Hey everyone! It has been almost half a year since I originally released this video. I just want to say thanks for all of the support. Also, the information about how often we gain UPT is slowly becoming outdated here towards the end of 2021 as many sites are starting to pick up the new UPT Pilot where we gain UPT each shift. I’d highly recommend checking out newer videos after this one as yes this one still holds true, but with how quickly everything changes at Amazon, it is getting more and more outdated. Thank you! FAQ: Q: What is water-spider? A: The definition of a water spider depends on department because a lot of departments have water spiders but for my specific department (inbound, stow) water spiders spend their day pallet jacking pallets around and feeding the work from those pallets to the stowers. It also includes throwing away the stower’s boxes and putting their used totes in the right place. It is probably the most active position in the FC that will lead to the best workout and most steps of anyone in the facility
Water spider in outbound shipping is the most walking in the whole facility. You are wrapping giant pallets and then putting the shipping labels on and move it to its spot. You can also be a water spider by moving the smaller packages pallets to their spot. You have to make the cardboard boxes and make them active too. There is also CPT who put the containers on the actual truck.
Wow thanks for the tips!!! This is my first week at Amazon !!!I was so worried about the rate thing and I was thinking on not showing up anymore ,cause I think I'm doing as faster as I can (stowing )
Yeah I feel you on that one, meeting rate is hard a lot of the time. Just keep at your own pace but don’t go slow or slack off or you’ll definitely get talked to by someone
I've been with amazon for 3 days now and every second of those 3 shifts I just wanted to walk out. I need to lose a few pounds so I'll stay at amazon until then, getting paid to workout is the only benefit.
They need workers... they will try to push you but at the end of the day they won't dare to fire anyone based on performance, as he said, don't be lazy, but don't kill yourself, work at your own pace.
Being 6 months at ship dock I absolutely agree with not overworking yourself and just be average. If you do too well they will give you the tougher roles constantly.
I just work how I work, dont over do it. Hold yourself accountable, and if you get fired it's ok. At least you didn't cheat yourself. They won't come at you if you're reasonable.
@Brian Kory it's the least stressful job ever. It's like being a dishwasher, you can afford to be sloppy, throw your earbuds in, you don't have to talk or answer to anyone. Just grab a scanner and go. they just cut you loose in a million square foot warehouse. My only advice is : don't overdo your breaks. If there's one thing they get sad about, it's time off task. Just keep moving, at a reasonable pace, clock out and nobody will even know you were there.
@@DELL.ACNT. This has to be the best quote ever, so different from anything were taught growing up lol "Just keep moving, at a reasonable pace, clock out and nobody will even know you were there."
Shoot for average! Love it! I just applied and have my orientation on this coming Saturday! Amazon will be my 2nd job so working alone with my own thoughts will be awesome. This is about goals. Great advice.
I am soooo glad I found this video !! I am a newbie there I just joined amazon a couple days ago and it takes some time getting used to. I was so surprised how short training was and I felt like the videos given to me from their training like I wish I had more time practicing and memorizing. But mostly guys, ask. Alooooot. Of. Questions. From everyone around you. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. A lot of the times I was stuck and it felt like everyone was competing w each other and so I felt this pressure to do better but no. Everyone is in it the same. All we want to do is get the job done get your salary and move on. Or for some it could be a lifetime job. Just one last thing, apply for amazon knowing that you do aloooot of physical and mental work (mostly physical). For the most part good luck to y’all ✨
Water-spider in my building is one of the easiest jobs you can get, you basically wait around in a lane and wrap pallets and “close pallets”, move the completed pallets and move them to a designated area. Then just wait for more pallets to get to their maximum hight.
I worked at a UPS warehouse and from experience just do what your paid for and don’t pick up for others on your shift your being paid for a one person job not two or three
I work in MDW7 ..Amazon is really easy as long as ur not being lazy and just do what u gotta do ull be fine ...u don't have to impress no one so honestly u don't have to overwork urself or go beyond ur call of duty
I'm getting ready to start my 3rd week at Amazon and I have no problem hitting 220 pieces an HR with a tak time of around 11 sec. It's not as hard as people say. You are right you do get a majority of bigs. Just keep a few toats of smalls to feed the small bins a few pieces and you'll be good.
I struggle a lot with the rates. If I’m picking I’m able to do much better but yeah I’m pretty much always missing the rates in stow, I swear I get like 90% mediums and 10% smalls and it makes it soooo hard to meet the rates. When I get smalls the rates are easy to reach though, but again, I pretty much never do lol
Where I work most of the bins are packed, therefore it is difficult to stow. I am able to stay in the middle of the pack and other days I am ahead of the pack. It depends on the freight. I used to do ICQA. Now I do stow, pack and infrequently water spider and transport. Great tip is to be careful with that UPT. PTO is a toss up. I use PTO here and there. It is easy to put a vacation request in 24 to 48 hours in advance during non restricted dates.
