Water hose convert to pump hose for ease and no mess out back door
I use coarse sponge pre filters on my hob's and canister. No media in them, just use them for aireation and don't want fry getting sucked up. Thanks for the must have great tip!
Yeah I do the same with my canister filters as well. It really makes them last a lot longer in between maintenance. You're welcome! Thanks for watching 👍
You just killed all your beneficial bacteria rinsing it off in the sink. Drain some tank water an rinse it while the hose in the bucket your draining it into.
My tank is well established and has been running for a long time with a very deep substrate. Running media through tap water will kill off some beneficial bacteria, but not all. Watch Jason from Prime Time Aquatics. He's a marine biologist and explains this in great detail.
I've watched a few vids regarding this filter... And for the most part (out of the box) it seems like everyone likes it... I've been looking for a review (time served) which gives a good balanced opinion... Your views seem to fit the unboxing reviews... I also agree with the height problems that other's have, but it seems that it will work really well once you have the media of your choice added... Nice vid, simple to understand, and very practical to boot! Look forward to the extensive review of this filter with your own media and a longer time of use, Keep up he good work, as it is needed.
Thank you for watching and for your detailed input. I can definitely see both sides of this filter. It seems I get a lot of great feedback when follow-up videos are made. Thanks for the kind words. Will definitely do a part 3 and look forward to the responses from that.
dont rince your bio filters with tap water your just killing your bactiria, always rince with tank water

Cant comment on your shorts. Hoho to you, got to get you a bigger belly for santa
That sucks.. yeah, Santa is watching his saturated fats, lol
@ better do it nobody is going to do it for you
@@josepolanco1228 Santa ate the reindeer's carrots instead 🤣
@ 😂👍
She looks happy eating her food 😊
Yeah, it's really neat to watch. 😀
Man. The media they put in hob filters melt so fast vs 25 ppi sponge filters and polishing pads
What do you mean by melt? Maybe used up?
I mean they need to be cleaned too much too often 😆
Oh ok lol. Yeah, it kinda depends on what's kept in them, I guess. It's nice to have the option in this one to do whatever. I do love my sponge filters, though. Easy maintenance. It's what a majority of my fishroom is made up of. Very cost effective. 👍
Thank you for the update 😊.
You're welcome
I have almost always used some type of canister. Recently purchased 3 hygger hob, not this model with the high tower. I am using my own media and sponges. Dont like the cartridge. Over all they do a nice jobs And dont have to look at the sponge filters 😅
Yeah, my #1 filter is still canister, but this hob I've really grown to like, despite its tall tower. I'll be putting my own media in as well soon. Thanks Jose 👍
So I can tell you I'm not a fan of this model filter from Hygger. I just don't like the design as its way to tall for my liking. I may work well but it really don't need a tower on the back of my aquariums. Glad its working out good for you. And absolutely I would modify the media to suit my preferences instead of the cartridges
Thanks for your input. To each their own. It's quite different, yes, but it's so nice to have the motor inside the tank. I feel the tallness would be a caveat for most. Thanks for watching!
@@PriceTagAquariums lol that's why I have 3 title series hob because the motors in the water
@razinfishes1918 The Tidals are a nice set of filters.
Very nice p tag thanks for the follow up!
You're welcome! 👍
I use I heat gum to soften the plastic them I slide it on
Yep, I do the same with air line and water tubing.
I like this , it is a pain to cut those things. The side pieces maybe in case you have a heater , power head or something else mounted on the side panel , for cable exit maybe🤷🏼♂️
Yeah it always was a pain. I'm really glad they did this! Oh yeah, didn't think about that for the side pieces. Could be.. 🤔
Enjoyed the tour Joe!! Loved watching the variety and the wall tanks put u on another level!!🔥🔥🔥🔥Video
Thanks, Mike! I appreciate it 👍 Yeah I love my in wall setup
Thanks for the thorough demonstration
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the information 😊
You're welcome Henry
Oh i hate there new setup i talked about it on alive it's terrible. Aqueons much better. They r easy to install sit like crap on the tanks i got 2 of them
I was very surprised when I opened the box, lol. It suited me well, but yeah. I've had quite a mixture of tops for aquariums, and this worked the best for me so far. 👍 Thanks for watching Jesse.
I was not impressed with their hinges. Mine disintegrated in two years. Cheaply made
I'm sorry to hear that. I've had mine for 2+ years, and they're working for me so far.
That's awesome. After my last go around with cutting a backstrip manually, then struggling even with a dremel tool to get exactly what I wanted, it would be nice to have a ready to go solution.
Yeah, this was a surprise to me. It's nice to have things already precisely precut to suit ones needs. 👍 I've had my fair share of adjusting the back for mine.
Man it's about time they made an easy back strip to install. I Wonder if they will sell just the back plastic strip as a replacement strip
That's what I thought, too. Yes, that would be great!
