At 13:23, this shows what I've explained to a few nerdy friends. You're essentially getting the same visual presentation or visual motion clarity of twice the hertz by using ELMB / BFI tech, assuming you turn the backlight / screen off for 50% of the time. Not all games can run at >300 FPS. If we can figure out a backlight that is both bright enough and can flicker fast & clean enough, if we manage a 75% off / 25% on time, then we could quadruple the _'effective'_ FPS in terms of motion clarity. Imagine playing a game that only puts out 175 FPS consistently, but it's going to feel like 700 Hz. They key is making sure the 25% 'on' time is towards the end of the pixel refresh window, when it's stabilized, so it's showing the intended color. Don't think this will ever work out in OLED tech, so crossing fingers for traditional. Maybe in a few yrs. Maybe Nvidia PULSAR will push the industry further.

Every time I watch these videos I forget that my Alienware ultrawide OLED being $800 when I bought it is the main reason it’s the best, because these prices are insane for what you’re getting.
If this was glossy, this would have been my choice.. Even though I would like to try out glossy vs matte myself. But when paying so much for an oled monitor i would like the full potential of oled to be apparent
It would be cool to get a table, with all oled matrices, to easily navigate the lineup. For example: 34" 3440x1440 175Hz = Glare QD OLED 26.5" 2560x1440 240Hz = Matt WOLED 26.5” 2560x1440 360Hz = Glare QD OLED
4:42 I don't like how QD-OLED warps the text. For example if you look at the M, its right leg appears nearly twice as big as its left leg. I much prefer the blurry text on a WOLED panel.
To me there’s not much difference in text blur from this review. I have the UCDP and disappointed atm due to the haze/grain/blur I see any text on a white background. Darker backgrounds are good but the haze and blur of the white makes my eyes feel blurry after…. Especially compared to my older 27GP950 model. I’m considering switching to UCDM and managing the lighting since I don’t have a lot of windows on my screens. So much compromise whatever you do on a 32” OLED…. At $1300 too! Maybe I’ll give up on 32” OLEDs as there are cons to each. Glossy WOLED I’ll wait for. For now I’ll just get the cheaper PG27AQDP at 1440p480.
I spent a few hours last night building a comparison spreadsheet of the top 4K 240hz monitors. The LG 32GS95UE had the best brightness and 480hz option, but I see you're saying that it's overly bright. The lack of DP2.0 and worse VRR Flicker was also a worry. The Gigabyte FO32U2P was the best competitor that I was thinking to grab at MicroCenter today for $1100, due to it's DP2.0 and lower VRR Flicker. Does DSC really not matter? I was trying to avoid it. Should I just wait for the Asus PG32UCDP now that it comes with USB-C unlike the LG? I'm also worried about low brightness which is why I really wanted the LG 32GS95UE and now the Asus PG32UCDP.
I have the Gigabyte FO32U2P and Asus PG32UCDP side by side right now. The desktop experience is brighter and looks better on the Asus than the Giga, BUT the HDR clipping is INSANE on the Asus. Watching HDR video on both you can see all the clipped areas on the Asus. Even in DisplayHDR 400 True Black it's blown out. Is there no way to fix this? I'm not sure how you could recommend this with this terrible clipping unless there's some EOTF tracking fix. You will literally just see white instead of detail like on the Giga.
I have an older LG 32" VA monitor, G-Sync, Matte, non HDR, and I love it. I only game at a maximum of 85hz, but I'm really looking into OLED. Just not sure what I want to get
Gotta say, the PG32UCDP/M and FO32U2P are the 3 main options for me. 321URX is sold out, Dell doesn't have DP Alt, LG and Samsung don't have USB-C at all and the cheaper AORUS has only 18W PD. But €1520-1699 for ASUS vs. €1430 for Gigabyte (what both cost for me) is hard for ASUS. I like all three tho...
@@goatman86 To be fair, though, kind of difficult to trust any manufacturer these days with honouring warranty. Intel with their 13th/14th gen has also not looked trustworthy refusing some RMA processes or intentionally making it a hassle for customers with a faulty CPU to go through, as just another example. So at this point I'm beginning to think sticking to what I deem the best product is best since I won't trust warranty to be honoured anywhere anymore. ASUS has just been in the spotlight with their atrocious customer service, but there are plenty of complaints looking at other brands as well.
It’s Asus, it has to be the best. Presumably with awesome HDR just like the PG27AQDM and the PG42UQ. Not even mentioning the legendary customer service.
