    The best part of this scene is that even though he’s psycho he is a good sport. Celebrating when Steven wins. He just wants to have a good time with a friend

    This movie was ahead of its time and ppl criticized it unfairly and I get it. Back in the 90s when u saw Jim Carreys name on a movie u are expecting an Ace Ventura or Lloyd Christmas kind of character but instead get a dark comedy about a lonely stalkerish cable guy. This is a great movie.

    This movie is gold. Jim Carrey‘s acting plus Ben Stiller’s directing was such an amazing combination. Matthew Broderick also did a great job as well. As everyone else says, highly underrated movie.

    Someone help, what is the name of those pendulum looking weapons

    • @BadGallery
      @BadGallery Рік тому

      I've seen them in art, but only ever can find them in reference to startrek. Dexters lab also has a reference to the episode, and they call them Turpoles. But that's the only instance I can find of a name.

      Any search on turpoles leads no where.

      I found the Wikipedia page for weapons in star trek (funny that such a page exists) which says:
      "A lirpa is a Vulcan weapon consisting of a wooden staff a little over a meter in length, with a semicircular blade at one end and a metal bludgeon on the other. The overall length of the weapon appears to be approximately 48 inches. It is similar to the monk's spade and the pugil stick."
      I think if they were based explicitly on a real-world weapon, that would have been recognised. Several 'alien' looking melee weapons were designed for star trek and later were referenced by other media. I don't think there's any historical object closer than a monk's spade on one end and a pugil stick on the other. And of course their name in star trek is Lirpa.

      @EDoyl You have no idea how long I have been looking for this answer. Never would have thought to look for a startrek weapon wiki. Thankyou!
