CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The Cable Guy (Jim Carrey) antagonizes Steven (Matthew Broderick) at the county jail.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Originally planned as a silly vehicle for Chris Farley, in the hands of director Ben Stiller and star Jim Carrey, The Cable Guy became an opportunity for Carrey to flex some of his darker comedic muscles as stalker Chip Douglas. Matthew Broderick plays Steven, an average Joe who is forlorn over his recent breakup with girlfriend Robin (Leslie Mann). When he moves into a new apartment, Steven comes in contact with Chip, who shows up to hook up the cable. Before he knows it, and whether he likes it or not, Steven has a new best-friend in the obnoxious and clingy Chip. However, Steven soon learns that obnoxious is a walk in the park compared to Chip's behavior when Steven tells him he doesn't want to be his pal anymore. What's worse, no one -- including Robin or his family -- believes Steven when he accuses the seemingly harmless Chip of being a malevolent menace. George Segal and Jack Black also star along with Stiller, who plays twins loosely-based on the Menendez brothers.

Dont do that jesus your going to get me killed 🤣
yep.. we've ALL been there, oh. uh. excuse me. ha ha.... (runs away embarrassed!)
hahahahaha

I love this movie.
That part made me laugh! 😂

@@ricardoolguin961can you translate that to English
"I can be your best friend or your worst enemy"
I like this quote
Kyle Thompson Steven was a bit of a dick to him, chip gave him free cable, friendship, offered him that karaoke set with a big TV and got him laid and Steven was still being a little bitch.
Pazuzu the free cable, kareoke Machine, and t.v all where stolen plus he didn't get him laid he framed him
Kyle Thompson In the original script, Chip said,"I can be your best friend or your worst enemy. I'm hoping you'll choose the latter. I mean the former. You know what I mean." LOL. I think the original script would have been hilarious in the theatrical version. :D
To be fair, Steven asked HIM for the free cable, not the other way around. It looked like Chip was going to leave Steven alone after he signed the paperwork, as he was already leaving Steven's apartment, and then Steven implied in a roundabout way that he wanted free cable if he gave Chip $50.
Anyone that gives you that ultimatum is a psycho. Trust me.
I'm so glad this is gaining a cult following. People just weren't ready for dark Jim Carrey at the time.
supermariofan03 I was thinking the same thing, I've always thought this movie was brilliant
I think i know why people weren't ready for a dark Jim Carrey comedy at the time. The film was gonna be a lighter comedy with Chris Farley in the title role, but when Ben Stiller singed up to direct the film, he changed the tone, added in dark psychological humor, and casted Carrey after Farley turned it down due to scheduling conflicts.
Patrick Shields and history was made, thank God. No disrespect to Farley
Oscar Sims I'm not a Farley fan either but i don't think he's terrible either.
Patrick Shields for this concept, It would've been a disaster
The most underrated Jim Carrey movie ever!
@Michael My favorite is The Truman Show followed by Dumb and Dumber and then The Cable Guy.
@Michael Agreed. Hell you can say Dumb and Dumber, the first Ace Ventura, then there is The Mask. So many great movies it's hard to pick a favorite.
Agreed they don't make good movies like this .
He made my 90s comedy memorable along with Robin Williams
Cali definitely ace ventura goat and dumb and dumber
"Hey Bernie, how's that sports package?" LMAO!
It's like he has the whole town in his back pocket!
@@MiyaTakamura I love that gag -
And the white cop who arrested Steve was in that party with stolen electronics lol
Lies again? Target Marketplace
Bernie: 😉👌🏼
Cable guy is Jim’s masterpiece. Criminally underrated flick
the BEST comedy in my opinion pretty much of all time
I agree.
CRIMINALLY.
The only reason it is underated is the pathetic mass audience was expecting another Ace Ventura juvenile type humor... not a dark, sophisticated sometimes surreal comedy.
its his #1 movie imo. I dont get why it has bad reviews. Freaking CLASSIC
I did the nipple thing against a glass divider at a co-worker. It was a great success.
Roy Batty what was that sceen from?
what was this scene from
I cracked up when I saw that. He didn't event need to say Midnight Express. It's was a perfect send up of it
Roy Batty your a legend
Did you still keep your job?
I just imagine him as the joker and talking to batman and says " dont worry about Robin"
Jim would be an amazing Joker
JaegerBomb1892 He has already been in a Batman movie and he played the Riddler. Joker is more menacing and twisted. I think he suits the role of the Riddler pretty well.
+kidzbop411 Batman couldn't stop The Joker from beating the 2nd Robin to Death with a Crowbar. Jim Carrey played a version of The Riddler who was a total whacko.
Laila???
kidzpob411 is your name laila

This scene is near and dear to my heart. When this movie came out, my son was 3 years old. They showed the "Ohhhhhh, BILLLLLLY" segment on the TV commercials advertising this movie constantly. My son, who did watch TV often when he was 3 apparently took all this in, because one day we were at a bbq at my friend's house. Me, my friend, and a couple others were chatting in the kitchen when one of the guys says "Uh.....what is that kid doing over there???" I turned around and there was my 3 year old son standing outside at the slider door with his shirt up, his nipple pressed against the glass and you can see him mouthing "Ohhhhhhhh, BILLLLLY!!!!" as he did. Needless to say, we all fell down laughing and you can't imagine how proud I was of my boy! He's 28 and married now and we still talk about that day fondly. lol

I think if they would have made Deadpool 20 years ago Jim Carrey would have played him
He needs to come back as Riddler.
If they'd made Deadpool 20 years ago it would've been crap.

