I will try making money next to watch you guys I love your videos serious ones and non serious I feel like I'm close to your channel and videos kinda creepy💀
Not a fair measure. Most of the world's population lived under some form of capitalism from 1700s to 1930s. From the 1930-90s most lived under socialist politicians.
Not gonna lie at this point jubilee should just do actual debates and allow the guest to prepare and come with both statistics and anecdotes that way you get the numbers and reality side of whatever topic it is
Well plenty of their guests come on prepared. Two on the capitalism side are political pundits online, and so is at least one on the communism side. These videos usually 50% or more of them come in with the talking points ready to go.
Again, this series desperately needs: 1) Live fact checking 2) Better moderation 3) Better preparation from the participants (encourage them to come with stats and articles and numbers) So many of these discussions go off the rails bc people are saying things that either aren't true or aren't on prompt and it's so frustrating.
Often times it seems like they select people who are knowledgeable on their opinion, only on one side, just like in the Palestine one a few days ago. They should have had Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank, who had lived experiences to speak. Not “my aunt” story. The amount of lies that went unchecked was gross.
They cast actors and influencers for these debates. Some they call in multiple times for different topics. They actually need to get knowledgeable experts to debate these topics.
It’s really annoying when a conversation starts actually getting somewhere or someone is making their point and they eventually just cut to the next prompt. They’ve done it much more often recently and then started charging you to go watch their full version. I don’t want to pay for the full version if it’s still gonna be lackluster question topics, people consistently cutting each other off with no moderation and their arguments eventually getting cut off to get to the next topic. I would pay/support if it meant the quality would be better but it’s literally the same video with an extra topic.
If you can't afford $3 a month to distract yourself with pseudo-intellectual gratification, you should be Intellectually Present in your real life. Get your money up, not your funny up.
I was born in Cuba and lived there until I escaped to the US as a refugee at age 21. My parents were doctors, and we could barely have enough food. Our medical system was extremely bad. I worked at a military hospital for 2 years and we had a really bad health system.
Lee Harvey Oswald loved the idea of Communism so much he defected to the Soviet Union. Not too long after defecting he wrote a (I don’t know what I was thinking) letter to the Embassy in Moscow. I’m sure he had to kiss someone’s @$$, but he made it back to our capitalist country. He stated he loved the idea of Communism, but he didn’t like living under Communist rule.
I feel like jubilee should have a mediator that makes sure no one gets interrupted and an after credits where everyone’s points are fact-checked. I can see these videos being educational in seeing other perspectives but I think Jubilee need to make sure misinformation isn’t being spread.
@@jonathanlee-cf1vf Making sure people are able to finish what they are saying & correcting any possible, or even perceived, mistakes after people have been able to say what they want is not an imposition on free speech. These days, I would be concerned about the accuracy of the "fact checking", but even if the fact checking was entirely misrepresenting the facts of the topic, it still wouldn't be an imposition on the participant's freedom to say what they wish as long as it allowed them to say what they wish &, I would argue, didn't deceptively edit that. Am I misunderstanding what you were describing in your comment?
Agree. Basically, Jubilee just lets these people come in and argue with each other. There’s always one loud mouthed person who talks over everyone else and interrupts. I would just like them to have a freaking mediator at this point so that everyone can get a chance to speak.
The problem with fact-checking is that for a lot of things in economics, there is a ton of mixed evidence. In an economy, there's a million and one variables, and those are very hard to control for. It would also put a lot of pressure on Jubilee, making them act as an arbiter of truth.

