- Walls are up around The Golden Bear Theatre at Six Flags Magic Mountain! And they are semi-permanent too! Whatever the park is doing is gonna be big! Could 2025 be the year we finally see a giga?

I don’t think people realize how large that area will be once they clear it out. It will be sizable. And no way in hell SFMM does all that work for a flat ride. And because of how hilly that area is, we’re not looking at a kids area either. Which leaves either a coaster or a water ride. A water ride isn’t competition for Fast and Furious. It’s likely a coaster.
aw I really hope they save as much trees as they can with this project. They’ve been removing so many these past few years and not replanting new ones.
Totally! I hate seeing how many trees they keep removing!
Getting rid of the trees would make the park uglier. Those trees are beautiful, as is the area of the theater. If they can find a way to save as many as possible, it would retain the beauty for the new attraction.
BTW, seems random, but just came across this channel. I used to subscribe to ACN around 2001, when they had quicktime videos/montages of coasters. I was always debating on the forums.
I feel with the old knotts rumors and the merge MM might get a giga leaving knotts as the family park and MM as the thrill park
I'm 90% sure that's what's happening.
The merger hasn't even happened yet. Whatever they are doing was planned YEARS ago.
How about a giga rollercoaster, several flat rides and maybe a train or new monorail for transportation.
Btw, please save the trees...there expensive to replace and they keep the park cool during the summer.
I hope they save as many trees as possible too!
Benches were pulled separately so Magic Mountain could recycle them. Gotta make every dollar you can!
Oh yeah! Of course! Thanks.
My first visit to Magic Mountain was in '75 and I have visited the park at least a hundred times. I've never seen a show at the Golden Bear Theatre, so I'm not going to miss the place.
Saw the Royal Chinese Acrobats in the Golden Bear many years ago. Those performers were absolutely amazing. Truly a highlight of any trip I have ever made to SFMM. Sadly, this venue was underused and practically abandoned in later years. Still, nothing but good memories of what I DID see in there. SFMM needs more shows/live entertainment. That theater over by Twisted Colossus is underused as well. Both venues gave solace from the oppressive heat during the summer months.
Unique.... A mack extreme spinner with a new layout, not a time traveler or ride to happiness clone.
I'd be happy with that too!
they moved full throttle stage 2 weeks ago and the rest last weekend
I didn't realize how big it was I smell giga or something really close
Sad to see all those trees go hopefully they keep most of them. What they are going to be putting up better be good.
I hope so too!
Hyper Tilt coaster would be unique.
Agreed!
Metal posts on the wall so they can add access gates for equipment and trucks. It's probably going to be closed for a year at least and that wall would be better than a temp chainlink. It will be pretty sad if they cut down all of those trees. I'm still rooting on a dark ride!
Right, yeah. I'm just surprised because for Wonder Woman they didn't do anything like this. It was just a bunch of sandbagged walls and chain link. That goes for the other projects I've followed too.
Calling out now: Giga Spinning Axis Tilt Coaster
LMFAO! I was just thinking the same thing on my drive to work a little bit ago!
In your dreams...
Intamin's new "Giga" Splash model. 🤞
Great update - kind of odd both Six Flags and Universal could both be removing theaters for coasters (we need more entertainment at theme parks, though)
Thanks. And I agree that we need more entertainment in parks. Knott's does a great job with that!
What they SHOULD do with the newly opened space for the temp. stage and the theater is extend Full Throttle beyond the final drop with an acceleration section after the drop for another loop or at least some sweet turns - that drop after going over the top of the loop is always such a let-down since you’re slowing down throughout the drop instead of speeding up - fix what you once screwed up, Six Flags!!!
Would be nice. But never gonna happen. They should have used the area where the old Metro station was. Removed at the same time at Log Jammer.
@@AmericasCoasterNetwork yeah, probably not worth trying to be logical about any of it, since SFMM stopped being logical about decisions long ago, lol
It’s going to be a large scale roller coaster🎢
It's been forever since they got one!
All that work just for a water fountain... (I'm joking, but some of the earliest construction markers on this plot were blue which generally means potable water.) I am really curious as to what the new attraction will be. Like others, I would definitely hope for a Giga. Inversions would make it unique. An Axis coaster would be unique. A T-Rex would be unique.A custom Mack XTreme spinner would be unique. Only time will tell.
Monorail track @ 4m 44s 👀
Miss the monorail the park needs more transportation rides like back in it’s early days
Totally!
Would you rather have a giga on par with Fury 325, or "something unique"? It is a unique plot of land, so I think that's pretty interesting. Universal is definitely doing something unique, and let's just say I have high hopes. I might pick unique even though it is extremely vague.
