@@YoureMrLebowski I think better that than people talking over it and missing stuff. Especially if it's something funny. There's plenty of videos I've seen where the person misses jokes or doesn't know what's happening because they keep talking over it rather than pausing it to say something. I had suggested a yt video for someone to react to and they kept missing the funny parts because they kept talking over it.
The thing people always seem to miss in this movie is that, while different from the book, the darkseekers (the zombies) in the movie are not mindless. They've certainly regressed considerably from modern humans, but they still have social hierarchies, territorial behaviors, interpersonal relationships, and the ability to understand and use tools. They understood how the trap Will Smith used on them actually worked, and managed to rebuild it using the tools and parts he left behind. They also understood enough about Will's behavior and mental state to know "Fred" would work well as bait for the trap. The whole reason they start attacking Will is because he snatched the alpha's mate, or possibly child, and the alpha wants them back. The part with "Fred" being in that random spot really shows that Will is teetering on the edge of insanity from sheer isolation and lack of human contact, yet there's enough in him to realize that something's wrong and that Fred couldn't possibly show up out there without being moved there...Will knows he didn't move Fred, and to the best of his knowledge, he's the last person alive in the world (he doesn't count the darkseekers because he thinks they're mindless, he says as much in his little vlogs...clearly sociology and anthropology are not areas that he's studied much). So that scene is him starting to question if he's completely lost it or not, which lowers his guard and lets him walk right into what should've been an obvious trap for him. Pretty genius writing, really.
i also sense slight desperate hope in will's scream in "you better tell me you're real now fred". as if he finally might have someone to interact with even though he still knows it's a crazy idea, he might have really hoped the mannequin was alive. powerful stuff.
In the motion comics that were added to the physical copies of the movie, the "leader" zombie and the zombie that gets captured were in a relationship (boyfriend & girlfriend) before the infection started.
I wonder if he had it together enough to know that Fred couldn't move there himself, or if he was unhinged enough to think that Fred moving there was a betrayal of their 'friendship'.
If you go back and watch when Frank is in public when the camera first zooms on it, it moves its head to look at him. I've heard this was too represent how he had officially lost his sanity due to the seclusion. Also I've seen this movie MANY times but am only now realizing how the infected basically evolved and learned Will's trap even what to use as bait, as well as the mechanics for the trap itself.
I cannot even begin to tell you how frightened I was when I was in editing and I saw Frank's head turn toward me in the footage 😵💫 could not sleep that night
@@QueenTofu Just 1 wrong strand of DNA from an out side source and it gets in a in a lab sample and missed.... Stage 1 ELE can happen... could it be contained fast enough ?? Yeah, I actually loved the alternate ending a lot more. It sent a really nice message and taught a valuable lesson. But the test audiences ruined that, because they couldn't bare thinking of something as that being possible. Their reaction were pretty much like, "They...they still have humanity? NO! NO NO NO! INFECTED MUST BE SEEN AS SENSELESS MONSTERS! DO IT OVER! DON'T MAKE HUMANITY LOOK FLAWED! WAAAAAAH!!!!"
It was closer to the book ending, but realistically the film is pretty different from the book. I would have loved to have seen a book accurate version of this film.
The "zombies" set up that trap on Will Smith, they are indeed getting smart. Also showing that they understand what emotions are, because they knew that mannequin would affect Will so much
I have a hard time believing they have the intelligence to set that trap up but somehow can't recognize that the sun is burning them and all they have to do is just wear some extra layers... I always just assumed Will's character was having some form of psychotic break.
In the alternate ending(which is more faithful to the novel), it turns out the leader just wanted to rescue his mate, who was captured by Neville. Realizing that the darkseekers still have humanity in them and feel love and compassion, Neville feels terrible for experimenting on and killing dozens of them for a cure, he realizes that he is, and always was, the true monster in this new world. The leader reluctantly spares his life in gratitude and leaves with his mate and pack.
You always make it an entertaining ride, Tofu, and I really appreciate how you can bring a little light and humor to even such an otherwise really somber movie.
@@Rorschach7012 the alternate ending just doesn't match the rest of the movie for me. It feels more like a "what if" type of ending and not a canon one that fits with the story. Not only did the spend the whole movie pushing Robert into insanity by making him lose everything and causing him to give up on trying to "fix" things, but they also kept making it clear that the creatures were a lost cause. So him suddenly deciding to be empathetic towards them and then the creatures choosing not to rip him to shreds just comes out of nowhere and feels very anticlimactic. The ending where he kills himself and all the creatures just fit more with the story they've been telling all this time.
