I start at an AR sortable facility in a few days and one of the things that was really intimidating was the rate, but how you explained it makes way more sense! Thank you.
Been working at Amazon for a couple weeks now I've noticed that about the rate. It's very dependent on what kind of orders you get and if rebin is doing their job right. There's way too many things that affect it that are outside of your control so it's best not to worry about it too much and work at a pace that's comfortable for you.
The one I work at wants 188+. We get written up if we don’t. They expect 2 boxes per minute. They don’t take into consideration the size of the items, technical issues, large quantities. I work AFE at the Carteret NJ warehouse. All they care about is rates.
Mine BOS3 in North Andover wants 3 per minute. I make this rate but don't care anymore. My boss is a nasty person and doesn't even want me using my upt at all. Either switching departments or becoming a dps driver if all goes well and leaving the warehouse.
I have 10 years IT work experience. Got laid off my last job as a Network Engineer for dirty drug test . Feel like an angel that fell from Heaven working at Amazon. My first day was Sunday , second day was today . I work in Packing AFE . This job is easy , just monotonous . I was just sitting For 10 months on my ass watching UA-cam and listening to music at my IT job . If I can do this, most people can . It’s easy . I will be leaving in 2 weeks for another IT job but it’s a cool experience to see warehouse work
They want us at 220. I'm like naw, I've been doing this long enough to know better. I used to hit 250-260 regularly, but like you said, all they do is "good job, try to make 280 next time". Okay. How about no. I regularly hit 200 easy so they don't come around and give me no grief.
The incentive thing is true, it’s not required to give an incentive. However, it also depends on your leadership team as well. I’m an Amazon Process Assisant (PA) and I work in an AFE department. I came up in this department before moving up to a Level 3 position, where I’m at now. Because of that, I understand the consistent pace and effort that goes into sorting (induct/rebin) above 1100/550 & packing above 250. If my associates are going above and beyond hitting exceptional rates on a consistent bases, whether induct, rebin or pack, I like to acknowledge that. With vendor bucks (for free break room snacks), buzz bucks (free amazon gear/gadgets) or even 15 mins added on to their break time. It’s not a pay increase, clearly, but they appreciate it for sure.
I just started yesterday I’m doing overnight and it’s not bad. I like it better than stow but theirs alot more steps to it like replacing the tape and making sure you have enough supplies and also water for the tape machine. Luckily I work with people who are pretty chill so it’s been decent so far! I just wonder how long I’ll be able to keep to doing this though.
yes, as soon as i get to my station i would check all of my supplies (water for tape, 2 rolls of tape, boxes filled, SPOO tape). yes i've worked the night shift during the holidays a few times and it was so much more chill than the day shift. there were times when they would tell me to stop packing and just relax for 30 mins or more because the "wall" was low on items. we're standing around waiting on the rebinner to fill it back up so we can start packing again.
Very helpful video! Could you please do more videos for other positions you have worked in as well? Such as pick, stow, rebin, dock, sort, etc? Love these tips and tutorial series you're making! Keep up the excellent work!
Wow thanks so much for clarifying this for me! I feel so much better. I thought I had to send out 200+ boxes but it’s 200+ items!!! No one ever broke it down like this!!! And the tape tip as well👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 I usually look at the bottom of the box for the alphabet to know what tape I need. One side of the type dispenser is brown tape for Amazon Market place!
Oh man. Thank you so so much. This really helped. Thank God I’m not going to be packing that much boxes per hour. You made me feel so much better. I start work tomorrow and I’m really nervous. Thanks again.
I've worked at AFE for 2.5 yrs now. Rates are variable for us based on size (for pack) and path (for picking). Also, there are scammy ways for some employees to get artificially higher rates (often by being logged into indirect by a supervisor or friend who manages that because you're part of their favorites). I've seen people go sloooooow and make inhumanly high rates and people go fast and make low rates. Amazon bosses will rarely tell you what your rate is supposed to be at because it's variable and no one can track it accurately other than their computer system but, you will be held accountable for making rate. It's not a hard job and once you're used to the physical aspect of it, it's very easy but can be tedious for some. A tip I've learned long ago is to IGNORE RATES. Just get into a nice flow / zone and work smoothly and consistently.
You're not really held to the expected rate. You'll only get a write up if you're the bottom 3% for that path in your building and there's no justification (like dead wall, system outage etc) Whether everyone is under expected or everyone is over expected, the bottom 3% still get the write up. Expected rate is determined to be usually around the site or regional previous 3-week average +10%
Other miscellaneous info: 1) Dildos from China are usually unscannable 2) Sanitizers and Wipes help get stuck on spoo stickers off the counters 3) MASTERPACKS: a) masterpacks may contain a barcode for one unit on the outside of the box, which passes the scanner, and gets packed b) the description for the item cannot be fully seen, so sometimes you end up packing masterpacks 4) After you clock in, there is an IDLE TIME counting against you until you sign into a station. It shows up as a light blue bar in the manager's laptops. That's why it's important to get your I.D. scanned when a higher up takes you somewhere to do something else. The blue bar tells them you are clocked in, somewhere in the building and wasting time doing nothing.
I remember my first week they were trying to rush us so hard for a fast rate but now i don’t give a rats ass about their rates, I’m gonna work at my pace whether they like it or not 🤷♂️
For me it was all about learning your wall, based off what your screen showed, you should know whether to turn left or right depending the section of the wall and up or down depending on which row. As well as how fast you can build a box and pull your items from the chute. Learning the location of all your boxes really help as well. I averaged a rate of 360+. Highest rate I hit was a 476 in AFE. Now I am a Process Assistant for pack side in AFE and I enjoy what I do.
@@Eshabee depends on the situations, if there is no barriers that would stop you from hitting a 200 rate then yes you can get write ups and potentially get fired., But if it’s something that is uncontrollable that’s where we need to bridge onto why rates were so low and how we can fix that by engaging with the Associates. If your Leadership is not helping you on how you can improve your rate then they are the ones failing you.
@@Gonzo1997 if your starting your 1st day in outbound pack - flow, can you chose to do pack instead of rebin or induct? Or will they ask you what you want to do? I know your name will be on a screen but I’m only asking for 1st day.
they typically start new employees in the packing area. after you've been packing for a few weeks they may ask you if you want to learn to do rebin and induct.
