It's the second fastest crossbow on the market. The Tenpoint nitro 505 shoots a 400 grain arrow between 505 to 520 fps . Correction the R500 shoots a 400 grain arrow including the field point , the arrow is 300 grains and the field point 100 grains. But still a very impressive crossbow 👍
I got the Nitro after sending Ravin back. It’s awesome- no issues much easier to de-cock as well! Very happy
@@kimberlylevin2191 I'm very jealous! The Nitro is a amazing crossbow. I had a PSE TAC 15 a few years ago. Sold it as I hardly used it, however it's crazy the speeds modern high end crossbows are achieving.
@@leadslinger Ha Ha Thanks! My guy bought it for my X-mas gift; he's a keeper:)
@@kimberlylevin2191 lol aren't you lucky! I live in South Africa. We are a very poor country 😂 So any donations of Tenpoint Nitro 505's are more than welcome. 😂
@@kimberlylevin2191 what issues did you have with the Ravin Kimberly?
Very, very impressive offering. Not impressed with bolts failure to stay together. Good review. Thank you.
I agree. Bolts are not good it seems
Just to be clear, it shoots a 400 grain arrow. That 400 grains includes a 100 grain point. The arrow itself weighs 300 grains.
@UCKMpCDu-LnX0t_BgUe7UGWg actually buddy he is correct either that or ravins website is wrong. I do very much enjoy your channel and certainly not trying to spark a pissing match or anything but you should go check the website. It states speeds up to 500 FPS with a 400 grain arrow.
@@KillenNReelinoutdoors looks like i was wrong. I was referencing the other bolts by ravin.
I am getting 302.2 gn for the bolts without field point
All arrow/ bolt weight includes the head weight their total weight. Not like Tenpoint is shooting their bows in the factory without a field point and getting 520fps! Either way $3000 for Xbox is ridiculous
It’s not for everybody, that’s true. It is a smooth and accurate machine however.
Sweet review! Ya know, i never wanted a crossbow.. but now… maybe I do 😉
Thanks
Death buy bungie
I was the same but after using the R10, I was sold.
More and more I’m hearing about broken or stripped out Nocks and fraying strings. Not acceptable for $3000 bow.
I agree its not acceptable. My only problems are broken nocks so far but thats unacceptable as they cost an insane amount if it ruins the bolt

It appears that the second bolt (one on the right) was missing the nock immediately after striking the target. Am I wrong ? If I’m correct, then what caused that ?
It broke off
For $5000-ish, you should not supply a mediocre scope and rings. Just my opinion. That’s a lot of money.
Agreed its overpriced
I just got the R500- shot it ~15 times- strings fraying, 2 nocks broke, not easy to get bolts seated- ended up sending it back. Not the quality I would expect for that kind of money. Very disappointed
I am also having issues with the bolts
I feel bad for you mate , done a heap of research on the ravin and nitro 505 and went with the 505 thank god
I also went with the nitro 505 because I've been hunting with a nitro rdx for the past 5-6 years and have dropped red deer, pigs , Fox's , goats , rabbits and have not had a single problem , I replaced the string after around 400 shots and it was still in ok condition so I stick with what I think is quality and the 10 point has proved itself where as the ravin I've heard nothing but problems and string wear is a big deal for me as after 30 or so shots I don't want to be thinking is this the shot it's going to break and that is only the start of problems I've heard , 10 point have beefed up the strands in there strings for the 505
the insane speeds are overrated. You can get an xbow for $200 that can take down any game in north america. The crazy price tags on high end CBs are just a wank fest for old men with a few too many bob in the bank. if you're going to spend half a mortgage on a crossbow why don't you just buy a 1000 yard sniper or something for those dollars.
I agree to a degree.
Good job with the review, thank you. So many naysayers...
You're welcome
wtf, you dont have a drill to charge?😀
I think you will need a very very thick target to shoot that arrow in out of that crossbow.
One made for crossbows usually works
Hey man just check your video out thanks for all the information I am looking at buying a crossbow do you have personal recommendation on a crossbow I should buy that has good stuff with it with the scope and all the hardware any advice would be extremely helpful thanks a lot man appreciate it
Possibly the third fastest, mantis crossbows in the UK do two models, 500 and 600 fps with variable power, 👍
Interesting
Talisman mantis crossbow
No its not the fastest my Tenpoint Nitro 505 shoots at 517 fps with the same weight grain bolts.
Hell my $500 415 fps Killer Instinct crossbow shoots 3” groups at 75 yards. So what’s special other than 85 fps and $3500 and a crank cocking mechanism. Lol
It's a rip off
il take my mathews halon 32 any day over a crossbow lol
I just purchased my first TenPoint! The Nitro 505!
No problems with Nocks or arrows. My bow clocked 521 FPS with a 400 grain arrow. With the general rate of reduction formula, you loose 1-1.5 FPS for every 5 grains of additional arrow weight. That would put me between 504.5 to 509 FPS with a 455 grain arrow! That’s nuts!!
The 505 is the most researched crossbow that TenPoint has ever produced. Everything is beefed up and extremely strong.Even the strings and cables are thicker and heavier. The TenPoint Nitro 505 is winning the 500 war! With my 455 grain arrow I can produce over 250 ft lbs of kinetic energy and over 1.03 slug of momentum!
Cool
The ravin is alot more accurate though. You can reach a bit more precision by using heavier arrows on the nitro but the precision manufacturing of the ravin is just superior
Wow..I still have my old Tac 15 i...400fps..she's a collectors item now.
That is nuts!! Love it. I just hate how they still have a horrible stirrup thing on it when it doesn’t need one.