@@knightfallprotocol The one where he lives is the literal canon. If you don't count the book-accurate ending canon, don't know what makes you think anything else is.
@@SStupendous you don't label something as "alternate" when it's supposed to be the real one. And even if it is the canon, it doesn't nullify my point at all. I simply like the ending where he kills himself more.
@@knightfallprotocol Huh? The film ends the way it did. It wasn't 'supposed to' anything. The ALTERNATE ending is the one alternative to the others, regardless of if that is how it was 'meant' to end. Why do you take offense to it? It's LITERALLY the alternate ending. You label something definitively alternative _definitively alternate_ not because someone cares what triggers you, but because that is what it is. I was just saying, the other one is the one corect to the book, but it seems like you just said that. Won't repeat what you said to me and insult you.
When I was growing up, I had a dog named Samantha, and we had to put her down because she bit a kid who bullied me. Once in retaliation because he was throwing acorns at her, and it was only a nip-the second time she was protecting me and it drew blood. This movie came out one year after I said goodbye to Samantha. I was still wracked with guilt because I couldn't be there when they administered her final shot, so this movie... Really fucked me up. Still has a special place in my heart though.
Current ending: The “zombies” are just mindless killers and is a typical zombie plot “Original” Alternate ending: “Zombies” had territorial behaviour indicating intelligence therefore his trials with the “zombies” were with live subjects and was actually hunting sentient human beings and was actually just hunted down by intelligent being seeking revenge. Against their boogeyman, against their legend.
I'm not sure quotes around original or the world alternate really do justice to the fact that that's how the book ends lol. This is a good movie for a bog standard high budget zombie thriller, but Matheson's book actually had something fascinating to say and tease your imagination with in the most "Twilight Zone" of ways.
Test audiences hated the ending where the main vampire walks away with the test subject, who is his girlfriend and has a butterfly tattoo, after Neville removes the tubes when he realizes he was the the monster they feared. Because of course they hate the smarter ending. You can find the original ending on the DVD and on UA-cam. It's just a lot better.
@@MrBazBake That filmed version also entirely fails to do the book justice because it still loses the thing that gives the title its actual intended meaning
Also, when he goes into the dark building chasing Sam, the terror that he is acting is Oscar worthy. Seriously. That “hold your breath and barely breathe” thing you did as a kid hiding from the monsters under your sheets…just great acting. He played terrified perfectly. Another example of acting fear amazingly well was in “hunger games” with Jennifer Lawrence. I remember telling my daughter when we watched hunger games, that just before she goes into the elevator to the hunger games itself while talking to Lenny Kravitz’s character, it was in line with that terror. Not overacted. But just…palpable
As always, these reaction videos are life-giving. I genuinely appreciate your content and legitimately can't wait for the next one! (Nerd time) As it's already been stated, this is based off of a fantastic book of the same name from 1954. The plot is somewhat similar... SPOILERS for a book from 1954... A virus breaks out that takes over almost all of the human race, converting them to what could be considered "vampires". Robert Neville similarly looks for a cure, but also spends his days going out and murdering them while they sleep. Eventually, it's discovered that there are two "types" of vampire; one feral, and one more civilized. Neville is eventually captured by the civil group of vampires and is set to be put to death for his crimes. From the book: "To them he was some terrible scourge they had never seen... an invisible specter who had left for evidence of his existence the bloodless bodies of their loved ones. And he understood what they felt and did not hate them... Robert Neville looked out over the new people of the earth. He knew he did not belong to them; he knew that, like the vampires, he was anathema and black terror to be destroyed.... A new terror born in death, a new superstition entering the unassailable fortress of forever. "I am legend."
What a movie, what a reaction. Really glad this one didn't give you as much trouble as American Psycho. Loved it overall, but I think I spent most of this with my stomach in knots, knowing what was coming. I'm the same exact way when it comes to pets in media. And y'know, I was still mopping up some tears when you dropped that "Will"ingly in there, you fucking dork. Well played. lol Can't wait for whatever's next! Also: I have never seen somebody make a sponsored segment so *them* before. HelloFresh should put you on the payroll. Was I actually enjoying...watching an ad? That should be illegal. :P

