I had an extremely attractive husband and we divorced I went the opposite direction and thought a less attractive man would treat me better 😱 never again, my kids made fun of how he looked and he ending up punching me, and said he can get any woman he wants. My dad was immensely unattractive and 20 years older than my mom who was arranged married to him. My mom was the beautiful one and her presence elevated his status in the eyes of others. My dad grew to resent my mother because of her youth and beauty, he would constantly try to ruin her skin and hair by adding things into her creams and shampoos, also he would pressure her to eat certain foods that can age a person. 😢. Dude is ugly and built like a preying mantis but he's REEEAALLLY smart, he did my Calc 2 homework in like 10 minutes. I’ve been used as a stepping stone more than once by an ugly guy I’ve dated… they start playing mind games, noticing attention from more attractive women and ultimately leave me to try their luck at bagging someone better. Every ugly guy I’ve dated has ended up emotionally abusing me and treating me like a second class citizen. All because I didn’t want to be seen as superficial or judgy.

You're right about the pity stories. It's like they think that a woman is more likely to date them if they give a sob story. The only guy that I wasnt attracted to and decided to give him a chance gave me a sob story during the very first text convo we had after exchanging numbers. And he threw in that "his mother didn't love him" for good measure. I told him that he was 39 sounding like a 12yr old who didnt get his own way, and if he felt that his mum didnt love him, why was he still living with her?! After more choice words, I told him to seek therapy for his unresolved issues. Those sob stories don't work on me. If anything its quite off putting that he decided to tell me those things during the courting stage.

When I gained some weight in my first year of college suddenly everyone wanted me to date this obese guy my sister was friends with, I said no, I am going to lose weight, and I did, stayed in a weight-loss spa in Brazil (where my grandma lives and it's much cheaper) for a month during summer then continued to eat healthy and exercise and I got to a point where now I'm a size 2 or 4 (it depends on the clothes) at 5'6'' and I'm quite happy with my weight!

So earlier this year- I met this guy ( he was okay looking, not that hot or anything, but decent- he had facial hair and was tall lol)... but anyway, of course he waste no time when he started texting me by asking for pics/ig ( I hate when they ask for that ish cuz they share it with their friends and pick apart your looks ugh). Men, regardless of looks, are most likely to be on their personal best behavior (whatever that is) when they are in pursuit of a relationship or trying to stop a woman from leaving him. When they are secure within the relationship, they usually get complacent to downright reckless. Their looks or other attributes don't change that because they know that a woman that leaves or cheats in a committed relationship faces more stigma and societal backlash. So, they rely on that to keep the woman rather than making sure she's happy. The best thing that a woman could do is to have clear standards for what she wants and be willing + ABLE to leave when her wishes are crossed. When I gained some weight in my first year of college suddenly everyone wanted me to date this obese guy my sister was friends with, I said no, I am going to lose weight, and I did, stayed in a weight-loss spa in Brazil (where my grandma lives and it's much cheaper) for a month during summer then continued to eat healthy and exercise and I got to a point where now I'm a size 2 or 4 (it depends on the clothes) at 5'6'' and I'm quite happy with my weight!

Men, regardless of looks, are most likely to be on their personal best behavior (whatever that is) when they are in pursuit of a relationship or trying to stop a woman from leaving him. When they are secure within the relationship, they usually get complacent to downright reckless. Their looks or other attributes don't change that because they know that a woman that leaves or cheats in a committed relationship faces more stigma and societal backlash. So, they rely on that to keep the woman rather than making sure she's happy. The best thing that a woman could do is to have clear standards for what she wants and be willing + ABLE to leave when her wishes are crossed. I noticed that men at my same level of attractiveness or a bit lower were NEVER interested in me and always hit on my friend who was way out of their league. Fine, because I decided never to be with someone who felt he was "settling" for me, and I wasn't willing to settle either. Attraction has to be there on both sides.
I had an fbf situation with an uglasssss dude who begged to be in a relationship. When I gave his ugly ass a chance bc i pitied him, his ego went thru the roof. I laughed when I went through his phone (that i gave him bc he was also broke) and saw all the chicks rejecting him. He was also physically abusive. Never again will i give a chance to an ugly mfer.

I’m someone who only wants to date men who are intellectually and physically on the same level as me or higher. last guy I dated levelled with me intellectually and we had a lot in common but that was it I had to FORCE myself to be physically attracted to him (he wasn’t necessarily ugly, just not my type nor on my level) but it’s cause I was in a lack mindset and desperate to not be alone + society/people around me kept making me feel like there must be something wrong with me cause I’m so pretty yet somehow not dateable? it should be natural for women to be picky because we have the power of LIFE and they’ve been hard at work for centuries trying to psychologically bring us down and make us settle for less
