It was this video that a) helped me realized I have hypertrophic scars not keloids and b) educated me on cortisteroid shots for scars! I plan to show this to any doctor that I get the shot from!

I’ve had injections many years ago on rather large keloids on my shoulder and small ones on my shoulder. They flattened completely. Had discoloration and the MD ordered a crack to bring my color back. They never came back. However, I got a small pimple on my chest, scratched it and got a different new keloid that Is so large now and painful. Will do injections again soon, I’m so ready. It was completely worth it for me the first time.

Awesome and clear description of her process. I am working with a doctor in NJ for a palm scar due to an injury and subsequent large degloving avulsion. In six years I have had six different doctors and even a full excise of the scar and skin graft a year ago, but now dealing with scar tissue that formed at edges of graft. This is a painful scar, not technically a keloid, but some kind of hypertrophic scar and seems to want to live on my palm no matter what. Anyway I'm going to share Dr. Ogylene's opinions with my doctor about getting more aggressive first, then diluting the potency in subsequent injections. I'm coming up to my fourth injection with six week intervals and I see some small results, but this is really dragging and because its my palm it's a bit debilitating especially considering the entire 6 year journey. I love my doctor though and he is very accommodating, intelligent and cautious so Im going to continue to trust his scar treatment regiment, but in the future I may need to consult this doctor and travel to Philly.

@@mounag8518I have the same 😔 as you. It was acne than it turns out to a keloid scar at the side jaw on my left side of my face. It's been there for maybe more than 2 years. I went to the doctors and had a referral to the plastic surgeon but my referral got declined because it's not more health risk and it's more cosmetic. I am always hiding it with a plaster that how I'm not confident with my skin looking at the left side. I have to wait until lockdown is over and decrease to level 1 or 2 in NZ so there is a specific doctor that can remove it himself hopefully, I hope the doc can remove it. I am loosing my confident, and self esteem with keloid scar. I have being using plaster to hide it, well not that big just looks like a medium circle pimple. I wish there are other ways to remove it.

    • @mounag8518

Mary Fifita From my own experience, I will not advice you to go the surgery route. If it’s the size of a pimple then try cortisone injection. I will do the cortisone injection on the bigger one on my jaw. About keloids surgery: i have a keloid on my chest from an acnee pimple i squeezed. It was growin up and was 6 cm long and about 2 cm large. I removed, got cortisone injection and some other thing injected in it after the surgery. In less than 2 years it came back twice bigger. I got a second surgery with cortisone and some other trial drug injected in it. It grew back bigger again. Surgery is almost 100% garanty to come back worst than the initial keloid. Now i am tired of the one one my chest and just leave it alone . Its almost 15 cm long and 2 cm wide. Do they affect my confidence, yes and no. I just hate when people ask me what they are and i have to explain it to them. Wish you good luck and dont let them affect your confidence

    • @mounag8518
      @mounag8518 4 роки тому +1

Mary Fifita Depends on the size but you usually have injections every couple of weeks ( very painfull in bigger keloid they usually numb the keloid first) . All the cortisone does is make it flatter to be almost at you skin level and make the appearance better. If ur keloid is not big, there is big chances that cortisone injection will work well for ya

have a couple of fairly small (although very red) 13 year old keloids on the middle of my chest. I got a treatment plan for 4 rounds of injections and laser. After two treatments and 900 dollars later the results were not even close to what I was hoping for.. so I canceled the rest of the treatment. It flattened them a fair amount, although just a few months later it feels like they are already puffing back up a little. The treatment did lighten the redness a fair amount as well but that also quickly started coming back. Don't waste your money unless you have disposable income. I'm posting this on as many keloid videos as I can to spare people from wasting there money like I did. Unfortunately they call them scars for a reason.

i think the real problem is that they have the nerve to charge you $900 for just 2 rounds. It may have worked if you had all 4 rounds which is the minimum recommended amount for effective keloid flattening. I am sure you wouldnt have minded completing all 4 if they were charging a more reasonable rate like $60 per injection round. Thats like what a body piercer charges. The us medical industry is obscene. Doctors seem to take that do no harm oath so seriously but overcharging causes many people to forgo treatment or go into terrible debt. Thats harmfull. Doctors are gonna say this is a terrible idea probably but unless they wanna offer an affordable alternative just go online and buy the injectable solution yourself and get a nurse or piercer or vet who knows how to be sterile to inject it for you. I found a bottle for $60 online and it was delivered to me without prescription. Packaging looks legit. I havent tried it yet cuz covid happened and i am waiting for things to improve. Never thought it would be so long tho. Honestly why arent more people pushing for universal healthcare right now?