I see the over brightness banding on the 34 inch PG34WCDM WOLED as well. It actually just got a new firmware update, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. It's as if every corona has an additional corona and is extremely visible in HDR gaming. I am actually getting rid of the monitor due to this.
When do we get 5k? 240hz? or maybe a 8k by 5k ultrawide? i would gladly pay early adopter fee if it provided high quality to go along with the high price!
Have they not got the coatings the wrong way around? What I mean is that, QD Oled reflects a purple colour, so, would that not be better to have a Matt finish to reduce this rather than glossy, and the WOled reflects black, so, could support a glossy screen better?
I WISH there was a place in the UK where I could see both the UCDP and UCDM side by side because I'm torn. I currently have a matte 32" 4k monitor and it's perfect for my brighter room, but I REALLY want the glossy look but fear I could never truly appreciate it's looks due to the daylight.
Hey Tim, could you please consider making the "more advanced calibration guide using Calman" you mentioned in the "How to calibrate your monitor" video on HUB? Thanks in advance!
Would you be able to run your suite of test on an S95D or C? I know you don't do TV's but I would love to see how the best TV QD-OLED panel compares to what we are getting in our monitors.
The very few of us that use Tobii eye tracking have to somehow convince Asus that Tobii is fren and they need stop putting their controls bottom center so we can stick our eye tracking there.

Thank you so much for the detailed reviews. I personally do use my current LCD monitor for office tasks during working hours and use it for gaming in the evening. But I often don't use the monitor for longer periods of time during work when I'm on the phone or so. Would it work to have the monitor turn off after 10 min of inactivity to prevent burn-in or do OLEDs no like being shut off and on frequently during the day?
The "Matte Coating" doesn't bother me, I think people trick themselves into thinking its actually such a big deal, thinking TV's and monitors are one in the same. I've been using so called Matte LCD monitors for decades...and it was never a problem. Even less when used with an OLED level panel.
We need affordable OLED. No one really games at 4K and HDR is nice but the panel is way more important. If you could make a video about OLED monitors that are affordable or just give us an update, that would be nice :)
Yeah, but I'm still avoiding Asus products until GN tells me they've actually fixed their customer service issues. LOL. In truth, I'm avoiding OLED until burn-in issues are truly solved. The US version is apparently called the PG32UCDM, and in the warranty we're cautioned that "...damage caused by long-term static (non-moving) images..." They say we should use a screen saver. Not comforting.
Just have the monitor turn itself off (or do it manually) when you step away from it for a couple minutes. I've heard screensavers are also not unproblematic with OLED, though honestly forgot the reason for it. I just turn it off when I step away for longer than like a minute.
micro center already have two of these returned, and it seems like the other one that came out a few months ago is the most returned brand in oled monitor.
Took a while for this one to release since it was announced. Before this come at my retailers next CES will be around the corner to see what's next. But man this will cost like €1700 where I am. Though DFR mode and matte is what I'm after. I was wondering about DFR mode with BFI and yeah unfortunate you can't have 240Hz BFI option at least, quite a shame. So aside from better out of the box calibration and accurate SDR/HDR modes, really wish brightness improves mainly to get a proper BFI and along VRR too. I'm eyeing this monitor but won't rush yet, may wait CES as this point to see what's next, this one won't be for sale in my country for a bit.
An AI crosshair operates using a small neural network, which qualifies it as AI. Many people have become biased AI skeptics. Just so you know, most companies have used neural networks for decades in some shape or form. It's just in fashion to call these features AI now. So, when companies accurately label a feature as AI, you're telling them not to call it what it actually is. Like, what?
I don't see any AI anywhere (not even from Nvidia) based on its real meaning: Artifical Intelligence -- a sentintent being able to make decisions and take actions on its own. Today's sloppy use of the word "AI" is just machine learning, there's no intelligence there. Not even know what to call that crosshair though😂
@@pedro.alcatra Depends on the approach, you claim you did it in like 5 lines of code, but if the approach and subsequently the result are different you can't claim it to be the same. I can make an Ai crosshair complex AF and I can make one in a few lines of code.

I ended up getting the Samsung g80sd 32. "Practice mode" could be useful for people who have never played a MOBA, but get sucked into MOBAs that make use of FPS game characters to draw in new players, or for younger players.
It’s not much worse, basically glossy looks better than matte but it’s not a huge difference. Matte is just focused on if you game in bright areas. But it’s not a huge difference like I said so it shouldn’t be a deal breaker
So Basically 1) Very Close feature set almost (Indiscernible Differences) (This Asus Panel wins based on 3 years off warranty) 2) I think I'm waiting till any sort of discount comes out, before I pull the trigger
Still no review of the 32 inch Samsung Odyssey OLED G8? It seems that since it is the only matte screen QD-OLED that it might have been something different to review.
