CLIP DESCRIPTION:
A rude Cable Guy (Jim Carrey) shows up late to install Steven's (Matthew Broderick) cable television.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Originally planned as a silly vehicle for Chris Farley, in the hands of director Ben Stiller and star Jim Carrey, The Cable Guy became an opportunity for Carrey to flex some of his darker comedic muscles as stalker Chip Douglas. Matthew Broderick plays Steven, an average Joe who is forlorn over his recent breakup with girlfriend Robin (Leslie Mann). When he moves into a new apartment, Steven comes in contact with Chip, who shows up to hook up the cable. Before he knows it, and whether he likes it or not, Steven has a new best-friend in the obnoxious and clingy Chip. However, Steven soon learns that obnoxious is a walk in the park compared to Chip's behavior when Steven tells him he doesn't want to be his pal anymore. What's worse, no one -- including Robin or his family -- believes Steven when he accuses the seemingly harmless Chip of being a malevolent menace. George Segal and Jack Black also star along with Stiller, who plays twins loosely-based on the Menendez brothers.

It's so hard to be creepy and funny, but Jim Carrey nailed it!
it really creeped me out as a kid comon in real life you would be very unfomfortable if u met him. would you wanna be friends wirth him?
I've always laughed when Matthew closes his sleeping robe when Jim fingers the wall, it´s so freaky haha
the cable guy could be gay, lol
“Yeah, this is the sweet spot, right here” 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
There is some ...undertones in this movie for sure.
Same lol
This movie took full advantage of Jim Carrry`s manic performance and made it chilling and hilarious. This is probably his best movie.
I still think Dumb and Dumber was his best.
@@HitokiriShaggyTTV wait... Ace ventura
@@priyachoudhary9896 it's really good bit I think dumb and dumber was a brilliantly written and acted movie.
@@priyachoudhary9896 the second one, surely. I even liked it even better than the first.
He definitely earned all $20million!! My favorite film of his! The Mask was the cat pajamas too!!!
Doesn't get the credit it deserves. Love this movie!
TBnMe2013 yes lol him entering the apartment is how i felt every time installing cable lol yeah i loved using that "they used to have a lotta cats" line hahahaha
TBnMe2013 criminally underrated
TBnMe2013 think about it there are so many movies in the 90's with this kind of stalker/friend story. Fear, juice, cape fear they all make this movie play second fiddle not to mention the cast lists were better
Yeah back when it came out nobody paid attention to the psychological aspects of it, all they had on their minds was “Jim Carrey was too scary! Terrible movie!” Now it’s gotten a cult following and has been read a little deeper.
supermariofan03 that new movie called Greta with Chloe Grace Moretz was extremely similar to this movie without the comedy parts lmao. All I could think about when watching that movie was Jim Carrey in The Cable Guy 😂
"This go to your boss?"
"No it goes to me!" 😂😂😂
Trevor Donegan That should have been Steven's glaring red alert warning flag that Chip didn't work for The Cable Company. -.-
This is the most bizarre masterpiece ever.
Ben stiller was the man in these days
Perfectionis.... *PerfectionisTUH!!!*

Perfectionisssss T
well maybe I shouldn't have come at all, JERKOFF XD
🤣🤣🤣🤣
If Jim Carrey was a teacher he would be the one all the kids would want.
Johnathan Hasd He would turn all the kids into mini Jim carrys
Johnathan Hasd I wish
Id find him creepy even as a kid. If he tries to cheer me up with his antic, Id be just pissed. Unless if hes this zen and artistic kind of guy he is now, Id find him interesting as a kid.
Lol a teacher fingering the white board?
Do you mean Jim Carrey in general, or him in this movie? Cause he is a total psycho in this movie and you actually later find out that he got fired from his cable job for stalking people...
watch this and then think about how good Jim's acting is here...one of the best comedic actors all time
underrated movie is underrated.
+Grigori Rasputin PG-13
+he chit lawl
he chit so you couldn't see it? that's too bad kid.