My issue is, I have no idea how many pieces I'm stowing, I try to work as fast as possible, but it would be nice if the PDA computers they give us, would show how many packages I'm scanning, plus that 11 seconds only applies to small packages, it don't mean shit when your have oversize boxes 40-60 pounds back and fourth, plus sometimes you have to go get water, so you don't pass out, I'm not working myself to passes out, I will walk off and get my water, when I get my paycheck I will get a nice clear bottle of water with a clip on.
@@TSBilliards86 got hired last week and they said by day 4 we should be at 275 and I was hitting 300-325 and I was moving as fast as I could for the most part. I just don't see how a person could hit 400 consistently seems unrealistic and unreasonable.
You know, I so appreciate this video. I watched another one of your videos regarding working for/at amazon, and I can't begin to tell you that I feel every word your saying. I'll leave it at that. I thank you kindly for telling it like it really is at Amazon. PS. I feel you on the don't work so hard, I've over-worked myself, and had to get the BLANK out of there. I returned, with a new attitude, not a lazy one, but a new one. And, my health comes first. I'm super glad that I ran across this/your video, I feel encouraged. You dislike water-spidering, and I despise picking, I don't use the word Hate, however, I hate Picking with a Super Passion. Thanks again for this video, rather inspiring. I Will be on the lookout for more messages/videos from you. Thanks.....God bless & be well.
I’m glad we could relate and even more glad that you enjoyed the content! I will have more Amazon videos coming in the future so I hope you’ve subbed and that we can talk more in the comments on those future videos! Thank you so much for watching!
Takt time is Deff something they go crazy over. I was at a 9.65 the other day and one of the PA’s came over to me and told me to keep working on my time. Sometimes it’s hard when you have constant tote changes and heavy items back to back. I appreciate that you mentioned that in your video because a lot of times it’s really hard to stay near/under 9
Worked there almost a year, ended up quitting. The benefits were nice, but it wasn’t worth it for the amount of pshyical activity I was doing just to get 1200 every 2 weeks. The fulfillment center I worked on was a recently built one too. Did inbound, outbound, picked, packed, loaded trucks, did everything. But the small 30 mins break, getting yelled at for sitting just for a little, the nagging managers who could care less, ya I didn’t last. Got my real estate license and I make way more then I ever did over there, barely doing psyical activity, and will not be going back to a warehouse ever in my life
Yeah it’s all dependent on your interests! I’m completely fine with warehouse work and I think it’s easy money honestly but people have their own niches. Congrats on that real estate stuff though, how long did it take you to get your license? Thanks for watching the video!
Yeah, I'm also curious about real estate. I just started working at Amazon because I need a steady income. But I don't really know what I want to do with my life. I've thought about real estate, but don't know enough about it.
I am thinking about working at amazon and honestly 1200 every 2 weeks sounds like a dream to me. Like i currently work at my college and the most I get payed during the fall/spring semester is a little over $300.. and right now during summer literally like a little over $100.. it sucks so bad. So i really hope I can get hired. 😭
Yeah Amazon is the best for a college student because of the days off and the time you can spend outside of work working on school stuff! I hope you get the job!!!
Waterspider was only enjoyable when working in an Air facility dragging around the ULDs and getting them ready outside to transfer to the vehicle that loads the planes.
Start this Thursday night at 1:20am as a picker looking forward to it been sitting at home for quite some time cause of covid so i'm pumped to put some hard work in.
Thanks bro. It's about to be my 7th week as a picker and I've been stressing more about getting my tak time no higher than 7.5. But it's true they care more about the quality than anything and your safety
I'm working at a sort center in Colorado Springs (COS5). Our shifts are 4 hour shifts (usually flexed up an hour). We have to wear Safety Shoes, but Amazon gave us a $110 stipend to use at Zappos. Another tip for the "lazy people" wanting time off, take VTO. It's usually available for every shift except the busy season. For me, the worst job is working the Non Con line. It's nothing but non stop chaos trying to keep up with the flow and neatly stacking packages on pallets. The job itself isn't complicated at all and if I can do it at age 56, ANYONE can do it.
4 or 5 hours would be great they have us at 10 or 11 and a half and I can barely move by the end. Just finished my first day and could barely walk my dog around the block. I thought the longer days but 3 days off would be great but it is extremely hard. If you're not used to moving 10+ hours a day it is a shock to the system
Manager here, in my personal experience, not all of this applies to every site, but generally speaking it holds true. The stuff about your time off is super true. Save that time for when you really need it. But the water spider stuff could be different at another site. For example, my site’s waterspiders love it and everyone is dying to do it. Also, Depending on how high performing the site is, having a high takt time or low rate could end up resulting in a write up much more easily than at an underperforming site. There really isn’t a way to know until you’re in it. If your site is pushing quality rather than productivity, you actually could end up being encouraged to slow down in order to prevent errors.
