- In this video I will show you how EASY it is to change a 6.7 Cummins CCV filter! This easy DIY CCV filter change will save you time AND money. Changing the Cummins CCV filter is probably the easiest DIY maintenance project you will ever do. The whole process took about 15 minutes. This filter is recommended to be replaced every 67,500 miles. The "Perform Service" notification will appear somewhere close to that mileage and will need to be reset through the procedure listed below.
Below is a link to the Fleetguard CCV filter I ordered from Amazon. I have been using the Fleetguard oil and fuel filters for years and this CCV filter was an exact match to the OE filter I removed.

UPDATE:
I received the "Perform Service" notification on the dash at 67,425 miles. Below is the reset procedure to clear the notification:
1. Turn ignition switch to the "on" position DO NOT start the truck
2. Press and release the brake pedal 2 times
3. Fully press the accelerator pedal 2 times slowly within 10 seconds
4. Turn ignition "off"

Excellent! Bought the Cummins CVS5400300 today on amz; $135 incl tax; part only; now that its Feb 19. 2022 and oem and prices/costs up on everything.
Labor would have been $185 on what you just did. THANK YOU!
Question please: 2013 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins: does it need a ERG rebuild at 74k miles or ever? No problems, just the "Service Needed". Appreciate reply Thank you!
You’re welcome! Glad you found this video helpful. Honestly I have seen mixed reviews regarding EGR cleaning on the trucks that use DEF. I do not see EGR cleaning on the maintenance schedule from 2013 and up. It definitely won’t hurt…but I’m not planning to do mine. From what I have read, the trucks that use DEF use much less EGR resulting in less of a need to clean it regularly.
@@JouppiOutdoors Thank you for reply! Had thoroughly checked manual beforehand and of course no schedule on this as you have said. If I can ever answer a plumbing question of any sort for you or your circle please ask. Subscribed.
you should add how to reset the "service" notice that comes up every time you start the truck
You’re absolutely right. I didn’t think about it because my service light had not come on as of the time I did this video. I could have looked up the procedure and added it in though.
I believe you are supposed to have the egr valve cleaned as well when you change the cc filter.
You could be correct, I didn’t see that on my maintenance schedule? I will look in to this, thanks!
Don’t clean the EGR , delete that beast. Your truck will thank you every time you turn the key.
@@hardtruth2039 I wish I could! Can't do that in my county!
That only applies to the trucks prior to 2013 I believe but I know it does not apply to the 2018 trucks
I have the same truck and changed my CCV filter out and did the hard brake pedal reset. The perform service message still comes on. Have you had this problem?
The process I used was: key on-press brake pedal twice-fully press the accelerator slowly 2 times within 10 seconds-key off- -startup and no light! Thanks for watching!
What year model? That would probably be important.
The CCV filter application guide shows 1 option from 2007.5-2024. If your truck had a CCV filter, the process will be extremely similar to this. Mine is a 2018