I would’ve loved if a moderator came in and gave explicit definitions of capitalism and communism because they are not universally agreed upon in general, and I’m sure even in this small sample size, most of them would not agree on a single definition.
@@ViVeriVniversvmVivusViciFunny you say that considering how communists think cronyism and corporatism is capitalist. And the weird communist girl thinks North Korea isn’t communist. Plus Hannah said the definition multiple times are you deaf.
@@ViVeriVniversvmVivusVicii don't think that's fair. As a socialist, I've found it very frustrating to have capitalists define what socialism is. So yeah, Mao did actually radically improve the chinese economy. but there is more to the story than just that because of all of the other wild stuff about Mao as a leader. But dont throw the baby out with the bath water. He had a point with that one.
Completely disagree. Just look at the fact checking sites we have now that have a clear bias. I think we should let the conversation stand for itself without the channel going “um actually, according to cherry-picked sources, this is incorrect”
I disagree, placing the burden of fact checking on jubilee is a dangerous thing. They’re supposed to only be the medium, if they suddenly begin shutting people down, the conversation would devolve. Secondly, certain so called “fact checkers” might have vested interest in individual subjects. In the end, the responsibility of fact checking always comes back to you.
I really wish the moderators kept them on track for each question. It’s so frustrating watching everyone interrupt/talk over each other. I would love to see people who are able to have a debate without getting so worked up they don’t allow the other side to talk.
It’s so annoying. It doesn’t feel like a debate. It feels like they just sit people down to argue with each other and there’s always one loud mouthed person who cuts other people off constantly and talks more than anyone else.
@@pinkmama6077 I can see your point in diving deeper on a topic, but a huge annoyance (for me) is when everyone is talking over one another and you can’t hear any of the points, or some people are unheard. Also, a lot of these people aren’t experts and when some state “facts” they refuse to back it up (in some videos) which is also interesting.
As someone who's been watching this channel for a while: does Jubilee read their comments? I see so many comments about wanting more qualified people, more moderation, or real statistics, but every video seems the same. I wish the debates had more concrete structure:/ Would be so great to see more videos like the flat earther one where actual academics come on the show to talk, or at least have more fact checks on the screen when someone talks about a stat/fact
Mmm I don’t know. How many people making these comments actually watch debates. Middle ground is not a debate. It’s people’s opinions. It’s a different thing. If you want to see a debate you can find many online
Podcasts are what's in and i don't understand why yall cut these videos down to a fraction of what is recorded. You can make a part 2 and 3 idc as long as we get more discussion. The way yall have it now is more like a taste testing of productive conversations. And if it isn't productive then you need to find better guests by hiring a better person to screen.
Molomo trying his hardest to play the nice guy but being extremely condescending and not taking into any consideration any of the points being mentioned is crazyyyy.
He definitely has a persecution complex. Super transparent when he tried to tell one of the capitalists that she was being "demeaning" when she was defining communism.
He's insufferable. "stop interrupting" as he interrupts everyone else. Then he totally agrees that government aid makes people lazy but he's supposed to be a Communist?
He acts so politically correct but I got such misogynistic vibes from him. The way he continually puts his hand over his mouth and smirks when Hannah starts to speak… so rude.
You know manipulative bad people always try to play the victim and use the empathy and naivety of people in their favor... always have to fear the wolf in the Little red ridinh hood.
I have loved middle ground for years now, and this has been one of the most unsuccessful videos in the series yet. I am 36:00 minutes in and there has been zero moderation, zero compromise, and they cut to the next prompt before anyone has made and clarified their point. Don’t you WANT us to see people coming together; having respectful and thoughtful conversations; so we can learn more about people from both sides and understand where they’re coming from? It will be a really sad day when jubilee succumbs to the pressure of creating clickbait instead of creating content that can truly change the world for the better…

Have you seen modern college and high school debate clubs? They completely ignore the subject and instead accuse each other of having too much privilege.
that's actually why I love these debates they feel human I think when someone is passionate about something they cant always be patient I see your point but sometimes I find it annoying and sometimes I love it
While I generally enjoyed this debate. One thing that frustrated me like crazy was Molombo acting like a de-facto moderator in this debate where he was picking and choosing what people should answer so that he could control the narrative. It prevented the debate from being as free-flowing as it should be.
It’s interesting you mention controlling the narrative.. I wonder what capitalists do… There was also most definitely a moderator, they just didn’t have to moderate because the group did that for them.
You’ll notice in other Jubilee videos the moderator only comes in when no one can be heard or get a word out because everyone is talking at the same time. I think this group did a great job at giving everyone time to speak, especially because Molombo set the tone for that.
@@emouraaaawhy does it matter whom controls the tone? It’s a debate not a conversation. Spoken like a true communist. Preach freedom then turn around and take it away. Im here to add fuel to the fire and agree that Jubilee has to start doing better with these conversations. Feels like its more debate centered rather than "can we find something these people can agree on". Dont think organization and allowing for clear arguments would hurt viewership.
The number of times Molombo dodged or deflected the topic/issue 😂 I can't believe he didn't get called out on that sooner. It took almost the entire episode before someone addressed it (Hannah, with the capitalism & slavery thing).
Molombo is the personification of the righteous, pretentious, virtual signaling narcissist if there ever was one. None of these American hating people would last a single month in the countries their grandparents came from.
Capitalism is the son of slavery. It’s a very similar exploitative system which exploits the lower class and is in complete control. How do you quantify the value of someone’s work or ability to work? The same system exploited minorities for years after slavery was abolished thru contracts with former slaves. You still have modern day slavery through capitalism via private prisons. Honestly brother molombo probably knew all that. He probably didn’t wanna go there on the slavery topic seeing as he’s the only brother there.
A lot of people who get upset about Capitalism are younger and haven’t established themselves financially yet. But when they grow older and start having to pay more taxes there is a shift. Especially when they wake up and realize that politicians are spending their money foolishly, and not holding corporations to account because they are allowed to accept money from these entities to get voted into power. Then they turn around and implement more taxation in the form of vehicle registration hikes, gas prices, sales tax, and home value reassessments etc. that rob both the rich and the poor, sometimes equally. Then they moan about businesses price gouging but do little to change it rather than running on change (to make you feel like they realize the problem) then do little to nothing to change it. Sad.
She seriously don't know the difference between an economic system and a governing system. She is saying north Korea can't be communist because it's a dictatorship and said it with a straight face. People don’t realise that a dictatorship is an extreme version of a system that makes it impossible for the country to change its ways. There are capitalist dictatorships too, which is where an entire country is extremely into capitalism. The capitalist extremism works with democracy, so the rights of people aren’t being infringed like the communist extremist countries. Honestly they need to do a middle ground where communists living under capitalism debate defectors of communist countries on the communist system. For the communists under capitalism side they should get an… -American -British -Australian -Israeli -South Korean -person from Botswana -New Zealander For the defectors of communist countries they should get a… -Chinese -Russian -Cuban -Arab -North Korean -person from Laos -Vietnamese
I love rants like this, like the capitalist in this video did several times, when there based off faulty logic. She didn't say "it can't be" she just said it wasn't.
I thought it was crazy she was trying to define terms so they could all agree on the terms that were being debated, and Molombo just squashed that part of the conversation and talked over her.
That's because Hannah's "definition of terms" were obviously incorrect for anyone with even a modicum of understanding of political theory. Not to mention the fact that she regularly backtracked / contradicted her own statements constantly.

