Men in my family literally have told me they go for uglier women because they'll put up with a lot more, expect less, and will be his mommy. Beautiful women have options, but many of them still struggle to find a quality man that actually values her beyond her looks. So the grass is greener, but because it's fake. It's an illusion, a lie. Being conventionally beautiful doesn't save you from being disrespected, used, or abused. Pretty privilege is real, but the privilege to do what exactly? Be preyed upon more often? Be victimized more? I've experienced both sides due to high weight fluctuations. Beauty won't save you from misogyny or the predatory nature of men. ALL women need to have a good self esteem, and as Cynthia G says "boundaries, standards, and expectations". Walk when men SHOW you they don't care to meet nor respect them. That will create a strong foundation within yourself so you never lose yourself in these relationships. It is better to be single in solitude than be to alone in an abusive relationship.
This is sadly untrue. Women who love themselves truly get the best men because they won’t settle for something else. All other women, ugly or not will not get anything worth having.

As a former hottie I want to share that these same guys would hit on me as soon as their “ugly” woman’s back was turned. Some of these women were super wives who cooked, sewed, built up their man’s career, etc but they got taken for granted. They were place holders while the guys keep an eye out for an “upgrade”.

Society treats "ugly" people terribly. Especially "ugly" women. Growing up I've been called ugly my whole life and it did knock down my self-esteem to dangerously low levels. When my self-esteem was low I did almost anything to try to get a date and even keep one after that. This is why men go for "ugly" women. To use her until he's had enough. (Sorry for the constant quotes around the word ugly as I myself don't believe anyone is ugly. We're all God's children made in his image.)

I've rarely been called ugly by anyone, but I've learned you don't have to be called the actual word to know that you are. The fact that I'm fat and rarely approached by men pretty much let me know I wasn't attractive. The thing with me is I always knew that pretty women didn't have to do much to get male attention because I saw it. I saw men go up to them and actually be respectful to them in contrast to how they treated me. Did it suck, heck yes. Was I sad sometimes, yes. But I chucked it up to life isn't fair. And I've never believed the things people have told me about true beauty because I knew it was all BS. I know why I'm mostly ugly because I'm fat and I refuse to wear makeup so that's my fault. But I know I could look so much better, it's just that I'm often too impatient to wait to get to the better. But the desire to one day become pretty has never left me. I know what I have to do aka get thin and put on some makeup. It's just challenging and I keep procrastinating but to be honest I'm beyond tired and fed up with being the fat ugly girl and being treated differently for it. I want to be the thin pretty girl that men go crazy for and make women jealous. 🤣🤣 That sounds super shallow but it's my truth, and besides it's way funner being the pretty girl then it is being the ugly girl. People do not know how hurtful it is to call a woman ugly Viola Davis said it brilliantly that if you are not considered beautiful in society you are not considered worth value especially as a woman. I think anyone who agrees with this commentary needs to rethink the definition of high maintenance vs. high standards. Being high-maintenance doesn’t mean you have high standards. Being "ugly" doesn’t mean you have low standards and will accept anything from anybody.

You know, growing up being called "ugly" and being made aware that you're undesirable will really ruin your self esteem as a girl. So it's hard to get into dating spheres with all that unpacked trauma because even till today women like me who are dark skinned still get called undesirable because we aren't part of what's considered conventionally attractive. We still get back handed comments like "You weren't what I expected" "I should've spoke to you first" "You're pretty for a dark skinned girl/ black girl" and it's like who are you even talking to with that mess??? I'm honestly over men, and I don't blame women for actively choosing to be single if this is what the dating culture offers.

Fewer options don't make a woman stay. Low self-esteem isn't a character of all the women you have decided to call ugly. Many beautiful women have low self value and constantly want attention. They feel insecure when someone doesn't like their picture or gaslight them about how much better they are. At the end of the day, being ugly or beautiful does not determine your self-worth and definitely doesn't define how you feel about boundaries and values.
Attractions and attractiveness are extremely subjective. Beauty standards change all the time. I'm a "not traditionally good looking woman" who has an amazing husband I've been with for almost 30 years. He has always thought I was beautiful, and still does. Physical beauty fades as people age. You gotta have other stuff going on in a relationship.
I was always called ugly by my family. I was put down and told no man would ever want me. 18 years into my marriage and my husband still calls me beautiful and cherishes me. Only ugly fat disgusting men like alcoholics, homless and narcissists were interested in me. Now that I am slim and take more care of myself, these men dont show affection anymore. But also, no other men are interested in me. In my home country Germany men dont approach women on the street like it is normal in America. So, I dont know it is because I am still ugly or not. As an ugly woman, i find that men are either overtly disgusted by me, see me as a charity case or someone to pity or outright pretend i don't exist. I feel like i see who men really are, for all their shallowness and narcissism. First- Society puts a woman's worth on her physical appearance. The same way society put men's worth on his wealth. To quote Marilyn Monroe "A girl being pretty is like a man being rich your not going to marry a girl just because she's pretty but it absolutely helps". Secondly who are you (The people in the video) to decide what is attractive and what isn't because standards of beauty vary decade to decade and culture to culture just because you aren't attracted to a person with a certain look does not mean that they are unattractive.
All I have to say is that this is a one-sided argument. I say this because men who genuinely love their wives despite not fitting the beauty standards, would not be in this discussion because of not wanting to dishonor their wives with the insult of being called ugly. If you want proof of this, the video with the woman reading the letter of the woman being called ugly by her husband's friends shows you the impact and consequences of a man doing this. I also want to mention, that there are men who care nothing about beauty who are very attractive and sought after. I have seen it with my eyes as an ugly woman (With High Standards and ONLY attract handsome men). There is a lot more I can say, but I am going to leave it at that. This discussion is disturbing on so many levels.
One thing that we have to take into consideration is, beauty standards seem to be very eurocentric. My experience being a dude with close indigenous/native american ancestry (my aunt was), I have dated lots of girls who would be considered "atractive" by society standards, but I was almost never considered atractive myself. From Mexico to Brazil, there's alot of r*cism towards indigenous people, I used to not like my ancestry, but thankfully I am more than proud of it now 🧡🧡