Me and my parents love this flim, and it feels so sad to lose a family and a pet that you really cared about, and Sam's death is one of the most saddest deaths of all time in movie history, and the moment she turned, I start crying, rest in peace Sam. thank you Tofu, you're the best
So interestingly this movie is actually about vampires not zombies. The original book 'I Am Legend' written in Richard Matheson was more open with identifying the monsters as such but in this movie there are only subtle hints; Will Smith uses blood to lure the female vampire from the lair; the monsters are effected by sunlight and artificial uv light in the lab; And in the climax a monster bights Will Smith in the neck. With this context you also realize that what Will Smith pours on his steps isn't just random fluid but actually garlic water.
my favorite scene of this movie is definitely when he gets caught in the trap, at first i thought he’d completely lost it. after much thought it suddenly hits me that there’s more to these “mindless” bloodthirsty creatures. love this movie
I think the alternate ending is much better. It's more depressing for sure, but I think it fits the tone a lot better than what we actually got. Other than that, great movie.
@@MrBazBake dude we are trying to be vague about the ending because not many have seen this film nor have many seen the alternate ending. Why are you giving out spoilers?

The other movies you were referring to were The Pursuit of Happiness and After Earth both movies also starred his actual son, Jaden Smith. In the movie you just watched his daughter Marley is played by his actual daughter, Willow Smith.
The movies you're talking about in the end were Pursuit of Happyness and After Earth I think. Pursuit of Happyness is based on a true story and is actually a good movie, highly recommend.
Seeing our Queen in the kitchen cooking for Mr Morgan is something I never knew I needed 🥺 Your editing is, as always, superb. I love your thoughtful observations and your ability to bring your special moments of joy and happiness to this film. Thank you for all that you do 💜
yeah that scene when the mannequin moves and he starts asking if it's real and then realized the zombies must have moved it so he starts looking up at the buildings knowing they're watching him is so dope
I've watched this movie more than 20 times. And I love noticing the details in this movie so much! Especially at the height of the pandemic, when chaos reigned. These posters are on the street! By the way, I want to highlight the moment when Neville opens the closet, and they show us a poster with a warning - "infected dogs can go out at dusk." This is just crazy!
One of the best movies to watch in regards of isolation and hopelessness. I remember watching this movie earlier in my life when I was in a very dark place and this movie kept thinking about potentially running into another group just like me, the way Will Smith's character always did(alongside finding the cure- in my case: cure to loneliness) however, it wasnt until I began to think about myself less and more so about others that the cure presented itself in the form of one of my first friends. It may have been awkward initially but eventually she became a beacon that led me to recognizing that happiness doesnt have to be found in a particular place but in yourself as well. Great job being able to address his existential crisis whilst accurately predicting how the movie turned out. Hopefully you enjoyed the movie Victoria :)
To explain a couple of things with this movie. Robert Neville was a scientist who would often go into war zones for specific situations that would also require training from the military, so he was a scientist soldier. This explains why he’s able to fortify his house, have security measures, know what food to have that can last years, grow his own crops, know how to have running water (off the grid type), and have a laboratory set up in his basement (which was more than likely already set up before the virus struck). Another thing I noticed is that Neville has said that New York is ground zero, which means that must be where the virus started and began to spread. To understand the virus better, he would want to be where it began because those infected in the early stages would be there as well. In the movie, Neville is not the only human immune to the virus. In the book, he was the only one due to being exposed to the virus (highly implied to be nature-made, not man-made like in the movie) during one of his trips overseas in the very early stages that allowed for his immune system to fight it
