This is how instructional videos should be done! Other UA-camrs take note! No shaky video, no bad angles, no bloated talk, no crazy music; just the steps needed. Thanks Booster and Shutter!
You have no idea how long I dug around youtube looking for help in hardwiring my setup. After about 20 videos where the details didn't apply to my situation in the ways I needed, I found yours. THANK YOU
Absolutely brilliant. I never thought about which way round the fuse should be inserted but it is so obvious 🙄. Articulate and clear and no music to listen through. The advice about the use of the multi meter makes the job far easier.
These videos are of the highest quality when it comes to showing you how to get the job done. I’m no young pup and these new cars are the most temperamental I’ve ever worked on due to the electronics. This vid made my installation a breeze. Thanks !
I would never even had thought about the way the fuse works and the current flows through it, and making sure it’s around the right way! Thanks so much for this video, it’s the best one I’ve seen!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Your video showing how the fuse tester works, how to professionally run the harness, and just EVERYTHING about this video is 100% fantastic. I completely agree with other's comments about how to properly shoot an instructional video. You nailed it, sir. Thank you!!!
This is without doubt the best instructional video I have ever watched and I watch a vast number of them. Nothing requiring further explanation. No flannel. Crystal clear delivery. No B.S. Thank you very, very much.
Ok, so maybe silly question. The fuse doesn't look like it's changeable, on the hardwire kit, so what if the fuse actually blows? Do you have to get another hardwire kit?
Absolutely best video on UA-cam for the novice installer I have some experience with installing car add-ons and this man is absolutely The best I have seen
You should be using a fuse tap for both of those. The fuse is sharing power between the camera and the other source, which is causing the drop during start.
Just got the Rexing V1P Max & after getting a few quotes was hoping to do the installation myself (I've built computers & wired my house). Checked out a few vids but yours are definitely the best. Very thorough & concise. Clear instructions & explanations. I've taught in IT and quite impressed in your videos. Great job & thank you!
Excellent video and explanation of the fuse testing! I would only add that if you're removing the trim pillar on a car with curtain airbags, you should disconnect the battery and wait for 10 minutes first.
One question can you just plug in the one that only works when the the car is started. Or do both have to be connected? Anyone know as getting ahold of Rexing is ridiculous. They can't even respond to emails 😒
Thank you so much for doing this video. It is clear and concise and well planned. I'm sure it took you considerable time to produce. I plan on buying this particular cam for the new truck I ordered a couple months ago. Now I'm armed with important information to do a proper professional install. Kudos
Thank you for the video. One thing I was curious about is that you replaced slot 29 to yellow wire. Then what happens with the fog light? Can you still use the fog light?
Thank You !! I really appreciate the time you spent showing everyone this technique. Otherwise I would have to take it to a shop to hardwire. You nailed it !!
Super informative and technical instruction is of best practices. Thanks! Hard wire kit install is useful for all modern era cars. Applicable to 10th Gen Civic Ex. Mas Gracias
Great video and very well explained. One thing I am not sure about, you removed the fuse for the fog lights and replaced it with the fuse for your camera. So what's going on with the fog lights. Are they disabled?
I have dash cams, rearview dash cam, radar detector and dedicated power pack for dash cams, and I'd like to hardwire all these items. How many fuses can I tap (pull) from the fuse box? Also, does it affect the operation of the car electronic components? Thank you. Great content. Thank you for your contribution.
Hello and what an amazing video I spent the money to have it installed (Rexing V33 plus) and I wish I watched this beforehand. You did an amazing job showing how simple this is with a little patience and following the steps anyone should be able to install. Thanks for the video.
Did you find your answer? I just recently bought dash cam, and I think I need to replace the hard wire fuse wire connection with fuse tap so I could put 2 fuse in one fuse slot. But I'm trying to find if removing the original fuse and replacing it with dash cam fuse that came with the hard wire will work alone. Just like what he did, when he removed the fog light fuse and replace it with hard wire fuse.