Beautiful women most definitely have more than just looks, as do most women. The point is that Beautiful women tend to also have higher self-esteem & boundaries. Whilst less-attractive women tend to put up with a lot more & are more willing to bend over backwards for their men, in fear that they won't get another.

I don’t think there’s necessarily anything wrong with viewing your partner as unattractive if you mean it CONVENTIONALLY (as in the more objective, wider society view on beauty standards). But your partner should definitely be attractive to you SUBJECTIVELY at least. Maybe I’m biased because of how my orientation works, but it wouldn’t matter to me if models or athletes or whoever else that most people find conventionally attractive is thrown at me. My husband has always been the most attractive person to me because I love him. And I have told him how attractive I find him (truthfully) at every stage of our relationship including all his different weight fluctuations, hairstyle changes, or clothing choices. Looks may matter in a way, but they are superficial reasons to build a life and love with someone. You need far more than that because looks change and fade for everybody over time. It’s just a fact of life some people can’t seem to wrap their brains around.

Physical looks is nice but once you get to know a person they either get prettier or less attractive based on their inner qualities. People focus too much on the physical which is funny as we always focus on the wrong things when it comes to everything. With that said - physical is nice and should still be there. We can all look beautiful and ugly depending on where we are in our cycle, shower or no shower ect. I was really ugly yesterday hadn’t washed my hair in days and just didn’t care much. Today I washed my hair and did some skincare/makeup and I look beautiful. Women on this post are missing the point. I have known several women who are not attractive by today's standards. But they are happily married for years, and no, they are not doormats. Some of them are quite in charge of their man, they are strong, powerful ladies, which I find really interesting. They wear sweats and are covered up. These women have jobs, one of them is a boss lady, owns her own company, and her man is in his 30s and she is in her 50s, with grey hair. He adores her, and they have been together for 11 years. No, these women self esteem is not low. On the contrary, they know that they don't need to look perfect to be worthy of love. These women attract a different kind of man. Not a man who is impressed by beauty and youth. I think being beautiful never guarantees you will have a happy relationship. Look at all the beautiful Hollywood actresses and how miserable most of them are and their relationships don't work.

Recently, a man waaay out of my league in terms of looks and income took interest in me, and even though i have always been praised by my personality, intelligence, humor, talents, etc. i know i'm average looking at best, and didn't want to put up with whatever ulterior motives someone who could have whoever he wants could have. I've rarely been called ugly by anyone, but I've learned you don't have to be called the actual word to know that you are. The fact that I'm fat and rarely approached by men pretty much let me know I wasn't attractive. The thing with me is I always knew that pretty women didn't have to do much to get male attention because I saw it. I saw men go up to them and actually be respectful to them in contrast to how they treated me. Did it suck, heck yes. Was I sad sometimes, yes. But I chucked it up to life isn't fair. And I've never believed the things people have told me about true beauty because I knew it was all BS.
I know why I'm mostly ugly because I'm fat and I refuse to wear makeup so that's my fault. But I know I could look so much better, it's just that I'm often too impatient to wait to get to the better. So it's hard to get into dating spheres with all that unpacked trauma because even till today women like me who are dark skinned still get called undesirable because we aren't part of what's considered conventionally attractive. Fewer options don't make a woman stay. Low self-esteem isn't a character of all the women you have decided to call ugly. Many beautiful women have low self value and constantly want attention. It is horrible and disgusting how people treat you as a disabled person. When I was fat I experienced the same. Only ugly fat disgusting men like alcoholics, homless and narcissists were interested in me. Now that I am slim and take more care of myself, these men dont show affection anymore. But also, no other men are interested in me. In my home country Germany men dont approach women on the street like it is normal in America. So, I dont know it is because I am still ugly or not. When I traveled to New York City a lot of attractive men approched me on the street or stared after me. So, I think I am not that ugly anymore, haha. But I was so dumb at that time to choose a narcassit 🙈

As an ugly woman, i find that men are either overtly disgusted by me, see me as a charity case or someone to pity or outright pretend i don't exist. I feel like i see who men really are, for all their shallowness and narcissism. Ngl, being ugly does suck so much, it does eat away at your confidence and it's a heavy cross to carry when you try to take care of yourself and no matter what you do, you just always look awful. But i am glad i do not get approached by men. Knowing that i will only be used or seen as someone who will never leave. I plan to remain single to the day i die and i will never entertain a single man no matter what.