I’m a PA too (sort PA) who came up in an AFE department. Never hit a 400+ packing 😭, but I think my highest rate was a 320 something. You were QUICK! 😂🔥 everything you’re saying about knowing the pack wall is facts though. It really helps you hit high rates!
Wow I'm glad I saw this video cause for the past few weeks I've been killing myself trying to make these rates, also, my wall always gets "out of control" like this annoying PA likes to say 😑 😒 one of the ambassador had given me a tip to assemble boxes and be done within 30s.... so I'm always rushing and injuring myself to be done within 30s (I've broken few nails and hurt my fingers for banging it against the wall) 😭 and no matter how fast I worked i was still getting same results, I'll be green for first quarter then by second to last I'll get in yellow because now the sorters are sorting more and I'm on the other side worrying about my walk not getting "outta control"
yes, when you understand how the process work you won't be taken advantage of. many factors for a blown wall, it's not always a "slow packer". matter a fact it's usually due to neglect of a wall (not all packers are at their stations, or no packers at that wall for periods of time). PA can see which walls are full in real time. if any wall is full (blown out) it's always the managements fault...their whole existence at amazon is to manage the process...
Thank you for your kindness and time to explain and help people. You're so calm and makes your explanation about those videos very well to understand. May God continue to bless you and your family 🙏 Thank you again for helping lots of people who watch your videos 🙏 God bless you
Thank you! ❤ this help me! I have an interview tomorrow with Amazon. I think I might want to do packing now. I use to pack at my company job and this is a lot easier
I start in 2 weeks in Single Pack Outbound and this video answered my questions. Thank you for taking the time to make & edit this video for all of us. This alleviated my anxiety about the rate system! Great tips too! So far it looks like I applied for a job that I can do for 10 hours/day.
Interesting your tape machine isn't automatically dispensing the tape according to the box used using the AUTO, and after the SP00 label is scanned. The only time I have to manually dispense is if I had to Problem solve to change a box. But yah, I consider myself a good water-spider, but I love those days when I get to pack. Day goes by fast packing.
At my location, the box sizes have different names than this video. The screen will say something like: D 220. The letter is the width. I think the number is the height. There are no D boxes though, but there will be a E 220 or something. I hit the E button (instead of Auto) to get the right width of tape for the bottom. After scanning the Sp00 sticker, the machine spits out a “D” length tape, which tends to be a little too long. So, I have to be careful it’s applied evenly. I suspect the computers will get reprogrammed eventually though.
There are 2 buttons on the tape dispenser because the right side is supposed to be Amazon branded tape and the left should be brown unbranded tape. Amazon shipments go in branded boxes with branded tape. Marketplace items go in unbranded boxes with unbranded tape.
great tip! when i worked in "single Pack" yes i just pressed the big green button and it gave the correct size tape. in AFE for some reason the tape machine maybe wasn't always programmed. the green button did work for some but not all situations for me.
@@FinanceFaithFamily If the green button doesn't work properly, the cable from the dispenser to the computer has likely disconnected. Push it back in and you're good to go.
I just got fired from Amazon Lgb3 Afe1 for productivity in packing. In my case it don’t make sense because I’m constantly being moved stations. Then sent to Afe2 to help them. So when they let me go I brought that same to them and asked them make that make sense. Tomorrow I do my virtual appeal.
Appreciate the help! I work at a non-amazon ecomm warehouse (we also ship to our retail stores). But for now, I just do ecomm packing. I don't know if we have incentives for packing faster, but our KPI is 40 boxes an hour and I've been hitting 20-30 for my first week, which apparently sucks. So I'm trying to find ways of getting faster and more efficient. In terms of differences, we use a tape gun and we receive all the items in the box, we just have to wrap any glass and bag it and use void fill paper, tape up the box and sticker it, plus hazmat or battery stickers if we need them.
I work in singles and I would love a video in trouble shooting what to do for overage and damage items or missing items etc. I hate hitting the andon but I’ll damn well do it if I’m uncertain. I’ve only been at Amazon for two days and the training at our center was not very thorough it was like learn as you go kind of thing. Thank goodness my second day was a little bit better and informative.
yes, i remember my first 2 days of training. the trainers were horribly lazy. my center was not thorough on training either. Sorry, it's been a while and i forgot what button it was. i think it was problem > missing item and continue to press missing item button until screen clears. you're probably better off asking a "tenured" employee than pressing the andon button. pressing the andon button is like waiting at the DPS. then they ask you why your rate is low, lol.
@@FinanceFaithFamily Thank you for this video very helpful!! I had a couple questions u can help me with plz I'm in pac I started my first week when when there a missing item u press problem
If have problems with package press problem- select whatever problem you have with package- scan problem label( mostly be on problem tote that located at station) place in problem tote and screen with let you continue to pack next item.
I just started pack flow afe. Multi and singles. I'm about 150 items per hr,my last shift was shit cause the conveyer kept stopping and the packages kept piling up,so I only hit 78 items per hour but my station kept being changed aswell and every station I went to was low on supplies. It's shit now cause I can't keep one single station all shift. It's random
@@FinanceFaithFamily I always try to hit my rate of 200...just alot of things get in the way, such as you said and not having enough supplies when you get to your station, water spider nowhere to be found sometimes you have to be your own,I always take what I need from other stations while I wait for water spider to come refill. Some items have multiple bar codes too!! And it's a pain finding the right bar code to scan. This job can suck. Plus your station be random every break,I'm overnight shift currently. I don't ever use the bathroom unless it's break time too. But my center pays 18.50 so i can't complain to much, just do my best and hope the results show
Thanks for this video. I start training tomorrow in London England, if I wasn't broke I'd give you a donation. I've been feeling worried but this video has eased my mind. These videos are helpful.
You need to aim for over 200. Orders do not count until they clear SLAM. If your order kicks out it goes against your rate and doing the bare minimum does not give you any wiggle room. Packing over 200 will keep you safe because you have wiggle room if your order kicks out at SLAM to keep rate.
I’m barely on my 4th day as a packer. I really like the boringness of it besides my feet aching. As a newbie I’m concerned that my rates aren’t high yet but people are right they push you to hit 180-200 but I think it’s a ploy to increase productivity. Regardless I’m sure they’re happy that they’ve got you there killing yourself for the customers and Bezos’ wallet. I like it so far though.
