A suggestion… if you’ve ever had a house fire, you’ll agree with me. Store all your important papers (will, power of attorney, house records, tax documents, etc ) in a fireproof box. Keep it on the lowest floor, preferably in a corner so you’ll know where to look if the unthinkable happens. Same with important business papers. Your home is beautiful!
Here in South Texas everything important should be stored in vacuum sealed plastic bags due tu hurricanes and flooding. My house was hit by lightning and it burnt. I had my important documents in one closet near the outside door, easy to see the contents and crap the bundles. Keep a large bag of heavy duty trash bags nearby to load the stuff in.
One suggestion, I’m a organizing freak. Sort the long sleeves together and the short sleeves together. It will look so much neater. 😊 I did like the project, your closet looks great.
Me, too. Someone asked if I had been in the military. No, I have OCD and all hangers are 1 1/2 inches apart. Except shoes and slippers. I can't walk passed a Dearfoam without touching and wanting to buy another pair to add to the cluttered pile of Dearfoams I already have.

Captain obvious here, ypu have impeccable taste & seeing how far your hands on has developed- far exceeding other designers who are concept or buy already created peieces,where you're creating/reviving small to large peices. Your recognition and appreciation when reviving other peoples' peices (especially of a time long gone by) sets you apart. You really have something special.
Looks great! I would change the small mirror to a full length mirror. Use to hold clothing up to you before you take them out of the closet. I use a wide wood hanger to limit the stretching of the fabric. The down side is it takes up closet space. The shoe holders are a great idea.
I think most people would not think to put lovely decor in a closet, but our boy Drew did! It looks so nice, I love it. The mirror and the armoire look so nice together, another great job! ❤️
Something I did was put a small area rug in my closet. I use my closet like a dressing room and I love having the rug to stand on while dressing. I also put a small ottoman with a hinged lid. It’s great for extra storage and to sit on to put on shoes and socks.
I love that colour of paint. The cabinet is lovely too. What I love especially about colour is that room doesn’t look any smaller but it’s warmer, purposeful,rich and inviting instead of the stark white unfinished look before

Spent the majority of my afternoon cleaning my kitchen but still have to tackle laundry... This video has done a lot to inspire me to 1. Get out of my PJs (lol) 2. Straighten my closet (!) 3. Lol I did the same thing in my son's closet a few months ago. Found a Beautiful armoire and cleaned it up and put it in the closet and it looks amazing. His shoes and games and hats fit perfectly. I took off the bifold doors and took the track off the top and cut a piece of wood and stained it and put it up there where the track was. It just looks so much cleaner and adds more to the room.🥰❤️

Absolutely Fabulous !!!!!! As a 60 year old gay man that's been in retail for 40 year's. I have 5 closet that just have year's of clothing in them all. A large one just for coats, another for suits, one for just collared shirts, pants ; ect. ect. ect.... Must of everything does not fit me sense covid. Normally when people asked WHY do you have so many clothes. I just say I'm gay and I don't want any room for me in THERE! LOL You've inspired me to go through them all . You can get more shoes on the shelf by placing the right shoe facing the wall and then turning the left shoe the opposite way facing out. You can probably get an extra pair of shoes on the shelf that way. I have mine that way and it works great

You are simply amazing at what you design. I knocked down a wall and went from large walk in closet to this size. I’m going to keep my eye out for similar piece.
If you like the O’Cedar mop you would LOVE the Libman mop. It’s a spin mop but you don’t have to step on a pedal you just pump it up and down to wring it. I love it because I can get it almost dry to mop my hardwood floors.

Years ago I use to professionally hang wallpaper and at that time wallpaper was popular I use to be able to talk people into wallpapering their closets even if the closet opening was unfolds. It's amazing how elegant they looked. And people people find themselves keeping it neater including the children. Also customers would allow me to install shelves in those areas to the right of the bi-fold doors allowing for storage of games, puzzles and books and of course doubling up on the closet rod for the balance of space. Your closet is beautiful. Was glad to see you utilize height.

That armoire is so gorgeous. I love handmade, vintage pieces. Good craftsmanship stands the test of time and add so much warmth to a space. If I had an abundance of time (and some money), I would put forth the effort to learn how to build custom pieces as a hobby.
I just finished my first ever big DIY project, upgrading my closets. It's a surprising amount of work and physical labor! I was pouring sweat. It took several days for me to purge my clothes, remove the old fixtures, sand, paint, install the new system, and sort my clothes while putting them back in. I'm the only one who'll ever see inside them but it already makes such a big difference every morning!

One question I do have is when did the trend of putting a bureau in the closet start? I know when I was a kid and my mom put a shelf in the closet I was like whaaatt??! I guess it makes room for other items in your room and it keeps it more tidy looking. Thank you!

I did that as well; however, my house is not musty or leaking water, and those important papers are smelly for whatever reason.
December 6 2000. Lost everything due to a candle. Lost everything but wedding quilt and brand new nativity scene (and a few other things)
Better still, get a fireproof safe. Got a small case type at Costco, but Amazon probabl has them too..

This is how I do my closet also: tanks>short sleeves>long sleeves>coats. I don’t even have to think it’s just so easy to find things!

I think this is a pie cabinet... or maybe an old root cellar type cabinet. Those pieces are made for air flow. What a beautiful find!