Black widow
Replay!
Thanks Branton 👍
Beautiful!!! 💛🧡
Thanks! 😃 👍
great to see more of the fishroom, plus a surprise guest Jim on camera!
Yeah, i thought it would be a nice change of pace. Yep, I'm glad it worked out. 👍
Thats why i want a bigger fish room 😅😂
We can still dream, can't we? 😴 😃 🐠
I agree with the sand, I find it to be a more clean substrate. Nice severums as well
So much easier and clean. Thanks! Appreciate you watching 🙏
Loving the sand makeover!
Me too! Thanks for watching 👍
Great video Joe 👍👍👍
Thanks Curtis 👍
Yes Joe I got rid of river rock and gravel many years ago and moved over to sand its just a much better substrate and much easier to maintain. I just setup a 150 gallon summer stock tank and used for the first time Black Diamond blasting sand. 12 dollars for 50lb bag. And oh man do I love that sand. But I did learn there are different kind. I got the Fine Slag version as it is black. But there was another version that wasn't slag I forgot what it was but it was brown and i didn't want brown. Any how great video
Yes, it truly is a better substrate all around. I can only seeing using river rock as maybe a cap on top of the sand. Other than that, no thanks lol. Yeah I heard people also using black diamond blasting sand. Did you have to rinse it some before putting into the aquarium? I hear great things about it. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Catching the fish is always the hard part 😅
More challenging than you think! (2 Nets 🤫 )
🤣. I do the same, and sometimes 3 nets
Hey buddy good luck with the severums and the pleco. They look amazing when there grown. It was a pleasure meeting you and I hope we can get together again soon
Thanks! 🤞 I hope you make lots of babies with the females! 🤣 We will def get something together soon 👍
Thanks joe for this video. Two of my larger tanks still have gravel, love the two sanded one, so much less maintanance with sand. Likely will be converting others.
You're welcome, Jose. Thanks for watching 👍 Yes, I agree. Sand is way easier.
@ only thing i have hesitation is with all the rooted plants in the discus tank. Unless i just remove some of the gravel around it and not disturb it and cap with sand 🤷🏼♂️. The tiger lotus look so amazing. Would hate to disturb that. You and Jim live sort of close to each other?
@josepolanco1228 Yeah, maybe just sand cap it. The tiger lotus does look amazing! Yeah, we live about an hour away 👍
@@PriceTagAquariums cool you guys live close. Most are far from me
Really enjoyed this video Joe! That sand has saved me so much money over the years 💪🏻
Thanks, Branton. Yeah, I don't see myself getting the expensive stuff anymore. Especially for bigger tanks 💸 💸
Beautiful colors!
Thanks! They really are.
Enjoying the replay 👍
Thanks Steve 🙏 It was a good one!
The man the myth the legend uncle Ben great stream awesome guest replay crew 🤙
Thanks for watching! It was a great stream.
@@PriceTagAquariumsI bet wish I was able to catch it live being in Hawaii definitely is a challenge to catch most lives live but I try lol

It's the thought that counts 👍
Great stream enjoy watching both of you and can relate to most of what you have both experienced
Thank you! Appreciate it
Amazing blue 👍
Thanks Jose!
If people knew how important is any 3d background for the fish, to resemble their natural habitat, everyone would have one. I also ordered an Amazonia style background for my tank. The more realistic the environment is, the better for the fish. They will live longer because the stress will be minimized throughout their entire life time. Thanks for the video.
I couldn't agree more. Thanks for the nice comments and insight. I really appreciate it 🙏
Really nice dimensions for a smaller tank. Personally I’d like to have all my electronics separate to be able to replace them easily but this is a really great option for a classroom or a kids bedroom where it’s just super simple and everything just works. I’m seeing more and more filters being built into lids. Thanks for the video Joe
Yeah, I like everything separated as well, but for a simple classroom set-up, it's a neat little contraption. This is a first for me. You're welcome for the video! Thanks for watching 👍
@@PriceTagAquariums You did a great job Joe
Sweet fish !
Thanks Branton 👍
They look amazing 😍. You have so many beautiful fish 😊
Thanks Henry. I try!
Beautiful aquarium! 😍 Just a tip, it’s better to glue the anubias to the the rock because planting the rhizomes in the substrate can kill the plant.
Thanks, Talisa. I appreciate it. Yeah, I thought about that.. What kind of glue? I've also heard of stringing them temporarily. Off cam, I picked up the rock and slid the rhizomes under the rock. Would that help give it something to attach to?
I use aquarium glue and it works well! I would glue it to the side of the rock so that the rhizomes can still have light and not get suffocated under the rock.
@TalisaAquarist OK Thanks Talisa
They look amazing 😮, the blue one is gorgeous 😍. I am jealous 😅
Thanks Henry!
Thanks for sharing
You're welcome. Thanks for watching