I love you Tori. You're such a beautiful and empathetic soul. The world needs you, and people like you, now more than ever. You're a strong one. Don't ever forget that okay.
Funnily enough, the I Am Legend and I, Robot movies got me interested in reading the books for both of them and the books are now 2 of my favorites. Will Smith in movies beginning with I are good for getting young people to read, apparently.
Glad you're doing commentaries again! I remember loving your GoT and movie reactions, it's nice to see you bring them back. I Am Legend is a pretty good movie but the alternate ending is a better ending imo. And thanks to this movie we got "Batman V Superman" because of one of the billboards in the beginning of the film..at least I contribute this movie for BvS. I didn't expect to cry during this reaction but here I am 😂 Sam dying then Neville saying "please say hello" just added to the hurt..
I think the biggest misinterpretation from this movie was that large audiences couldn’t get around the fact that they are suffering from vampirism not a zombie virus per say. They aren’t “Dead walking again” they are humans evolved into something different. Still alive- still sentient, still there. Just not the same as they once were.
I am Legend is one of my favorite books. Of the movie adaptations, The Last Man on Earth (1964) with Vincent Price is the closest to the source, and my personal favorite of the adaptations. The Omega Man (1971) with Charleton Heston is the least accurate, but most action oriented. The Will Smith version is good, one of his best performances in my opinion, but I definitely prefer the alternate ending to the theatrical one.
There is actually 2 endings to this movie one where he dies and one where he gives the girl zombie back and they leave them alone as the zombies only wanted the girl back. He then goes with them to the colony.
fun fact: in the time square shot, when will is hunting deer at the beginning, theres a superman/batman logo. and its the very first easter egg wb dropped about making a superman/batman movie
As someone who is from New York City, I can safely say that during the early days of the pandemic, I felt like I was living in the world of I am Legend.
The Lord works in many mysterious ways, the point of this movie was that in times that seem most dark, if you listen for the words of God, you can find hope and beauty, it goes through how Will Smiths Character lost his faith in God, and how the chain of events after he captures the girl zombie are part of Gods Plan, and at the end we get Will Smiths Character regaining his Faith
The fact that the upcoming sequel is going to be following the alternate version of this movie that wasn't released in theatres, is extremely telling as to how the creator of the movie felt about what the studio forced upon his decision to change this ending... that's not even including the 30+ minutes of removed footage which actually had us spend time with the woman and child throughout the city doing various things which helped to build their characters. I hate when studios think they know better and then end up getting shown what for.
When the dog died while I was watching the movie I Was Shook, Hurt, Pained, Distraught, Broken, Saddened, Crying...That doggy was so cute and how she went out was so painful to watch, A little lullaby before the good dog died......
The novelization makes much more sense of out the title of the movie. In the book. That female "zombie" which are vampires in the book. Actually talks and has dialogue with our will Smith character. He treats her like an experiment until he reluctantly let's her go. Then she betrayed that trust and turns him into the rest of the vamps. And when they are all around to watch him be executed the vamps. He realizes. Out of a world of monsters these vampire. That we used to fear. He became the legend. He was the vampires Boogeyman.
