Looks good. Use either 1/2" foam only on the edge of the 2x4 or Camper weather seal strip on the edge of the 2x4. It comes in various widths and usually has adhesive on one side.
Thanks! And thanks for watching. Ok, perfect. That helps. Thank you! Will the adhesive stick well to the wood? Maybe a link to what exact weather stripping you prefer?
@@PriceTagAquariums sorry about being late on this. It is under truck cap seal tape. Saw something else that would work as well. Adhesive Rubber Strips Neoprene Rubber Sheets, Rolls & Strips with Adhesive Backing Rubber Pads Self Stick Seal Rubber Gasket Tape Adhesive Back for Matting Padding - 1" Wide x 1/8" Thick x 20' Long. I have also used yoga mats cut into strips. If using the 1/2" foam, just use hot melt glue. Hope this helps.
@danrude5418 No worries, I ended up finding that truck cap seal tape at lowes. Since I have two builds, I could try the truck cap tape on one and rubber strips/sheets on the other. Never thought about yoga mats! Thanks for the help! Much appreciated!
Ok, yeah, I thought that may not be a bad idea, too. Thanks for watching and the suggestion. @dexterbryant7255 The stand is set up to where the horizontal 2x4's going all the way across are supported by all the vertical 2x4's. 20G long tanks are designed without a support brace in the middle of the tank, so therefor, if I were to put a middle brace in, I'd have to raise the mid 2x4 brace up slightly and have it sit directly in middle of the glass itself. I'd have to figure out a way to make that safe for the bottom glass, maybe adding some of the camper weather seal on the middle 2x4? This may not be ideal though due to the original tank design.
You're welcome. Hope this video helps you out in your build. Tbh, I personally really like this build because all the weight is distributed evenly between the vertical 2x4s and not stressing on the horizontal pieces. That's why I did my 10g rack the same way! I also used camper seal around all the framework for the tanks to sit on for much better security!
you should of left the ends of the long boards (68"could of cut them to 66 1/2) only half way on the dato cut so you could of linked another stand to it instead of having to now make a whole another stand losing another 2 inches of space. because lets face it you'll be building another stand in the future as we all do eventually XD. and also if you're using foam under the tank be sure to leave the bottom glass free since foam compresses you don't want it pressing on the bottom pane.
I ended up putting camper weather seal foam strips, and it worked really well. This was my very first build, followed by my 10g rack, so I was pretty happy with how it turned out. Thanks for watching and the suggestions. 👍 Appreciate it!
Nice build!

Thanks for the video. About to make a triple 40 breeder with this design. Anything you would do differently if you were to do it again?

Yeah it's been solid for me. No issues

@@PriceTagAquariumsyour first build is 1000% better than my monstrosities i created in my early days good work!
Well thank you! Lol
Youre gonna break your glass
How so?
Why? 🤷🏼♂️
Why not cut out all the wood? Is there a reason?
What do you mean?
