Being racist isn't a good thing in most places.
Racism:
The belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another.
I think it's sad.
frfr XD but i peeped how the girl in black shirt and blue jeans was slipping in and out or saying sum racist xD
Its because white people are called racist just for being white most of the time. Its a stereotype that they dont want to be associated with.
because people nowadays are snowflakes and they’ll cancel you for saying anything on the borderline of racism
There is no such thing as "reverse" racism, it's just racism
Of course it's all racism but it's just a way to specify a certain type of racism, like reverse psychology.
@@AdamT-mv3ok "reverse racism" doesnt differ from just "racism" though, racism just means discrimination/prejudice based on someones race. So "reverse" is just completely useless and makes no sense for the definition
@@oooooba8343 Look it's upto you if you don't want you use that term but it's just a way to specify it which could be useful in certain contexts. Like I gave the example of reverse psychology, it's still psychology nonetheless.
@@AdamT-mv3ok yeah but it makes no sense since its not "reverse" anything, if the definition of racism is discrimination / prejudice based on someones race then how does that term make any sense since it would just be racism.

We always do when it comes to races.. it is not because of the video, but we live like that. Our ancestors made huge disgusting mistakes but not us however we still have to be shamed by them. 4:22 Personally, saying "I don't see color" doesn't mean I'm ignoring your cultures and background differences in a conversation and are not to be respected. I think most people just use it as a way to say " I don't judge you BECAUSE of your color".
Well society does, so the phrase ‘i don’t see colour’ is very ignorant as you are choosing to ignore what is inherent within society. If everyone chooses that they ‘don’t see colour’ then how does change occur?? The only way to insight change to better marginalised groups within society is beginning with understanding racial disparities and working to fix them.
@@racheallawal5979 Me saying I dont see color doesn't mean your cultures and backgrounds are insignificant to me. It just means I'm not gonna make assumptions and judge someone's entire personality or being because they are black or white or Hispanic, etc.
Growing up in a highly mixed placed made me forever think in shades of color not in "black/white" and until I got into internet I thought It was this way all around the world. I'm starting to feel like many Americans don't realise that not everyone is American
I fee you comment is very true. As a white well traveled abroad American this is a true statement. My first experience outside of the US I was in shock. There is a high sense of entitlement, I believe we are raised this way. I learned through travel and conversation this is a bad attitude to have
@@kristiemiller4752 Yeah, I just feel like their interpretation of racism only applies to America. I find it ironic that the guy who said he was of Irish descent said white people have never been oppressed. I'm mixed raced (British/Irish-Ghanaian etc.) and as recently as the 1960s signs all across London would say "No Blacks, No Irish, No Dogs" The Irish, Slavs, Armenian (all white people) were all oppressed yet because it didn't happen in America these people are clueless on this subject. Even now there is so much anti polish/eastern European sentiment across the U.K.!
Kweku 7123 that's a great example of how many Americans aren't well educated on culture beyond their own backyard. If the social media doesn't say it, than it never happened. But I think one very important factor to remember is that in the US many are pushing a agenda that it's shameful to be white, our colleges are pushing this agenda and I feel public schools as well. I do think we need more unity and cultural awareness, but this comes with education. As you pointed out with your example of the Irish, no blacks or dogs. Many have given up on humanity. It's very sad to be honest, I'm American and alway will be, however; I pride myself on being educated and cultured. This is also how I raise my son.
@lygophile I mean I kinda always knew this but this video made it very clear!
Kweku 7123 Yes I definitely agree with this, but this take place in America, it’s an American channel, thus it’s supposed to be talking ab American issues. They’re not gonna make a video about American talking about your countries issues. It doesn’t make sense.
These are awesome! This is EXACTLY what we need societally! Someone needs to open up the conversations that are uncomfortable so that we can talk about them & appeal to one another's consciousness. Great job! 🩷

What exactly about white history or culture should we be proud of though? Saying I’m a proud [other race] person is saying that they’re proud to be who they are despite the fact that they’ve been oppressed/faced systemic racism/been demonized for their skin color. I can say Im a proud Ukranian, proud college graduate, proud single mom, proud woman, etc. because those are things that are difficult but I persevered through. Saying “Im proud to be white” is like saying “Im a proud blue-eyed person”. I don’t see it as anything to be proud of because I never had to struggle or be hated on because of my skin or eye color, and no one sees me in a negative way for those things.