This is one of my favorite movies.I have watched this reaction multiple times cuz it's just that good, you kicked ass girl. So damn gorgeous, and there's something about your energy and the way you carry and express yourself that makes you even more lovely. Having a heart ❤️ of gold doesn't hurt either, with the sweetest and cutest giggles ever, kudos to you Queen T, love your channel and reactions.
For Will Smith films that are on the lighter side, I recommend the first three of the sci-fi action/comedy franchise Men in Black: Men in Black (1997) , Men in Black II (2002) , and Men in Black 3 (2012).
I was really scared of those "zombies" when I was young and couldn't sleep at night. And when I grew up I loved them, the whole concept of being safe during the day, having to barricade yourself as soon as the night starts and for once the "zombies" weren't slow/boring.
The point of zombies is not to make "a" monster. The point is that the world changed faster than you could adapt to it, and now you find yourself the hunted minority. And more than that, zombies are death and loss of self. Inescapable and inevitable, because while you can "just walk around" _those_ zombies, there's nowhere left to go. There's a million more everywhere you might run, and they all have the same goal. _Something will_ get to you eventually. And the true horror is that you can become the hunted minority in _our_ world, for reasons that will never make sense to you. The horror in zombies is that they're us as a society.
The directors cut has an alternate ending where Wills character sees the "vampire zombies" as their own species and lets the leader take his SO vampire zombie back and Wills character survives. IMO its a much better ending that the director wanted to have but was basically denied because it was thought that it wouldnt make as much money.
I love that you’re making videos again, and I love that you’re doing movie reactions/commentaries again. You’re the best, Tofu! Also, the alternate ending is WAY better. You should check it out
1.The part that gave me real respect for Will Smith is the scene where he's talking to the mannequin right after having to kill his best/only friend and says, "please talk to me".😭 THAT'S acting my friends.😎 2. This film is mostly a remake of "The Omega Man" staring Charlton Heston. 3. The animals escaped from the Manhattan zoo. 4. He wanted to catch/kill the dear for food. 5. I absolutely fell in love/LUST with Alice Braga after I saw this movie. 😍 6. There's another ending where everyone lives. I haven't see it though. 7. I didn't read the book but there's speculation that Nevelle was the real villain since he was hunting them. 8. If you want a serious cry 100% you MUST watch/share "The Green Mile
Some of the movies I enjoy best of Will Smith are "Hitch" and "Hancock". The former might not sit well with your generation because it is about traditional courtship, but if you take that premise it is a very entertaining one. The depressing one your parents took you to the theater, curiously is titled "The pursue of happiness".
I don’t think you picked up on the fact that Robert was shooting the windows because the mannequins had been moved 😳 that part freaked me out as a kid man..
Common misconception is that people believe they are zombies. They're not zombies, if anything they are more vampiric.. They are attracted to blood. They are sensitive to sunlight and have increased strength/ speed. They are also smart enough to be territorial and to hunt in packs. Even to make the exact trap just how Will's character did to catch the lady vamp. Although they are vampires it did inspire the zombie apocalyptic genre.
Your movie commentaries are the most entertaining thing ever. Glad to see you like to record them too. And i would really love to see your reaction on “Good Will Hunting”, if you are intersted, its a really great movie. Much love from Brazil 🇧🇷

