For berserkers, the devs themselves stated that they do better the more they throw themselves at damage dealing. The more damage you do, the faster your gauge fills and you start doing criticals. There is a passive to heal you when you crit. Combine that with life steal, and it means the more damage you do, the harder you are to kill. At the high end, it only takes 1 or 2 hits to fill your gauge, so you are constantly doing crits.
This is all by design. It is why they named the class the berserker. Trying to dodge your way through the game does not match their name.
Being colorblind and not always seeing things I'm supposed to dodge, this sounds right up my alley!
@@chuckmaddox6725 Just remember that you only Life steal with basic attacks. If you get low on health, do a basic attack till you lifesteal back up and then go back to your special attacks.
I play this game after completing Diablo 4 first season.. this is such a great game!
I JUST finished watching your Torchlight 3 disappointment video, and I'm watching this now. Torchlight 2 is truly the best one by far out of the 3 games

@@laszloneumann500 Technically, he can say best of the 3. We can look at the first 3 games as a trilogy in the same universe(?). Especially since Torchlight: Infinite is going in a much different direction with it's art style and gacha mechanics.
I love this game, cant believe its 10 years old.
Few months ago I played the entire game tring to focus in the story because a didn't remember any of it. I'm really disapointed that such a great game doesnt have an iconic story.
The reason I still played this game its because it feels really good to kill enemies in it. And I enjoy most of the enemies designs, except for act 3 enemies, they feel kind of dull.
Anyways, still love it, and a will keep playing. Currently leveleing an outlander with a venom build and after that I'll try the sinergies mod.

Pro tip, if you play on veteran or higher, look for gems that have damage reduction. The best ones only drop in lvl 42 area. Its a must for late game or you get one shot. It have to be farmed in that area, you cant get them later. Also, vitality is useless for health. There are gems that give way more health then you get for investing in vit. Only get vit fir block chance or gear requirements. There is alot in this game that is not explained well.
Alot of the guides got deleted when the runic forums got shut down.

Just started playing this yesterday
This is the first true ARPG I've played, and the the only other RPG I've played is the Dragon Age series. So I can't compare TL2 to Diablo or similar games. This game is fun to play after a long day when I need some semi-mindless fun. I like the graphic style, and with all of the mods available I'm always finding something new. I agree the story such as it is, is weak. But the game has a charm all of it's own.
I'm still playing it on steam with mods, such great game...
In my mind, the game has three classes. Or three playable classes. The berserker is so dull early on and so prone to dying later on that I just stopped trying. The other three however - oh man. Who needs Grim Dawn's class bonanza? These three are all you need to have a rockin' good time!
The game holds up really well even after all these years.

I didn't needed to see this, but I in fact needed to see this. I'm still playing and modding the game and it's a FUCKTON - hear me out - of fun, putting aside that I'm ok with you on most of the things you said here, and the Embermage is to me the funnier class too. Obviously I watched your TL3 video, which, having played after seeing it, I agree with too, but it still is funny at times, not that challenging, but still fun.
Synergy or Ace with bigger inventory, Mapwork+, highloot and extrachunky is a must have.

Funny timing for this to hit my suggested videos. I just picked this up again last month for the first time since launch. I still prefer D2 but this game is certainly a fun arpg. You can feel the Blizzard North team in so many little touches.

I play this since day 1 and still worth playing! Unfortunately, never got any major expansion since its release. =( Most mods are really good but I wish there was more official released content.
LOL I play Torchlight 2 now as my alt ARPG to Grim Dawn. Both are miles ahead of D4. D4 was a waste of money! Like your video!

i still have torch 1,2,3 still installed in my pc. all i can say is that, 1 is always the goat, 3 is the worst but still a good game in my opinion, but 2 is the one i'll always go.there are so many build i'd love to try in this game

There are tons of mod classes, from summoning waves of crows to ripping things apart as a werewolf. The mods are a huge draw for TL2 and really make it fun.

Have you ever played Champions Of Norrath on ps2? It's crazy how good that game is. It has far superior combat and enemy A.I. to Torchlight 2, imho. And It's like 19 years old. I just bought Torchlight 2 on sale last night, and I'm having buyer’s remorse. It feels like several steps backward in so many ways.
While i enjoy Torchlight 2, i must say, its loot is atrocious, especially the rarest loot, like Yellow uniques. Their stats are fucking abysmal. I want good stats like cast speed, charge decay reduction, damage, not worthless garbage like pet armor and magic find, and on top of this, even if i wanted magic find, what the hell am i supposed to do with 1% of it?
I am literally max level, i installed a mod so only uniques drop and every single one of them sucks ass. All of them are just a bunch of random stats shotgunned onto it randomly. This has gotten to the point that im using randomly generated loot because atleast that has a chance of being good, and giving me the stats i want if i get lucky and it drops with those stats. The yellow items are fixed, and their fixed stats are trash. The only way they'll ever be good is if i spend billions of gold rerolling the random enchantments, and to prove my point,p i gave myself 10 million gold which would take an eternity to farm, and i spent it all on rerolling random enchanted stats, and i not only didnt get the ones i want, but *didnt even come close to getting them*. Its pure 100% RNG and thats bull.

@@markusk3015 I, erm... By 'randomly generated loot' i meant the tiers under unique/yellow, because those are randomly generated, not that im using a mod that generates Uniques with random stats

this game ruined every other arpg for me because its the best. I like those who have seasons but when i play them i always miss this colorful high fantasy artstyle of torchlight 2. Infinite is good but the chinese developers couldnt catch this special atmosphere. They tried and i see love in infinite but its nothing like tl 2:(
2:46 no it's not decent ability. It's straight garbage. Not only why would range character has melle dash attack it s just so clunky and long that it s horrible. I liked outlander dash as it fits his character< all characters have imo perfectly matching class tendencies>. Good video anyway.

Fucking everything is called that from dark souls to double-ass creed and those games are nothing alike, and these games arent like them either.
The diablo style games are ARPG's, and yes, i know that stands for action RPG, but that term needs to die. Its used in such a generic way now that its meaningless. Hell, even Bayonetta and DMC are action RPG's and those games are extremely like on the RPG part... Those for example would be Spectacle Fighters
