I should also note the hand rail for the left of the stairs is currently being made! I completely forgot to mention that in the video. She will be installed ASAP to prevent any accidents of course :) We never use this back stairwell so until then we are using caution!
Wow!!!! Hated the first cabinet. That second one is wow. The tile wow with that stain. Everything is wow. And it’s a damn laundry room! 😂. I so dig it.
Just a note as a plumbers wife here 🙋🏻♀️ if ur drain ever backs up it could overflow at the washing machine drain onto back of wall 😬 making it accessible quickly to turn it off could prevent a lot of damage- maybe put a sensor on the wall or near by that can tell u if water overflows and isn’t visible right away? Just a thought, I’m sure simply safe has something for that.
Man, you have come a long way, i remember you when you were still a fashion channel. Not that theres anything wrong with that but i think you really shine with interior design
What I love about your channel and content, Drew is you get right to the point. Let me explain.... You show your projects, walk us through what we are interested in learning, you educate us, inspire us, you showcase your projects, and entertain us without endless rambling. I have noticed lately that some other content creators who I have loved and followed for years are starting shift their focus from their lovely content to pointing the camera on themselves and just ramble on and on without showing us projects, DIY's or what attracted us to their channel in the first place. I realize people's channels are free to evolve but I appreciate your channel as I personally feel it has remained true for me after all these years!
Bad, bad, bad.....you should not block off your water turn off on your washer. Make it a pull down front if you want, but to depend on pulling out your washer to gain access is such a bad idea. The laundry room is stunning. I especially love your antique armoire. ❤❤❤
Tip from my cabinet guy... When you have an issue like you had with the Billy bookcase where wood tones weren't matching because of sun exposure, take your doors and either A) set them outside in direct sun for several hours, or B) take them to a tanning salon to sit on a bed for 15-30 mins. It allows the wood to get the same patina as the rest of the cabinet so it matches better.
Drew, The vintage oil (?) painting in the frame is so fabulous and I would love to see it over the armoire. Please just try it over the armoire and see how it looks from the kitchen. What a beautiful painting.
Yeaaaaaa….I knew you would find the right one if you kept looking. It’s perfect. Just a cleanup and give it some nourishment and it really enhances your laundry room.
Looks great! 😍 I can imagine some amber apothecary bottles and jars full of all your laundry soaps and other essentials lined up on the shelf and counter.
If you like it that's the main thing. Not my style but glad you do. I would prefer the cabinets that were there. Yes, a handrail would be great for the stairs.
Love love love! So happy you found the “new” armoire - it’s perfect! And I really appreciate following how you are honoring the historic style of the home while still updating it! ❤
Always felt some of the sun-bathed images in your previous apt were worthy of being sold as poster art. The shot from the kitchen, with the angled sunlight on the 'new' old cabinet (which perfectly suits the space) is another. Stunning! Or, perhaps, images for a future book.
Your "new" cabinet is a bachelor's chest. The small section above the drawers would have been for hats. I love the little stool on top of the cabinet. I use ones like that and the little bench type on shelves or on top of cabinets all the time. Your room is so beautiful!
@@martinmccord Yep. It's a chifforobe. And also known as a gentleman's chest. A bachelor's chest is just a regular chest of drawers with a slanted surface at the top meant to be used as a writing desk. It's not the chifforobe configuration of drawers and cubbies behind doors.
So glad about the cabinet. I almost always love your picks, even if it’s not my preferred style. It rarely happens, but I truly hated that other cabinet.
I am happy to see you put in a clothing drying station. I think that you will really enjoy it! FYI…I think the primary cabinet looks amazing. It’s the perfect touch!
I love how you’re able to pivot and troubleshoot without getting discouraged! Also props to you for getting creative and painting the original armoire. Im sure it’ll be great once you’re able to complete your vision.
I highly recommend sheets of detergent versus liquid detergent. It’s easier to store, significantly less messy, keeps your new washer cleaner and is ecologically sooooo much better because you didn’t purchase a huge plastic container.