the mannequins are and indication of what Robert’s mental state is, so he starts seeing stuff like Fred going outside making him question if he is actual a real person this whole time
I think a few people in the comments have brought it up already but I can’t stress enough how much more interesting the alternate ending to the movie is, really recontextualizes the “I am legend” title for the movie and is the original ending the source material has for it
I've edited a few reactions and I feel your pain/appreciate putting the editing hours in the description, haha. The real question is how many attempts did it take to get past the cursed bots, or maybe you're savvier than me and that wasn't an issue...Having the audio wane as the video pauses and having it start before the video un-pauses is a nice detail
Awww I am so flattered to meet another editor hello! I have a myriad of tricks to help combat the copyright blocks but one of the most effective (and time consuming) is basically re editing movie scenes and cutting out superfluous footage and splicing moments together! If one were to watch this video while playing the movie, there are very few scenes that havent been cut up or doctored in some way! :)
@@QueenTofu Oh yeah, you're totally right, I learned that the hard way. The first time I edited a reaction I thought "just pulling the video off screen will do it, surely" took me 12 attempts for it to not get blocked haha. My favorite "trick" is giving the videos inconspicuous titles when uploading like: "Travel day 2" or "building a desk!" haha, I swear it works! It's pure copium but it's my rabbits foot I guess
I've done some video editing but not for copyrighted material. I do watch a lot of reactions and was wondering if there is a way to use a grainy filter and modify the audio by adding a low volume white noise to avoid copyright and allow for more movie to be viewed with less cuts.
So, they trap that Neville was caught in was the same as the one he used to capture the zombie, good catch on that. BUT, it was set up by the Zombie leader guy (the one they always show) because he took his girlfriend/wife/whatever. So it was the zombies that moved Fred to that spot, they knew Neville would be brought in by it.
I just found your channel and I love your commentary! 😭😂 Also the flashlight thing he does in the building while looking for Sam is just a DIY way of illuminating a dark area quickly and then back off so as not to give away your position during a “tactical” situation. Not so much as to lure the dark seekers out but since it looks like they were “sleeping” they wouldn’t have noticed him flashing the light on and off. Nowadays there are pressure pads for lights and lasers because doing it with your hand still leaves you partially illuminated when night vision exists. You should definitely watch and react to the animated comics that were added to the extras on dvd, they’re very cool and a bit sad too but definitely worth it!
I've been watching more and more movie reactions recently so would definitely love to see more from you. You're always interesting and entertaining with your content 👍
This movie has an alternate ending that I like way better because I feel like it actually makes sense. It turns out the zombie dude was coming after Will because the zombie lady he took was his wife and he wanted her back. Will gives her back and the zombies leave. Will then goes with them to find the settlement.
Richard Matheson wrote the story this movie is based on, though the movie takes many liberties. In the book, the zombies are vampires (hence the allergy to sunlight), and it approaches the notion of vampirism in a rather deconstructive way. Neville is not a military scientist, but he does go about analyzing and determining grounded explanations for the vampires' weaknesses. In that way, the story is rather goundbreaking for trying to apply realism to the vampire myth. The book's end is also vastly different. Neville is captured by humans whom have survived being infected by the vampire virus and have become physically evolved by it, forming their own society and becoming the dominant species on the planet. After stalking and killing the vampires during the day as they slept, Neville had become a thing of myth and legend, feared by the new vampire society. It presents the juxtaposition that the vampires are now the dominant society that fears humans when it used to be the opposite. It also presents the notion that the monsters and outliers of society are usually determined by those in control. Ultimately, Neville is told he will be given a public execution, but is given the option of privately committing suicide. He opts for suicide to protect the legend he had created for himself, and his last words before he dies is "I am legend", hence the title.
A lot of people do call these creatures zombies but I'm pretty sure they're actually called vampires in a lot of the descriptions of the movie, that's why they're so smart like when they copied his wire trap to use against him
Everyone keeps calling them zombies, but these creatures are more akin to vampire than zombies. The book made that a little more obvious than the movie did.