Ill go.with something.comperable to Fury over something unique with a gimmick and too short
I'd take Fury.
Giga coaster calling it now
The last concert I remember seeing at the *Golden Bear Theatre* (Showcase Theatre back then) was BJ Thomas (if I recall that was back in the late 70's). So seeing it getting replaced with a new roller coaster is not a big problem with me. BTW seeing that lone rail of the former Metro brings a little tear to my eye, MM is a lot walking and riding it saved my burning feet after everywhere throughout the park.
I wish they kept the monorail!
The park really needs that one huge smooth ride that other parks have they’ve built so many smaller intense rides it’s time for the park to get that one ride that will have someone come to the park all the time to ride
Wonder if their reusing the Q line and the actual theater as the station for the giga or whatever it is.
I feel that everything will go.
RIP Golden 🐻! Don’t think I ever saw a show there. It would fit in better at Knott’s Berry Farm. They should just relocate it.
The park really needs to be made more attractive. But that may not bring in enough new visitors to justify the expense. Still, the current layout isn't doing the trick either. Guests at SFMM are often dressed up as empty, wide-open concrete walkways. As for a new coaster, that will draw in fans of spin-zoom-&-puke. But not everyone is into that. In turn, fans of coasters aren't into slow-moving dark rides. So it ends up being a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't. Or SFMM being caught between a rock & a hard place.
I've also seen vids of very good-looking, elaborately themed parks in Dubai, UAE, but they're about as dead as SFMM on a Monday evening at 5:45 pm. Regardless, I still think SFMM needs to be given a major makeover. Right now it gives off the vibes of a dead mall built in the 1980s or 1990s.
Well said. The park needs a major overhaul from top to bottom.
I don't see how they're could possibly be room for a gig of there, unless it's just a station and the supports are all over the north and eastern half of the park.
Plenty of room for a station and a lift towards Full Throttle.
I thought there was still a piece of monorail track near where you walk underneath Superman
There is. I think it's the same section. It'll probably all go away.
@@AmericasCoasterNetwork oh, I didn't think they were still connected. Hopefully they reuse them as some sort of visual border or even repurpose them to be benches to sit on somewhere in the park.
Giga is more possible now that six flags will merge with cedar fair
Except the merger hasn't happened yet and projects are planned years in advance.
Any news on that EDM Music Festival on March 16 at Magic Mountain?
Oh. I'm not even familiar....
i was their today 2 pm to 530pm almost 20 thousand steps
Take Me😘
A giga with inversions.
RMC?
I don't really think that space is big enough for a Giga. Problably could fit a good Gerstlauer. But that doesn't mean they will never get a Giga
Room for a station and a lift towards Full Throttle. With tons of room around.
Giga?!
Time will tell what will replace GBT.
Hopefully! 🤞
I 👃a Giga coming with that much land in that area,. From a marketing point of view it makes sense as there is no Giga coaster on the west coast and it would fit extremely well with the current coaster line up. Just imagine how big and insane the layout could be with a Giga built on a mountainside. Maybe bigger than Fury 325???? time will tell....
Also with their post on X (twitter) April 1, 2023 cominG soon to sIx flaGs mAgic mountain...🎢
Think more "launch" than giga... Whens youre next visit?
I hope it isn't another launch coaster. And I'll likely visit next week Friday or Saturday.
@@AmericasCoasterNetwork hope to see you in the park
Tilt or dive! Can’t get your hopes to high with the bs there doing at SFOT. Only time will tell 🤷🏽♂️
What's up with SFOT?
Yeah what's up with SFoT?
SeaWorld has one and Knotts kind of does
My thought is the wall will be permanent. That will be the new edge of the pavement. Bits beyond might get ripped up, and the two openings may be entrance and exit.
It's most definitely a temporary wall made of 4x8 flats.
I feel like they need to stop adding coasters and focus on improving the overall park experience. Going there isn't a good experience, just feels like a souless park and a lack of landscaping. They should really add more atmosphere to the park instead of it being concrete central
I gotta say that there's been improvements on landscaping. Filling in a lot of empty dirt under the trees with shrubs. When I was leaving the park, they had fresh landscaping in the median of the entrance/exit after the toll booths. But there's a lot more they need to do.
It has been a long while since I went
Hopes are.High but I have little to no faith in Six Flags...Im sure itll be half-a$$ whatever it is, probably another gimmick one trick pony
Wonder Woman isn't a one trick pony...
@@JohnnyiswhereWW is a good coaster