Jim Carrey impersonating Midnight Express is amazing haha. Love that movie! And I love this movie even more :DDD
I watched midnight express recently and absolutely lost it when that scene came on. I got it immediately... god damn it was such an unexpected funny from a serious scene

It's crazy watching this movie as a kid, then as an adult and realizing just how DARK this movie is.
This is just one my favorite movies. And my friends thought I was crazy. Jim Carey is just genius.
Leave it to boundary pusher, Jim Carrey, to take one of the most tragic and 💔heart breaking moments in movie history - and SPOOF it to perfection!!
What a comic genius Carrey is!
Still my favorite Jim Carrey movie ever. “JESUS CHRIST YOURE GONNA GET ME KILLED!” 😂

Really, REALLY scary.
Jim Carrey should do more dark stuff.
Chip is more creepy(Maybe disturbing)than scary to me. ;)
Watch dark crimes a movie he did in 2018
Yea scarily funny 😂
Chip pretends to be a Lawyer in The Cable Guy. Then Jim Carrey plays a Lawyer in Liar Liar the very next year. :) I love how they gave a touch of Jim Carrey as a Lawyer a year before. :)

This movie is so underrated. It’s a gem.
This movie is just an hr and a half of Jim Carrey f*cking with Matthew Brodrick 😂😂😂😂 and it's glorious.
Cable Guy was so god damn funny
Matthew Broderick is an underrated actor. I feel he doesn't get much attention nowadays. Since the 2010s onward, Broderick's attention has kinda deteriorated slowly. But i have faith that he'll return to acting in noteworthy and mentionable works that everyone will talk about.
wow, he's really Larry the cable guy
Carrey is INSANE 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
1:16 LMAO!!!! XD
Imagine Joker taunts Batman like this😂😂
I always do the “oohhh billllllly” and no one gets it 😂now I can send them this
Hey Bernie how's that sports package? All right!
also a grand scene! XD
That is exactly right. I can be your best friend or your worst enemy. That line is great
This has to be the darkest comedy ever made and one of the greatest.
This concludes our broadcast day. *Click* 2:36 haha
"I'll put the SYSTEM ON trial!"
This is the funniest scene from a film ever 🤣 😂 😆
the majority of critics missed the boat on this one... they were expecting the same jim carrey as in previous films, yet this is the film that i keep going back to and enjoy time and time again. PLUS you get Jack Black!
am i the only one around here that thinks the cable guy is just a grown up version of eric cartman?
Yep.
The sad part is that it's true. Cartman would totally do this to Kyle.
More like a grown up version of his former character from 'in living color' the secret agent
No cap
"Thith concludeth our broadcath day" is a phrase I still use regularly
I still say "...oOHHH BILLYYY..." all the time!!! 😂😂
I'm watching this after taking a dab and I'm on the floor laughing my ass off 😂😂

The scary thing is I’ve heard of real situations like this where people pretend to be someone’s buddy and then systematically ruin their lives on purpose.
0:59 - is probably the funniest part of this movie to me. I lol every time.
Been a fan of this movie for years. It completely jump started my sense of humor as a child 😂. So underrated
Hey Bernie how's that Sports package, lmao that's is my all-time favorite line
For those who dont know... this scene is based off a great movie called Midnight Express
This scene is funny I remember this movie a long time ago
+Shawny Samuels steven brought it on himself if he would've never said that he cant be his friend that wouldn't had happen to him he brought it on himself
justin fleming Really? Chip gave Steven STOLEN goods and LET him unknowingly sleep with a hooker that Chip PAID to sleep with him! Steven really liked Heather and Chip (in)conveniently told him ,"Heather who you liked so much was a Hooker that I paid to sleep with you! don't worry, she's CLEAN!" He also gave Robin free cable and LIED and said that Steven paid him to do it! Chip went way too far!
One Of The BEST MOVIES EVER X
Midnight Express (1978)
the movie was praise but nowadays is quite forget... but it's a masterpiece... I'm talking about Midnight Express 1978.
Daniel Grimes can tell me the plot of midnight express?
Without spoilers
Phreaker1997 was about a American guy who was caught for smuggling drugs out of The boarder...the movie is about the life in prison, redemption, anger to the corruption system and believe me....there's much more, great performance, Direction, Ost, script etc...
Sorry i forgot mention that the movie take place in turkey
Whoa, Jim Carrey used to be really good.

@@lazyatthedisco he was a kid dude.
As a kid I laughed. As an adult, I'm amazed at the magnetic strangeness Jim Carrey emits. It's almost hard to watch. I don't think what he's doing, and what the rest of the film intends or offers, are on the same level at all.
Good observation…. I remember watching Jim Carrey, as the token White Guy, on a TV show, In Living Color. I remember his ‘Fire Marshall Bill’ character. I laughed but was also always scared he’d set himself on fire any second! ILC only ran for a couple seasons, I think. I remember thinking that Carrey seemed to have no boundaries, and also was extremely funny in a Twilight Zone sort of way!
True. I think the magnetic strangeness has to do with his brilliant talent at physical comedy and charisma.
I agree completely. He is only a completely different level.
“A writ of hebeas corpus, I’ll put the system on trial!!!”
Jim should of been awarded for every movie he ever made