Grigori Rasputin1990 all the movies were this great in the 90s and early 2000’s
There're live a certain man, in Russian long ago
A beautiful movie with a very original plot, its a pity that it was underestimated.
Matthew Broderick closing his robe is one of the most subtle, unspoken great jokes in comedy movies
The talent that Carrey has is astounding. There will never be anyone like him again
LMAO! As a kid, when I saw Chip fingering the wall, I thought, "Chip is stupid! He is tickling the wall!" LOL! Wow! How naively innocent I was as a kid! ^.^
He was feeling not fingering
John Smith Looks like fingering to me. ;)
I think “caressing” or “fondling the wall” makes more sense
Hahahahaha!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When I was 15 I watched this movie with my family, I felt uncomfortable
Jim Carrey is worth watching.
andee no
This is one of his craziest performances
This movie is so underrated.
This film is so iconic. It's almost impossible to not love it.
0:49 JC acting is amazing, the portrayal of frustration when saying "perfectionist."
As a Cable Tech myself this scene is halarious
It’s when someone in the real life job responds that you know you’re a success.
"Is this what you want, háh?" How about this...ooh yeah" lol
Lt Mojo Risin it's a movie calm down
Mojo Risin cfffgtt
Jim makes any shot movie look good
Probably one of the funniest films I've ever seen, why this was so panned I will never know
shoutsatpigeons it’s great but if you want something even funnier, try “Grown ups” with Adam Sandler, Chris rock, Rob Schneider. Me and my wife literally had tears running down our face, never laughed so hard at a film!
Jonathan wha…you thing grown ups is funnier than this???
Jonathan gtfo
@@nickimillennium True... this feels like a mid 2000s comedy
@@Fluffyolphert Interesting, that's when Apatow and Stiller were at their respective highs.
Underrated film. Everyone thinks a movie has to have an amazing story line to be good, but sometimes we just want comedy.
Jesus Christ!! Why does everyone say that every 90s film is underrated!!!!!!!
@@emilianovilla1971 You said it too
@@hidden9549 80s and 90s were the peak. It changed in the 2000s when more comedies turned to gross-out toilet humor such as Date Movie, Epic Movie, and crap like that.
And sometimes we just want Jim Carrey lmao
As a fellow cable installer, i can confirm this is 100% accurate
From being 4 hours late, to fingering walls to find a cable access, and everything between
“They had a lot of cats.”
Every line Jim delivers as Chip is just amazing.
Don't even care that this was panned by critics, I loved this movie growing up, at one point I used to watch it every day
Everyday? Lol
That's one big reason movies fail, people listen to critics and read reviews instead of seeing it themselves.
Person A: "Man this movie blows"
Person B: "Glad I didn't listen to other people, this rocked"
Me too, man xD used to watch it pretty often growing up.
Me too...i had it recorded in VHS when I was 12 and watched it almost everyday... ahhahahaha
That was me with the mask 😂, still one of my all time favorite movies
1:49 Haha, he's so insanely weird.. What if your cable guy really was this kind of weirdo? I can't even imagine that.. Jim Carrey does a fantastic job in this underrated movie!
What is he doing though?
@@Shrekpooop Finding the best spot for the cable to come through the wall.
@@aarongreenfield9038 then why is Matthew Broderick covering his chest?
@@Shrekpooop Because of the way the cable guy is being so creepy about it fingering the wall and such, it made Matthew feel very uncomfortable.
@@aarongreenfield9038 so what is Jim doing, pretending that the spot on the wall is a woman’s nipple or something.
I always wondered what happened to the real cable guy that was supposed to come
LOVE this movie! One of Carey's best. When he walks into the restaurant dressed as Freddie Mercury, and beats the crap out of Owen Wilson LOL
I die laughing every time I see that scene! My favorite part
Jim Carrey's acting performance is always impressive to the degree 😎🔥
Who is here after the Super Bowl Commercial?
