This game was released around the same time as Diablo 3. It clearly still holds great value. Got it for pc and switch on day one!

Ya you should definitely get it! They're working on Torchlight Frontier, this will be an MMO. I played the alpha, it looks promising.

Ah, one of my all time favourite, first game ever purchased on steam with my own money.
This game is a freakin' gem of gems.
I always have and always will love Torchlight 1 and 2. I have them on my Steam account, and TL2 on my PS4. Modding TL2 on Steam for PC is even better than the original, especially when you get the Synergies mod that enhances your gaming experience.
This game really is addictive as hell
T2 is a masterpiece of a casual RPG!

Have you run into any issues with connectivity on consoles? When trying to join with friends it will allow 1 player in and then the next players game will freeze trying to enter. after that it will kick the other player out, or they will just vanish off screen
The music sounds oddly similar to the title track from the merlin tv show...the one in which John Hurt played the dragon..

It’s awesome and has SKELETONS! A good dungeon crawler is just not a dungeon crawler without skeletons. Subbed
I really wish on console they added an option to make movement based skills not lock onto enemies so you can use them to move where you WANT to rather than straight to an enemy or in the case of rune vault, directly away from an enemy. I’d love more control over my movement based skills so I can use them the way I want to
The latest update on the switch makes me wanna spend more time on this game, just hope they have a lot more things to add like new map, class and a lot of looooootttttt. And local split screen like TQ or same screen like D3. Oh and 1 more thing the character level instead of going on the menu to see what level you are they could put it beside the hp/mp or exp bar.
The game has been on Steam for almost 8 YEARS and still manages to have a 94% positive review rating. Being mod friendly (though limited to a max of 10) relly extends the games life. More classes, more pets, balancing the entire game, QoL features, more areas to explore.
The Torchlight series almost mirrors Diablo, almost all the plot points are too similar. A great evil is sealed below a town, a group of adventurers travel downwards below the town before encountering said evil. One of the heroes takes on the essence of the evil to try to contain it. Said hero is corrupted and wanders through several cities. Torchlight skips Act 4 of D2 and heads straight to 5 after 3. Said evil plans on corrupting/destroying an object that shields the word from another dimension. In TL2 the heroes succeed in restoring the object whereas in D2 the object becomes corrupted and has to be destroyed.
Rokabur The mods are outstanding on steam for sure I still play now from time to time it’s super underrated imo. The base game without mods is still amazing especially with how cheap it is.
@@NoobGamer-di1dw Bought it a few years ago but only started playing about a month ago. Definitely better with mods, Engineer is decent and Spidermines can be fun but I prefer the traditional summoner (which Darkthan's Classes Witch-Doctor fits perfectly).
It mirrors diablo a bit to well seeing how they also fucked up the 3rd game.

Great game. I had some mods once made from a guy, cant quite remember bis name atm but he recreated the entire game, made New classes, graphics to spells, revamped dungeons and bosses and rares, made several levels of mobs.. Insane Work! I still think it works and gets updated.

Seems to be a ongoing theme that the 3 game of a looter franchise has to suck while the second one is the best, Diablo, torchlight, borderlands

Got it on a whim after getting bored 12 hours into The Outrr Worlds..The stayed up till 3 am playing. Now I understand the hype, gaming at its purest form.

Outer Worlds is so freaking average and overhyped. Crappy boring writing. Stale gameplay mechanics. Way too many loading times. Felt like a Fallout game made by robots.

The ones I mentioned in the intro? Diablo 3 and Titan quest both offer local coop on consoles. Sadly, Van Helsing does not offer local coop but it is still awesome!
I'm playing torchlight II now. It's fun, I'm making my character a range Engineer lolz. Melee greataxe? Fck that, Cannon and landmines is the way!
My sword and board engineer was basicly unkillable and could aoe everything on screen to death real fast. fun memories

Playing the mithycal mage engineer with Dynamo field and overload, no autoattack. The class Is very flexible

The only problem with Torchlight 2 is that it follows a lot of action RPG's where about half to three quarters of the way into the game you have to switch over to and stack the "end game stat" (in this case being Damage Reduction) otherwise you literally can not progress.
I'd say in the Salt Barrens so the 2nd half of Act 2, the difficulty ramps up almost immediately although you can push through it or farm some gear for it.
You get round to this area on NG+ though and you will not get through without some Damage Reduction items.
Are you playing on ultra ez mode or do the baddies just not cause damage?
in case of outlander, in pc you can press Ctrl and Click and he'll and stand at one position and attack or he'll go inside the mob and get wrecked in higher difficulties

When they compare the game to Diablo, but it's inspiration was Fate (which was inspired by Diablo, but has the same staff from Fate on board)
One of my all-time favourite ARPGs. The first one was amazing but feels almost like a demo in comparison to this one! I'm tempted to play the 3rd one despite the mixed reviews it got!