You will probably be fine if you aren’t in the bottom 5 % . You will naturally get better. My facility wants 280 but we are doing great if we make 200.
This may sound like a dumb question, but when you run out of tape or boxes, do you just tell someone or is there a certain area where they have supplies to refill these? I’ve never worked in a warehouse and I’m considering applying for packing.
there's are areas where you can go get supplies like tape, and boxes. Now there are also people who are walk around and replenish supplies too, but you can't rely solely on them. they may be busy, swamped, or just work slow. There's a button you can press to call them to bring supplies to you as well...but sometimes you wait like 5-10 minutes which hurts your rates. so if you run out of supplies before they can get to you, just borrow some from your neighbor until they can replenish you. or if the supplies are close by you can go get it yourself. hope that helps.
@@bmanrandom893 I have never been written up in the year I have working there. They do coach you but never in trouble for it, unless your low because your never at your station.
Do you have a landmark to set your box where the sp00 is always in the same orientation? 1 tip I would add, in making sure boxes are upside down, at least currently the tape guides will also show you-the letter for the tape length is always up for up… so when you build the box bottom side first, you should be seeing letters upside down as you first fold the flaps.
1. just press auto or 1b4 or 1bb tape if the machine is bugged 2. i wear a Short sleeve T shirts every day and im fine. 3. Amazons were im at is a typical 100
I'm currently a packer just made 2 months. I am concerned about making rate. They are saying 200. I'm roughly doing 132. I asked my mgr if there was a happy medium and she said if I do 180 it would be ok. I'm 56 so I don't know if that's a factor as to why I feel I'll never make it. I have 2 more months to make rate before it becomes an issue. I want a more stationary position like Picking but was told that dept is easy to get fired from. I just found out you have to have at least 10 upt hours to transfer and of course be making rate in current dept b4 allowed to transfer. I may start looking for another job soon idk.
1. refill all of your consumables (tape, Sp00, water for tape, and boxes) before you start. 2. know where to restock supplies yourself and don't rely on water spiders 3. know where all of your boxes are located 4. you want to be on the station that's on the outside of the walls. not the middle station. the stations on the left and right of the walls tend to have the most items to pack. stations on the outside of the wall will have more "bulk orders" meaning that some orders that you need to pack may have 10+ items or 20+ items. 5. understand that the rates go by how many items you pack, not how many boxes. example: 1 box requires that you pack 30 books. well that's 30 items! 6. age doesn't matter, it's just about knowing where everything is. perhaps observe one of the "faster" packers and see what technique they use. 7. i've never seen anyone let go for rates (mostly Time off task or attendance) but if they do let you go, then it's just not God's will and a better opportunity may be around the corner. i hope that helps!
I'm quite late on this!! I've recently been watching these packaging videos because I find them satisfying! A lot of the times I would just love to do this job, but I do have some questions. How do you try and make your job at the Amazon Fulfillment fun? How much do you make an hour? Does your amount per hour rely on how many items you pack?
Your pay is hourly and does not have any correlation to how many items you pack. How to make it fun? The job is repetitive and boring many of my co workers were nice and helpful. I snuck in headphones and that made it more fun. Until you get caught
I just quit. My rate was 150 to 170. I got told twice a day after my first two weeks to go faster. I couldn't do what a 5ft 20year old could do. I'm fit and moved constantly all 10hrs. Just got retrained and told to do better. F off
I'm transferring from a delivery station to be a packer at a fulfillment center. I've used the pack machine a million times so I think this will be a nice transition and I look forward to learning new things.
oh you're going to like it. my wife was in delivery station and she did not like it at all. the doors were open, mosquitos, hot and humid, work atmosphere wasn't very good.
The reason for the 2 of the same button is each side can contain a different color/type of tape. They used to use plain brown tape for certain orders and Amazon tape for regular orders. Now they aren't so picky or just changed their standards. Who the heck knows?
Thanks man! There's a amazon warehouse coming to my city and it's already being built! I'm thinking of giving it a try but I was wondering how the quotas worked!!! Now I know! It doesn't seem to bad!!!
I work AFE and singles pack, it all depends on the management and facility. Our facility is apparently, according to management, usually top in North America as far as rates go in afe pack, so they set our goal to 220. It was at 180 when I first started. All I can say is treat it like a marathon, not a sprint. Of course, you could get sent into a different department as well. Honestly though, it's an easy job, the bad thing is the monotony and standing on your feet all day, which you will get used to so no big deal there.
The one I work at they give top packers 15mins break . I said the same thing I’m not bout to over work myself if I’m not getting no more money. They tell us they want us at a certain percentage I think at least 110 or 130 but they never will example how yo rate add up I’m glad I know now
Thank you for sharing. Your videos are straight to the point and very informative. They really helped me. I got a question, I did my drug test today since Im applying full time and they said that my position will be operating forklift. Is there a way I can change the position like I want to be packer or anything that doesn’t require operating machineries? Im kinda scared of heights. Thank you
i havent done it myself but have seen co workers change jobs within the warehouse. you can do it through the amazon a-z app or let your manager know and see if they can do anything for you if a spot opens up.