Always thought Jim Carrey’s character had a crush on Steven in this movie, the going out for dinner at medieval times, the way he acts when he gets blown off from Steven, free theater set up, the i always thought we had something special going on line, the jealousy of robin towards the end. Etc
I remember someone saying that it would have made more sense for Chip to have been gay and be in love with Steven rather than just wanting him as a Friend.
Yeah but he does try to help him and Robin get back together, plus later on in the film he uses her to make him angry by saying she showed him her birth mark on her shoulder, and when he’s in jail he says “don’t worry I’ll take good care of Robin”
"Thats your sweet spot right there" HAHAHAHAHA
i fucking love jim carrey
собиржон
One of my all time favorites. Classic comedy. Jim Carrey plays this part perfectly. No one else could have played the part better. The way it ended left open an opportunity for a great sequel. Have Carrey committed but now years later, have him finally released.
I'm kind of a perfectionissss.. perfectionisssst!
No, the t was a completely separate sound to the second perfectionis with a moment of silence as he struggled with his tongue.
my dad walked in and heard jim carrey moaning
"Perfectioniss....
Perfectionisssssss...T" 😂
"Never thought they'd get the floors clean after what happened"
Me thinking there was a Murder or Somthing
"They had alot of cats" Lmao
Jesse Saucedo I think that’s what they wanted you to think, until the punch line lol😂😂
And another one was when he finally manages to get him to go and see the big antenna, when their in his van he goes “buckle up, I’ve had a few drinks” 😂
Google
Hahah Jim always is a head but this time the way he changed his tongue speaking is awesome.
I found this movie pretty funny even though i was a little kid back then
That's irrelevant
Still funny
I remember renting Cable Guy when I was 14
lol I saw this in theatre's twice. So funny!
His face when he was fingering the wall XD
Yeah and Matthew Brodrick closes his robe more. XD
That's your sweet spot right there.
1:52
He wasn’t fingering the wall, he was playing with its nipples :D
Wisam Safi Are you sure? It looks like he is fingering the wall to me. ;)
1:50 ehmmm yeeess LOL
my favorite scene
The Cable Guy out here fixing Ferris Buhler's cable
matthew's expressions are always iconic 😂
Simba the lion & Horton the Elephant
This film was amazing! Ppl say this was bad career choice for Jim carrey but I say the film was perfection
Jim is sooooo talented guy
Best comic actor ever.
Chip Douglas is like a human Daffy Duck.
When he said perfectionist. I never realized he was fighting back his lisp. 0:)
Noah J. Herrera I love the irony in a Perfectionist struggling to say the word "Perfectionist,". LMAO! :D
his best work...
+Jerry “Heisenberg” Smith yes is so weird in every movie is a completely different person i don't know how he make it
truman show
It's crazy watching this movie as a kid, then as an adult, and realizing just how DARK this movie is.
cable guy is the best Jim Carrey movie i wish they made a sequel of this movie
When Simba meet The Mask.
What about Ferris Bueller meets Lloyd Christmas?
This movie is hilarious (also Jim Carrey is so damn cute)
Imagine Jim Carrey being the Principal in Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Matthew Broderick must have been like 😮 [jaw on the floor] this entire scene LMAO 😂😂
True😂😂
I'm kind of a perfectionisss (looks away) Perfectioniss...ttt. (even with this simple line you realize what a class act Jim does in this movie).
1:59. Hank was born and evolved in "me, myself and irene"
Lol
this should be in movie award.. or oscar
Jim got an Award or at least a Nomination for Best Villain. :)
The Super Bowl brought me here
The most underrated movie of all time
And it references Waterworld which is what I consider the most underrated movie ever!
One of the most underrated Jim Carrey movies
Can you believe he did "Liar Liar," right after this?
So many genius moments in this movie, the basketball scene, that Filter song starts playing, "let's see what you got white shadow " dunking off Jack Black with that guitar solo, freakin hilarious
This movie was excellent! Saw it in the theater
0:36 I thought it would be a scary story but they had alot of cats.