TL2 is one of those game I always forget about. Don't know why. Because it really is fun to play.
They need to add the option to remove screen shake!

for those who dont know…”fate” creators and developer has a lot of hidden stuff in this game theyre part of the team that made it. could be why its so addictive.
Fate was such an obscure game even though it was critically acclaimed at the time
it's free on epic games right now and I didn't know if it was worth downloading and taking up my PC storage, after listening to your review ill definitely be playing it right after it downloads!
Download size isnt that big only a few gigs I believe trust me its worth it!
Does it have a puzzle aspect to it?
Fun game but ran into a known bug on the PS4 and doesn't allow you to play multiplayer at certain point further into the campaign.
Experienced a bad coop bug with the PS4 where you can no longer play with friends or randoms once you hit a certain point in the 2nd Act. Playing Grim Dawn on PC now, it's falls somewhere between D3 and POE.
Im watching this video for a second time as torchlight 2 is currently on sale on the switch eshop and I might get it

@@Don-V- A plethora. All new classes, pets, difficulty modes, end game content, textures. It's a long list. I recommend you get it on a steam sale, and then steam workshop is your best friend.

You shouldve also brought Nine Parchments into light here, since you apparently like their OST. Its another amazing co-op game for PC and consoles well worth your time if you enjoy games like Diablo and Torchlight.

I absolutely... I mean absolutely ******* loved torchlight 1 in 360 and was devastated when torchlight 2 didn't come to consoles. It took way too long and I tried getting into it but something about it was lacking. Torchlight 1 had so much character to it and descending further into the mines and only coming back up top to visit the town to turn in quests because your pet could just sell and buy some items. I might try to get back into 2, trying to psych myself up for it with youtube videos lol. Was going to buy diablo 2 resurrected but I'm not really feeling good about buying from blizzard again after all the rape in the workplace shit was unburied

It's a 2012 game so you can forget about anything getting patched although there are plenty of mods on PC. That being said, Torchlight 3 is coming this year and it brings a ton more stuff on top of the action-packed style.
i don't like to much the design of the Torchligh 3 ,the Torchlight II is better
@@Knossosasterion Sure, at the moment I like TL2's style more too. Then again, when I started TL2 I remember I didn't like it either and I preferred TL1's style. So I'm pretty sure after playing TL3 for a while I'll not only get used to it but grow to love and prefer it. I love cartoony art styles in general so as long as the gameplay is good (which it will be), I know I'll have a lot of fun with the game. :)

@@joethealternativegamer3935 wow that was a fast reply :) yeah well the best thing is the developers they truly do the game justice i mean the game was released on february 2016 and it just a got a patch on june, but i must say the last dlc (forgotten gods) is a bit expensive to what it adds BUT you should def try the game with the dlc ashes of malmouth it adds ALOT of content. anyway you are a very underrated reviewer hope you have a good time in the worst year lol Lots of love yo ya buddy

@@joethealternativegamer3935 that is what happens when you make a free to play game to add microtransaction and always online and call it Torchlight Frontier and half way through development change your mind. Redo the game go make it Torchlight 3 but with less loot, less builds, less skills to choose from, no stat points
Like a worse version of diablo 3 at launch. It's just so sad. It literally is worse version of Torchlight 1 with some interesting combat improvements with some of the classes.
Give the game 6 months. If its still shit after that time, its a lost cause. But imo it still has the potential to become a good game. Not a torchlight game but a good arpg

The only thing lacking in this game is trading with other players just like d2r. Half the fun is in trading for your wanted items and selling stuff you find that does not fit your character

Loved the game for years on PC, and I was so ridiculously excited to finally play it on console. But removed features, a myriad of bugs, rampant performance issues, and various poor design choices plague the console releases.
As a long-time fan, the port feels lazy, a watered-down shadow of what the game should be. I never used mods, I'm not missing playing with a mouse/keyboard. I prefer games on console, and having said that, the console release of Torchlight 2 is in a sorry state right now :(
I'm not trolling, I adore Torchlight 2, and I want to see it shine on console. Right now, it simply doesn't. I hope they fix it and patch it up to par with the PC version.

If you haven't tried these, these are a few other good arpg,s grim dawn on pc which is the spiritual sequel to titan quest, Vikings wolves of midgard, path of exile, adventures of van helsing, and shadows awakening.

Something this ARPG has over most others is freedom to play how you want. You aren't forced into meta builds, virtually any build here can find reasonable success.
Thats because this freedom is one of the pillars of Torchlight. It was designed that way.

the biggest problem with torchlight 2 was how they botched the dificulty system. not adding a reward really screwed the game progression system, and made it feel lackluster.

No local co op and cannot play with others unless you both have no mods or exactly the same mods.

GWT I personally love diablo 3 but how this game works with class progression satisfies me more if that makes sense :) so I’d say this plus it’s cheaper haha
D3 is great i jave over 800 hours however it gets boring to watch the hackers take your leaderboard spot...
