torchlight 2 is incredibly fun and is playable OFFLINE. if you want something you can play offline, by LAN and multiplayer, try torchlight 2
apparently theres an awesome minecraft easter egg in Torchlight 2. Theres a small dungeon called "Notch's Mine" and in there is a bunch of creepers and a random minecraft sword with great stats. I think it could be any type of sword, i know people have found a cobble sword and an iron sword in there.
They said Act 2 is a desert for a homage to Mario, but I believe they stated they wanted a big contrast between Act 1 and 2. So Act 1 is all green and I believe snowy at the end (from the tid bits I've gathered) and Act 2 is suppose to be desert with a middle of electrical dungeon type theme. The reason they didn't start in a desert is because it's some what plain (not sure on this last part)?
In Torchlight II they redid the stats. now all stats are important and viable and every stat has a description explaining what it does for your character.
The skillsystem got redone too and it combines the way D2 skills worked with the way D3 wanted them to work - investing enough points into a skill changes it, adds additional effects or changes how the skill works, for example, instead of just providing static increase of stats.
Basically with that class then would you want to up strength and dexterity for the most part? Because he seems to be a mostly DPS geared character

I got Torchlight 1 for free a few weeks ago, i've been playing it on and off but overall its amazing im getting this game.
hey does anyone have any lag issues? i play smoothly for a good 20 mins then i just get this random ass lag that wont stop.

Torchlight 2 was made by the same team that did D1 and D2. This is basically what D3 should have been for only less than half the price. It's only 20$, and extremely worth it.
I played the first game when they released it on the Xbox live arcade... I really enjoyed the game and look forward to playing this one... I now have a gaming PC so I don't have to wait lol
never played the first one. Do you have to be online to play this like diablo 3?
Except that unlike with D3:
- With this you have an actual new-game plus that is DIFFERENT
- You have mod support so expect total conversions, crazy mods, new maps, classes, skills, monsters and dungeons being released by mod community.
Torchlight 2, for sure. I was so disappointed with D3 I went back to play Torchlight 1 and it was still a more satisfying experience.
Can't wait to play this! I enjoyed this video, but wish he had made comparisons to Torchlight and not just Diablo 2/3 though.

Even though you're not saying that a rip-off is a bad thing, it's generally used as a bad thing. So its better to use another word, to avoid confusion.

and ca. 30 other stats (+10k strength, 5k life steal etc etc)

I got Torchlight 1 free a while back, was a bit put off by it's "childish" looks but still, free right? amazing game. Just because 2 looks childish doesn't mean it sucks, I recommend these games to anyone!

i don't wanna start an argument but i'm stuck between diablo 3, guild wars 2 and torchlight 2? which will i simply get the most fun out of?
I see, I really should try out Guild Wars 2 and Torchlight II. Especially since Torchlight II is only $19.99 on Steam. And they are both low-end games which is good because my PC only has 512 Video RAM. :3
i have played both games and both games are great.. the only downside D3 has is its auction house. if they removed the AH they would make D3 a really good game. This is the main reason i love torchlight 2 no Auction house bullshit.
you know, would be cool if you mentioned something about FATE, FATE was a game inspired by diablo, now, some of the producers/creators of diablo, made torchlight, which is more popular :D

The "couple of guys" are the LEAD developers of Diablo, Diablo II and Diablo: LOD, as well as the music composer for the first two Diablo games. You know, bassically the MAIN important people that thought up the game and made the game what it is.
This... looks damn good.
I just hope that stat/skill building won't be as complex.
The amount of times I've had to respec/reroll my characters in Diablo 2 was just outright embarrassing

I haven't played guild wars 2, but I can guarantee you that you will get the better diablo game experience in Torchlight II.
Torchlight 1 was amazing and i think that the developers have beat themselves with this new one.
In Torchlight(1) i ended up with a LVL 5 sword witch gave me 26BILLION health and 24K DPS (passed it on ca 50 times)

Been playing the SHIT out of some Torchlight to prepare for this. Playin on Hard difficulty, whole game wasn't that hard except for this last section!

D3 is a game that will disapoint you but then you realize that they are "SLOWLY" fixing it so if you have patiance go for D3. Torchlight 2 on the otherhand looks like a promising game....it has everything that T1 had and then some. TBH i rly liked the T1 (diablo-clone) but done right. Something D3 failed at start(I know 4 lvl 60's) so depends on you :). FYI i dont know about T2 but D3 pvp will come out in 1.1 patch (ages away tough)

the only reason D3 sold so much was because of the reputation D2 gave the game. Had people know how the game actually was, it wouldn't have sold nearly as much.
Technical stuff IS the game play. Diablo has an almost flawless combat. That's all there needs to be, really. Everything else can be fixed with time.
Probably 100. That's what it was for TL1 (along with 55 levels of fame, don't know if fame is in tl2 didn't look)

I don't know because I've never played either one, but I want to get Torchlight 2 because old Diablo fans say that Torchlight II is way better than Diablo III and Diablo III was a huge let down.

It does look like a pretty good ARPG, though.
In fact, no. D3 is disappointing in two main aspects, though: Firstly, from the perspective of D2, it was not, what many players wanted or expected. Secondly, from the design choices that were made for D3, there were some that were actually bad (initial Inferno design, hoping the economy would fix the auction house, no individualization of your characters).
D3 was disappointing, but still a good game.

After some disappointment with Diablo 3, I'm excited for TL2. Blizzard can learn a lot from this game for the future. Oh, and to all the Diablo fanboys, I'm a Diablo fanboy as well. I just have a different mentality than most, while you think: THIS GAME > THIS GAME > THIS GAME. I think: THIS GAME + THIS GAME + THIS GAME = WIN. Talk about how games can improve, how a feature from one game could benefit another, etc.. Mindless trash talking doesn't help anyone, especially the industry at large.
Oh I don't know.. How about being what D3 should've been? Seeing how D3 is nothing like D1-2..

Awesome game for 20 bucks,I've already got a whole lot more enjoyment out of the 20 hours played than I got in my whole Diablo 3 experience.
What I don't like about this game is the same thing I didn't like about Torchlight 1: too much shit going on... it's full of bright colorful explosions that don't really make your character feel more powerful, they just don't let you see anything. I liked the simpler D2 style of only a few things at a time and, at most, the D3 style where there is more colorful shit, but they try to limit it. I mean, D3 gets crazy on screen clutter when there is 4 players, this thing would be even worse.

why everyone has to bash on a good game? because 90% of people who bought D3 eventually became dissapointed in it. you're in the very small minority who actually still likes it.
Why I personally was dissapointed in D3? Simple, D3 began to feel like an auction house with a game attached towards the end. I was also frustrated with the fact that theres no skill/stat points. This causes every character of the same class be pretty much the same exact character. Absolutely no diversity except gear.
Ok, I hate on IGN alot, but this video is pretty.... no, REALLY nicely done.

That's not true at all. From a technical point of view, Diablo III is amazing. The main things that people are bitching about is that they don't like the game design decisions, such as lowering the droprates to account for people using the auction house, therefore leaving people who don't like to use that system with a great heap of useless loot.