Waste of time reviewing it, send it into the trash where it belongs. A 4K OLED display with a matte coating is a spectacularly dumb idea. What's the point of running 4K and bottlenecking the clarity with a haze/grain/blur filter on top of it.

I heard we're getting 27"' 4k gaming oleds next year. So I'm gonna wait. All about that DPI.
Finally i have been wait for this
Can you review MSI MAG 274QRF-QD E2 please 🙏🙏🙏 It's popular in my region but has zero detailed reviews
The MSI MAG 321UP is only $799 right now (US). Food for thought.
Im in love with my pg32ucdm ❤
Monitors unboxed is great with coffee in the morning. What would you recommend given all the 4K monitors for best VRR?
"LG has only claimed they cover burn in over email and not specificly stated this on this website and i dont think this is good enough"
Amen! when you're spending an unholy amount on such an item. no pun intended.
Bless your excellent work Tim!.
Nice review. Thank you.
Every time I watch these videos I forget that my Alienware ultrawide OLED being $800 when I bought it is the main reason it’s the best, because these prices are insane for what you’re getting.
If this was glossy, this would have been my choice.. Even though I would like to try out glossy vs matte myself. But when paying so much for an oled monitor i would like the full potential of oled to be apparent
ok, now we need a glossy woled panel and dual mode for 4k 240hz and 2k 360hz , that well make it the ultimate
please release a guide for this monitor OSD settings, color profiles and other things.. thanks for the review, ordered one for myself today.
i never comment basicly because i have nothing to say :D but now i have to greetz you for your wonderfull work !so take my comment bro !
It would be cool to get a table, with all oled matrices, to easily navigate the lineup. For example:
34" 3440x1440 175Hz = Glare QD OLED
26.5" 2560x1440 240Hz = Matt WOLED
26.5” 2560x1440 360Hz = Glare QD OLED
Very interesting that you mentioned the 1 to 1 pixel mapping at 16", it sounds interesting if Asus can fix it.
Can you review some mini led monitors please
4:42 I don't like how QD-OLED warps the text. For example if you look at the M, its right leg appears nearly twice as big as its left leg. I much prefer the blurry text on a WOLED panel.
Btw is there a name for this vertical inconsistency? I've also noticed this in the past on other monitors.
I agree, i prefer the WOLED text clarity.
You will literally just see white instead of detail like on the Giga.
nice review!!!!! congrats and thanks =D
Personally I would never buy the LG until they are clear the warranty covers burns-in in a public document.
Good to see the Asus does.
Sure, because Asus is known for honoring their warranty 😂 They can write 5 years warranty on that box for all it matters. Good luck
I am actually getting rid of the monitor due to this.
nice review does the subpixel layout make pc and ps5 games blurrier or is it just desktop - thanks
When do we get 5k? 240hz? or maybe a 8k by 5k ultrawide? i would gladly pay early adopter fee if it provided high quality to go along with the high price!
There is no PC that could run 240 frames at 8K lmao
please review some of the INNOCN mini-LED monitors. They look interesting.
Have they not got the coatings the wrong way around?
What I mean is that, QD Oled reflects a purple colour, so, would that not be better to have a Matt finish to reduce this rather than glossy, and the WOled reflects black, so, could support a glossy screen better?
should we expect review on new Samsung oleds?
I am very intrested Gigabyte's new Oled model FO32 inch. Finally i can actually consider buying, even tho it's still really expensive. I was just completely priced out from oleds
Any plans to review any of the KTC brand monitors flooding Amazon right now? Their price makes them very attractive.
The lack of SPDIF output support (for consoles) on the LG 32GS95UE was a deal breaker for me.
Do you think they will drop a glossy version of this by the end of the year? That would be big seller.
I wish but probably not
Have u tried one ot the matte WOLEDs? I have both types of WOLED here and prefer the matte one...
@@nKrandom I can’t with the coating grain on matte. It’s way too distracting. Also I prefer QD OLED panels
@@Cubs0209 sure. If u want burn-in get a QD-OLED. 🤗
@@nKrandom I have a WOLED tv which is glossy and a QDOLED monitor so Ive been spoiled by glossy. But that being said Ive never actually seen the WOLED matte in person. It could grow on me. I gotta see if the best buy near me has it on display to check it out.