I had 5 or 6 keloid scars from acne on my back/ shoulders. My worse ones were maybe half an inch sticking out. After injections one time they all flattened completely or 90% flattened. Instead of going for another round of therapy I was happy with my results. For some it might take multiple visits. I’ve gotten pimples on the same spots since and thankfully no keloid came back. @@christiankyleacbang9439 I just came from having injections today. I have a relatively large scar on my neck from a parathyroidectomy, that has been itching, burning and I was getting sharp pain every once in a while. She injected it 7 times in different areas, it hurt like hell. I balled my fists and teared up a little at one point I had her stop so I could catch my breath. My expectation was that it would stop hurting shortly after the injection was done. This was at 11:45. I could barely drive back to work, thought I was going to have to pull over because the pain was so bad I broke out in a sweat and felt nauseous. Pain was SUPER INTENSE, couldn't turn my neck, couldn't touch it, even the wind blowing on it was excruciating. Got to work with the expectation of putting an ice pack on it (covered in a towel) couldn't even put the ice pack/towel on my skin. The pain was an INTENSE searing and stabbing pain...thought I was going to break out in tears at one point I actually said to myself I would rather give birth than go through this pain again lol. I took 3 500mg Tylenol at around 12:40pm It is now 3:20 and the pain has lessened, but it's still there. Like it will stop for about 15 - 30 minutes, then the searing/stabbing pain comes again, but much less severe. I called my derm back around 12:45 because the pain was SO BAD and she said to just alternate between the Tylenol and 800mg Ibuprofen. I ALSO got injected in another smaller keloid (just one injection) at the same time and had absolutely NO PAIN from that injection (other than when the Kenalog was injected). Don't know if it matters but that smaller keloid was from acne, not surgery, so not sure if this makes a difference. So I would probably take some Tylenol about 45 minutes before appointment and ask if they can give you a local numbing agent or anesthesia (if you are going to get multiple injections) because MAN the pain!!! NO JOKE. I honestly don't know if I'll be going back for my next injection in March. Will have to do some SERIOUS thinking on it lol.

Find alternative treatment for your daughter, kenalog can cause type 2 diabetes, hypertension, immune suppression and adrenal issues for her. Which is a more dangerous situation that the keloids can ever cause please

I have one keloid scar on my chest and 5 on my back and I used to have steroid injection for them and I can tell u from my experience the injections only flatten them and sometimes they make them a lot worse .. the only way to get rid of them is surgery ...

I'm getting steroid injections every 6 weeks, I've had 3 injections so far the itching stopped, I use raw Shea butter on the scar, I have small scars on my scalp from getting haircuts from the barber, so all I know I have to get injections for a year, I ask my dermatologist will hair grow back after a year, and he said he doesn't know so I'm just waiting for a year to pass and go from there.

Hi everyone, I stopped the steroid injections, it helped stopped the itching and pain, but since it's located on my scalp I have a flatten scar which is now a bald spot and the doctor at the time refused to do hair treatment so I stopped going back, so I went to see a different doctor to see a different opinion to get my hair back and he recommended prp treatment, I agreed with him only thing he wants $1500 cash or debit, so I have to save up for it and see results, once again it's now flatten scars size of a dime on my head that's bald spots so now I'm saving up to get PRP Treatment to get my hair back hopefully my information is helpful to you all good luck.

Im in a similar situation, considering the mix of FU and TAC (Kenalog) injections. I don’t think laser therapy or an excision will help, likely make things worst. I’ve been doing shots every month with little progress if any. Positive updates on your end? @honorable man

Is it safe to extract a keloid at home using homeopathic remedies or would it be advisable to see a dermatologist first?

mali carter it is advisable to see a dermatologist first.

Don't bother with these home remedies, I've used many combinations and they didn't work. I've also used silicone gels for over 7 years & not a single improvement in size or texture, they are a waste time & money. So is steroid injections, and Freezing the keloids.
I have a product which will get rid of all your keloids in a few weeks. It will drain the fluid/moisture out of the keloids slowly killing it layer by layer. See the link below.
