Important note. The Viofo hardwire wiring harness is 20 gauge aluminum wire. That’s 5 amp max realistically which is why their optional fuse taps come with 5 amp fuses preinstalled. The battery and ACC fuses in the fuse box are 10 amp fuses. You will want to replace those 10 amp fuses in the fuse box with 5 amp ones instead or else you risk overheating that 20 gauge Viofo wiring harness.

Thank you sir. I totally followed your steps and succeded except using the pry tool to pop up the push pin retainer in the middle upper panel. So hard to pop it up. I finally had to remove the front upper panel out of the way and dragged out the pin using a plier. The pry tool can hold it but the pin slipped from the edge as it's soft. The pin was partially damaged but still usable when I pushed it back.

Handy video, thanks for the guide. I had to adapt a bit for JLU, but worked pretty well.

Great video! This removed a lot of the guesswork on running the wires behind paneling.

    Great informative video!
Did your friend eventually hook it up to the head unit?
Will you be making a video on that?

Unfortunately he hasn't yet. He made a parts list of what he needs to buy and program, but hasn't purchased it yet.

So you’re using 2 AUX wires, 1 constant, 1 ignition. Does this mean you can hit either button to turn the cameras off or on?

Never mind, there’s actually 6 wires in the bundle. Four, on for each AUX switch then there’s 1 to battery (always on) and 1 to ACC (ignition). Important note though. The Viofo hardwire wiring harness is 20 gauge aluminum wire. That’s 5 amp max realistically which is why their optional fuse taps come with 5 amp fuses preinstalled. The battery and ACC fuses in the fuse box are 10 amp fuses. Does this impact the aux switchs in any way - i saw that they get wired under the hood, is this just a spare bundle?

The bundle of wires I tapped into are controlled by the aux switches, however the specific one I tapped into (constant on) isn't.

Hi, do you need to setup the Aux to use it? There are 4 of them. Which one is the wire connecting to use it?

    • @FaRKle0079

If you have the aux power harness that's the easiest to use. If you look in the video description you can jump to that section where I point out which wires to use (and their color/markings).

@@FaRKle0079 thank you, i followed your instructions and it work perfectly. One question though, it connected to AUX number 3. So in the setting (AUX), it have the option to switch it between "Battery" and "Ignition". So which one should i choose?

@@lakchilean5279 I'd configure your aux 3 switch to "ignition on." This way the dashcam can go into parking mode when the car is off.

What do you do if you want to take the top off?

    • @FaRKle0079
      @FaRKle0079  2 роки тому +1

You still can! The wires are routed in pieces that don't come off with the roof panels.

@@FaRKle0079 you mounted the camera to the back window. The back window comes off with the top. So when the top is off, the rear camera will not be avail? Interesting you were very worried about the tipping of the front windshield (which most seldom do) but you didn’t install the rear camera so it can be used with the top off (which most everyone does).

I have a 2020 Wrangler. It does not the AUX option (didn't need it) Would it still have the same wires in the harness under the dash??
