  • Installing a Sliding Window on my Entry Door. Truck Camper Mods
The screen door prohibits access to the window on camper entry door. From the inside, I had to open the entry door and screen door in order to install or remove my reflectix.
Now, we have the screen door removed and this larger window that opens with a screen.
Purchased the window on eBay for around $120.

Works better for me this way. The screen was always in the way…. The larger window is great.

This is something I really am wanting to do too my 865 Arctic Fox, I'll most likely keep my screen door but I love the flexibility of having the option to open my door all the way using my screen door or just use the screen windows, thank you so much for the idea, now I just need find out if they offer a window that would fit my 865. Thanks again, blessings

I looked all over for a sliding window that would fit my original cutout. No luck. This one is quite a bit taller but same width as the old one. I like not having a screen door so I can open the window, pull the shade etc without needing to open the door to get around a screen door.

Looks fantastic! Not sure about giving up my screen door though, could you have kept it had you wanted to?

Yes, but the main reason I did this modification was to get rid of the screen door. There’s no access to the window in the main entry door with a screen door there. I like to open/close the window, open/close blinds without having to open the entry door first.

I think it is the Cirrus Nucamp pickup camper that has the sliding screen door. Nice innovative design. Anyway, nice work. On a side note, I have the Lance 1181 with a slide same side as yours. I'm not a fan of slides. I have had two 5th wheels, & on more than one occasion I've had to crank them in manually. I've even had to do it on my Lance camper. Could you reallisticly take the slide out completely, frame it in, and use the existing sidewall & put it back in place? Mine holds the dinnette & fridge.

I’m sure it could be done. On mine, the Slideout mechanism is under the raised slideout floor along with wiring and the gas line for the furnace so the floor would need to be left raised up.
Depending on the model year of your Lance, the sidewall framing may be wood with foam insulation. (Pre 2007 models) in 2008 & 2009, Lance switched over to aluminum framed sidewall construction using Azdel composite panels instead of Luan plywood behind the fiberglass siding. (Vacuum bonded sidewall.)

@@covetthecamper2289 I think my camper is 2009. Yea, it was just an idea. I'm thinking of selling it & getting a camper without a slide in it.

I’ve had that thought as well. I really like the Bigfoot and Northern Lite campers. Full fiberglass two-piece construction just like a boat. I’d go that route if I had chance to do it again