@@justinphillips8317 after doing more research and poking around my fuse box. Most of my fuses are being use so I would need to use a fuse tap to get the power needed.
Hi on one of your previous videos i saw you just pulled out the same amp fuse (15 amp) and plugged in the new one with the cable attached to the 15 amp fuse that came as is with the cables. This means the one 15 amp fuse runs for the new camera and the original 15amp fuse in that box location. Can you do that or do you have to put a fuse splice and add 2 fuses of 15 amps?
Thanks for the video. 👍 I think you vid is the best in terms of not having shaky video shot, step-by-step and explanation on which fuse slot to use, how to determine the orientation of fuse should be inserted. Many videos out there are missing the last 2 illustrations above-mentioned.
Ive have loved this video watch probably 10x . Doing this job. I used the smat spot as you did and i cant get parking mode to work the dashcam comes on and off when i start the car . I put acc fuse in the empty one just as you did and saying its not getting signal to dashcam and dascam turns off when car does.
Awesome…..best install video on UA-cam. Not going the side curtains airbags makes me a little nervous 😬. Planning on installing this camera on my 2022 sienna.
Thanks for the video!! Question: If I don't plan on using the 24hr parking surveillance, can I only connect the RED ACC cable and forget about the yellow one?
Thanks! I follow your video and I have everything done. Actually, I went to 3 places to have this installation done, and they didn't have time to do it. They wana me to make appointment to plug the three wires, cause I already have done all the wires passed through. So it was almost done, I only have doubt to connect the three wires to the painel box. And you did very good, all details that I was needing. Thank you so much, for your time to make the video.
Isn't it true the yellow wire isn't always to the constant battery, but it depends on the camera. I have seen some cameras were the yellow is ACC power
Perfect . I have nextbase 300 unfortunately don't save time and date , every time I start the car I need to setup the date and time again regardless in setup I tick save user stting .. I conect the fuse with rear wiper, any idea why ?
Such a great how to install. Helped that I have a Crosstrek. Did this Friday night and it’s such a clean install. Thanks for taking the time to record and share this!
Assuming the red wire in the video is ACC, is that the only wire I need to connect (in addition to the ground) for my Garmin Mini Dash Cam if I only want it to have power when the ignition is on?
How do I find the spot for the accessories plug? All the fuses I wanna use, I gotta stay away from . I found a spot for my constant power, but can’t find a slot for when you shut down the car? My camera stays on. I have the Rexing 4 ch. camera. Seems like I can’t find a spot for the accessories wire? I’m using a multi meter too. When I test, they all have power in both legs, or they have no power? Can’t figure this thing out?
The hardwire kit that comes with Vantrue cameras only comes with the red wire and ground, for constant power, I'm assuming that the camera "knows" when the car is running or in parking mode? I'm worried about the battery on this setup.
Excellent work firmware update would do the trick. Old school would be to add slow acting relay so as the camera gets power after the car starts. Handy if you get stuck with anything else that gives trouble. However I doubt I would have found out that problem without you video.
This video is hands down one of the best, most perfectly explained and detailed instructionals out there. Unfortunately I came across a snag. I bought a rexing camera and their oem hardwire kit yet their kit instead of coming with 2 cabled fuses came with 2 pseudofuses with 2 fuse piggyback slots on each pseudofuse. They did include 1 fuse in 1 of the 2 the piggyback slots but it was only a 2amp. Not sure where to go from here, any ideas? Thanks in advance if you do!
Glad you asked this as well Dave…I have the same hardware which I received two days ago and not sure what my next move is as well…I keep searching for more info but can’t seem to find anything about it…do I change them out for different amp fuse or is this part of maybe the update that was talked about in the video….🤷🏻♂️
No BS! No Loud Music! No News Anchor Antics! Excellent-Thank you very much!
A single video that anyone needs to do this job… awesome video, right on point throughout the video
Clear . concise, accurate. No extra BS. Great job and extremely helpful.
Thank you much buddy
I second that, this project went from what did I get myself into, to a breeze