There is no way. Just came off my day one picking. Got around 60-70 and hr. It's not the walking or job it's the mess. There would be a pen picked in a box of pants stuffed to the point of not coming out I think I had 8 missed item in a few hours. Got to SCAN EVERYTHING in a box to prove to them you aren't a moron. Totally ruins your time. Just going to chill and do my best if I'm fired I'm fired. Even my ambassador is like "not worth killing yourself over your more important"
Hai, I work single smalls. They want us at 215 to 220. What’s the frustrating as I’m always at 180 and 190. I realize what’s holding me back is the SIOC packaging. if I can nail this down, I can easily hit the 200 rate. There are certain items that you can ship out without a box or bag. However, there are certain SIOC items that really need a bag. Can you differentiate what needs to go in bag and what does not? Thanks, B
I have worked in Single pack but it was for medium and large boxes. the SOIC was very easy because the screen would say SOIC and would not require us to package it (as it would be already in a box). now in your example since you are in single smalls, i believe most items go inside bags or cushioned envelopes right? i honestly wouldn't know how single small handles SOIC packages. hopefully someone will see this and help you out. 180+ in singles is fast! many people didn't even get that in Outbound AFE
I work at Amazon DCA1 packing singles...its called SLAM...our rate needs to be 220 minimum...I have been there 2 weeks now and I can't get past 160(on a good day). I don't see how it's possible...I mean it is but not on a regular basis. If everything works out perfect and there's no overage or problems or needing to restock my packing bags/ boxes or fix the 2 label printers yeah than maybe. I work Thursday Friday and Saturdays 630p-7a and its killing me. 12 hours on my feet constantly trying to reach Amazon's rate is stressful, then it doesn't help that the Learning Ambassadors keep coming around Telling me my rate. I honestly bust my butt to the point my back, shoulders, arms, legs, feet.....my entire body is so sore moving like a robot(honestly thinking I've got to have made atleast 200) for them to come around and say "Amber your at 160...lets see if the next hour you can get 180". I'm so worried I'm never going to make rate...and I need this job 😕
It also doesn't help that I'm 38 years old with a not so good back! I had a lumbar laminectomy And discectomy in 2013 and again recently in December of 2020. I honestly didn't think standing packing would effect my back(body) they way it has. Ever since I started working at Amazon doing these 12 hour shifts I'm starting to experience sciatica down my right leg again(which tells me something is wrong) or what I'm hoping is that I'm just not used to being on my feet for so long and doing such physical work. For the last 17 years I've worked in the Medical Field taking care of my patients in their homes. Not much standing or physical activity there🤷🏻♀️
i wouldn't worry too much about rates. I have worked in Single Pack and it can be difficult. just be steady and ask for tips. 150+ is great! if they let you go for those rates then it's just not meant to be. I honestly haven't seen/heard anyone in AFE or Single Pack get fired for rates. Praying everything false into place for you. 🙏🏽
@@amberbarron1216 I work in AFE multi pack and what I learned is If I've done 160 for my rate but if I have anything that was kicked out that of course would lower my rate.
Hey there, not sure if you’re able to answer as this video is a bit old. I’ve been working at an Amazon FC in outbound shipdock for about a month now. When I started I wanted to be a packer, but obviously I can’t choose my department. I’m considering an internal transfer later on, but I’m worried that if I’m transferred to pack - I don’t want to be working in another role such as waterspider/rebin/sorting etc. I want to primarily work in packing orders. How do I guarantee a position with that role? At the beginning of the shift do the PA’s assign everyone different positions or positions they want to put you in (because they want you there or because you’ve worked in something similar before). Please let me know, thanks!
Hey there- Thank you for the video. I am wondering, do they automatically train you in every position? Do you ever get to request to work specifically packing orders? Or do they just put you where they need you? I am interested in applying because the packing position seems ideal for my current situation, but I’m just wondering what the odds are I would actually be packing orders vs doing another job. If that makes sense? Thank you!
i think the online assessment determines where you'll work. that's just my guess. The first time i applied i was in Single Pack (packing 1 item at a time). then i quit and 3-4 months later reapplied and was assigned to a different position. if there are positions available, you'll be able to see the warehouse, but as for the specific job you'll be doing you won't really know until Day 1. If you want to pack packages then apply for the Fulfillment Center warehouse. Warehouse Jobs: Fulfillment Center Associate Sortation Center Associate Delivery Station Associate XL Warehouse Associate Distribution Center Associate Grocery Warehouse Associate Amazon Air Associate hiring.amazon.com/job-opportunities/warehouse-jobs# hope this helps!
the rate are somes changes when you pack singles items per box x) you have to be a bit faster ^^ target in Ory1 (my FC in France) are 127 items per hours for Single, and 80 pack for 220 items per hours for mutli :) easy to reach :D
Depends on if your equipment breaks or you have to stock all your boxes. Also the end caps have all the large boxes it all comes into play while trying to make rate.
Thank you for this video very helpful!! I had a couple questions u can help me with plz I'm in pac I started my first week when when there a missing item u press problem
in AFE, put everything that you scanned/found inside that box. then set the box aside on the floor. the problem solve team will come around and get the box. they will figure out what's wrong with it. don't waste your time taking it to the problem solve area. when you say "damage" what do you mean?
@@FinanceFaithFamily nahhh bro they put in me in shipping dock department.. it's my two weeks now since I started on amazon every break they put me in different position... It's like a war zone in a ship dock department.. but I like it.....
This may sound dumb but there are so many different position names. Would this be a "picker packer" or is it a general warehouse fulfillment center associate? Are those the same thing? This is whats confusing me
This is amazon fulfillment center. the area i have worked in was called SINGLE PACK, and AFE. in single pack, you pack 1 item into 1 box. in AFE, there is an area called Packing and you're packing multiple items in 1 box. regardless, most area's look and process packing similarly
My work is based on accuracy, and performance, they get extra pay through for going faster, everyone around here knows that Amazon base is higher then ours, but all you need to do is go at an average pace and your pay will be higher.
@@FinanceFaithFamily performance and accuracy , based on how fast they go plus accuracy , accuracy is a big account for it as we don’t want people to fly and end up packing out orders wrong , if a customer calls and complains you get dinged . An average person can work at 100% which equates to $1.25 more per hour , it goes up to 200% which is $5.25 more per hour , that’s hard to reach but some can do it’. As long as they reach 85% they can get some extra pay. Supervisors will get the incentive based on the average performance of the team.
Is it true that the scanners are always missing or there’s no available that you have to look for your own to use? Same goes with scanner batteries? If the equipments are not provided properly, then that will affect the employee’s rate....
Now that I’ve seen your video I think I want to go into the part of the branch and if you don’t mind me asking, do you know what they mean by needing to know how to use a (hand truck) I’m was looking on indeed where it talks about the job and all
@@FinanceFaithFamily at the moment all I know is that my turn is "B4-PACK" so I assume I will be doing packing, but tomorrow is the formation day in the warehouse
I was wondering the same thing as everyone about the rates yea is a limit well imma start slow though gotta get used to it cant complain is like everything you just gotta hang of it hope they give a simple rate for starters lol
What about code scio or sico or soci.... Its one off those... I am a packer.... Outbound.... Mixed... And get a lot of those packages... Wondering if I am packaging it correctly. It was my first day yesterday 7 April 2022... I just leave them in the box they come in and pack them in a larger box by overriding the system. I don't open the boxes the item came in just keep them in the box...is this overriding to get a box that fit correct.