Steven's apartment number is 42. 42 is the meaning of life. Steven is unsure of the meaning of his life. Also, battery powerder tools sucked back then.
1:50 how about this?
Ohh yaaa lol
The cable guy is funny with Jim Carrey.
Jim reminds me of spencer from icarly
PizzaJohn Yes, Spencer played by Jerry Trainor did seem like early Jim Carrey. Actually, Crazy Steve also played by Jerry Trainor is more like The Cable Guy. Crazy Steve would be calm one moment and start acting like a maniac the next moment like The Cable Guy. :)
"Thats the sweet spot"
This movie came out the same year I started doing cable. I was thoroughly interested, to say the least lol
Am I the only one who would hang out with Chip? Guy seems like a riot to be around 😂😂
this could be a cool pad...
This film’s existence is amazing. But I’m glad it does.
I watched this the other night on Netflix’s it made me laugh so much but the more I watched the more creeped out I was he turned in to a real psychopath 😂
In the Original Script, it was straight up said that Chip needed help. I don't get why the "Chip needs help," line was cut from the Theatrical Release....
This movie is legendary
This film is absolutely brilliant, so many funny moments. I don’t know why more people haven’t seen this or even heard of it! Someone I work with was supposed to be a Jim Carey fan but they haven’t even seen this film, not really a fan then!
The comment card goes to him. 😂🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣
Debbie Nandalall yeah because he’s a profection isssssstttttttt!😂😂😂
Perfectionis......T!
1:03 when your weird friend visit your place for the first time.
Perfectionist!!
As a cable technician myself I completely relate to this scene
Jim carry and Mathew Broderick in the same movie. Something I never thought i would see
The camera work on Stillers part really added to the creepiness. The more I rewatch it, the more I respect the angles and even music chosen 👏🏻
I remember watching this in the theatre some time after Dumb and Dumber as a young teen. I didn’t like it at the time. Seems the older I get the better this movie is. Really is a gem.
If that were me, I'd be like, uuuuuhhhhh. Do you want me to leave.
I'd turn around and walk away pretending I didn't hear what he was doing.
jasminne mcdonald i find it strikingly odd i see your comments on majority of stuff i watch lmao this pebble n the penguin, disney, moulon rouge ect.
This was my first Jim Carrey movie
mine was The Mask too
Anjay Fonseca sdeddxesxsssqw
Mine was Ace Ventura
Anjay Fonseca my first was grinch
mine was Bruce Almighty
Perfectionisss.... T
honestly can't understand how this film has such poor to average ratings on the likes of rotten tomatoes and IMDb etc. Easily my fave Jim Carrey movie!
Fu Manchu people are such weenies and can’t stand top class comedy!
Because Jim Carrey has been on top of the world back in the 90s. So nobody cared about how psychological this movie could be, all they were expecting is another Ace Ventura or Dumb and Dumber type of Carrey performance. Thankfully this movie has gotten a cult following over the years.
Well critics can’t be trusted. They gave the last Jedi a good score and a great movie like this a poor score. Obviously critics must be smoking something.
Kev N1215 Well The Last Jedi is a great Star Wars Movie. (Minus The Casino scene)
This movie was great, but when I saw it was a Jim Carrey movie, I was expecting something like Ace Ventura, or Dumb and Dumber. Don't get me wrong, there were hilarious parts, but he was a total psycho in this movie😖!
Best rule for Jim Carrey, it plays right into his exaggerated acting, but grounded in a bit of reality. Not that Ace Ventura crap.
Sho Shteven...how is everything?
More like Tho Theven. ;) :)
HEY BUDDDDYYYYY!!!! 😆
If Jim Carrey was still young. Seeing in this movie the cable guy he would make a good mechanic.
I was like 7 years old when this came out and I loved it, still do now that I'm 25 one Jim Carey golden performances.
Jim Carrey should've won an Oscar for this performance. There I said it. 🤷♂
The first 30 seconds of this scene. Amazing XD
Man, young Jim Carrey was awesome
