how thats quite an ordeal. Why would they not opt for a traditional inline fuel filter?

It does seem like a lot and can take some setting up time, although it has superior filtration to the inlines.
If only we would ask the Manufacture to change them all 😊

If you are referring to the in-tank fuel pump, which has a strainer on the bottom of it. It can Depending on the application, we may or may not supply the fuel pump filter