I’ve been working at Amazon for about a week now and the work is pretty simple but the Facility I work at just needs more people and needs to be a little more Organized,But over all good experience.
Shit I'm going on my 2nd year here at amazon EWR4 and let me tell you!! I've done it all here in order to mentally survive started as a stower, then water spider, case picking, AGV machine, forklifting, problem solving, if you do the same shit everyday you'll go crazyyyyy is a general tip tho lOl i like switching it up from time to time doing different task here cause GOD DAMN!!!
Same tho 😅 I'm a learning ambassador, I also each/pallet receive, stow, problem solve, and do ship dock so that keeps it a little more interesting. They were gonna teach me pick and only trained me halfway 😆
Just complete my first week, I really hope they don't put me on the conveyer belts, I like Picking, picking up the heavy bags and boxes then putting them on carts then pushing or pulling them to back of the warehouse to the drivers location, then repeating the same steps over and over, it really makes the time goes by really fast, plus your getting a big workout, I don't like doing stowing, scanning and putting the packages and boxes in the bags, it gets really boring but no one bothers me as long as I'm moving fast.
Same!! I have him (and Bulma) tattooed on my arm lol, you can see it in this video! ua-cam.com/video/u7o_tbdlRKA/v-deo.html but thank you for watching!!!
I start my second week today and our orientation was apparently a different method. We sat in a class for the whole 10 hours and it was honestly such a waste of time and when we did the tour, most of us didn’t even get to see our stations since stow is on the above floors and they couldn’t take us there. It was a fun free day, but that was it lol. I heard my manager yelling and I’m just now anxious about him possibly yelling at me. It’s a trigger and I just don’t have the time for it so I’m like oh boy
I hear mostly it's the management that makes it stressful and the standing for the most part. Standing I'm used to, I've worked two warehouse jobs at once sometimes 16hr days so that doesn't bother me BUT u are wearing steel toe shoes which makes it different and as far as management it's a way to talk to and treat people and I'm the one to walk out before u fire me if u come off nasty.
Thank you for watching man! I have other Amazon videos available as well, and I’m gonna be creating a lot more over the next few weeks, so subscribe if you want more content similar to this + tips for new employees!
I just started at a warehouse last week. I hate being on my feet as much but I listen to music to help take the stress off. I had more demanding jobs so I know to never work too hard for someone’s business 😭💀 I wish I had this video when I first started
@@C11 At the location where I work they let people play music openly, but NOT via ear buds or headphones. They sometimes even play music over the PA system.
Bottom line. Don't expect these people to care about you. It's all about numbers. I made the mistake of blazing through all the positions they put me at. I was always in the top of the board and they kept pushing me to go faster and faster until I just couldn't go anymore. My body wore down got walking pneumonia and they let me go. They don't give a shit lol. And if you get let go don't worry about it. It's just Amazon. Onto the next best thing. That last tip was on point though. They always asked me to water spider or float and help everyone out, I was in Re-bin (Which was my favorite) and they basically just use you up if you say yes to everything.
Man that sounds like a tragedy, but yeah they’ll have you do anything if you say yes. I finally had to stop and now they never ask me for anything. I’m completely fine stowing hard all day but I can’t stand water spider and shipping dock. Wears me out significantly more for the same paycheck.
I like water spider better than stow. The 2 worst things of water spider are when stowers get mad at you for things out of your control and also the feet pain.
The feet pain could probably be helped with more comfortable shoes, I never have that problem. Stowers being mad about things out of your control is really annoying though
Water spider is essentially refilling all of the work for stowers and cleaning up the cardboard boxes after stowers. You spend most of the day operating pallet jacks, lifting boxes constantly, & pushing large cardboard containers called “gaylords” that are filled with all of the smaller cardboard boxes stowers finished using. Problem solve is exactly what it says, they solve problems. Sometimes items come in unscannable, missing, damaged, or with the labels missing; problem solvers are there to fix that. They walk around with a laptop on a cart and solve problems all day
I use to put them in they place and tell them to drop what you doing right now and try to water spider better than me and then we can talk.....they usually shut up after that
First tip was a lie in my case. I got fired for having a 99.99 pick rate lol. Was supposed to have 100. Even the guy that fires me was like what...? That’s weird, he was like you should fight it and say you need a re-evaluation. I walked out, didn’t like feeling overly tired every week
That’s garbage, what was the point of even hiring you? Some locations are BAD. They only recommend you to get 80% at my FC, I can’t imagine being fired for 99.99%
I feel they should focus on worker's productive output than tot time I like to take longer breaks because when I rest longer, I'm actually faster, more productive, especially near the end of shift.
