as you learn how to remove it, also put the same energy in learning how to prevent reoccurrence. If you get the advice from the doctors, make sure they give you clear cut answers otherwise you'll need to figure it out somewhere else.

      @@EAprima if your keloids came back is it really worth it to get the injections?
      Because I also have it on my right jaw side and from your description even if I get the injections there’s no grantee it will be permanently gone?
      Also we’re you able to find any helpful solution on how to avoid a re-growth after the injections?

    I had keloids on my earlobes that I got as a teenager. What worked for me was having the scars surgically removed and a week of concentrated radiation on the earlobes after to stop them from returning. It’s a small thing in life but it has improved my mentality and well being greatly not having the visible scars. I’ll always have some of my other keloid scars on my shoulder and who knows where else but that’s ok.

    I don’t know if it’s related, or can help other viewers, but I swear I correlated my keloids to dissolvable stitches. I had multiple surgeries for melanoma removal, and every site that had dissolvable stitches developed keloids, whilst removable stitch sites did not! My plastic surgeon used the BBL laser with some success, but he had a new laser in the office and a few zaps of that and my keloids were almost vanished! Wish I remembered the laser name though 😩.

    Hi Dr Dray. Love all your videos, I have learned so much. My son has many of these keloid scars. The worst on his shoulders. Very red and very raised. Since he is still growing I was wondering if you would have any different suggestions for treating them? Do they flatten as the skin stretches with growth?

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  5 років тому

      unfortunately they don't flatten with time and on that area they can be very stubborn; injections can help alot, but can be painful to endure

      I know this is a late reply and I hope you read this, I suffer from keloids and I have had them for nearly 20 years. I will give you some advice, if your son can see a dermatologist please do, they can help. Stay away from surgery, I had it done and it was a big mistake. Elastaplast has there own scar sheets, they are the best in my opinion. Retin a helps with older scars, mainly with the hyperpigmentation. Compression is key when they are still new, but don't dismiss it if the scars are old. Taking hyaluronic acid supplementation has helped me fade old scars over time. If your son is concious about his scars please tell a handsome man with scars is still a handsome man, the biggest problem with keloids is the self esteem issue that comes with it, yes they a permanent but with care they can fade, most of mine are 70% faded but it has taken a long time. I hope this helps anyone who reads this.

    I've had a pea sized, round, dark keloid smack bang in the middle of my chest for 2 years now, most likely from picking a scab (I can't even remember picking it but my doctor said that's most likely what it was). it looks like a pimple from far away, but it's firm and keloid type. Had a cortisone injection that basically got rid of it (with some discolouration like yours), but returned ~6 months later. I now have a pimple scar in the middle of my forehead that's starting to look like it'll form a keloid scar. It's honestly damaged my self-esteem and is so frustrating. I pray there's a solution :(

The doctor asked me if I had keloid skin and I said no since I have my ears pierced and prior surgery with no instance of keloids. It does run in my family but I thought it was the one issue I wasn’t doomed with…wrong. I regret telling him no I didn’t everyday. I was putting silicone pads on everyday and it itches so bad that I stopped and the liquid one isn’t as good. One side flattened but the other side got bigger; which is somewhat of a win. Another great video, thanks! We pierced my 7 year old daughter’s ears 6 months ago. I believe she has developed keloid scarring because of it. Any tips besides that constant pressure for that many hours a day and 6-12 months? I’ve brought her into the pediatrician’s office three times that did the piercing because the skin is so sensitive, thick, and red we thought it was infected. The nurse said she’s happy with how it’s healing but there is a definite thickening to the skin. Also I would love to know your opinion on a hypertrophic scar with track marks? Anything that can be done for those marks besides an excision? I went to a well known plastic surgeon in the area that did an IPL laser on it twice which did nothing.