All I have to say is that this is a one-sided argument. I say this because men who genuinely love their wives despite not fitting the beauty standards, would not be in this discussion because of not wanting to dishonor their wives with the insult of being called ugly. If you want proof of this, the video with the woman reading the letter of the woman being called ugly by her husband's friends shows you the impact and consequences of a man doing this.
I also want to mention, that there are men who care nothing about beauty who are very attractive and sought after. I have seen it with my eyes as an ugly woman (With High Standards and ONLY attract handsome men). There is a lot more I can say, but I am going to leave it at that. This discussion is disturbing on so many levels.

One thing that we have to take into consideration is, beauty standards seem to be very eurocentric. My experience being a dude with close indigenous/native american ancestry (my aunt was), I have dated lots of girls who would be considered "atractive" by society standards, but I was almost never considered atractive myself. From Mexico to Brazil, there's alot of r*cism towards indigenous people, I used to not like my ancestry, but thankfully I am more than proud of it now 🧡🧡

Beautiful women most definitely have more than just looks, as do most women. The point is that Beautiful women tend to also have higher self-esteem & boundaries. Whilst less-attractive women tend to put up with a lot more & are more willing to bend over backwards for their men, in fear that they won't get another.

I don’t think there’s necessarily anything wrong with viewing your partner as unattractive if you mean it CONVENTIONALLY (as in the more objective, wider society view on beauty standards). But your partner should definitely be attractive to you SUBJECTIVELY at least.
Maybe I’m biased because of how my orientation works, but it wouldn’t matter to me if models or athletes or whoever else that most people find conventionally attractive is thrown at me. My husband has always been the most attractive person to me because I love him. And I have told him how attractive I find him (truthfully) at every stage of our relationship including all his different weight fluctuations, hairstyle changes, or clothing choices.
Looks may matter in a way, but they are superficial reasons to build a life and love with someone. You need far more than that because looks change and fade for everybody over time. It’s just a fact of life some people can’t seem to wrap their brains around.

Personally, I couldn’t be with someone I’m not attracted to. There are some women who deal with unattractive men just for the sake of having a man. I knew a man named Yikes cause he was so unattractive. He had charm and street smarts. He would have the prettiest of women fighting over him. I couldn’t understand what they saw in him .

Physical looks is nice but once you get to know a person they either get prettier or less attractive based on their inner qualities.
People focus too much on the physical which is funny as we always focus on the wrong things when it comes to everything. With that said - physical is nice and should still be there. However, it doesn't last. But inner qualities always remain.

We can all look beautiful and ugly depending on where we are in our cycle, shower or no shower ect. I was really ugly yesterday hadn’t washed my hair in days and just didn’t care much. Today I washed my hair and did some skincare/makeup and I look beautiful. It’s all subjective there’s pics of super models looking haggard at grocery store it’s normal to feel and look ugly sometimes.

Women on this post are missing the point. I have known several women who are not attractive by today's standards. But they are happily married for years, and no, they are not doormats. Some of them are quite in charge of their man, they are strong, powerful ladies, which I find really interesting. They wear sweats and are covered up. These women have jobs, one of them is a boss lady, owns her own company, and her man is in his 30s and she is in her 50s, with grey hair. He adores her, and they have been together for 11 years. No, these women self esteem is not low. On the contrary, they know that they don't need to look perfect to be worthy of love. These women attract a different kind of man. Not a man who is impressed by beauty and youth. I think being beautiful never guarantees you will have a happy relationship. Look at all the beautiful Hollywood actresses and how miserable most of them are and their relationships don't work.
In my life I've learned that there are assh*les in all groups of people. I've also learned that for me, a person's personality and character is just as important as their physical looks. A person could be as pretty as an angel in a Renaissance painting, but if that's all they've got going for them, physical attractiveness alone won't be enough for long.

Recently, a man waaay out of my league in terms of looks and income took interest in me, and even though i have always been praised by my personality, intelligence, humor, talents, etc. i know i'm average looking at best, and didn't want to put up with whatever ulterior motives someone who could have whoever he wants could have. I saw something like this in real life. A set of Gambian sisters I know have this going on. One sister is drop dead gorgeous but her marriages fail. The other is a bit funny looking, stayed single for many years but focused on her legal career. The one that is a lawyer ended up with a regular guy who loves her to pieces. They have children and are doing great!