Great reaction to a great film and the most brilliant part for me about the movie is Will Smiths portrayal of loneliness and isolation, the way he talks to Sam how he rewatches old taped TV shows and talks to the store mannequins all shows he is lost in dillusion but still fights for a cure to the disease that has taken everything from him. Going over 1,000 days without someone to talk to would test even the strongest person's character, so I enjoyed your reaction and video very much.
If you’re also bored and tired by zombies I’d recommend the first movie adaption of I am legend which is called The last man on earth in which the earth is - like in the book version - populated with vampirelike creatures.

The two Will Smith movies described at the end are "The Pursuit of Happiness" and "After Earth." I haven't seen either because the first one's a hard hitting drama and the other one got a lot of hate, being made during M. Night Shyamalan's slump(i.e. before "Split")

I wonder if he had it together enough to know that Fred couldn't move there himself, or if he was unhinged enough to think that Fred moving there was a betrayal of their 'friendship'.
So the zombies moved Fred as bait and set up the trap under the water wow there smart
I’m am legend 2 is out soon love you and your videos girl keep them up

@@QueenTofu that film is so sad

Interesting how the movie is in New York not far from Plumb Island a place that made live ending Viruses, nerve gases etc them labs are no in Tornado Ally... Plumb Island was shut down some years ago by the last owners aka RUSSIA...
there is an alternate ending i think you should see. it explains the whole movie perfectly, and was the book's ending.
I'm not sure what to think about the alternative ending.
This ending makes more sense tbh
Because in the book they were articulate, sentient vampires, not mindless marauding zombies.
The "zombies" set up that trap on Will Smith, they are indeed getting smart. Also showing that they understand what emotions are, because they knew that mannequin would affect Will so much
I didn't understood it the first time, that was a nice twist/a show of intelligence from these creature.
Great comment to these infected still remain intelligent to a certain degree enough to learn from his trap and snare him into theirs.
They are hybrid vampires and zombies
But you got it right
In the book they are more like vampires. It kinda shows in the movie too as they are smart, blood thirsty and only come out at night.
I just love how you're able to articulate your thought process. It never matters if you're right or wrong because it's always interesting.
You always make it an entertaining ride, Tofu, and I really appreciate how you can bring a little light and humor to even such an otherwise really somber movie.
FYI: This movie has 2 official endings. One where he dies and one where he survives. I believe this is the one that was shown in cinema screenings.
I saw the second ending, it was much better than this.
Love to see you getting back into doing reactions, can't wait for future videos. :)
Current ending: The “zombies” are just mindless killers and is a typical zombie plot
“Original” Alternate ending: “Zombies” had territorial behaviour indicating intelligence therefore his trials with the “zombies” were with live subjects and was actually hunting sentient human beings and was actually just hunted down by intelligent being seeking revenge. Against their boogeyman, against their legend.
I'm not sure quotes around original or the world alternate really do justice to the fact that that's how the book ends lol. This is a good movie for a bog standard high budget zombie thriller, but Matheson's book actually had something fascinating to say and tease your imagination with in the most "Twilight Zone" of ways.
correction VAMPIRES
Test audiences hated the ending where the main vampire walks away with the test subject, who is his girlfriend and has a butterfly tattoo, after Neville removes the tubes when he realizes he was the the monster they feared.
Because of course they hate the smarter ending.
You can find the original ending on the DVD and on UA-cam. It's just a lot better.
@@MrBazBake That filmed version also entirely fails to do the book justice because it still loses the thing that gives the title its actual intended meaning
@@MrBazBake
Test audience got room temperature IQ
It is a mediocre movie compared to book.
I think the alternate ending is more hopeful. Humanity isn't gone, it's just changed. And Neville survives.
@@MrBazBake dude we are trying to be vague about the ending because not many have seen this film nor have many seen the alternate ending. Why are you giving out spoilers?

The movies you're talking about in the end were Pursuit of Happyness and After Earth I think. Pursuit of Happyness is based on a true story and is actually a good movie, highly recommend.

Will Smith is such a great actor, his portrayal in this film really gets to the heart😭
Which is why "the slap" shocked everyone lol
yeah that scene when the mannequin moves and he starts asking if it's real and then realized the zombies must have moved it so he starts looking up at the buildings knowing they're watching him is so dope
Another really great reaction. Can’t wait to see you do more of these down the road.
Speaking of…….The Road (a very depressing apocalypse movie that inspired The Last of Us)
To explain a couple of things with this movie.
19:48 that Will Smith Oscar’s reference you pulled off made my day🤣

It’s not religious propaganda it’s there for a brief moment
The alternate ending was by far the better ending and the most loyal to the book
I love how she puts herself in first perspective when talking about the movie 😂 keep saying “we” 💀 how cute 🥰
6:28 Women: *Notices the Legally Blonde poster on the building*
Men: *Notices the Batman/Superman poster on the building*
There is actually 2 endings to this movie one where he dies and one where he gives the girl zombie back and they leave them alone as the zombies only wanted the girl back. He then goes with them to the colony.
Not going to lie seeing you in the kitchen cooking was incredibly hawwttt
fun fact: in the time square shot, when will is hunting deer at the beginning, theres a superman/batman logo. and its the very first easter egg wb dropped about making a superman/batman movie
As someone who is from New York City, I can safely say that during the early days of the pandemic, I felt like I was living in the world of I am Legend.
39:58 THERE IT IS! *chef's kiss* brilliant edit 😂
Yet another masterclass in quality editing by you, Tofu! 👑