Tact TIME is dumb. Cuz when you go on your 15 minute break you don't sign out. Your tact time jumps to 25+. You likely be at 17-20 for the rest of the night
I am about to start as a seasonal sortation associate, so I appreciate you making this video. I will definitely be shooting to be average and I will not kill myself over this.
Update: I am still at the sortation center and I am doing great. Work is pretty easy and co-workers/managers are cool. I consistently rank #1 for my position even though I don't really work that hard. I definitely plan on staying here for the foreseeable future.
The thing about negative UPT: (I don’t know if it depends on the fulfillment center) if you have vacation hours, they’ll take some time out of that to bring your negative UPT to zero.
Also...respect the Water spiders that load your belt, if you don't they will remember you and talk amongst themselves and you will regret it. They will give you large items and purposefully do all that they can to slow your production rates down! Don't complain, don't give them any shit and don't even look at them. Even if they're particularly nasty towards you or almost take your finger off by sliding down your totes aggressively. It's not a good time. They're just pissed cause they don't want to Water-spider/
I used to work at DEN3 in Thornton, CO. I didn't last long because my feet absolutely killed me eventually I was so close to passing out from the pain I had in my feet.
Don't let anyone know if you have your medical Marijuana card. I'm suspended because of some overstepping grown child thinks he knows state law and said I was under the influence when I wasn't on the clock and I'm suspended now .
I appreciate this video because I been looking up videos for something like this and its always negative stuff I start next week and this was very helpful Thank you so much!!!
Both my step-dad and mom work/worked in a Macy's warehouse, both have said people there get rewarded for a good job and basically treated like they're in school again.
Another thing I wish I would have known is that the mandatory breaks count against your UPH. So you'll do 380 UPH, and find out it's actually like 340 or some crap. Unless it's some bs that they make up to make you go faster, lol
@@ghstbird3338 well the computer tracks the hell out of everybody and the computer punishes you by making you go someother place to look for a package...its like punishment pleasuere so you dont go to the bathroom too often.
@BeetsbyDwight It's not made up. It's was stated in one of the training videos I was shown at my work station by a PA via an iPad. Also, your break time is calculated from scan to scan. So if you leave your workstation 5 minutes after your last scan, you already used 5 minutes of your break time. If you do not scan another item until 5 minutes after you return to your workstation, you have extended your break by 5 minutes.
_Just completed my first week, and was told Prime week starts next week and I got an email that we will have to come into work at 1AM, 10+ hours days for the next 7 days, I hope I survive, I think I will reward myself with a PS4, when I get that first Big paycheck._
@BeGentleSenpai No some dumbass lady was talking to my dad then at the end of their convo she says she has covid then my whole family had it, I'm recovering now doe I can can survive the whole shift now
In the state of California, they can't write u up if you don't meet your quota. Amazon got sued a couple of years ago because too many employees lost their jobs for not reaching their quotas. They don't want us to know that, a manager told me cuz I was working so fast when I came back and in fear of losing my job if i was not super fast. Anyway, I am here cuz I am getting burnt tf out of my job. Yes, it's easy, but the same thing over and over is like I am losing my mind and my body is tired.
I was at an FC for a while, and I *never* Water Spidered ...except for one day when, during Prime Week, they pulled me OFF AFE Induct- try as I might, I *could not* get my rate ANYWHERE NEAR fucking 1200 UPH (wtf? 1200... good lord), esp. given the fact that my arms were still a bit sore from 2 previous days' straight of inducting (not to mention that the gloves, in all honesty, don't really help, oftentimes, imo). The 3rd day that week (3rd day inducting ever), after JUST TWO HOURS of inducting, they pulled me off. And that was when my water-spidering nightmare began. From about 9-12:55 or so, I basically replaced a shit-ton of empty boxes in the various spots for each packer's table. HATED IT Plus... to be quite honest, the guy training me was NEUROTIC as all hell. Like, instead of just filling it up w/ plenty of boxes but not TOO TIGHTLY, he kept pushing me to OVERFILL IT AND MAKE THE BOXES TIGHT. I'm thinking, "WHY?? It's just a few boxes more, and it inconveniences the packers! Goddamn..." Needless to say, after almost 2 months during that 'stint' at Amazon, I left and quit after break was over. Said "fuck it". Realized what a mistake I had made transferring to Sort Flow, and, for a while, my ONLY TWO options would be either to Water Spider again or Induct again, neither of which was remotely appealing or even tolerable I mean, I would've liked to at least TRY rebin, but... I probably would've had to wait at least a month or so before even getting the option. Def. *did not* wanna pack, though ...only to come