  • BlackVue DR900X-2CH Dash Cam - amzn.to/34bMJMI
    I have been wanting to add a dashcam to my Jeep for a while. Not only for potential traffic accidents on the many road trips that I take it on, but for security while parked, but also to catch things I might miss on the trail in vlogs.
    Today we are taking a look at the BlackVue DR900X-2CH Dashcam and installing it into my 2020 Jeep Wrangler.

    Thank you for this video. I just removed my hard top to work on a few mods and glad I watched this before putting it back on since the BlackVue dashcam is one of the items I am adding and you did a great job showing how to install. Much easier with the top off! So many of your videos have helped me with decisions on what and how to install on the Eco Diesel. Keep up the great work! 1st time Jeep owner and learning lots.

    Really appreciated you calling out the battery wire and accessory wire bundled with the interior aux switch loom! I was agonizing over whether to go through the firewall on the driver side... or the passenger side... or outside under the panel at the corner of the windshield... The interior loom was the no-brainer best option for me and made install a breeze. Thanks!

    I got my hands on a Thinkware F200 cam for roughly 2 years now. Plug in and forget about it. It records all I need. But it moves around if you want to hit a button on it and then you have to realign it with the hood instead of the sky.
    I should of got the top model from the start.

    I'm glad I kept looking for other dash cam install videos and came across yours, the others were doing some pretty lazy (imo) wire routing to the fuse box (which wasn't even needed lol). Thankfully my Sahara came with the Aux switches.

    Are there any parameters put in place in case of theft of camera? Specifically, we run naked in the warmer months and someone might decide to try and steal the rear camera, especially if they just stole something else and want to cover their tracks. Does it store footage to cloud automatically in those instances?

    Casey, what size sd card are you using? What is the largest capacity card? How large are the video files? Does it overwrite the files when it runs out of space? What are the costs for the cloud storage and how long do they store the files for?
    Looks like a very nice system but you left out too much information for a review.

    • @Casey250
      @Casey250  3 роки тому +2

      Your right, but it all fairness I also didn't say it was a review. I am using a 64gb card, it uses up to a 256gb card. Its about 192mb / minute of recorded video on the highest quality setting. It overwrites files as needed unless you tell it to lock event tagged files.

    Thanks for the detailed overview. I’m installing a 750 in my wife’s 2020 JLU Sahara. I can’t get the unit to power on with hardwire kit. To double check, I’m going BATT wire to the Red/White, and ACC to the Pink/Orange. And I’m used the bottom unused ground nut. Any ideas?

      Turns out the yellow BATT wire had a blown fuse... but now I’m wondering why. If it came that way, no problem. If it blew ... idk where to start. The fuse didn’t look burnt or anything inside the glass, just broken filament

    I'm going to do a multi-day Overland trip. I'd love to capture all the video while the vehicle is moving and store it on an in car hard/flash drive. I may be where the is no cell service so uploading to the cloud would have to be on a, as available, basis. Then I could grab sections when I'm back home that I find interesting for a future Vlog. Thoughts?

    • @Casey250

      Id fire a 256gb card in and download clips to your phone if something interesting occurs. A GoPro hero 8 or 9 is a better camera for capturing things you know are going to happen.

    I'm pausing the video at :21 to comment. This is the exact model I have - the DR900X-2CH 4k. The big one looks forward and the small one looks back at the driver. I have an RTT mid-height in the bed of my Tacoma, so shooting out the rear window is useless. The smaller, second camera is the nighttime version which has extra infrared lights which I purchased afterwards. The primary purpose for me is to verify my version of events in the unlikely event I get into a motor vehicle accident. That is to say, I don't trust the other person to tell the truth about what happened. The secondary camera points to me in case the other party wants to sue, and I can verify I wasn't texting on my phone or otherwise distracted. Edit: Your back camera - I see you have it taped to a plastic trim panel. Unless it's taped to an ultra smooth surface like glass, you're going to find it dangling by the cord in a month or two. Due to the textured surface of the plastic and the off-gassing of the plastic, it's eventually going to come loose. It might stay more secure if you can find a way to zip tie it tight.

    • @Casey250
      @Casey250  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the feedback. I was wondering how it would stick once it gets hot. I have some other 3m tape which has worked well on various surfaces that i'll try if its a problem. I gava it a good clean with alcohol first but I guess time will tell.
