The scene where he has to kill sam gets me every time, especially when they show u later on that she was all he had left! Amazing reaction ones again!!👍🏼
The alternate ending is so much better and is accurate to the original novela. The ending in the book reveals that the main character has become the boogeyman in this new world. He's the monster that the new species fear. That's why he was considered a legend. He's essentially the creature in a scary story that is passed down through generations.
@@christophermcbride2522 I understand the movie, you know, what was reacted to. I could really care less about the book or any other content. I'm talking about the movie.
"I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson is the original work. The title and story are a role reversal of Dracula. The plot is similar, to a point. The biggest style differences are that the infected have vampire traits and are of normal human intelligence. Consider: He lives by himself in a fortress (castle). He comes out when everyone else is asleep, kidnapping the helpless (LOL) from society to do terrifying blood things to them and are never seen again. At the end, he is finally captured and told he before killed he was the bane of their new (vampire) society, clinging to the ancient (pre-pandemic) ways. He is a montster of legend.
That don’t even make sense tho. The creatures legit wiped out humanity. How is will smiths character the “bad guy” or boogeyman😂 bro watched everyone he knows get murdered
The scene with the dog is very heartbreaking!😥😥 Ridley Scott was going to direct the film in 1997, with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the character Robert Neville, but due to extensive script rewrites and Schwarzenegger dropping out of the project, Warner Bros put the project on hold, until Francis Lawrence was hired to direct the film after Warner executives were impressed by his first film, Constantine with Keanu Reeves.
The scene with Sam (The dog) dying lives with me forever. I saw this movie when I was younger and every time I hear Three Little Birds - Bob Marley all I think of is that scene.
One thing to note on this movie is that. For the darkseekers a.k.a the infected people Will is like a boogeyman to them. He hunts them, he kills them. It's like a reverse roll of some sort.
To answer you guys.. there was a lot of CGI, but the movie also took over many NYC blocks for real. They'd shoot overnight and at dusk so that there'd be less people, but everyday there'd be something shut down due to this movie. I lived in NYC back then and it might have been the biggest movie shoot that I can remember. I do remember Tom Cruise shutting down Times Square for Vanilla Sky, but this was bigger.
Excellent reaction team, I really really love how you both get so emotionally involved with all the films, especially because you have kids and know how we would all feel in these situations.

Fun fact about Sam will smith actually tried to adopt her because of how good of a bond they had filming but the owner didn't want to sleep her to will.
I always saw “The Butterfly” as a metaphor for “The butterfly effect”. The play on god and everything “happening for a reason” (Sam saving Robert’s life> His life being saved> him saving humanity)
This is the third movie made from the 1954 Richard Matheson book "I Am Legend" (In the book and in this movie, they are vampires not zombies). The first was a Vincent Price movie called "The Last Man on Earth" (1964), then Charlton Heston in "The Omega Man" (1971), then this movie. Side note: The Vincent Price movie from 1964 was George Romero's inspiration for a worldwide zombie outbreak in 1968's "Night of the Living Dead".

There's more to the alternate ending. He's with her when she arrives at the survivor's colony. And the ending is truer to the novel. From the new vampire species' point of view, *he* is the monster. The legend.
Great reaction guys, I must admit I prefer the alternate ending as it makes more sense when you look at the film as a whole. The only reason the turned go after him is because he kidnaps the female. Apart from the bit with the dog I loved this movie, how will Smith can do an entire film basically by himself is pretty good. You have to be really good at acting to carry an entire film like that
I have seen this movie a plethora of times I must say you guys are a breath of fresh air I like your work keep up the good work eyes and happy holidays
I believe that there are two reasons as to why the alpha infected did not join in the attack where he released the infected dogs. It could be one of, or both of the following reasons. One, it’s shown earlier in the movie in that newspaper clipping, that infected dogs can come out at dusk, when there is still a decent amount of UV outdoors. I think this was shown up close for a reason, as you pointed out. I think the infected dogs have a higher tolerance for this than infected humans. It’s shown to us that the infected human who followed him outside during the Sam rescue, died in a matter of seconds despite being in the fairly well shaded and dim lighting of the buildings shadow. Two, the alpha infected is shown later in the film to know that he needs to avoid gunfire from Robert, when attacking him in the house. I think that this infected, as with all of the infected in Manhattan, have spent years listening to Robert live among them in the daylight and have become somewhat familiar with what threats he can pose to them. It makes sense to think that with the possibility that the alpha may have even set the trap himself, that he likely has a sense of self preservation when it comes to Robert and firearms. It’s possible he would think to not attack him directly with the dogs from a straight angle and at a distance, as he’d likely be shot, or at least understand that Robert can impose some sort of harm from a distance. This along with the former reason may be why he didn’t not run out there with the dogs.

There have been a few movies that came out based on this story. "I Am Legend" is an Italian produced black and white film film starring horror movie legend Vincent Price, and very closely follows the original story. One of the best reactions you guys have ever done. The movie is very affecting on so many levels. Glad you did both endings. Sure there'll be tons of comments about the original ending being more true to the book. Omega Man, which I think was one of the first adaptations of the book is even more true to the novel.
That Batman v Superman poster was something a lot of us noticed and there were campaigns to make it real after this movie came out. It took years for actual BvS movies came out so it is doubtful it helped, but I nerded out like crazy seeing that logo. I still think it looked better than actual movie´s one. Sadly, this movie is another example of completely missing the point of the original. Book was not about curing whatever was wrong. The book version is a legend to the survivors who are all night creatures because they all fear him as the last human.
That Batman/Superman ad was actually for a Justice League movie. Would of been like team Batman vs team Superman. If i remember right suppose to be a big battle in the opening/start where Wonder woman was suppose to kill Aquaman or somebody like that in the opening of the movie. Or maybe Wonder Women gets killed in the opening lol i can't remember 😅

Richard Matheson.
I would love to see all the movies that u mentioned
I'd love to see you guys react to The Mist.
i loved this movie and cried to it as a kid and still as an adult. i wish for a part 2 or a prequel before the heli crash.
One of the best reactions you guys have ever done. The movie is very affecting on so many levels. Glad you did both endings. Sure there'll be tons of comments about the original ending being more true to the book. Omega Man, which I think was one of the first adaptations of the book is even more true to the novel.
Try to get hold of the original movie with Vincent Price. It's called the Last Man on Earth. There are some truly haunting parts of that film.
Frick on a stick, Justin!
He was saving the bacon for Sam 😢😢
That Batman v Superman poster was something a lot of us noticed and there were campaigns to make it real after this movie came out. It took years for actual BvS movies came out so it is doubtful it helped, but I nerded out like crazy seeing that logo. I still think it looked better than actual movie´s one.
Sadly, this movie is another example of completely missing the point of the original. Book was not about curing whatever was wrong. The book version is a legend to the survivors who are all night creatures because they all fear him as the last human.
This is an incredible good movie and so is the book not to mention the Charlton Heston - The Omega Man👍👍
That Batman/Superman ad was actually for a Justice League movie. Would of been like team Batman vs team Superman. If i remember right suppose to be a big battle in the opening/start where Wonder woman was suppose to kill Aquaman or somebody like that in the opening of the movie. Or maybe Wonder Women gets killed in the opening lol i can't remember 😅
52:40 the book is the one that literally invented zombiesssss
