    Thanks for your video. Soon will be purchasing the Axion too. Reason why you never discussed the bearing maintenance? 😊

      Darrellkh H. Glad the video was helpful! I didn’t go through the bearing maintenance because at the time Axiom didn’t recommend needing that. They have now changed their stance on it and have actually released their own video on bearing maintenance. I definitely recommend checking it out on the Axiom Tool Group channel.

    How do you like the Axiom? Thinking about upgrading and leaning towards the Axiom

      Frank Hiebert Hey Frank, the Axiom is a great machine. I’ve done projects from foam all the way up to brass and it’s all worked great. If you have any specific questions about the machine, feel free to email me. kris@thetinkirworkshop.com

      I bought mine about 3 weeks ago and all I can say is go for it! And Kris, I believe I read that with heavy use you should grease it once a month or so. Please let us know what Chad said!

    Do you know how we can change the coolant?

    • @TheTinkirWorkshop
      @TheTinkirWorkshop  Рік тому

      There is an access panel on the back of the gantry behind your spindle that has the coolant reservoir. Just empty that, flush it with some distilled water and then add your fresh coolant.

    • @sd961960
      @sd961960 Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the reply… I guess we empty it with a syringe? But how do we flush it? This isn’t like a brake master cylinder where I pump the brakes to flush out the master cylinder.

    I'm in the process of designing and building a CNC machine and looking at lots of videos on previous designs/CNCs. The commercial ones are definitely the best. Look at Pro CNC's control box! The Chinese machines are a joke and a rip-off.
    Interesting comment that waste gets caught under the gantry at the Y rails! This is one of the few CNC's I've seen the the Y rails UNDER the bed rather than on the side of the frame. Probably why the alum T-slot bed is so massive. With side-mounted rails, waste would just fall to the floor. In addition, access for cleaning the rails under the bed seems more difficult if not impossible. Assembly of the gantry must be a real project! With the Axiom, your machine, I don't see why they didn't mount the Y rails to the tube steel frame instead of the bed! Their design locks in the bed design and cost of that heavy alum T-slot. For example, if I want to machine carbon fiber, I need a water bed/tank that is steel so I can use magnets to hold the work. They could have use shaft rails instead of the square linear rails on the Y axis; much easier to keep clean.
    The air cooled has a finned mount which you did not clean! I'm using a water cooled spindle; I'll be machining aluminum.
    FYI That rubbing alcohol has 9% WATER in it. On the X rails, you failed to lube the bottom side! However, since the blocks are greased, why are you even lubing the rails? Isn't the PTFE just making for a nice dust magnet to create muck for the bearing to roll over into a paste!
    Nice video though! Could use some more lighting.

    You forgot the grease fitting.

    • @TheTinkirWorkshop
      @TheTinkirWorkshop  4 роки тому

      Rob Brown The grease fittings actually aren’t accessible without dismantling parts of the machine. Axiom also recommends that they don’t need to be touched for the life of the machine.

      Kris the grease fittings are easy to get to. No dismantling of the machine. Axiom does NOT claim that the grease fittings do not need to be greased.

    Sir can I use WD40 instead 3in 1 oil

    • @TheTinkirWorkshop
      @TheTinkirWorkshop  3 роки тому

      No, please do not use WD40. WD40 is not a lubricant. Eventually it will attract more dust and start to cake up making things worse. It’ll also get gummy overtime hurting your machine. 3-in-1 oil is best suited for your machine.

      @TheTinkirWorkshop  3 роки тому

      @@sonuverma2796 I’m sorry, but I don’t believe the oils you have accessible would be recommended. I would try and find a light machine oil. Maybe there’s some machine shops around you that could recommend something that you have access to. Other than that, I would try and buy through an online retailer and have it shipped. I wish I could be more help.