How good are they mate I love it , thought my nitro rdx was good , these ravine 500r are pieces of shit compared to the 505 , best crossbow on the market and in the world as far as I'm concerned...
Think my R29 with all factory bolts and feild points will give that kind of Performance at 80yrd's shooting off my barbeque grill and so far no issues 🤞🤞
Yup
Holy frig,,,,that thing looks like it from the movie "Alien",,,,,,,crazy
Yup
Prontissimi a vederla in azione dopo un lungo anno di pazienza….
I love it.nice cross bow
I like to get one.
L aspettiamo con entusiasmo anche in Italia!
Wonder if any of todays military use crossbows?
Yes French Foreign Legion still kill people ( or have the equipment to ) with crossbows if the mission call for it
How does it shoot freehanded with a rest or prop? What are your groups like?
More testing to come
Obviously he hasn't seen the tenpoint nitro 505 .... line these 2 crossbows up ... tenpoints strings last 10 × longer than the ravin , tenpoint shoots flatter and faster , tenpoints nitro 505 accuracy is better , comes out with a better scope aswell... picked up my 505 last week to replace my nitro rdx which I've had for 5-6 years without a single problem.. dropped deer and goats out to 100 yards if I couldn't get closer with a complete pass through with 3 blade snuffer ss 125 grn .. I loved the nitro rdx but my new crossbow makes it look ancient and I can't wait to see what it can do, shoots hole for hole at 50 yards.... was looking at the ravin 500r and wanted to get it with the battery and I waited and waited and I didn't hear a good thing about it, string wear after 20 shots so I stuck with what I know and what works for me.... happy hunting and stay safe... 🇦🇺
I got this just before the nitro came out I believe
I've shot my r29x and r500 atleast 150 times each and no problems yet took a big 11 last year with my r29x and 2 decent 8s with he r500 the tenpoints feel awkward to shoot I tested them all I'll be sticking with ravin without a doubt
Bolts are pieces of crap just like the r500
Bolts are garbage. The xbow seems ok but overpriced
Is this considered archery equipment?
In wyoming yes. By definition yes. It amazes me that something developed in the dark ages is so hated. Considering people use modern compound bows and act like they a trad guys from the 60s lol
And the safety is still in the worst spot.
Agreed
So is doing the same thing with my Excalibur Bulldog 400 off a BOG tripod ULTRA INSANE? Since it can shoot equally good groups at 80 yds without any cams and cables. And takes just as few shots to get dialed in for it.
Haha just messing. A crossbow shooting groups at 80 yards isn't insane. Guys been doing this for well over a decade.
What is insane about the R500 though is the amount of KE it has. Also the insane cost.
True 👍 however I previously usually only went out 40 or 50 yards with my old crossbows
@@Bullets4Bucks should have gone out further then ;)
That or your old crossbows were the conventional compounds with cables running under rail with lots of string downward pressure. They were more common for the longest time, but couldn't compete with Excalibur for accuracy. Only in recent years since compound crossbows have been balancing the cams have they been able to outdo the Excals for accuracy by a little bit.
I think Excalibur needs to do something other than the Twinstrike. The recurve has some limitations when it comes to advancing technology. I’d rather they focus on accuracy enhancement and stay with the other features they already have.
Excalibur big wide horrible limbs , noisy as hell , ugly as hell ... nitro rdx 6 years not a single problem, super narrow and accurate, just got the nitro 505 can't wait to see what it can do, rdx at 100yards complete pass through on deer and goats if I couldn't get any closer
I'm sorry, don't mean to upset anybody, but it all looks like crap to me. ...... For this kind of money everything needs to be top notch and no issues at all. .... If they make bolts like this, well I would have to wonder about the rest of the bow and how it is going to hold up? I do thank this gentleman for the honest review.
Truth
@@Bullets4Bucks Why would they start selling something that has a high failure rate, I mean when they did testing they must have had same issues. Don't get these companies, fix your products before selling, that way people don't get turned off by bad quality.
100% correct
Where is the electric cocking
Thats an additional add on I do not have
Exactly, I've been trying to find something on them but I can't because it's a piece of shit, string wears after 20 shots , my nitro 505 kills it , was thinking of buying the 500r glad I didn't
i thought it is electric?
The r500e is
@@Bullets4Bucks that makes sense, thankyou Sir 🙂
@@Bullets4Bucks so i just checked out the 'e' version, i am no arbalist, but i think i might see why you had the other version
Been watching this Bow since it came out. Seems everything under 400fps is being given away. No doubt this is a BEAST of an XBOW, based on ALL the info looking seriously at this but it is still pricey for me. The cost of the newest and the BEST. The NITRO is 505 fps, squeaking out all they can on this platform.
Its overpriced and has bolt issues
Which one has bolt issues? Ravin r500?
@@alansousa2488 yes
The Nitro 505 commonly produces speed over 510 FPS with a 400 gr. Arrow.
The highest velocity I’ve heard of was 520 FPS. There is also a 450 gr arrow offering that is between 495-498 FPS, with kinetic energy of over 242 lbs.
I must say, I’ve been a Ravin fan for a long time. I think TenPoint has them beat so far on this one. If the R500 produces better overall accuracy over time than the TenPoint, it will give them some redemption. If not, TenPoint wins the 500 race hands down.
@@Bullets4Bucks would you say the r29x is more worth its like 1k less and I feel like it would be good enough for me but I don't know
Broken stock after first time used of it, Ravin replied screw was not installed! What a carelessness 🥹 #R500 #Ravincrossbows if you don’t believe me contact me I will send you detail information!
Wow yeah im dissatisfied with their qc