Yeah this is the only reaction channel that everything she plays or watches, I’ve played or watched it before
The fact that the upcoming sequel is going to be following the alternate version of this movie that wasn't released in theatres, is extremely telling as to how the creator of the movie felt about what the studio forced upon his decision to change this ending... that's not even including the 30+ minutes of removed footage which actually had us spend time with the woman and child throughout the city doing various things which helped to build their characters.
The story was written in 1954 by Richard Matheson
This is one of my favorite movies.I have watched this reaction multiple times cuz it's just that good, you kicked ass girl. So damn gorgeous, and there's something about your energy and the way you carry and express yourself that makes you even more lovely. Having a heart ❤️ of gold doesn't hurt either, with the sweetest and cutest giggles ever, kudos to you Queen T, love your channel and reactions.
For Will Smith films that are on the lighter side, I recommend the first three of the sci-fi action/comedy franchise Men in Black: Men in Black (1997)
, Men in Black II (2002)
, and Men in Black 3 (2012).
I was really scared of those "zombies" when I was young and couldn't sleep at night.
And when I grew up I loved them, the whole concept of being safe during the day, having to barricade yourself as soon as the night starts and for once the "zombies" weren't slow/boring.
they are actually NOT ZOMBIES they are LITERALLY VAMPIRES
If you think real zombies are boring, you haven't paid attention.
not many movie (that I've seen) made interesting zombie.
@@houseofaction kind of yeah
The flashbacks are heartbreaking. Seeing your family go like that is jarring.
I love that you’re making videos again, and I love that you’re doing movie reactions/commentaries again. You’re the best, Tofu!

I totally forgot there are three endings to this movie. Check out the alternate endings on YT!

There is an alternate ending that IMHO was a bit more poignant in giving the reason why the Alpha was so insistent on tracking him down....
the mannequins are and indication of what Robert’s mental state is, so he starts seeing stuff like Fred going outside making him question if he is actual a real person this whole time
I think a few people in the comments have brought it up already but I can’t stress enough how much more interesting the alternate ending to the movie is, really recontextualizes the “I am legend” title for the movie and is the original ending the source material has for it

Man, it's a testament to how much RDR2 meant to you, that you were referencing it in the sponsor section 2.5 years after playing it.
I love how you do your commentary as if we are the main character
that a male mentality right there. "I can still fix this!"
It's all we really have. fixing things, and being the rock that the family leans against.
I just found your channel and I love your commentary! 😭😂
Also the flashlight thing he does in the building while looking for Sam is just a DIY way of illuminating a dark area quickly and then back off so as not to give away your position during a “tactical” situation.
They are not zombies, they are more of a vampire.
I've been watching more and more movie reactions recently so would definitely love to see more from you. You're always interesting and entertaining with your content 👍
Will be interesting to see where the plot goes for Part 2
A lot of people do call these creatures zombies but I'm pretty sure they're actually called vampires in a lot of the descriptions of the movie, that's why they're so smart like when they copied his wire trap to use against him
24:50 Truer facts have never been spoken! My fur baby is my world, definitely keeps me in check!
“Strongly worded words for you” hahahaha
Everyone keeps calling them zombies, but these creatures are more akin to vampire than zombies. The book made that a little more obvious than the movie did.
And they aren't exactly dead, just mutated. Like 28 days later.

I know this is old, but since you mentioned top Will Smith movies, my suggestions off the top of my head would be Independence Day, and Men in Black.
Your mood makes my day better 😌
For a good (better) post-apocalyptic movie, you should watch The Book of Eli, and The Road.
the rdr2 music at the end instantly made me want to rewatch you red dead series
I love your reactions and gameplay! I discovered your channel back during the God of War release in 2018 I’m glad to see you are still doing well, I know when it comes to UA-cam there is burn out so I totally understand, so long as you do it out of your own joy then keep going!
I’d like to recommend some movies;
1. Saving private Ryan
2. Interstellar
3. A haunted house
4. Troy
Watching videos like this gives me new ideas for the stories I write. Especially the part where the Darkseekers used Will’s own trap on him.
Some noteworthy Will Smith movies that can show his range as an actor: Men In Black (all 3), Independence Day, Hitch, Wild Wild West, Bright, & (my personal all time favorite Will Smith movie) Collateral Beauty.
One of my favorite apocalyptic films. Also one of the saddest in my opinion 😥
The two Will Smith movies described at the end are "The Pursuit of Happiness" and "After Earth." I haven't seen either because the first one's a hard hitting drama and the other one got a lot of hate, being made during M. Night Shyamalan's slump(i.e. before "Split")