SIOC stands for “ships in own container”. SOIC you just scan them and send them on their way! I Think in AFE there was an additional step on the screen but i forgot what it was. you do not need to put it inside another box.
Enjoy your videos im looking to possibly apply and work at Amazon soon. I was wondering tho does it tell you how many packages you packed as you go along? And since you have the items ready for you to be packed, since you rely on the other person does that person have to slow down or is it just all on you to pack at your speed? Thanks again.
great question. rates are typically called out every hour over the intercom system for your area. the managers call out the rates for packers and Inducters. for whatever reason the rebinners have a screen shows their rates every 5 minutes. if you're a packer, the rebinner is on the other side of the wall. in AFE area there are usually 3 packers per wall for every 1 rebinner. if you pack fast and the rebinner can't keep up they may move you to a different wall that is full. they may also change your rebinner to someone faster as well. now in an area called SINGLE PACK, you're packing whatever is on the conveyer belt. the single item will be in a yellow tote. there is no rebinner or "wall of items to pack" in SINGLE PACK.
@@FinanceFaithFamily on single pack as soon as you grab a tote and scan a item pack the box scan sp00 sticker do u scan item again or just pack and send thanks 🙏
The 2 different sides for tape is because 1 side of the tape dispenser is for amazon color tape... The other is for amazon marketplace tape which is just brown tape...
@@FinanceFaithFamily I feel like a limp noodle today. Everything in my body hurts. I have found new muscles that I didn’t know existed 😂 I’m gonna do my best to survive LOL
Does it matter what side the battery warning label is on? So in most cases the sp00 is on the top of the box in a specific corner. Would the battery label go on the side of the box thats close to the sp00 or on the side that’s across from it? Two people told me conflicting things, I’ve only worked in packing for two days so i don’t wanna possibly mess up even more…
that's how it was when i was in Single Pack. the tape came out the correct size automatically most of the time. in AFE I had to press the correct button.
I recently started and we're told 240 UPH, but an OM came to me and said I was getting better but 150 it's the aim. I ended up pushing myself hard enough they gave me VTO because I was hurting so bad. No one's explained it to us 😭
What about in outbound packing singles do they go by items or totes sent I felt like I packed over 300 or 400 in 6hrs of work but on the board it says 44 so I was like what the heck is that I worked harder than 44 fuckin items?
outbound singles is by items as well. there's 1 item in each tote so i guess it wouldn't matter if you count by item or tote. unless it's different at your warehouse.
Thanks for .I start at a fc on June 9 ,my shift is wed thru sat night .it says fc shipping.so I am guessing it's unloading or loading trucks ? God Bless. Very helpful vids
hi there i recently got hired in pack flow and your video was very helpful. i have a question though... what was the rate in your fullfillment center... were im at is 180.. but im always above im always hitting 200, just curious
there wasn't a definite number to the rate. it fluctuated a lot. yes if you're in AFE packing and you want to be the top packers or make rate easily get the stations on the outside of the wall. if you're the middle station it's extremely easy, but it's harder to get those high rates. glad our videos are helpful. thanks for commenting. leave tips if you have any
Kinda stressed out today. Score 160 but just because I had to pack many heavy package. My manager told me u must keep it 200-250 if you want to stay. I have 5 month probation left. Not sure if I will make it. Sometimes I feel like a Robot. But funny no matter how fast I still can't reach. The score they want everyday.
when i was there no one ever said stuff like "get these numbers if you want to stay". i'm sure it's different at every warehouse. i do remember the leadership had a high turnover rate. every few months they were gone. i agree, I did feel unappreciated and robotic. Are you in AFE outbound packing?
single pack - you will pack 1 item into 1 box. this is what you will do all day. Pack Flow - there are 3 jobs. Packing. Rebin and Induct. I have an explanation of each in my amazon playlist. I've worked both single pack and Pack Flow. I prefer Pack Flow (AFE).
Is there ways to put the sp00 label wrong or opposite side of the up arrows will it get slammed out or kicked out of the system and not count for you???
@@FinanceFaithFamily oh ok thanks it’s cause I just started completed this first week packing singles and my trainers weren’t to clear because one told us one way and the other told us the other way and also down the conveyor belt I seen some boxes lying flat with sp00 label up but the arrows were the wrong way I also threw a couple of boxes in like that but would they warn you if your doing something wrong or not choosing the wrong box size even if the computer screen is incorrect
I have a question..if your about to start your 1st day outbound pack-flow, can you ask them if you can be on pack instead of rebin or induct? Or do they chose for you. I’ve also heard your name will be on a screen but again I’m only wondering because it’s day one.
yes, often times you can ask the manager that you prefer to pack and if they're nice they will allow you to switch with someone. they're suppose to train you in all 3, but it doesn't always work out like that. lots of people i met only knew how to pack. yes they typically choose or suppose to rotate after every break.
Same with my location. The letter is the length, which corresponds to the tape length. The boxes have names like G 220 at my location. I think the number is the height. It makes more sense than a system like “1A9”.
learn where all of the boxes are located so it becomes muscle memory, learn how to replace the tape and stickers yourself. grab supplies in case you run out. simple things like that go a long way. if something goes wrong you don't have to wait 15-20 minutes for someone to help. watch some of our other amazon videos to understand more about rates
Lmao i work for a company in my country as a picker i drive a stacker around and manually load around 10-15 tons daily our daily norm/minimum is 250 items but sometimes one item can be 1 ton. But mostly i can hit double my norm 😅 250 items x the amount of each item is placed on the palette idk if this is easy too understand
I start at an AR sortable facility in a few days and one of the things that was really intimidating was the rate, but how you explained it makes way more sense! Thank you.