back in January, as a picker. Then transferred back to Dock. Luckily, Dock's a lot more laid-back (usually), but palletizing is BORING AF. Branched-out, though, my 3rd time at Amazon, to induct (way better than AFE's, by far), did more fluid loading and learned Trans. ...then I made the stupid mistake of transferring to the RT shift on Dock. *sigh* because that shift had way less people, I was pretty-much 'stuck' doing NOTHING BUT PALLETIZING. I really-wanted to try to transfer to Count ...but, tbh, after the last week of May, I realized, "I can't fucking do this anymore!" Even 3 12's of nothing-but-palletizing is so mentally and physically draining, even w/ a fair amount of caffeine and painkiller Not to mention that people on RT shift ARE EVEN WORSE at palletizing than the 10-hour front-half! Jfc Needless to say, I never did or asked or got asked to do WS in Dock. fuck that
Idk what people complain about it’s the easiest job and yes I was nervous my first day but a month in and I’m straight I’ve already done multiple different jobs inside my Amazon facility and it’s cool it’s just like school u don’t want to go but once u there u just chilln fr
Hello Great video thanks. I am thinking about working at Amazon. I have a few questions. How do you get a hold of your manager while you are working at your post on the floor? Is it easy to find someone if you have a question? Are you allowed to have water/food on the floor with you? If so, is there a close by spot to refill your water bottle? Are there many bathrooms throughout the warehouse that are close to the post you are at (less than a five minute walk so it won't register as TOT or are the restrooms a long walk to get to )? My final question is if there is a bad snow storm or ice storm coming how is Amazon with you calling out if the roads are bad? I'm going to watch your other Amazon videos as well. Thanks.
I'm thinking of quitting a current job to work at Amazon with more physical demands. Reason: I've spent too much time on swing and graveyards that had incentives. I'm tired of moonrises and sunrises are more important now plus weekends off. Previous 20yr job went, this will be 10 years temporary. Not afraid of hard work AND good advice on being AVERAGE.
Hi if you can make a video about pallet building that’ll be helpful. I’ve been at Amazon for 3 months and I still have trouble with building the boxes the correct way
Thanks for information .but yea i learn that when I work other jobs not named. But it really depends on the person. Take time do work right and pay mostly attention and quality . And production comes with it and work safe.
i’m a picker and just started yesterday, my location has robots and sometimes when items come up to me they’re stuck in the cubby bc the box is either too big for it or there are too many items in it and sometimes i can’t fit my fingers in to grip the box and it fucks with my takt time !!! not my first day my takt time was 15 seconds so i think that’s fairly good
@jettcamo oh trust me i do that now. i’ve gotten so much better since my first day (when i made that comment) now i’m a top picker on my floor 😈 yeah theze bitchez iz my sonz ‼️‼️
I started my job at Amazon for 7 months at the first week when I started, I wasn’t too good on rate because I was slowing down not working the average I was expected to do at first I thought I was going to be fired because I was at a lower rate and that’s what my always thoughts were
Inbound Damageland PSer here. Definitely great info for new hires in general. I preach all the same tips you brought up. Most cats don’t wanna listen tho.
Beginning 4/01/2022 All Amazon warehouse employees are required to wear safety shoes or be sent home. Amazon will give employees a discount code to purchase these shoes which essentially makes the shoes free!!
Really? That sucks but it was to be expected. I always thought it was odd they didn't require them before considering how over-cautious they can be. Thanks for the heads up! I got hired and I am going to a new hire event in two days.
thank u for this video. im watchin this preparing myself to go to work in a bit...i frickin hate it.......im crying.....but ur tip on not overworking urself....thankssss
No problem!! Yeah, please don’t overwork yourself! If it’s that bad, just get out of it entirely (if you can) honestly. Also, 2006 account?? Sheesh, an OG on the scene! Lol
I recommend everyone to go part time or better yet flex at amazon . It is definitely not worth working full time for a lousy 250 dollars more a week all the stress and the body aches
@@danegreen629 he said 250 more than the regular paycheck. I think back then they'd pay like 700 a week at 15 dollars/hrs. But as flex or such, I heard you get paid more per hour so it balances out
I work at amazon I’ve been there for about a month and I do pick and they told me that my time should be 9 seconds and I feel like they make you work so fast just to get that time down to 9 seconds and when I work I work at my own pace and make sure the job get done correctly
I’ve never had any issues with feet pain, what shoes do you wear? I’d highly recommend some super comfortable shoes. I have Adidas cloudfoams and they are amazing on the feet and back
If they can measure performance, they can pay for it accordingly. It should be a sliding scale. If you have an excellent score, you should get an excellent paycheck and vice-versa.
