    Great video, I am planing to get one myself. I was worried about lifting it over the stand, but I saw that you could do it with the help of your wife. But, how did you get it on top of the table first? Thanks.

      I lifted one side and sat corner on the table, then lifted other side and slid it on...

      @@WoodworkingManiak I thought maybe I can ask the delivery lift to place that box over my workbench and do something like that...how did you lift it over the table, not the stand, to start with?

    Hi, Do you know What pitch screw ball does the machine use for Y and X axes

    Good to see some of what goes into setting up one of these. Is this in addition to your Shopbot Desktop Max (searching for that is how I found your channel in the first place), or instead of it?

    • @WoodworkingManiak
      @WoodworkingManiak  6 років тому +2

      +Lawrence Becker This one is in replacement of the Max. The Desktop Max is a nice machine, but this one has a larger work area, larger liquid cooled spindle, and also has its own controller so it doesn't require a computer to be dedicated to the machine at all times. Thanks for watching.

    Since this is titled Part 1 I was looking forward to more parts. Where are they?

      Steve, I apologize! There are more coming. Life happened and caused me to slack on that videos. I'm currently moving into a new shop and will have many new videos coming up!

    Great video Tim. I love my Axiom as well. Unrelated question. I noticed that my water cooler tubes are dark brown at the spindle, and noticed that yours are as well in the intro video. They were originally clear (green). Is this a concern that you know of?

    • @WoodworkingManiak
      @WoodworkingManiak  5 років тому +1

      Mine are now brown as well. I haven't taken the time to flush and put in new coolant. I think that needs to be done periodically.

    You had a really nice ShopBot Desktop MAX CNC. Why did you switch over to this AXIOM CNC?

    • @WoodworkingManiak
      @WoodworkingManiak  5 років тому +1

      The ShopBot was nice for sure. They are a great company too.
      Few reasons I upgraded.
      1. Has larger cutting area.
      2. More powerful spindle.
      3. Water cooled spindle instead of air cooled.
      4. Has its own controller, so doesn't need to have computer connected to it to run.
      5. 4" dust collection port.
      6. Faster spindle (up to 24k rpm instead of only 18k)
      There are probably more reasons, but those are at top of my mind...

    @WoodworkingManiak how did you get the spindle to go up (z axis) to install the dust shoe (minute 3:10)

      Without power, you can move the gantry. Once power is turned on, the servos lock in.

    Is there a way to set the x and y to a particular spot on the table. Example, if I set the corner of the work piece to zero but want to start the cutting at 1/2" x and 1/2" y, Can you jog the machine over to 1/2" x and y once zero is set? Reason, I am working with some older files that were set up this way. Thanks

    • @WoodworkingManiak
      @WoodworkingManiak  5 років тому

      Yes, you can set x and y wherever you want. I have found I like it best by setting x and y at center and making all vCarve files based on center.

    • @nunaubusiness4840
      @nunaubusiness4840 5 років тому

      @@WoodworkingManiak I like using center as well but I have many molds that were created using left corner and the molds are used to trim parts over and over again so I would have to be able to find zero on the old molds. I don;t know why, but when these older molds were created they are x=.05 y=.05 from the left corner of the mold. I have the Next Wave CNC now and it lets me set the corner of the project and key enter .05 to jog the bit over in both x and y positions. I need a bigger cnc now for larger projects so I am looking seriously at the Axiom for a Turkey Day purchase.

      @@WoodworkingManiak HI, That should be G54, G55 etc. It should allow you to set the work co-ordinates to anywhere you want. And of course more than one can be used in a program. You will just need to incorporate it into your program(multiple identical parts). Great Video too :-)