Yw
Been working at Amazon for a couple weeks now I've noticed that about the rate. It's very dependent on what kind of orders you get and if rebin is doing their job right. There's way too many things that affect it that are outside of your control so it's best not to worry about it too much and work at a pace that's comfortable for you.
pretty much the moment you see the item, get that thing in the box and out
The one I work at wants 188+. We get written up if we don’t. They expect 2 boxes per minute. They don’t take into consideration the size of the items, technical issues, large quantities. I work AFE at the Carteret NJ warehouse. All they care about is rates.
that's tough
Mine BOS3 in North Andover wants 3 per minute. I make this rate but don't care anymore. My boss is a nasty person and doesn't even want me using my upt at all. Either switching departments or becoming a dps driver if all goes well and leaving the warehouse.
2 boxes a min is rate of 120. I do directed pack AFE rate is 180 minimum is 140 under the managers remind you and under 100 is write up
2 box a min is easy work and im taking my upt whenever i want😂😂
I have 10 years IT work experience. Got laid off my last job as a Network Engineer for dirty drug test . Feel like an angel that fell from Heaven working at Amazon. My first day was Sunday , second day was today . I work in Packing AFE . This job is easy , just monotonous . I was just sitting For 10 months on my ass watching UA-cam and listening to music at my IT job . If I can do this, most people can . It’s easy . I will be leaving in 2 weeks for another IT job but it’s a cool experience to see warehouse work
thanks for sharing your experience!
They want us at 220. I'm like naw, I've been doing this long enough to know better. I used to hit 250-260 regularly, but like you said, all they do is "good job, try to make 280 next time". Okay. How about no. I regularly hit 200 easy so they don't come around and give me no grief.
So they don't give you any gyp?
It’s like be damned if you do be damned in you don’t.
Yes that’s totally right we are just a number, they don’t care.
I'm just doing around 60 if I am fired I am fired. Even our ambassador is like "there is only one you not worth killing yourself over".
You are so welcome! at my area the tape dispensers only had 1 kind of tape, the standard black amazon one.
Same I am currently looking into this right now
@HaiandTerrie unless we have to do green boxes then it's brown tape if u would use the green or amazon tape it will get kicked out
Thank you for this series. I have my
appointment to turn in documents and I’ve been nervous. But you’ve alleviated my anxiety.
Oh man. Thank you so so much. This really helped. Thank God I’m not going to be packing that much boxes per hour. You made me feel so much better. I start work tomorrow and I’m really nervous. Thanks again.
Glad I could help!
Some items don't pack in the box.
Just get into a nice flow / zone and work smoothly and consistently.
great tips and feedback
You're not really held to the expected rate. You'll only get a write up if you're the bottom 3% for that path in your building and there's no justification (like dead wall, system outage etc)
Whether everyone is under expected or everyone is over expected, the bottom 3% still get the write up.
Expected rate is determined to be usually around the site or regional previous 3-week average +10%
Other miscellaneous info:
1) Dildos from China are usually unscannable
2) Sanitizers and Wipes help get stuck on spoo stickers off the counters
3) MASTERPACKS:
a) masterpacks may contain a barcode for one unit on the outside of the box, which passes the scanner, and gets packed
b) the description for the item cannot be fully seen, so sometimes you end up packing masterpacks
4) After you clock in, there is an IDLE TIME counting against you until you sign into a station. It shows up as a light blue bar in the manager's laptops. That's why it's important to get your I.D. scanned when a higher up takes you somewhere to do something else. The blue bar tells them you are clocked in, somewhere in the building and wasting time doing nothing.
I remember my first week they were trying to rush us so hard for a fast rate but now i don’t give a rats ass about their rates, I’m gonna work at my pace whether they like it or not 🤷♂️
You're fired!!!
You can just hit the green button. The printer is synced with your monitor, so it should print out the label size needed and shown on your screen.
Not all them come out automatically some you have to press
For me it was all about learning your wall, based off what your screen showed, you should know whether to turn left or right depending the section of the wall and up or down depending on which row. As well as how fast you can build a box and pull your items from the chute. Learning the location of all your boxes really help as well. I averaged a rate of 360+. Highest rate I hit was a 476 in AFE. Now I am a Process Assistant for pack side in AFE and I enjoy what I do.
Can you get fired for not packing enough items which is 200 an hour if you haven’t meet the requirements ??
PA can see which walls are full in real time. if any wall is full (blown out) it's always the managements fault...their whole existence at amazon is to manage the process...

awesome. im happy it was helpful
Update?
How did it go?
Singles is even easier
Take item from tote -> scan item -> pack item-> repeat
Expected rate is like 80
@@Weehapaa Hello! I work in DuPont, WA and the singles rate is 100, I just talking about my place.
I wish it was like that at mine.. I always felt like it should be connected to the specific given box 😒
Hey mine does that that tape dispense on its own after spoo is scanned it’s more simple and quicker
There are 2 buttons on the tape dispenser because the right side is supposed to be Amazon branded tape and the left should be brown unbranded tape. Amazon shipments go in branded boxes with branded tape. Marketplace items go in unbranded boxes with unbranded tape.
Great info. Thanks for the feedback
Thanks for the video. When I was there, I didn't realize about the color on the machine for the tape 😂 Good tip!
it's funny i didn't either for months.
@@FinanceFaithFamily when you press the big green button it dispenses the tape size that you need, no need to look for the right color.
great tip! when i worked in "single Pack" yes i just pressed the big green button and it gave the correct size tape. in AFE for some reason the tape machine maybe wasn't always programmed. the green button did work for some but not all situations for me.
@@FinanceFaithFamily for me in afe sometimes it would shoot out the wrong size tape and that’s when the color buttons help out! Great vid tho!
I start there in two weeks. I have a question, is it really that busy after Christmas? (kinda hoping they do)
Appreciate the help!
How’s it going so far?
It's random
there are lots of things that we can't control that affects our rates. happens quite often too. computer freezes, equipment failure, conveyer jams.
But my center pays 18.50 so i can't complain to much, just do my best and hope the results show
good perspective. it pays the bills.
Thanks for this video. I start training tomorrow in London England, if I wasn't broke I'd give you a donation.
I've been feeling worried but this video has eased my mind.
These videos are helpful.
thanks for watching and commenting. I hope you have a great first week
You need to aim for over 200. Orders do not count until they clear SLAM. If your order kicks out it goes against your rate and doing the bare minimum does not give you any wiggle room. Packing over 200 will keep you safe because you have wiggle room if your order kicks out at SLAM to keep rate.
great tip!