I need advice for co workers who act like my supervisors. There was this short girl who tried to get me to do extra stower stuff. I need her out of my face
Google the phrase "why amazon workers rejected unionization". It has been voted down by the workers in some locations. Amazon was paying $15+/hr before the pandemic (in NY) now $18+/hr. Also, you are eligible for all benefits from day 1. Many other employers have a waiting period. The two things that I see that bother people the most is working long hours on your feet, and mandatory overtime -- which can be called at the end of your shift the prior day. A friend of mine told me that he would not vote for a union because on a previous job, he had to pay weekly into a union he was a member of and received little representation.
@@allanpimble7198 apologize no. i know it wasnt you that asked about union..... this is what i wrote to a young blood about time off or taking day off for 1 day just now who just started..... already? ok #1 read your handbook cover to cover....HR is #1 too for info but you will have to be direct and ask...but you need a day off....AthruZ app 2 options...if you have vacation that is time off for paid leave you need to submit it 24hrs in advance but if you want time off and it is unpaid you can you use those hours unpaid time off or upt..... amazon is super easy as long as you have time on the books...example if you just dont feel happy that day...you log on to your atozapp and click on it...and just walk out.....easy....but you just started....dont take any time off for a year and build it up so you can build your time off hours up whether it is unpaid or paid..... your young im guessing save it...make the coin. dont take time off thats for us that are old and we take it because our body is not as strong as you guys...... oh btw.......if you get hurt....oh bye bye...amazon dont care and say bye bye to you.....workers compensation rules do not apply that is why so many want UNION union Union....it wont happen....your only good if you can work...if you get hurt...just know you are useless to them and it is like bye bye..... its a shame but its reality....do i agree...no. its saddening but it is a fact...look around young dumb and full of xxx.......its sad that some say this but when i heard it i realize.... just make money and go...stay healthy and make money and leave them when you reach your objective... its the only advice i can say.....its like in the days when immigrants come to america and everyone wanted to come to america because they saw the lady statue of liberty for hope and will work for nuthin whether they got hurt or not they did whatever that company said....that is what amazon is all about.....make sense?
shoot i wish to get promoted to the recruiting office. the ones that took your picture for the i.d. card and show you to the drug test area....remember that...thats the best job...A.C. cool in the summer. Heat in the winter.
I just started working at amazon like 4 weeks ago and already got my 400 Club Stow Vest they gave me choice of free gifts and they put my face all over the bathrooms and everyone tells me good job but I basically did it for the vest I just take it chill now
I don’t work night shift but if I did I would just make sure to get proper nutrition and load up on any snacks or caffeine that I may need for the shift. I’d imagine after doing it for a couple weeks though your body just gets used to it and you’ll adapt as if it’s just a normal day
Hey everyone! Thank you!

Q: What is water-spider?
I was told waterapider is what I would want because I can’t just stand in one spot

Just grab a scanner and go. they just cut you loose in a million square foot warehouse. My only advice is : don't overdo your breaks. If there's one thing they get sad about, it's time off task.

220 for stow? Pick they require 400. On a good day I can hit 500, but on a bad day 300 is a struggle.
@@TSBilliards86 got hired last week and they said by day 4 we should be at 275 and I was hitting 300-325 and I was moving as fast as I could for the most part. I just don't see how a person could hit 400 consistently seems unrealistic and unreasonable.
Keep your UPT between 40-60 hrs
PTO and Vacation use it when you want to go on vacation not take a day off. Wish for VTO if you want a day off.
Stupid advice
You know, I so appreciate this video. I watched another one of your videos regarding working for/at amazon, and I can't begin to tell you that I feel every word your saying. I'll leave it at that. @@johnk608 yes, pick
That’s crazy cause I plan on getting my license too. Are you an assistant?

@@jakesteed4145 I wondered about that. That was why I went with Sort instead of Fulfillment.

@@C11 what are the pros and con of packaging vs stowing
😳
I like water spider better than stow. The 2 worst things of water spider are when stowers get mad at you for things out of your control and also the feet pain.
The feet pain could probably be helped with more comfortable shoes, I never have that problem. Stowers being mad about things out of your control is really annoying though
What is water spider and problem solving

The thing about negative UPT: (I don’t know if it depends on the fulfillment center) if you have vacation hours, they’ll take some time out of that to bring your negative UPT to zero.
Really? Never been at that point cause i currently have 55 upt. I might have 20 in three weeks because all of this MET though
Also...respect the Water spiders that load your belt, if you don't they will remember you and talk amongst themselves and you will regret it.

Thanks for the heads up.
I’ll be interviewing with Amazon today!
I don’t think you need a interview for Amazon warehouse
I was at an FC for a while, and I *never* Water Spidered
...except for one day when, during Prime Week, they pulled me OFF AFE Induct- try as I might, I *could not* get my rate ANYWHERE NEAR fucking 1200 UPH (wtf? 1200... good lord), esp. given the fact that my arms were still a bit sore from 2 previous days' straight of inducting (not to mention that the gloves, in all honesty, don't really help, oftentimes, imo).