So glad you found this "new" armoire. It suits the room much better than the previous one/s. Looking forward to seeing where you will now place the painted one.
I am so glad you hung the rug backside out. When you were holding the rug in your hands waiting to show it to the viewers it was (unbeknownst to the us) backside out & made me gasp with how beautiful it was. Then you showed what is considered the right side, where the wool yarns & design are clear & prominent (for me not to my liking). So when you decided to hang it backside out I was like, right on Drew, that is EXACTLY how it needed to be hung to be in keeping with the tone & feel of the space. Kudos to you. Also, the cabinet is absolutely perfect & toning down the lighter tiles was also the perfect thing to do. Well done.
Ok, so I am not the commenting type and here it goes.😅 I felt such a great connection with you with the armoire swap. I loved what you did with the first one. The second one was a big no for me and for the first time I was like “huh? What are you doing Drew?” Then the shaker style bachelor cabinet appeared and OMG😮 - stunning. And you did nothing to it. 😉 It’s the proces that captivates me every time. Cause yes, you can change your mind until it feels right. Thank you for taking us along on your proces and letting us see that it’s doable!!!❤
Beautifully done as always! Wanted to let you know for any future timing projects (or for anyone else who happens to see this) you can actually cut a square hole in your wooden framing to create an “access panel” that can be reattached with magnets and still tiled over (only with silicone caulk instead of grout for easy removal). Contractors usually build these into built-in jacuzzi tubs so plumbers can access the mechanisms beneath the tub surround. From far away, the caulk will look identical to the grout (provided you purchase both in the same color) and no one else will be any the wiser that a small section of that tiled surface can actually be pried open to access whatever is underneath. Obviously this job is already completed, but if you find yourself ever wanting to redo the tile in the future or constructing a similar project in the future, this could be something to consider to save yourself the hassle of moving appliances. 😊
It's just right, Drew. Every detail is chef's kiss. The stool can be pulled down if you want to put a foot up while folding your laundry so your back doesn't start to ached.
Love the $75 old cabinet, best! Wall color is so pretty! Love how staining the tiles made them appear more vintage. And the washer n dryer! Gorgeous!! Very cool to see the factory!
What I find amazing about you Drew is how your styling and color combinations continue to surprise me. To me, your always thinking outside the box and have the courage to follow through with your ideas. And the even bigger surprise is how much I really like/love them when you're done. Justin's pink sunglasses made me smile...he looked so cute!!! ❤❤
Drew, please do us, your guests and yourself a favor and install some sort of vintage railing between the armoire and the stairwell for safety. Makes me nervousevery time you stand close to that area. 😮
The laundry room came out beautifully! I would’ve loved to see you add detergent and softeners, wool balls , etc. in pretty containers inside the cabinet! It would be the little added bonus! This was an overall nice transformation🤩
I’m so glad about the 1st cabinet! I loved the idea behind what you were doing but it wasn’t quite right there. I’m looking forward to the evolution of it! The room is beautiful!
When we bought our house we purchased a front loading LG washer and dryer. It’s now been 17 years and they’ve been absolutely amazing. I’ve never had any major issues with either one of them, and they’ve always washed our clothes tremendously. I hope you enjoy yours as much as we do ours!
The chair rail behind the cabinet was killing me, the new cabinet looks great! The light fixture is giving Lowe's vibes. Drawer slides would've been great on the countertop for making the plumbing and exhaust more accessible. A lot of house fires are caused by lint buildup in the dryer exhaust, so it's something you want easily accessible for cleaning.
I agree. I just think minutes count and there may be regrets with that design in the future. That said it all looks gorgeous, just not entirely practical. Also, that drop by the stairs stresses me out.
Yeah that part was confusing me - I thought surely I must be misunderstanding until he started putting the tile on top of it. I don't really get that choice at all, especially when they've already had a massive leak in that room before.