There’s a difference between sharing the culture and using it as a costume and further not knowing anything about it.
What I’m trying to say is that addressing it is fine too. People might learn from it. :)
@@crate249 So if a person was muslim and they got offended that someone dressed up with clothing from their culture and they were offended, how would you respond?
@@crate249 I disagree. I am not Japanese, but I am an African/Jamaican American (mixed). In the Nigerian culture, we see a lot of cultural dresses, with tons of patterns and many different colors. Imagine, a white child (this is an example), who by the way is not at all African, dresses up in one of them for fun, how am I going to feel? These patterns have different symbolic messages, and so many years of oppression and work, and represents my culture, and she is wearing it. Like, if she thinks it’s cute, you know, that’s okay, like I’m happy she likes it, but when she steps out of her place, dressing up in a COSTUME, when this is something so culturally important to me and my family, think about how that makes me feel? You might be comfortable with different people wearing geishas, but I don’t think it is considered sharing the culture. Sharing the culture, you know, for example food. We have all eaten food from another ethnicity if that makes sense, but sharing culture apparently now includes clothing? Even if the girl knew the background of these symbolic dresses in my culture, you think that’s supposed to make me feel better? She knows it’s history, yet still decided to wear it for Halloween. And I’m not just speaking about Halloween, in fact, this should be taken in general. We see white people wearing head scarfs/hats of other cultures. How can somebody be okay with cultural appropriation. I know you are entitled to your own opinion, but look at it from another Japanese person’s perspective. If you go on google right now, and search up African Dress, the first thing that pops up is SHEIN, with a white person wearing what is supposedly, an African dress. Now, this isn’t even close to sharing culture. That is somebody remaking it, and naming it “SHEIN Tribal & Striped Print Coat & Pants Set”. Like, I understand where you’re coming from, you see people wearing geishas, and look at it like, they like the clothing, so it’s not a big deal if they want to wear it. Well, pretty much, just be more considerate, because you may think it is not a big deal, but always try to see it from another perspective. Cultural appropriation is real, and I feel like more people need to see it.

What I don't understand is the guy that claimed Irish heritage said stuff about never being oppressed, maybe not him personally but as a whole the Irish culture also took a pretty hard beating from the British colonisation, the Irish were stripped of lands, opportunity and so much more. Wow y’all are actually racist
So sad to see people feel guilt for something that's not in their hands, you can see how much careful they're trying to be. They're scared.
well that’s they fault i hope they continue to feel guilty
@Andrew Walker well i hope you know before you tryna comment because that’s not true
@@dopeplanetwatcher4471 LOL it absolutely is true, you think Europeans haven’t been enslaved in the Muslim world ? Even the slaves that had been brought to America were sold by African slavers
@@dopeplanetwatcher4471it was black people that sold black people to whites.
Like Kanye said: "Black people hate black people more than any other race!"
It's sad but true.
@@dopeplanetwatcher4471 White people were enslaved during the Ottoman slave trade, Asian people used to be enslaved in Afganistan and Iran, Asian people were also sold as slaves in Mexico, etc. It takes literally a couple google searches
Great conversation 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 more of this.
As a white person, this was cringe af.
Especially as a European. "Do white people have a culture", what kind of question even is this?
I HATED how Almost ALL OF THEM said they weren’t proud to be white. These people shouldn’t be ashamed about these kinds of things.
@@josh_withadog6054 I feel the same way! It feels actually a little self hatey for them to be against themselves so much. Like. Love yourself a little. Be more mature.
As a person of colour, the blatant "white guilt" of some of these people is disgusting af
Chidori457 Good for you! 😊 but just a reminder.. we are all the same. Skin color doesn’t define us as humans. We all still eat the same.
The one girl said Hispanics racially stereotyped her but she kept using black people as an example.. there’s some animosity😂🤨
Fr
Omg I was like you talking about Hispanics so why are you bringing up black people.🧐
@@chloeparchman7343 right!
I LITERALLY SAID THIS LIKE WHATT?
fr
Many people would be happy and respectful to you based on who you are on the inside - your heart, character, etc.
If I am around people even those of my own race and they are so focused on skin color and appearance, I am going to keep my distance from them.
I don't really associate with ignorant people.
The first question is kinda like yeah duh, we do. Literally everything has a culture around it from where we are from to what we do on the weekends. Culture is just who we are not some complex thing.
"I think there's a difference between respecting the culture and completely disrespecting the culture"
oh wow
incredibly groundbreaking observation amanda
I think she meant that there is a difference between embracing the culture and making fun of it. She got the right intentions just the wrong idea.
i cant stand herrrr, she tried to compare cultural appropriation to pirates LMAO
Ikr and plus a pirate is different bc that isnt culture that isnt a race.
😂😂😭😭😭😭
Yeah I was like -_- duh
I didn’t know racism could be reversed like a uno card
Anyone can be racist against anyone. Racism isn't just only one race being racist against the other/others. It's ALL races, any race can be racist to any race.
Bobby Bobby Can you please explain how White people have been marginalized in the US by racism?
@@anewfuture I am not sure what social circle you run in, but you can definitely have conflict with non-White people and not be labeled racist (obviously as long as it's not in a bigoted way).
Furthermore, simply being branded "racist" is not the same thing as being marginalized. Have there been policies put in place to prohibit the advancement of White people in the US specifically?
Moreover, which "mainstream" of the US are White people deemed inferior?
P.S. I legitimately cannot understand how anyone can state that White people in the US of all places are marginalized by racism of all things. I am definitely not a troll.
@@Stella3014 He never said white people are marginalized, he said racism towards whites is marginalized by using condescending, incorrect terms like "reverse racism".
I'm genuinely curious what laws are in place keeping minorities from advancement. People always say this then quote defunct laws.
Ya I thought racism meant " a person thinks their race is better than another race." Not " a white guy thinks their race is better."
Really interesting, you get to see how many of them have really thought about it for whatever reason. Denim guy, Black Jacket Girl and Black Sweater Girl all went pretty deep, however I think all of them were totally valid to speak as they did. Flowery dress girl just as much as the rest was expressing how nuanced things can be.
I wish this video was called "Do all white people FROM THE US think the same?"
Edit: Just to be clear, I didn't mean that there's no racism outside of the US. Of course white people are still privileged, but this video is extremely US-centric
yes
Yes!!!!!
in my opinion, not really. many white people from different countries hold the same beliefs as a white american person would.