Thank you! Also dying laughing at “good job 😒”
Haha “if you don’t like the video give us a thumbs down twice” 🤣! great tips and information!
I like it so far though.
lol, just keep up with the others and i think you should be fine.
@@FinanceFaithFamily do they discipline for bad rates, like write ups etc???
@@bmanrandom893 I have never been written up in the year I have working there. They do coach you but never in trouble for it, unless your low because your never at your station.
Water spider
Do you have a landmark to set your box where the sp00 is always in the same orientation?
1 tip I would add, in making sure boxes are upside down, at least currently the tape guides will also show you-the letter for the tape length is always up for up… so when you build the box bottom side first, you should be seeing letters upside down as you first fold the flaps.
Theres a small rectangle where the sp00 goes. Yes great advice. Once you’re working you’ll get the hang of things and learn from others around you.
Wow they tell you what box to use that would be handy in my job
Yeap
1. just press auto or 1b4 or 1bb tape if the machine is bugged
2. i wear a Short sleeve T shirts every day and im fine.
3. Amazons were im at is a typical 100
We use the other number/letters we use a 1A7 box so ours we hit that grey cause that it’s just different warehouse different boxws
The double buttons is called redundancy in case a button needs replaced there will be no interruption in service…
That Make sense!
I may start looking for another job soon idk.
what is the name of your work area? (single pack, AFE, etc.)
@@FinanceFaithFamily AFE
1. refill all of your consumables (tape, Sp00, water for tape, and boxes) before you start.
2. know where to restock supplies yourself and don't rely on water spiders
3. know where all of your boxes are located
4. you want to be on the station that's on the outside of the walls. not the middle station. the stations on the left and right of the walls tend to have the most items to pack. stations on the outside of the wall will have more "bulk orders" meaning that some orders that you need to pack may have 10+ items or 20+ items.
5. understand that the rates go by how many items you pack, not how many boxes. example: 1 box requires that you pack 30 books. well that's 30 items!
6. age doesn't matter, it's just about knowing where everything is. perhaps observe one of the "faster" packers and see what technique they use.
7. i've never seen anyone let go for rates (mostly Time off task or attendance) but if they do let you go, then it's just not God's will and a better opportunity may be around the corner.
i hope that helps!
@@FinanceFaithFamily ❤️ thank you so much.
Two sides of buttons on a printer in case your roll runs out or jams, you can keep going.
not true, mine only has 1 roll. no buttons work if my roll runs out or jams.
My theory why 2 buttons are the same is because if one breaks you can still use the other button.
👆👍
Ive used a double tape machine. Thats what the two buttons are for. One for each side. As far as I know.
Good to know! Thank you
Bro. It's hard. If you aren't in great shape don't bother. It's easy work but they just want soooo much from you.
Thank you for the tips❤️
Your welcome!
Just Started this week and finished day 3 my feet are dead but day 1 I went from 94 a hour to 114 day 2 and 141 on 3😁
Great rate. Also don’t overdue it. It will wear you out. Hopefully you can use this job as a stepping stone. God Bless 🙏🏽
What if you signed up for a shift and don’t like it ? Can you change that shift or move to another location ? How easy or difficult that would be ?
Thank you for this. It’s my 3rd day as a packer.
You’re welcome
@@FinanceFaithFamily thanks. Appreciate it..
you're welcome!
How's it going now lol
I agree missing items ruin your score 🙈
I just started Amazon 4 days in I'm in single pack. I'm suppose to pack 80 in one hour.
The other button set of buttons is for Marketplace orders
Thanks
If you transfer to AFE Outbound everyone starts off as a packer. There’s also an area called Single Pack. I really enjoyed AFE when I was there.
Warehouse Jobs:
Fulfillment Center Associate
Sortation Center Associate
Delivery Station Associate

the rate are somes changes when you pack singles items per box x) you have to be a bit faster ^^ target in Ory1 (my FC in France) are 127 items per hours for Single, and 80 pack for 220 items per hours for mutli :) easy to reach :D
Awesome. Is it Union in France?
@@FinanceFaithFamily union ? What do you mean by union ?
Depends on if your equipment breaks or you have to stock all your boxes. Also the end caps have all the large boxes it all comes into play while trying to make rate.
I really enjoyed seeing you do your job onsite, very informative. Thanks for sharing.
@@FinanceFaithFamily yes I'm in flow pac I started last week and I mean if any item is broken what should I do ?N Thank you so much! Very helpful.
At 4:57 made me laugh 😅. Talk about good job!! 👍😒🤣😂
My FC isn’t like this at all. Mines we still use tape roller (hand held) it’s more physical work then what this FC is.
I'm starting this 26 2023 as a picker.... Thank u for your vdeo brother.
nice, single pack? AFE? or you don't know yet? congrats.
@@FinanceFaithFamily nahhh bro they put in me in shipping dock department.. it's my two weeks now since I started on amazon every break they put me in different position... It's like a war zone in a ship dock department.. but I like it.....
Hi. Thank you for your videos!! When you get hired do you get to pick the job. Or do they assign you to wherever?
Great question. They assign you. I’m thinking they see what your assessment test results look like and put you where they see best fit.
I got hired at Amazon, and this Video is very helpful
that's great to hear. we hope you have a great first day. feel free to share your experience in the comments.
The green button does sometimes work
This may sound dumb but there are so many different position names.
My work is based on accuracy, and performance, they get extra pay through for going faster, everyone around here knows that Amazon base is higher then ours, but all you need to do is go at an average pace and your pay will be higher.
extra pay? how is it calculated?
@@FinanceFaithFamily performance and accuracy , based on how fast they go plus accuracy , accuracy is a big account for it as we don’t want people to fly and end up packing out orders wrong , if a customer calls and complains you get dinged . An average person can work at 100% which equates to $1.25 more per hour , it goes up to 200% which is $5.25 more per hour , that’s hard to reach but some can do it’. As long as they reach 85% they can get some extra pay. Supervisors will get the incentive based on the average performance of the team.
wow, that's news to me. do you work in an amazon warehouse in the US?
Is it true that the scanners are always missing or there’s no available that you have to look for your own to use? Same goes with scanner batteries? If the equipments are not provided properly, then that will affect the employee’s rate....