It is great to see an installer that actually understands the proper orientation for the fuse tap! 👍

Excellent review and install demo. I’m going to be doing this on my son’s Subaru Crosstrek in a about a week, so this was an added bonus.
Struggling for days getting my cam installed with different tutorials. This is the best one. Thank you so much!
as a non technical person, this really helped me with the fuse panel installation part of installing my dash cam and hardwire kit. thank you!
The most clear explanation I've seen so far, best video out there great job!

Outstanding. Excellent explanation of why the camera was not turning on correctly.
This guy has the best explanation of installing a hardwire dash cam!!!!
Thanks for making this video. The Rexing videos are not clear at all and this will make installation much easier.

Great speaking style. Fast, but not too fast. Very clear presentation.
Excellent video and explanation of the fuse testing! I would only add that if you're removing the trim pillar on a car with curtain airbags, you should disconnect the battery and wait for 10 minutes first.
You didnt mention using a fuse tap so you can use the existing fuse along with the hardwire fuse. Crucial step left out.
Yes like know he can’t use his fog lights
Just bought the Rexing V5 with hardwiring kit. I had no idea how to wire it into the fuse box. Your video made it so easy. Thanks!!
Finally! someone who did this right. Thank you for your detail descriptions in your tutorial. Good Job
Thanks for the comment!
Thanks so much! This is by far the best DIY hardwire install on UA-cam! Great job.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching.

So far the best video on you tube for installing the hardwired kit for dash cams. Thank a lot for sharing your knowledge. Best wishes for you.✌🏽
I never really comment on videos. Amazing. Clear and detailed. Thank you for a great job.
Seriously a model video format for other YTers.. thank you for this! Earned my sub!
An exceptionally clear video. One of the best on any topic I’ve ever seen. Thanks.
Thanks!

So professional! A complete guide. Thanks very much!
Excellent video. I just realize my camera stays on with the OB2 so im installing one of these.
Some cams has a delay in their settings, it can be a workaround for shutting down the cam on voltage drop at the start
A big thanks to you brother for the clear instructions.. I just installed it within few minutes because of you 👍🏻

One of the best tutorial videos I have ever seen. Thank you!!!!!!
4:27 I think you can choose a slot with a fuse the same value or bigger. Like the yellow 20A.
Excellent job with the hard wire kit installation, I learned a lot today.
I found a fuse with the number 30 on it. It turns on when the car is off. Can I use the batt power cable to it?? Please help‼️‼️
One of the best and thouroughly explained videos that I have seen on UA-cam in a long time. Excellent video! Great job and thanks for sharing.

Excellent video! Now I understand how to use the lock feature and turn on WIFI. Keep up the great work!
What happens if that circuit blows the fuse in the wire kit? Can it be replaced, or is the wire kit no good?
The question, you don't need to use a fuse tap to install the wire kit? The fuse is still powering the other unit that the fuse was taken from?
Did you find your answer? I just recently bought dash cam, and I think I need to replace the hard wire fuse wire connection with fuse tap so I could put 2 fuse in one fuse slot. My car and camera are different, but your video gave a clear picture of what needs done. Excellent video, Thank you!
been searching for the information for a week. Thank you so much for the details. Really appreciate your video.
Great video.
Thank you for calling out the defect in the Rexing design.
This will help my choice of camera.
In their defense I haven't had that problem post-install. I think as long as you have a strong, healthy battery that won't be an issue.
Nice video, but I have a doubt as to which leg is attached to the cable.
Thanks for the video. 👍 I think you vid is the best in terms of not having shaky video shot, step-by-step and explanation on which fuse slot to use, how to determine the orientation of fuse should be inserted. Many videos out there are missing the last 2 illustrations above-mentioned.
How do you put the yellow retainer piece back into place? It already looked loose/flimsy after the pillar was completely removed
What happen to the fog light since you remove its fuse?

Should the battery be disconnected before removing the side curtain airbag panel?
Dude, your videos are awesome and very well done. I am now confident about hardwiring this camera. Thank you very much!
Thanks for watching!
Quick question years later. For the cable tray in the STI, how do you remove it. Do you just pull it?
Great video! I feel more confident now hardwiring it. Please share a link where I can get the same cable tray you used.
Which pin# on the usb connector is constant, which one is accessory ? More tech i fo pls.
