Testing the new 5000 BTU Air Conditioner in the Truck Camper. Harvesting Water?
Переглядів 4,8 тис.Рік тому
Getting the new air conditioner tested and installed into the camper. This little Frigidaire 5000 btu air conditioner is the perfect size for our camper. The old roof mounted Coleman Mach was just too loud and too big for this camper. I'm wiring and plumbing this smaller air conditioner in so that it can run off of our inverter and solar panels. I'm also figuring out how I can harvest the water...

Ford 6.0 Coolant Filter • What’s Inside After 9 Months? This is the 3rd coolant filter I’ve changed on my 6.0 Powertroke. I usually change it at around 9-12 months of use. It’s still pulling sand out of the engine block. I’ve done a complete and thorough coolant flush and switched to ELC several years ago when I did the new OEM oil cooler & Bulletproof EGR cooler upgrade. (I did the stand pipes...

Installing a Sliding Window on my Entry Door. Truck Camper Mods The screen door prohibits access to the window on camper entry door. From the inside, I had to open the entry door and screen door in order to install or remove my reflectix. Now, we have the screen door removed and this larger window that opens with a screen. Purchased the window on eBay for around $120. 13.5" Width x 37.5" Height...

Great job! Thank you for sharing this information and video!
Did you use the same size plywood as original?1/2” or 3/8”?
didn't really show how you load it - just putting some boards under it
So from 4:26 to 5:21 you must have missed…. 🤷🏼♂️
What are the mounting blocks on the roof made out of?
Way to much talking..and wasted time..
In the winter, just flip that puppy around and cover the front which is now out front, and its a heat pump, it will heat faster and more efficient than an electric heater! Ive tested this with infrared and its Awesome!!
Just use an electric blanket. Less energy usage and it does a great job.
I don’t know if you’re serious, but I like the idea. Is there a way to control the temp?
@@thomasmurray4717it really works, and a heck of a lot quicker per my infrared camera, it's controled manually unfortunately I haven't been able to figure out the thermostat yet
Is there any reason why I couldn't hang a trouble light with an incandescent 60 watt bulb? This would only be for a month or two until we headcout to warmer temperatures.
Dumb question here: This obviously weighs too much too install in a regular car or even RV Window right? at over 40 lbs even when used in park mode for say 2 or 3 days at a time, won't the weight be too much for long term use on the window door frame before warping or compromising the integrity structure of the window frame?
You can simply reinforce it.
Where do you vent the water?
I have the same unit in a 12K btu ... Great little units
Thank you for the video! We need installation details. What about condensation? Where does the air come from at the side and top A/C vents?
Very useful research, thank you very much!
What are the sizes for those small lugs you used to hardwire those 3 wires to the inverter? Thanks
Hey, where did you go???
Where did you buy the fiberglass panel?
Damn it..wasted my time..didnt install in a van .😟😡
I love it! You did a great job. Thanks for sharing. I will be adding this to my truck camper.
May you never have to deal with the special hell that is Renogy's customer service.
That's not a circuit breaker it's a GFI for ground faults. 73
Pretty cool test- i would have thought it used way more- it opens up more possibilities for vanlifers.
Thanks so much for sharing this.
Have the Ko2s. Looks great. Runs smoother than I thought. But man the gas mileage suffered a good -5 mpg compared to stock tires on my half ton.
For the double light fixtures, I swapped them out with “CT CAPETRONIX RV Lights Interior 1700LM, 3 Color TEM Camper Lights”. They were about $10 each. 3 lites temp, dimmable, real nice option.
A word of caution for the lights with added usb charging capability. These are typically underwired for the current that charges your phone, can get hot/melt lead to a bad day.
I have had Torklift upper stableloads on my 2017 F350, 7 years and they are in great shape. Your upper overload spring is not designed to carry the whole load all of the time. If they are then you are definitely overweight.
The only mistake was not smrunning the slide in and out several times before putting the fabric retention screws in (Per the instructions). This lets the fabric end settle in its best position and minimizes the tendency for minor diagonal ripples over time.
You make no sense. It was too cold in your garage. Are you running in the wintertime or summer? So if it's cold in your garage, that's a good thing, right?
Great idea, but is there a reason why you didn’t spread the sawhorses space between the dually wider ( greater than 2” inches margin) so not to be so tight when you pull in and out with your truck?
Thank you
Great idea, will be my next project - want to be 100% sure my water storage is clean.
Im in the process of doing the same thing. So much more up and down work, time and money than expected. Looks like your doing a great job.
this will help me to get the job done
Love the ac unit video. How do you handle the condensation? Do you have any videos of the installation? I have a 1986 cab over pop up camper that I need to install a/c unit on… thanks for the videos…😊
Thanks for sharing! I like the free boondocking spot you found. Also, try the hike up to Heart Lake from Castle Lake (about 45 minutes up) and that will give you an even better view of Lassen AND Shasta!
I purchased second hand a 8' camper shell that had set on cross runners like this and found that the rear door had warped from sitting under a tree and the sun. The rear glass door would never close properly. I recommend storing a topper with 4 pads on the top of ceiling of topper.
Excellent video. Thank you
Only wish you had demonstrated it, just wondering how damaged yours were compared to mine. Great info though!
Great I need one to my jackery 1000❤
You did a great job!! I just wished you had showed more on how to physically use each product.. And what to use to apply it. Thank~you🌻
This is more efficient than an ecoflow air conditioner using dc...and a 3rd of the price. Both are at 5000 btu. Any body come up with a DIY hoses for these window ac?
@@rogerdayton sure I believe you without any documentation of your own. Care to elaborate?
@@DoritosResidue I delete my response. I thought you were saying the ecoflow was more efficient.
So mine works but after about 20-30 seconds after stopping airflow the compressor kicks on for 1-2 seconds and then cuts off and continues Is this normal? I assumed it would stay off completely until I engaged air flow. Or is it just losing pressure somewhere?
Is there a way of just fixing the nob? Mine just spins and the lid won't open.
just the diy design i was looking for thanx
Everything buy from here on shall be as energy efficient as possible. Who knows what I want to bring for some off grid camping!
Dont keep telling us just show us
Going through a process of measuring, documenting construction, assembly methods used, sourcing of acceptable replacement materials, all would have been so much more helpful. The constant look how broke this is, becomes really distracting. Yup its all coming out would have been enough. Your rebuild talents must be such that you have faith in re-buildability.
Brilliant idea/mod. Well done! Happy camping! 😊
5000 btu ac draws only 5 amp ac. I think if you have 4 solar panels 1.2kw and 200 amp lithium batteries and keeping air cooling low probably get you 10-12 hours of use.
That's a great idea putting the A/C on a table with the window. Still blows hot air outside. May make the unit more efficient when indoor temperature lowers and the A/C sucks in cooler air.
And what type of inverter are you using