Now that I’ve seen your video I think I want to go into the part of the branch and if you don’t mind me asking, do you know what they mean by needing to know how to use a (hand truck) I’m was looking on indeed where it talks about the job and all
Sorry for the delay in response. I’m not sure what hand truck means. I haven’t heard the term used in Amazon.
Tomorrow is my first day(well actually Day0 but you know) at Amazon in Spain, wish me luck guys
let us know how it goes. do you know what you will be doing yet?
@@FinanceFaithFamily at the moment all I know is that my turn is "B4-PACK" so I assume I will be doing packing, but tomorrow is the formation day in the warehouse
I was wondering the same thing as everyone about the rates yea is a limit well imma start slow though gotta get used to it cant complain is like everything you just gotta hang of it hope they give a simple rate for starters lol
What area will you be working in?
Nope
Yes, back in 2014 - 2017 maybe they used the brown tape...no any more at my FC.
Man, today was my first day on the floor and I was in the 300 range. I hit 352 at my highest. And, I still felt like I wasn’t going fast enough lol 😆
👍 You got this
@@FinanceFaithFamily I feel like a limp noodle today. Everything in my body hurts. I have found new muscles that I didn’t know existed 😂 I’m gonna do my best to survive LOL
just keep it steady. no need to go all out and hurt yourself. you'll burn yourself out.
@@Scrolling2024 was that a hour or the whole day of the items you packed?
Does it matter what side the battery warning label is on? So in most cases the sp00 is on the top of the box in a specific corner. Would the battery label go on the side of the box thats close to the sp00 or on the side that’s across from it? Two people told me conflicting things, I’ve only worked in packing for two days so i don’t wanna possibly mess up even more…

@@FinanceFaithFamily thank you:)!
you're welcome. thanks for commenting
My Amazon we just hit the auto button and the correct tape comes out. Alot easier
that's how it was when i was in Single Pack. the tape came out the correct size automatically most of the time. in AFE I had to press the correct button.
I dont know if it's different at other sites. But in the fc I work at, rate is measured how many packages per hour. Not individual items.
That’s really interesting. So your place rates by how many boxes you package per hour? What’s the rate they want you at? Thanks for sharing
I recently started and we're told 240 UPH, but an OM came to me and said I was getting better but 150 it's the aim. I ended up pushing myself hard enough they gave me VTO because I was hurting so bad. No one's explained it to us 😭
yikes, yes i saw many young and energetic teens push themselves so hard. it's not maintainable. not worth injuring yourself for $15-18/hr
Oh I thought it was like. A minimum of 100 boxes per hr not items if that's the case it's walk on the park to do 200-1000 items pr hr on multi
Yup it can be a walk in the Park. Is the luck of the draw sometime. Sometimes you get a bunch of orders that are 2-3 items. Slows you down
that good to know , i was thinking it was a box not what is in it.
Awesome 👏. Yes it’s items not boxes. 200-250 boxes would be crazy difficult
So would you get in trouble if you were to put pre-written little kind sticky notes in these packages?
probably yes.
It could be anything. It’s quite broad. You know on day 1
hi there i recently got hired in pack flow and your video was very helpful. i have a question though... what was the rate in your fullfillment center... were im at is 180.. but im always above im always hitting 200, just curious
there wasn't a definite number to the rate. it fluctuated a lot. yes if you're in AFE packing and you want to be the top packers or make rate easily get the stations on the outside of the wall. if you're the middle station it's extremely easy, but it's harder to get those high rates. glad our videos are helpful. thanks for commenting. leave tips if you have any
I do same job on Amazon logistics in Germany 😊
Awesome 😃
Yeah multipack
@@FinanceFaithFamily amazon Frankenthal Germany
Which do you prefer: outbound pack flow or singles?? What’s the difference?
single pack - you will pack 1 item into 1 box. this is what you will do all day.
Pack Flow - there are 3 jobs. Packing. Rebin and Induct. I have an explanation of each in my amazon playlist.
I've worked both single pack and Pack Flow. I prefer Pack Flow (AFE).
@@FinanceFaithFamily How can I transfer from direct pack to single pack?
Thanks for the info on the rate. 😁
Is there ways to put the sp00 label wrong or opposite side of the up arrows will it get slammed out or kicked out of the system and not count for you???
yes if the SP00 is not in the correct spot it will get kick out and you won't get credit for packing those items
@@FinanceFaithFamily oh ok thanks it’s cause I just started completed this first week packing singles and my trainers weren’t to clear because one told us one way and the other told us the other way and also down the conveyor belt I seen some boxes lying flat with sp00 label up but the arrows were the wrong way I also threw a couple of boxes in like that but would they warn you if your doing something wrong or not choosing the wrong box size even if the computer screen is incorrect
yes, don't be afraid to ask some co workers that may have been there a while. the trainers can be unhelpful
Im thinking about doing this or package sorter
I have a question..if your about to start your 1st day outbound pack-flow, can you ask them if you can be on pack instead of rebin or induct? Or do they chose for you. I’ve also heard your name will be on a screen but again I’m only wondering because it’s day one.
yes, often times you can ask the manager that you prefer to pack and if they're nice they will allow you to switch with someone. they're suppose to train you in all 3, but it doesn't always work out like that. lots of people i met only knew how to pack. yes they typically choose or suppose to rotate after every break.
I work at DTW1 we use the the other tape dispenser for marketplace brown tape , thanks for the tips!
You are so welcome!
My FC has single letters on the tape dispenser. That's weird.
Same with my location. The letter is the length, which corresponds to the tape length. The boxes have names like G 220 at my location. I think the number is the height. It makes more sense than a system like “1A9”.
Hey man you talked about singles and thats what I'm doing I'm having a hard time getting my rate up to where it needs to be any tips
@JSkopezz I'm a try that thank you I really appreciate it
4:56
I died at this part 😂
Hahaha
When it comes to packing to make rates, how do you maintain a good, consistent rate throughout the entire shift?
learn where all of the boxes are located so it becomes muscle memory, learn how to replace the tape and stickers yourself. grab supplies in case you run out. simple things like that go a long way. if something goes wrong you don't have to wait 15-20 minutes for someone to help. watch some of our other amazon videos to understand more about rates