One of the skills you should learn in debating is understanding which questions you should answer in order to continue a benefitial debate. Not every question is to be answered.
Molombo was so rude and talked down to the other people during the entire video. It was so obnoxious hearing him say “that’s a trap, I’m not answering that haha!”, but 20 minutes beforehand basically laughed at someone when they fell into HIS verbal trap

While some subjects have focused on conservative parents versus liberal children, for example, other panels like this too easily fall into stereotypes of age with one side obviously middle-aged and the other young adult. Even down to the way they dressed enforces the rise of ageism related to social media and boomer, millenial, gen x, and gen z cultures. I don’t think so; as someone who’s beginning his career in philosophy, most of the times we don’t debate, we dialogue -that is to say, we give our opinions on the subject and listen carefully to each others points without trying to reach a certain conclusions. That format is more productive than an open debate, because no one cares about winning; instead, we want to know if we are wrong or if someone from a different perspective has an interesting idea.
I’m not a capitalist but Hannah was based sometimes tbh. Like how she was against paying so much for war out of our taxes and being against corporate welfare
Thanks! I think progressives and libertarians have a lot of overlap on civil liberties and foreign policy. And in my experience, when we can really dig into the problems in the US (I don't think we got to here) I think most will find big gov and spending are our core problems, not capitalism.
Corporate welfare is an inevitability in capitalism. The people that own the most land, and have the biggest businesses will always hold the most power in a capitalist society.
Hannah really stood her ground when Molombo brought up a topic he decided was "too spicy" for him when he got fed with logic. Also noticed she said "I got you" like Molombo did earlier towards Cam with his condescending grin. The other 2 on the communist side were much more respectful I actually heard them out.

Absolutely agree
Not a fair measure. Most of the world's population lived under some form of capitalism from 1700s to 1930s. From the 1930-90s most lived under socialist politicians.
Capitalists came with facts. Communists came with feelings.
Not gonna lie at this point jubilee should just do actual debates and allow the guest to prepare and come with both statistics and anecdotes that way you get the numbers and reality side of whatever topic it is
Yesssss!!!
Well plenty of their guests come on prepared. Two on the capitalism side are political pundits online, and so is at least one on the communism side. These videos usually 50% or more of them come in with the talking points ready to go.
I liked how they did it with Undecided where there was a moderator up there with them keeping everyone on track and asking follow-up questions.
I absolutely agree they both get sited information and also are able to know the prompts as well as have fact on hands!!
yes, its embarrassing when one side is so ill prepared they get absolutely bodied
Again, this series desperately needs:
1) Live fact checking
2) Better moderation
3) Better preparation from the participants (encourage them to come with stats and articles and numbers)
So many of these discussions go off the rails bc people are saying things that either aren't true or aren't on prompt and it's so frustrating.
@@cutewithoutheetbs0282 read my comment above
You need live fact checking because you lack underlying knowledge. Stop being lazy and inform yourself first before you form uninformed opinions 😁
They cast actors and influencers for these debates. Some they call in multiple times for different topics. They actually need to get knowledgeable experts to debate these topics.
We can fact check, can't we?
It’s really annoying when a conversation starts actually getting somewhere or someone is making their point and they eventually just cut to the next prompt. They’ve done it much more often recently and then started charging you to go watch their full version. I don’t want to pay for the full version if it’s still gonna be lackluster question topics, people consistently cutting each other off with no moderation and their arguments eventually getting cut off to get to the next topic. I would pay/support if it meant the quality would be better but it’s literally the same video with an extra topic.

Idk if the video was overly edited, but the communists kept steering the conversation and eliminated all potential of a productive conversation.

Sad.