If you could make a video about OLED monitors that are affordable or just give us an update, that would be nice :)
lmfao I game at 4k all the time regardless
I just turn it off when I step away for longer than like a minute.
micro center already have two of these returned, and it seems like the other one that came out a few months ago is the most returned brand in oled monitor.
interesting ill hold off purchasing until i figure out whts wrong
Still here trying to make a decision lol. LGs big price cut is awesome. Currently making the monitor $1k.
I really wish all WOLED monitors were tuned as well as the XG27AQDMG
The cross hair absolutely doesn't need to be AI lol. I did it with 5 lines of code in the past
@@laggmonstretai doesn't mean sentience.
@@pedro.alcatra Depends on the approach, you claim you did it in like 5 lines of code, but if the approach and subsequently the result are different you can't claim it to be the same. I can make an Ai crosshair complex AF and I can make one in a few lines of code.
Im good with my lg, I can’t fuck with that stand or the annoying rgb lighting, one thing is to have it on the back where it’s barely visible and another is having it all in your face
I ended up getting the Samsung g80sd 32. I do love the TV capabilities the only problem with it is an intermittently black screen that forces me to turn off Windows HDR and back on then it works fine. WIN ALT B does this quick. Hopefully Samsung will figure it out in a future firmware update. I would have loved to try this Asus monitor.
"Practice mode" could be useful for people who have never played a MOBA, but get sucked into MOBAs that make use of FPS game characters to draw in new players, or for younger players.
Is a matte finish much worse than glossy if the room is dark?
It’s not much worse, basically glossy looks better than matte but it’s not a huge difference. Matte is just focused on if you game in bright areas. But it’s not a huge difference like I said so it shouldn’t be a deal breaker
Why not a woled glossy option????? WHY???
So Basically
1) Very Close feature set almost (Indiscernible Differences) (This Asus Panel wins based on 3 years off warranty)
2) I think I'm waiting till any sort of discount comes out, before I pull the trigger
It is ASUS though, so your warranty expires as soon as they take your money
it is amazing that even 0.23 ms GTG can cause blurriness.
1440p 480hz waiting room
The great price on the MSI QD doesn't matter, as it's never actually in stock.
Still no review of the 32 inch Samsung Odyssey OLED G8? It seems that since it is the only matte screen QD-OLED that it might have been something different to review.
Patience, it'll come
Waste of time reviewing it, send it into the trash where it belongs.
A 4K OLED display with a matte coating is a spectacularly dumb idea. What's the point of running 4K and bottlenecking the clarity with a haze/grain/blur filter on top of it.
@@Solus793
So you have it and are making these points based on personal experience?
@@Solus793 Because there are people that work/live in a room that has some actual sunlight instead of a dark basement with no windows.
i have g6 oled and destroys my TN VA IPS panels from past.. in motion clarity I can read blurbuster normal i see all lines from Blur busters by my eyes... Like is copy past :D It is not like he makes a video picture and u see how it looks no, it looks more clear with eyes. It has VRR control it means 0 flickers with VRR on very little input lag u get with vrr on and control on. My g7 had with Vrr ON And control VRR on 17msec.. with hdr... And in day you can use it normal there is no lights on monitor and Keyboard and pc is rgb no seeing lights from rgb on screen or anything. matte its more matter than my G7 it looks really black at day.
People say the matte finish on this is really bad. Can you comment on it?
Wish something like this was available in 27". 🥺
LG will be releasing a 27 inch 480hz monitor later this year.
@@QLMTAThat will be 1440p though right? If the person was looking for 4K 27 inch OLED monitor.
@@Simon_Denmark there are plenty of 1440p already in OLED. But I also heard that 4K OLED high refresh rate 27" is indeed coming up soon.
Didn't knew it was THAT soon. 🤩
@@Simon_Denmark Yeah the 480hzare 1440p, smaller 4K oleds are on the 2025 roadmap.
@@Simon_Denmark I unfortunatly have a 27" 4K monitor and believe me: 32" 4K is way better and the sweet spot for this pixel density... I really regret not trying out before ordering...
but is asus warrenty good enough?
You skipped over in little detail the most important difference between the ASUS and LG model imo which is the duel mode for competitive gaming.
How easy is it to switch, what options do you have, how easily is it to have a work machine vs gaming machine setup etc.
When you're comparing the brightness to the qd-oled version of this monitor, which mode did you have the qd-oled set to? You don't have that listed which could be misleading.
Shitsus has a habit of "AI" marketing since early 2000s, I had their A8N SLI deluxe motherboard which has "AI" branding slapped on box prominently.
Can you test any portable monitor options for gaming ?
I see you've included your FO27Q3 scores on the list, but no review on it yet. Patreon?