I like the makeover but have a concern about access to the water shutoff valves for the washer incase of emergency. My friend had the hose for the hot water come off. She ended up with a small lake before she was able to shut off the water. One person I know shuts off the water each time they have finished the laundry. Also, recommended to shut off the water if going away.
Each and every one of your videos just amazes me more and more. How on earth does anyone ever think of creating a warm, inviting and cozy laundry room. Well you did of course! From my experience a laundry is either minimalist and cold or a room that gathers more and more odds and ends that have no other place to live. It’s usually a room where you keep the door firmly closed. What a beautiful job you have done on this room. It is so integrated with the rest of the house. I’d certainly be showing it off if it was mine. Certainly no closed door for this beauty. Congratulations Drew you have done it again. One thing though, as a great grandmama, I would certainly put a railing along that small area where the stairs are for safety. 😊💕
LOVE the new cabinet that you found for the space! Literally perfection!! I think the other two just had too light of a wood tone and the dark pairs so nicely coming from the kitchen with the dark cabinets
I started reading the comments while watching the clip and couldn't understand how the new cabinet (the ikea cabinet, I thought) could be considered a better option than the folklore cabinet? The Ikea cabinet was too modern for the place and the wrong wood color. I'm so glad there was a third option, because this turned out perfect. So beautiful!
Hey just wondering when you are going to put a railing up at the stairs? I was sweating it big time when you were showing us the painting with your back to the opening....heart attack waiting to happen! But love the room! My favorite is the cabinet and the way you styled it!
Yes this Cabinet is amazing, and so much at is place than the other one ! Great choice, and the Laundry Room is looking very nice, and the Hanger: what a great idea !!!!
You are such a breath of fresh air - I smiled all the way through your video. OMG I came to the comments just to see if that was being addressed; y'all had my blood pressure sky high every time you went near the stairs LOL
Excellent
I am relieved!! The last cupboard was perfect. Your friend has infinite patience!!

LG ARE THE BEST APPLIANCES AND TVs I only buy LG for my home !! Life’s good baby!!
I am so glad you changed the armoire in laundry room twice!!That marketplace find is perfect.
Much better than the other diy painted cabinet
Im glad you took out the old cabinet, it was NEVER meant for that space!
Yes I agree, the hutch however adorable just didn’t look right in the space. I think this one fits much better.
Floor is my favorite ❤
Wow!!!! Hated the first cabinet. That second one is wow. The tile wow with that stain. Everything is wow. And it’s a damn laundry room! 😂. I so dig it.
I love how you allowed those arches to breath air back into the space.
I love it when people actually pay attention to the fact that the laundry room can also be decorated and beautiful. Great job Drew!
thank you so much :)
He ruined everything 😂
Omg a Vining, plant or trailing plant sitting on top of the little stool that is on top of the cabinet would be so beautiful

The fact he found the Armoire from his inspiration picture in the Marquetplace. Insane!😮
Looks great! Just hope U don’t have to turn the water off in a emergency.
Absolutely beautiful!!

The chair rail behind the cabinet was killing me, the new cabinet looks great! The light fixture is giving Lowe's vibes. A lot of house fires are caused by lint buildup in the dryer exhaust, so it's something you want easily accessible for cleaning.
Yes!, or hinges, or ability to lift the backsplash and shelf off so you can access the turn offs.
I agree. Maybe it's cause I'm a Mom and have done more laundry than I care to remember but when he said he could pull the washer or dryer out to get to the water turn off or plug and my mind was just like NO. I just think minutes count and there may be regrets with that design in the future. That said it all looks gorgeous, just not entirely practical. Also, that drop by the stairs stresses me out.
Yes, Drew, you will want quicker access....
Yeah that part was confusing me - I thought surely I must be misunderstanding until he started putting the tile on top of it. I don't really get that choice at all, especially when they've already had a massive leak in that room before.
Dryer lint clean out is also very important. My neighbor had a fire due to a loose connection and build up of excess lint.