HATED IT
Plus... to be quite honest, the guy training me was NEUROTIC as all hell. Goddamn..."
Needless to say, after almost 2 months during that 'stint' at Amazon, I left and quit after break was over. Said "fuck it". Realized what a mistake I had made transferring to Sort Flow, and, for a while, my ONLY TWO options would be either to Water Spider again
or Induct again, neither of which was remotely appealing or even tolerable
I mean, I would've liked to at least TRY rebin, but... I probably would've had to wait at least a month or so before even getting the option. Def. *did not* wanna pack, though
...only to come back in January, as a picker.
I really-wanted to try to transfer to Count
...but, tbh, after the last week of May, I realized, "I can't fucking do this anymore!" Even 3 12's of nothing-but-palletizing is so mentally and physically draining, even w/ a fair amount of caffeine and painkiller
Not to mention that people on RT shift ARE EVEN WORSE at palletizing than the 10-hour front-half! Jfc
Needless to say, I never did or asked or got asked to do WS in Dock. fuck that
Idk what people complain about it’s the easiest job and yes I was nervous my first day but a month in and I’m straight I’ve already done multiple different jobs inside my Amazon facility and it’s cool it’s just like school u don’t want to go but once u there u just chilln fr

Thanks.
Danger Will Robertson! Stay away!
I’ve been at Amazon for 3 months and I still have trouble with building the boxes the correct way
Great video. I started today at the Nampa Idaho location.
Might as well make a survival guide for camping in chernobyl.
Or Fukushima japan
Thanks for information .but yea i learn that when I work other jobs not named. But it really depends on the person. Take time do work right and pay mostly attention and quality . And production comes with it and work safe.
i’m a picker and just started yesterday, my location has robots and sometimes when items come up to me they’re stuck in the cubby bc the box is either too big for it or there are too many items in it and sometimes i can’t fit my fingers in to grip the box and it fucks with my takt time !!! not my first day my takt time was 15 seconds so i think that’s fairly good
Yep that’ll happen all the time unfortunately! It kills rates
I learned a trick from my manger that when that happens just log out and the machine we’ll leave 😂
Be a packet it’s easier
@jettcamo oh trust me i do that now. i’ve gotten so much better since my first day (when i made that comment) now i’m a top picker on my floor 😈 yeah theze bitchez iz my sonz ‼️‼️
@@leslyluna1521 Smart
I appreciate the video but you cant say were fine when every managment and location is different
how can you go on your own pace if Amazon needs you to work fast tho
in my area nashville area me being disabled my pace is not fast but im working on the sorting area.
My last day is Saturday and I got hired a month ago, the checks were cool at Amazon but I’m done I didn’t like it tbh it was super easy tho.
When it comes to time off i dont touch UPT or Vacation. Ill use PTO to leave early or if im a hour late but i dont miss whole days
10 hr shift with 2 breaks wtf!! Back in the day you got 2 breaks and a lunch in 8hrs...at any job...waterspider??
I’ve been working for 5 years lol it’s crazy I alreaddd know what it is it’s still stressful
thank u for this video. im watchin this preparing myself to go to work in a bit...i frickin hate it.......im crying.....but ur tip on not overworking urself....thankssss
No problem!! Yeah, please don’t overwork yourself! If it’s that bad, just get out of it entirely (if you can) honestly. Also, 2006 account?? Sheesh, an OG on the scene! Lol
@@C11 lol. its kinda bad. im here now. sometimes i forget how much i enjoy it lol but the pain my body goes thru after....
I recommend everyone to go part time or better yet flex at amazon . It is definitely not worth working full time for a lousy 250 dollars more a week all the stress and the body aches
That’s crazy in the UK here you get £400 a week
4 days on then 3 days off
@@danegreen629 he said 250 more than the regular paycheck. I think back then they'd pay like 700 a week at 15 dollars/hrs. But as flex or such, I heard you get paid more per hour so it balances out
@@danegreen629now they pay 20/hr
I work at amazon I’ve been there for about a month and I do pick and they told me that my time should be 9 seconds and I feel like they make you work so fast just to get that time down to 9 seconds and when I work I work at my own pace and make sure the job get done correctly
I honestly don’t care about it being boring my feet just fucking hurt
I’ve never had any issues with feet pain, what shoes do you wear? I’d highly recommend some super comfortable shoes. I have Adidas cloudfoams and they are amazing on the feet and back
@Madix Gabriel Amazon gives you a shoe allowance at Zapos every year. I just started with them recently, and was given a $110 credit with Zapos.