Same, I’m mixed too, (white and brown). I wish they’d make a video like this but with biracial white people bc it’s weird being apart of the ethnic majority but also an ethnic minority at the same time.
"I'm hella Irish Obviously" said in the most american Accent
I know I'm from Ireland really annoys me when americans pretend to be Irish gets under my skin
HHA TRUE
he meant irish descent.. he is american btw
@@panniniparenthood7041 when Americans are talking to other Americans about where their families come from saying "I'm Irish" means "I am of Irish descent". Irish Americans have a specific culture within America and they are signaling that they identify with that group. That has a specific meaning to Americans and doesn't have to be explicitly explained to other Americans. If someone was speaking directly to you, they wouldn't actually think they're Irish and they also wouldn't say it that way. They would probably say something like "my family came from Ireland." I think your offense is coming from a misunderstanding of the intent of that statement in context.
It is just weird to an European. That an American claims they are still some sort of European while having little understanding of European culture nowadays. Also if they said 'My ancestors are (for example) Irish' No one would care. Just putting it in a relation with your birthplace and nationality while making it sound equal is weird to most of us.
The first blond girl is soooo influenced by others
Definitely agree, she would make a lot of her decisions based on the girl wearing jeans, she also said a lot of times that because someone else said this is ok then that makes it ok.
Yet isn’t exactly like one
naive
Which ones the first one
I agree.
I really like that some of them changed their opinions after listening to what others had to say. It goes to show how much more effective it is to raise awareness about racism coming from another white person
Ive never seen weaker men in my life
the white guilt in this is..... tiring
yet, it is non-white people who make white people feel that guilt
Alessia Guaiani obviously Idk where you’re from but honestly from my experience as a black person I’ve seen mostly white ppl harping on other white ppl and getting offended “on behalf” of other groups. For example A lot of black ppl Ik couldn’t rlly care less just don’t be racist and thats basically it. No need to walk on egg shells

As a mixed black person this is kind of sad that white people can’t be proud that they are white but black or Hispanic or Asian people they can be proud all they want
Yep😢
They can be proud. That has nothing to do with any other communities.
I am more then proud. I go to an engineering school and realised very quickly that 90% of all important inventions are white made. We literally builded the world

Bruh, they brought millennials and gen z people. Imagine if the brought boomers or silent generation adults.
what about Gen X?
I'm a gen z but i think basically nothing like these people. They've gotten people indoctrinated by political correctness for the most part.

@ThePHiLsTeR No it's not. Gen X are before millenials. Millennials are those born from 1981 to 1995.

I was on the whole other side of the board than all of them for most of this video. You can be proud of who you are even if you are white. telling somebody they shouldn't be proud of who they are because of their skin color is insulting no matter who it is directed toward.
Asking white millennials questions vs white people from other generations would be interesting.
Nevermore I have a past, a strong family background, but I wouldn’t say it’s a culture.
That's a good one
white americans, white eurpoeans and white australia's are three completely different types of people and have completely different cultures and beliefs

That girl in the dress is the only decent person there.
Why don't we try this again, with with more diverse "white" people and more educated people 🥴
Omg yes. I know for a fact white southerners would disagree on the culture one.
Why not get one white person from each part of the United States as opposed to just the East Coast where most people are very liberal and very white shaming.
Or better yet make the questions more specific to white Americans as opposed to just "white". Cause that covers A LOT of people from all over the globe.