If they can measure performance, they can pay for it accordingly. It should be a sliding scale. If you have an excellent score, you should get an excellent paycheck and vice-versa.
Not a bad idea at all
How can u check about your 5% since u said don't go under 5%
You can ask one of your managers and/or they hand out papers to show everyone’s rate throughout the day
As someone who could myself on the wrong end of a company merger this could all change.
I'm stuck stacking boxes into carts 😖 I hate it I wanna go to hazmat
same :/
I need advice for co workers who act like my supervisors. There was this short girl who tried to get me to do extra stower stuff. I need her out of my face
Was she a PA or something?
@@C11 nope. Straight up the same position as me
Just ignore her, that’s random and idk why she would be asking you to do stuff if she isn’t in a higher up position lol
@@C11 I’m just annoyed if she goes to an actual higher up and demands I do extra work
we must work hard its the truth but the money is good at the end of the day
... and the benefits! $100 for being vaccinated prior to being hired, $500 sign-on bonus, free shoes from Zapos.
FYI the worst packages are cat litter and water bottles 😂you get so sick of them
DON'T FORGET THE DOG FOOD!!!
Sounds rough. Y’all need to unionize 💪
Can't think of it like Walmart 😕
Google the phrase "why amazon workers rejected unionization". It has been voted down by the workers in some locations. Amazon was paying $15+/hr before the pandemic (in NY) now $18+/hr. Also, you are eligible for all benefits from day 1. Many other employers have a waiting period. The two things that I see that bother people the most is working long hours on your feet, and mandatory overtime -- which can be called at the end of your shift the prior day. A friend of mine told me that he would not vote for a union because on a previous job, he had to pay weekly into a union he was a member of and received little representation.
@@allanpimble7198 union days are over
@@nekoneko8378 Did you mean to reply to me? I did not ask about unions. I replied to someone who did.
@@allanpimble7198 apologize no. i know it wasnt you that asked about union.....
this is what i wrote to a young blood about time off or taking day off for 1 day just now who just started.....
already? ok #1 read your handbook cover to cover....HR is #1 too for info but you will have to be direct and ask...but you need a day off....AthruZ app
2 options...if you have vacation that is time off for paid leave you need to submit it 24hrs in advance but if you want time off and it is unpaid you can you use those hours unpaid time off or upt.....
amazon is super easy as long as you have time on the books...example if you just dont feel happy that day...you log on to your atozapp and click on it...and just walk out.....easy....but you just started....dont take any time off for a year and build it up so you can build your time off hours up whether it is unpaid or paid.....
your young im guessing save it...make the coin. dont take time off thats for us that are old and we take it because our body is not as strong as you guys......
oh btw.......if you get hurt....oh bye bye...amazon dont care and say bye bye to you.....workers compensation rules do not apply that is why so many want UNION union Union....it wont happen....your only good if you can work...if you get hurt...just know you are useless to them and it is like bye bye.....
its a shame but its reality....do i agree...no.
its saddening but it is a fact...look around young dumb and full of xxx.......its sad that some say this but when i heard it i realize....
just make money and go...stay healthy and make money and leave them when you reach your objective...
its the only advice i can say.....its like in the days when immigrants come to america and everyone wanted to come to america because they saw the lady statue of liberty for hope and will work for nuthin whether they got hurt or not they did whatever that company said....that is what amazon is all about.....make sense?
Thank you this will help on my 1 day night shift
You’re welcome!
How do the work hours work?
funny enough, stowing is one of the worst jobs in my building but water spider and docks are 2 of the easiest. no cap.
Dang, Let me transfer to your warehouse cus I actually like waterspider so I can avoid the TOT 😂😂
shoot i wish to get promoted to the recruiting office. the ones that took your picture for the i.d. card and show you to the drug test area....remember that...thats the best job...A.C. cool in the summer. Heat in the winter.
Oh yeaa.. how do you get promoted to those jobs tho.. because they look easy asf
you don't want TOT get transferred to the Ship Dock. lol
Dude.. these comments.. they'd be fit for a union and pencil pushing.. smh 😂
are you allowed to have ur phone on your person?
Yep! At first no, but they changed the ruling earlier this year.
I just started working at amazon like 4 weeks ago and already got my 400 Club Stow Vest they gave me choice of free gifts and they put my face all over the bathrooms and everyone tells me good job but I basically did it for the vest I just take it chill now
They drug test you?
@@jadayeliabtv1948 huh for what?
I have vacation scheduled prior to starting how do I let them know?
How do you stay awake and alert at night
I don’t work night shift but if I did I would just make sure to get proper nutrition and load up on any snacks or caffeine that I may need for the shift. I’d imagine after doing it for a couple weeks though your body just gets used to it and you’ll adapt as if it’s just a normal day
